JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

If any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
1 Timothy 5:8

For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?
1 Timothy 3:5

One of the most dramatic needs of our culture is that of godly husbands and fathers in the home.

It is reflected in the lack of discipline in many of today's youth and is bound to have an effect on the quality of leadership in the local assembly.

Brethren, let's take our responsibilities seriously and, with His help, be the godly examples we ought to be both at home and in the assembly.

There are eternal issues at stake.

Thank-you Pat...Food for thought again!

However...

"Fathers do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged." Col 3:21

"Father's do not exasperate your childen: instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." Eph 6:4

When  I first became Born again, I went to a little Pentecostal Church and was taken into the Nurture Group. Praise God for these Nurture Groups. Not everyone has a Christian Father.

Got to go now a program on the radio re a Christian cult sending their motherless women abroad to receive babies from God.  The trailer states the dubiousness of this.

Watch this space folks...

Love and Blessings,
In Jesus' Name.

Jenny.

Good morning, friends,

Must rush off to work today in this wonderfully glorious weather. It's chilly enough I'm wearing a sweatshirt (IN AUGUST, OF ALL THINGS!).

One of the things I've always feared in my work life is that I be considered a sluggard. I really try to be a "workman worthy of his hire.

What a wonderful guideline for our lives is the Bible!

Y'all have a great day.

Good Morning to you all. Thank you Pat for the devotional this morning. I have been to prayer meeting, and prepared my little roast and veggies in the crockpot for my supper tonight. I noticed while at the church this morning that my head is feeling a tiny bit dizzy, I must be very careful today not to move to quickly, I think it might be that BPV again.

Ruth Ann I am so sorry I missed your call last night, I was at that Union Meeting.

I was so shocked to hear about all the things that the negotiators on the County side, wanted to make the clients pay for. It is so important that we fight for our clients. This county has been know to take the funds for this program and move it into another program. (steal our wage increases). I am going to write to all the board of supervisors and a letter to the editor of the local paper.  Well I will get off my soap
box now.

Jenny ~ Anyone may print or use anything that I post on CP.  It would be my honor.  Glad your dentist trip turned out fine.  I go next month and I know he will still want to put a double crown on two teeth...the same two teeth that my former dentist wanted to crown over 15 years ago.  They don't hurt.

Janet ~ You stay so busy....you wear me out!!  I am hoping the 'more water' pills helps the swelling.  Stay close to the small rooms in your home or wherever you are.   ;)

Larry ~ Sorry about your earache.  I have never had an earache.  I guess I am fortunate.  Let me tell a little story.   :)  My Dad suffered from earaches.  Once when I was real little, he was lying on the couch.  Mom had a tea cup in her hand and kneeled down on the floor beside dad.  She took his cigarette and puffed on it and then exhaled in the tea cup and then Mom put the tea cup over Dad's ear.  She would hold the tea cup over his ear keeping as much of the smoke as she could in the cup.  Then she would do it again.  I thought this was so weird because Mom didn't smoke cigarettes...just Dad.   :-\  Days later, I pretended I had an earache so she would do the same for me.  I guess the heat or the smoke was suppose to help the earache.  I can't remember if it helped Dad or not.  It didn't help me..... ::)

Sonja ~ Do you have a Good Will in your area?  They sometimes have vintage clothing.  Ask at your church...someone may have some there also.

joyce robson ~ I am so glad you enjoyed 'Too Blessed to be Stressed'.  But do give Chris credit also because he posted it first.  I just received the grahic and thought it was a great coincidence.

Alma ~ Back pain is a terrible pain.  And it seems that sometimes the littlest action will make your back act up again.  I, too, am praying for your Real Estate license.

Chris ~ So true.  The closer we are to God, the smaller our problems seem.  It is so hard to let God have our problems...we tend to be problem solvers and want to do our own solving.

Sarah ~ So happy that school was great!  Yep, the last first day of school.  How cool is that?

Ruth Ann ~ I must confess.  Yesterday, I was so cold sitting here in this house.  I shut all the windows and was still cold to the bone.  So I turned on my heat here in the house for about a half hour.  Then I was fine.  But I did sleep with my window opened a little.  I am hot natured.  I like the cool weather.  Truly, I have a few degrees that I am comfortable.  If over that, I am too hot.  If below, I am too cold.  haha!

Marilyn ~ How did the meeting go?  Is your crock pot going today?  Roast and potatoes....yummmmmm!

Papa John ~ I'm with you.  68 degrees sounds wonderful!!!

I just got a call from Ivalou.  I am going to mow my grass and then we are going out to eat and to the grocery.  I have my cornbread made and tonight I am making a Cornbread Salad...it is in the Recipe Section.  That will be my covered dish for our Small Groups outing Sunday.

Thanks Etta Sue! I think your the only one who read my post.  :(  Glad you are reading it or what is the point in posting a question.  :)

re the Broadcast I listened to this afternoon..."You and Yours" B.B.C.Radio. The cult mentioned is the church of Bishop Gilbert Deya. He has a verylarge church in England..he sends childless mothers to Nairobi and tells them there will be a miracle birth.  They come home with babies.  One woman has had 4 in 12 months....
Tests have been done and these babies do not have either the mother or father's DNA...and a local orphange in Nairobi slums is involved.  Many babies are thrown out to die in ditches in that area.
These "mothers" do not know how it happens but they are taken into a dark room and Bishop Deya's wife is over there.......
Meanwhile Deya's church is receiving a lot of money as he keeps asking folks to send more as they too will receive miracles just like the baby miracles.
Child trafficking is rife in Kenya.

Forgive me...I don't quite know how to express all this...but it has to be brought into the light.

This man is still under investigation for his treatment of children...who he said were possessed.

Soni Hi there!

Etta Sue Thanks dear one. ;)

Love,
Jenny.

Hmm., when I asked Pat to put the slogan under my name:... "Too Blessed to be Stressed"., I thought that it wasn't taken by anyone else.

Please correct me if I am mistaken, and I will find another.

Thanks.... Judy M.
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Janet

Soni, I did read your question----I just didn't have any answers for you!  The only clothing from the 20s that I know of is in our local museum.  I know it does seem sometimes that no one is reading what we post, but that isn't really the case.  Just as it seems sometimes that only a very few look at the phots we post.  I don't have any answers for that, either!

I went to get Beth's commodities for her, stood in line in the blazing sun, and then about 20 of us were turned away empty-handed.  They said they had run out of food.  The thing that I don't understand is how people can afford to drive $40,000 vehicles, each one have their own cell phones, and still qualify for free food. :-\ :-\

I have little Autumn here plus the three boys.  They all (the boys, not Autumn) finished their oil paintings today, so are happy about that.  Now they are getting ready to go swimming again.  Maybe while they are at the pool, I can get a bit of rest.  I seem to be getting pretty weary.  For sure, God knew what He was doing when He gave babies to the young!

Jenny, that situation smells to high heaven!  C'mon---FOUR babies in 12 months???  Something very fishy is going on there!

Etta Sue, I don't tell you often, but I do so enjoy your cheerful posts.  Sometimes I wish I were having one of your do-nothing days!  Well..........I do have them once in a while.........just not lately!

Hi Ruth Ann!  You are an inspiration to me.  You have such a wonderful attitude in spite of your difficulties.

Hello, Marilyn.  I hope you get your raise.

Time to haul these guys to the pool.  I shall return!

Janet..

Yes and the mothers even have morning sickness.  This man Gilbert Deya has a television program....very loud and highly charged. Anyway he is being investigated by the police and immigration authorities since it is believed that all the papers, i.e. birth certificates are forged.
My dear West Indian Christian "sister" Myrnel has also seen him on t.v. and says he is a liar!!!
When Jesus performs a miracle He doesn't ask for mone and He wouldn't need to send these women to Nairobi to give birth. Some of them from the time Deya tells them they will have a child to the time of birth is only about one month.....I ask you?.All of them have to go to Kenya, have the baby and then come home...fate accompli.
He hypes them up in his services and mesmerises them. The tragic thing is that Deya believes his own lies.

It is very cold here tonight.  I must pop the warmer duvet over the bed.(Thinking of you Ruth Ann).

God bless you all.
Jenny.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This has been a very busy day.  On Friday's we meet at our local senior center for men's coffee at 7:30 am.  We had about 15 men there today and always enjoy a nice time visiting and drinking coffee.  We don't solve any of the world's problems when we get together and hopefully don't create any.  ;D

Then I went to the other Senior Center where we had our August Volunteer meeting for our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center.  We are gearing up for our fall class offerings.  I plan to coach a 4-week class this fall on Database, if we have enough sign up for it to hold the class.

I came home and had quite a bit of work to do on the webpage for the Senior Center and for the Learning Center.  Am just now having time to read the messages here.

I am happy to be able to say that I am feeling good today and my earache seems to be gone.  I put the heatpad on my pillow last night in case I needed to use it during the night but didn't have to turn it on.  Don't know whether it is the sulfa drug I am taking, the chicken soup my wife made yesterday or just the passage of time that has made me feel better but that isn't important.  Just glad to be feeling better after about 2 1/2 weeks of fighting this cold.

Sonja, I did read your question and do read all the postings here in NEM, but as I didn't have any suggestions didn't comment.  Unless you access to a costume store I don't know where you would find such costumes.  Maybe someone can sew something that is of that style.  Thanks for your get well wishes, maybe that is what did it!

Jenny, that is certainly a bothersome report.  How can people be so gullible to be taken in by something like this.  Terrible things are happening all over the world and this is certainly another example.

Ruth Ann, we are also having very cool and low humidity days.  Don't think we will even get rain from this hurricane.  However, don't think we will have to turn on our furnace, although I often wear a sweater in the house as Pat keeps it very cool as she is always warm.

Marilyn, it sounds like your meeting was very eye-opening.  Hope the dizziness is gone.

Judy, I like your little saying.

Janet, how much longer will your grandchildren be with you.  I can't imagine having to raise grandchildren and in so many families this is now happening.  It is a shame that the commodities and aid are abused by some.  If I can help you with your computer settings please e-mail me and I will do anything I can.

Alma, that back pain sounds terrible.  Don't know how you can do the lifting on your job in caring for your friend.  Hope you are able to get some relief.

Papa John, how sad that parents would subject their children to such behavior.

Ruth Ann, glad that Leslie was able to attend your awards event.  Know it met a lot to you.

Sarah, you mentioning that you aided your teachers reminded me that in my last year of highschool I spent most of my time also helping out with various special things for the teachers.  I had worked ahead in my classes and thus had time available for the yearbook staff, school newspaper and other things.  Wow, was that a long time ago.

Chris, thanks for the devotional thoughts of yesterday.  Also Pat, your devotional today on the role that father's need to play with their children is certainly true.

Joyce, hope you don't incur damage from the storms.  I am listening to the radio as I write and Florida is beginning to be pounded.  This is a category 4 storm.

Chris & Margit Saunders

Jenny, I,m afraid that when people become desperate in their yearning for a baby, they become very gullible, all commonsense goes out of the window, they just dont care about the facts, as long as their desires are met.
:(

Liz

I have read today's posts...not the one's for Thursday.  Mentioned being stung by a wasp a few days ago and not feeling well.  Went out to do some watering on Wed. and got stung twice again.  The wasps are everywhere and no amount of caution (no perfume, etc.) seems to stop the monsters.  Have been quite ill the past two days and my leg is a mess.  All the stings on one leg, hah, hah.  At least only limp on one side.  Swollen, sore and itchy.  Makes one dizzy and ill.  I got some cream from the drugstore and that helps a little.  Other than that, must wait it out.  Inside, that is, not outside! >:(

Sonji, I read all the posts and look at all the photo's.  Don't always have time to comment tho', expect that is the case for most.  Didn't read your question as not on the computer.  Have you got a Salvation Army Thrift Store in your area.  They are sometimes good for a variety of things.  Good luck with you search.

Must go now and elevate my leg.  Hate this sort of thing..... :'(

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

I read every post in NEM and all the prayer requests. I try to look at all the photos but do not comment on each one.  I try to do my best in every place on this website and have failed to be diligent in some. I have apologized many times for not commenting to each person and do not answer all the questions ask. Especially when I do not know the answers.

Ruthie I really do not feel stressed  but I do have an occassional bout with BPV. Benign Paroxymal Vertigo.

Thank you Pat for A Closer walk with thee. That was a surprise for me thanks again.

Janet SLOW DOWN  Get some rest.

Larry Good to hear that your earache is gone and that you are feeling much better. Chicken soup has been the best medicine for eons. I don't know what it is about chicken soup but it always works.

Margit thank you for the beautiful photos and scripture. That was sure a nice poem you sent. At least It read like a poem.

Jenny I did't comment on the Fetal cloning for stem cells, I think you already know that I am against it. That Bishop is such a charlatan he needs to be defrocked and sent to jail.

Alma how are you feeling today?

Etta Sue Yes the crock pot is going and it smells sooooo good , I feel sorry for the dogs having to smell it all day while I was at work. Poor babies.   :-\

Liz maybe you should wear one of those beekeeper suits when you go outside. Those wasps are attracted to your scent for some reason. Perhaps you should get some repellent or eat a lot of Garlic. You really need to do something to protect yourself. I feel so bad for you.

Papa John

Nice to see you all today and to read your posts.

I have been following the big storm in Florida today.  It built up to a category 4 hurricane.  There are 100,000 people without power.  There has been a lot of damage but we won’t know for awhile just how much damage has been done.

Cornelia and I went out this morning for a few errands.  We had the oil changed in the car and then ran it through the car wash.  We stopped at the grocery store.  This afternoon we went to a funeral home for a visitation.  A friend of ours at church lost his battle with cancer.  He was 72 years old and a very nice person.

Jenny this story about these fraudulent claims and dealing in new born babies is enough to make one sick.  How can people be so gullible?  I would hope that the authorities would investigate this and put an end to it.

Rom 13:1-4
1   Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
2   Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
3   For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.
4   For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

Good Evening Everyone...

I had lots of errands today.  I had to go to the lab for a Dopplar Test on my neck arteries.  Just as I got out of the car to go in, the rain bucketed down!  I got soaked!

Now, I'm just enjoying a cup of tea and thought I'd come here and sit and read the many posts!  But alas, there aren't many to read.  :'(

Jenny, thanks for sharing further scripture for fathers.  I so appreciate that.

Soni, I read your post too and had absolutely no idea how to reply.  Glad that Etta Sue did!  :)

I am looking forward to the day when you won't be as rushed as well, Ruth Ann!  I thank you so much for looking after our Prayer and Praise area so well.  God bless you.

Papa John, I've been watching the storms on TV and it's just awful down in Florida.  So many SeniorNet friends are there.

Hi Chris!   Great to see you pop in.  Are you busy with roofing these days?

I'm sorry, Liz, about your wasp stings!  That's awful.  We used to carry an eppy pen (I think that was what it was called) for Jack who was very allergic to stings.

I'm so glad you enjoyed "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" Marilyn!  That was a favorite of my mother's so each time I'd go and visit her, she'd ask me to play it on the piano.  Marilyn, was your little roast tasty?  I'd love to have been able to drop in and share it with you.  LOL

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, Larry!  Summer colds are just about the worst to get rid of it seems.

Etta Sue, did you get your grass mowed?  It was raining here off and on so I couldn't do that and I wanted to.  :'(

Till the Storm Passes By
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Mosie Lister

Mark 4:39
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace be still.  And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howl above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,
Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;
In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Pat I can see nothing wrong with our little home away from home here on CP. Maybe there are many on vacations. My roast came out very good it just fell apart after cooking for 8 hours. I would had loved to have you over for supper Pat and a cup of Jasmine tea with and english muffin and homemade Strawberry Jam for desert. For that matter I would love to have any or all of you here over for supper. I love to cook.

Liz, Darrel's Mom used to get stung by wasps (yellow jackets) often while working in the yard.  The first one, her leg swelled up something awful!  So we told her to keep household ammonia on hand and put that on full strength any time she got stung.  She started doing that, and from then on, they never swelled much at all, and didn't hurt.  (Except for that initial jab!)  :(  I hope maybe this might help you too.

Thanks for thinking of me, Marilyn, and I will get some rest after tomorrow.  My daughter and her husband are due to arrive here any time now, and will be taking the boys and leaving in the morning.  I'm ready to slow down for a few days.

Larry, I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling better.  I hate those nasty summer colds.  Thanks for offering to help me with my computer settings, but it is back to normal now.  Thank goodness.

I haven't seen any news, the Olympic opening or anything else I want to watch.  Darrel is watching one TV and the boys the other.  Wednesday night at dinner, I told them all "I am serving notice on everyone in this house that from 7:30 to 8:00 I am going to watch my program; and nobody better bother me!"  Well, they didn't, and guess what?  I fell asleep.......... :-[ :-\ :'(

Addison wants to play a game on here, so guess I will let him.  I had a little message from Mieka, too, and was sorry to have missed her.

Hi, Pat.  I got our itinerary for next month, will copy the pertinent days and send to you.  I am getting excited!

I posted new photos, please go take a look.

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Thanks Papa John for the encouragement but it does get discouraging when we have over 200 members but only a few posts in here and going down in number.  For some reason people are not coming in so thought maybe that we were missing something.

Thanks for "Just A Closer Walk With Thee," Pat.  I don't know how it happened or where I heard it, but one of our "singing cowboys" like Gene Autry or Roy Rogers has sung this song, and every time I here it it sounds like it should have the sound of horses clopping along with it.  Pat - you suggested clicking on JULES, but I didn't find it any place to click on it.

May our Father bring justice upon this man who is trafficing in babies.

Thanks for the advice Janet.  Wendy is going to check and see if she has any ammonia.  I will definately try this as the pain is terrible.  I am not immune to pain as have fought Arthritis of the upper and lower spine since my twenties and fibromyalgia since 1980....so not exactly a sissy.  Simply find that this is keeping me tied to a chair and getting most grumpy :-\

Pat, the site is fine and it is not anything that is missing.  Only people who take an interest.  We have more time than young members and even then don't always make it to post.  Always worth the visit and certain that traffic will improve come fall.  This site is a real blessing to many and am sure that if even one person is helped....that is what God wants.  Please don't get discouraged.  That is what the enemy wants.  I read sometimes in the Religious Sites on Sr. Net and find many posts and few worth reading.  So large in quantity is not always best!!

God Bless,

Liz

Al, down at the bottom of the main page, it says who's birthday it is.  Jules is in bold letters.
