Morning Devotional...

Matthew 6:11.  "Our daily bread give to us today."

Have you ever heard anyone say something like, "God is so great.  He's far too great to be concerned about my little life from day to day.  I think He expects us to deal with our own mundane affairs."

But Jeus didn't talk that way and He didn't  teach that way.  And, after all, He ought to know.  He was - and still is Immanuel, which is a word that means "God with us."  Not only so, but when He promised His disciples, "...lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matt. 28:20), He wasn't merely being mystical.  he meant that He would be right there so that He could reach into their moment-by-moment lives and make an observable difference.

Jesus is indeed the transcendant God, but He is also the immenent Savior Who walks and talks with us daily.

It was just such a Savior Who taught His disciples to pray, "Our daily bread give to us today" (literal translation).  For that reason, you need to ask, "Am I unsure I'll have enough money to pay the rent this month?"  And how about needed clothing or groceries?  Your Savior invites you - yea, commands you - to ask your caring heavenly Father to supply daily your specific needs.

May the Mind of Christ, My Saviour
(Click to hear music)

Let this mind be in you,
which was also in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:5

Author:  Kate B. Wilkinson, 20th Century
Musician:  Arthur C. Barham-Gould, 1891-1953

May the mind of Christ, my Saviour,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and pow'r controlling
All I do and say.

May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His pow'r.

May the peace of God, my Father,
Rule my life in ev'rything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.

May the love of Jesus fill me,
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.

May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.

May His beauty rest upon me
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

Good evening/morning folks.  I was involved in a club championship golf tournament this weekend and wasn't as active online as normal.  An assigned 11:00 tee time this morning, forced me to miss services.  My church only offers services once on Sunday's, so I was left to convene with God on my own.

Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend.

Hi everyone.  I was awoken this morning by the chirping of one of the fire detectors indicating the battery was low.  Fortunately it was one I had in my office that was easy to reach.  I will get a new battery today as didn't have any 9v batteries in the house that weren't being used.

We had quite a marathon yesterday.  We a very fine Sunday School lesson, starting the study of James, and a good church service.  Then a group of us went to a restruarant that we often patronize on Sundays and there was the biggest crowd I think we had ever seen there.  The bottom line was we waited for over an hour and it was 3 pm before we got home.  I wouldn't want to do that every Sunday but it was made more tenable as we were with good friends.

I have several errors to run this morning.  I have lost my debit card and must be the number cancelled and a new one.  It must have fallen out of my billfold and I didn't notice it.  Fortunately a person would have to know the pin  number.  I just checked the account and all is fine on that regard.  I think after three tries the card is held, at least that usually happens in an ATM machine.

The housekeeper is due today and then this evening we are going to Red Lobster for an 80th birthday celebration.

Al, thanks for the fine devotional for today. It is comforting to know that Jesus is there for us every minute of everyday.

Ohenry how did you do on your golf outing?  Hope you were satisfied with your play.  Golf is not something I have ever enjoyed playing as it was just too frustrating and I had no natural talent and couldn't afford lessons when I was trying to play.  I gave my clubs away many years ago so I would never have to play again.

Ruth Ann, sorry about your son's dog.  We become very attached and certainly suffer grief when we lose our pets.

Ed, glad you were successful in putting your photo on the web.

Marilyn, playing the music too loud is just plain rude and inconsiderate.  I hope they tone it down at your church. It is nice of you to carry extra ear plugs to share with others.

Liz, my wife won't be attending the Opry, just staying at the hotel associated with it for the quilting convention.  We have never attended the Grand Ole Opry although would have liked to do so.  I like country music very much.

A special hi to all of you who have posted, or will post today, where I haven't mentioned you by name.  It is about time to leave for coffee and still have to feed the cat this morning.

I'm glad SOMEBODY got to play golf this weekend.  Travis and I got rained out Saturday, and Sunday just isn't an option for me.  We hit the driving range a lot of Sunday afternoons, but I don't like golfing on Sunday.  I've done it, but I just feel like I'm not properly observing my "Sabbath" when I do that.  No stone to throw, just expressing my personal position about it :)

By the way, ohenry, you might want to check out www.travisshuford.com for a little ongoing blog about our little boy and his golf :)

Good morning, everyone.  I love the devotional about a personal God.  Good one.

Good morning

Larry, I did OK....I basically shot my handicap for the tournament, so it was a victory for myself, albeit not the field.

Nards, I understand your position and generally share those same thoughts.  This was an annual club championship and not the norm.  I did not feel ill at ease about playing, however.  I missed one church service, but I did not miss one moment of time with God.  Thanks for the story.  I had heard it retold before, but had not had the opportunity to read it firsthand.

Al, thanks for the reminder in your devotional this morning.  Having a personal relationship with God is a blessed relationship.

Good Morning Thanks Al for the devotional.

Larry I have an appointment with my Pastor this morning to disuss some of my concerns and my Greeter ministry as well.

Pat: The cost to have your roof done is about average but it is possible that if you pay cash you will not have to pay the GST.  Also like your new picture.

Larry:  We have been to the Grand Ole Opry but we did not stay at the hotel, it is very beautiful but just a little too much money for a one night stay.

Ruthie: Good to see you here.

Marilyn:  Share your quilt with us when it is finished.

Judy B:  Keep the frost up there and remember the snow will soon be on its way.

We had a busier then normal week-end, We went to meet a cousin in Newmarket for lunch, had to be home by 1:30 as by brother was coming and then a phone call after arriving home resulted in more visitors and dinner in Bolton.    Sunday turned out to be busy also  company at noon resulting in them coming back much later for dinner I did the cooking this time.  Then in between that we had another caller.  I am glad it is Monday the pase has slowed down.  But I must head out to the store for a couple of items.

Have a great day

Sorry.  I confused your blog with another story about a young golfer.  I had only briefly read it and didn't realize it wasn't the same young boy that I had heard a story about.  I'll look into it a little deeper later.

Ri-i-i-ing! (My phone ringing)  Hello?  (Ivalou calling)  Have you had breakfast yet?  No, I just got up.  Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to Lowe's with me and get something to eat?
Well, I haven't even gotten my trash together yet.  When are you planning on leaving?  Oh, not until 10 or 10:15.  Sure, I can be ready then....So Ivalou and I went to Lowe's and then ate at Bob Evans.  It rained on our way to Noblesville but it wasn't raining when we got back so I mowed my yard...my but it grows fast!!

So now I am all squeeky clean and about ready to go to Photography Guild tonight.  Kitty is in Ohio but hopes to be home in time for us to go eat and then go to lessons before guild.  Her SIL called and said she will probably drive on her own because she wants to leave early.  Okay...whatever.

Cloudy and gloomy here today and soooooo humid!  80 degrees and 74% humidity!  Hot and sticky!

I thought of you last week, Etta, when I visited a customer and saw "Noblesville, Indiana" on a piece of equipment that we are studying.  A small company named B&C Fabricating made part of the machine.  It made me smile to think that I knew someone named Etta who lived near there...

Sorry, kinda sentimental, I guess, but I'm very thankful for this board, where I have met some awesome people virtually and actually met some of you in person :)  It does bring sad memories of Jerry, too, I must confess.  I remember sitting in Etta's yard talking with him about his truck driving days while Travis bumbled about playing in that thick grass that Etta was talking about mowing...

Thanks for the memories :)

EDIT - "Newcomers" to the board probably won't remember Jerry, but many of us do.  Sorry.

I had a 2½ hour meeting with my Pastor at Denney's Restaurant. It was a very successful meeting and I am pleased with the outcome. We discussed all the things that  were on my mind and I am very satisfied with his answers.

Well, I've had such a busy weekend.  Kathleen went home for the weekend but I got my 16 year old grandson and Ian came late this evening to pick him up and they haven't long gone!

So, that's why I'm so late in here.  Sorry!
