JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Be Skillful

"The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing."
(Psalm 34:10)

Did you know that, according to the Word of God, there is no lack in the Body of Christ? Everything we could ever need, every problem we could ever face has been covered by the blood of Jesus. His exceeding great and precious promises have supplied it all.

Why then do many of us keep on suffering lack? Because we haven't, as Hebrews 5:13 says, become skillful in the Word of righteousness.

It takes skill to apply the Word of God. Sometimes we just sling the Word around and try to use it any old way. We pray some ignorant prayer and then say, "Oh well, God knows what I mean" and expect it to be answered.

It's funny though. We'd never stand for that kind of carelessness in the natural realm. If our doctor came in and just threw a bottle of pills at us and said, "Here, take that," without even trying to find out what's wrong with us, we'd leave his office and never come back. Yet, we're shocked when that same careless attitude in the spiritual realm keeps our prayers from being effective.

We live in an "instant" society where everything is quick and easy. And too many of us are letting that instant mentality leak over into our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. When someone needs healing, we bust through the hospital door, dab a little oil between their eyes and say, "Glory to God!" and out the door we go. Sometimes it doesn't take any longer than "In the Name of Jesus be healed!" But sometimes there is something else that must be done.

The time has come for us to shake off that "instant" mentality and realize that there are situations where we're going to have to take some time and pray in the Holy Ghost. Times when we're going to have to sit there and listen for God's instructions.

If you've come up short in any area of life--whether it be healing or finances or anything else--determine to develop your Word skills where that area is concerned. Get out your Bible. Read through all the healing scriptures. Read through all the miracle scriptures. Read through all the promises of God. Read through all the blessings of Abraham.

Meditate on them. Ask God to speak to you through them and to enlighten you about the situation you're facing. Don't just sling the Word around. Dig into it. Fellowship with your Father over it. Let Him show you how to apply it skillfully, and eventually, you'll lack no good thing.

I like the devotional, Janet.  Thanks for sharing.

Good morning to all of you!  It's a beautiful day here in WNC; I'd LOVE to be on a golf course getting my feet wet with the dew!  Oh, well, somehow that doesn't work out.

Thought for the day - Most of the time when I claim God isn't talking to me, it's more correct that He simply isn't saying what I want to hear.

Thanks for the devotional Janet.

THE SAFEST PLACE - How to stay safe in the world today.

1. Avoid riding in automobiles because they are responsible for 20% of all fatal accidents.

2. Do not stay home because 17% of all accidents occur in the home.

3. Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks because 14% of all accidents occur to pedestrians.

4. Avoid traveling by air, rail, or water because 16% of all accidents involve these forms of transportation.

5. Of the remaining 33%,  32% of all deaths occur in Hospitals.     So, ... above all else, avoid hospitals.

BUT,... You will be pleased to learn that only .001% of all deaths occur in worship services in church, and these are usually related to previous physical disorders. Therefore, logic tells us that the safest place for you to be at any given point in time is at church!

...And....Bible study is safe too.    The percentage of deaths during Bible study is even less.

So,...for SAFETY'S sake - Attend church, and read your Bible IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and Pat has gone to her quilting guild meeting so have the house to myself.

I think I mentioned the problem I was having regarding the financing of my new computer.  It was suppose to be 12 months no interest but when I got the statement it was just a regular account with interest charges.  I disputed the account and yesterday I found it had been made into the no interest account.  I went ahead and paid off all but a couple hundred dollars of the bill and will pay that over the next two months.  I was glad to get that resolved.

It is still overcast here and not too hot.  Our yards and the surrounding countryside looks like spring as everything is very green again, rather strange for the middle of August.

We had a very nice time last night at the 80th birthday party for one of our friends at the Red Lobster.  There were eleven in attendance, mainly from our Sunday School class.  We had good service, good food and a great time.

Marilyn, glad you got your concerns addressed with your pastor.

Hope everyone has a very nice day.

Ali is sick   :'(  It must be a kidney or bladder infection.  She has been in the litter box many times already today and nothing.  She is hunting for corners...nothing.  She cries that mournful cry.  Inky looks at her as if to say 'Whats the matter, Ali?'  She did this once before and finally got okay.

Nards ~ I do remember your visit here well.  Wide open spaces, right?  I am sure my terrain is quite different than yours, for sure.  Wish you all would come back for a visit.  I looked up B&C Fabricating in the phone book since I wasn't familiar with that name and nothing was listed.  Must be a new venture.  And I miss Jerry, too.   :'(

Today is Euchere for Ivalou and I.

Please pray for Ali...she is my beautiful, special kitty.

It's actually been probably 15 or so years since the equipment was built; they've probably gone out of business.

Yes, our terrain is totally different.  Rather amazing, in a way, that God engineered the world the way he did, such that different locations have such different features and surroundings.  All that flat land up there is just amazing to me :)

Temp is 53°.

I'm home!

I got up early this morning and Kathleen was supposed to be at work at Wendy's at 11 am but when she got up, she couldn't open her eyes.  They were so swollen and under them was swelling like half golf balls.  She must have had an allergic reaction to something.  Gave her benedryl and phoned to say she couldn't come in till later.

Then I had two appointments to go to and I rushed home and decided to pick some blackberries.  All the time I was picking I was complaining to myself that the mosquitos were bad, and the silly little flies were bothersome and why did I need these blackberries anyway!

I came into the house and a friend phoned and we chatted for awhile and she wondered where I could get her some blueberries as she's got melanoma in her brain and her abdomen and blueberries are wonderful food for the body--especially for cancer.  So I asked her, "What about blackberries?"  She said that they were almost as good but she didn't know about a source for them.  I told her I'd be right over.  I took a quart container heaped up with massive sweet blackberries and I thanked the Lord for such a wonderful harvest that I could help a friend.

Now I have to price blueberries at the market for her on Saturday.  She has brain surgery in 10 days and then they'll try to deal with the cancer in her abdomen.

I was telling Laura about Jack's devotionals and she's requested that I print them out for her.  Please pray that as the words go across to her home along with the next quart of blackberries that Jack's words will be used to further the Gospel message in that home.

Thanks Lord for the blackberries this year!

So, I've been very busy today doctoring a sick granddaughter and then doing other things.

Jesus Paid It All
(Click to hear music)

Thy Name is as ointment poured forth.
Song of Solomon 1:3

Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.
Isaiah 1:18

Words: Elvina M. Hall, 1865
Music: John T. Grape

I hear the Savior say,
'Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.'

Refrain
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim,
I'll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv'ry's Lamb.

Refrain

And now complete in Him
My robe His righteousness,
Close sheltered 'neath His side,
I am divinely blest.

Refrain

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper's spots
And melt the heart of stone.

Refrain

When from my dying bed
My ransomed soul shall rise,
"Jesus died to my soul to save,"
Shall rend the vaulted skies.

Refrain

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
I'll lay my trophies down
All down at Jesus' feet.

Refrain

I finally got back home at 4:30 after doing a couple of errands. I had to buy a nice white tablecloth to use at church for a table that I am setting up in the foyer for the Evangel magazines and the weekly Bulletin. That way I can free up my hands and be a more effective greeter, instead of running around the sanctuary passing out everything, The people can pick them  up as they come in the door.

I also had to pick up some flea drops for Jan's cat at the vet. We have the same vet.

I also have been working some more on my quilt, I still have 12 more sets of squares to sew together I will have a total of 24 10 X 10 squares to work with on the quilt top, each 10" square will be separated from the next buy a small strip of dark purple.
TMI I suppose.

Well I'll see you all in about a week. I'm leaving thursday to go up to our convention's church camp up near Roscommon Michigan.
the men's group from our church is going to join with another church for a service project Friday. We'll be camping out over the weekend and maybe go canoing on the Ausable river on Saturday.
You might be a dog lover if:
You have more dog toys in your bed than people.

Have a wonderful time, Smokey!  Ausable River?  In Michigan?  Isn't there one called that in New York in the Adirondacks?

Enjoy your time!

Now, Carl, more reading for you.  Part 3 of Jack's "Shepherd's Psalm"  Hope you all enjoy it.
