Morning Devotional...

Jesus in the Temple Again
Luke 2:41-52  NLT

41Every year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. 42When Jesus was twelve years old, they attended the festival as usual. 43After the celebration was over, they started home to Nazareth, but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents didn't miss him at first, 44because they assumed he was with friends among the other travelers. But when he didn't show up that evening, they started to look for him among their relatives and friends. 45When they couldn't find him, they went back to Jerusalem to search for him there. 46Three days later they finally discovered him. He was in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, discussing deep questions with them. 47And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

48His parents didn't know what to think. "Son!" his mother said to him. "Why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been frantic, searching for you everywhere."

49"But why did you need to search?" he asked. "You should have known that I would be in my Father's house."  50But they didn't understand what he meant.

51Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them; and his mother stored all these things in her heart. 52So Jesus grew both in height and in wisdom, and he was loved by God and by all who knew him.

The second chapter of Luke shows us that although Jesus was unique, he had a normal childhood and adolescence.  In terms of development, he went through the same progression we do.  He grew physically and mentally, he related to other people, and he was loved by God.

A full human life is not unbalanced.  It was important to Jesus--and it should be important to all believers--to develop fully and harmoniously in these key areas:  physical, mental, social and spiritual.  Make sure you're letting God help you grow in each of these areas.

Welcome to all the new members again.

I will be going to the dentist early in the morning so I decided to post now before retiring to bed.

Good news about Kristi...at least, you will know more next week.

So glad that Beth left on her flight to see John okay.  Seven weeks....that is a long time but at least, Mom can keep in touch by phone and emails.  God be with Beth all the time.

I know there are many others I should comment about...I can just see Ty and Rocko moping around for each other.  And I understand how frustrated Melaura is trying to help in the sewing...I remember those days.

Time for beddy-bye!

Thanks for the devotional, Etta Sue.  It is strange to think about a young Jesus causing his parents concern!  Guess some things have always been the same for families...... ::)

I keep getting a message saying someone else has posted....went back and it's not true!  Elves playing games again?

Sorry little Krista is still having problems and will certainly pray about the matter.  Also for Beth as she visits John.  Hope that all will go well for them and it will be a memory she treasures for a long while.  Try not to worry Janet.

Our weather is slightly cooler, tho' rain would be most welcome.  We did have a shower last night....Forests have become quite dry and that is a danger for fires.  I am not filled with vim and vigor at the moment so do enjoy the cooler temp. right now.  Misty must be enjoying it also, can't get her to come in tonight.  Sometimes she will not respond and we worry about the Racoons and dogs that are out roaming the area.

Went to Market with Wendy today.  Stopped for a cup of coffe and the cup had a hole in the bottom and I got coffee all over my white slacks.  Still trying to remove the stain.....Rats!!!  The kids have been married 24 yrs. now and SIL took Wendy out for dinner tonight.  So I cooked for Amanda and her girlfriend, who is visiting.  Amanda had the day off as she is only working part time.

Not much excitement in my life at the moment, so will post a little smile:

The minister was preaching on the evils of drink. He first said he would like to gather up all the wine and dump it in the river. Then he moved on to beer and said he would like to get all the beer and dump it in the river, and then all other forms of alcohol to be dumped into the river. The choir director's face began to show a worried look. The first hymn they were scheduled to sing was "Shall we gather at the river?"

;D ;D ;D

I liked that one!  While I was having my leaky coffee, a friend told me about a nun who had recently left the Catholic Church.  Seems she has quite a sense of fun and was telling them jokes one evening.  Remarked about how while in the church she was married to Jesus and he was her husband.  Then laughed and asked if that now made him her ex......True story!  Interesting question.

Pleasant evening/day all and God Bless.

Pat, thank you for commenting on my "green" posts.  I'm glad to be back in CP.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional thoughts.  I was reminded of the different phases of our lives.  We were children, teenagers, young adults, adults, middle aged, and elderly.  I am now in that elderly stage.  Every period of our lives has its advantages.  I know I am enjoying being old and I'm taking every day as it comes.

In this life, however, we do have sickness, pain, suffering, death.  We have to deal with disappointments and sorrow.  Yet we can find happiness and rejoicing as children of God.

Psalm  90:9-12  All our days pass away under your wrath; we finish our years with a moan.  The length of our days is seventy years-- or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.  Who knows the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due you.  Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.  (NIV)

Rom 8:18  I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.  (NIV)

Phil 4:4-7  Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Thank you for that, Papa John.  It is early here and I needed something to make the day better.  Your kindly posts are a wonderful way to better understand the meaning of being a Christian.  This troubled world is making such understanding, more difficult every hour.  Please don't go away from CP again......

God Bless,

On being the age we are - I have a friend who had a heart transplant five or so years ago and she tells me to celebrate each birthday for at least a week and even more if possible.

Janet:  How exciting for Beth.  Take time for yourself, just you and Darrel.  My best to you.

Pat:  Hello and good wishes to you.  That should be enough equipment failure for many a year!

Good Morning  Thank you Etta Sue for the devotional today and thank you toPapa John for your thought today also.

I am calling about another house right here in McKinleyville in about 30  minutes, then I am going to the Hospital for my blood draw then on to work. Today is my Loooooooooong day 3 jobs in one day.

I washed my car yesterday before I went to Bible Study and I has rained on my nice clean car. so I guess the rain is all my fault. LOL

Sorry that I have not been replying to each on who posts,  Karma I do pray that your pediatrician gets to the bottom of Kristi's problem.

Hello all!  Just taking a breather before I get ready for the activities of the day.  I'm going to try and get Kristi to take the "medicine" needed for the xray in a few minutes.  Should be interesting to say the least.  Then, she has her 6months well-baby visit today, complete with shots.  yuck.

Travis is playing with her again.  I think he is trying to teach her to read.  He "writes" a ""word" on a piece of paper then holds it up and says, "This says . . . ."  Now he is playing with his Jay Jay the Jet Plane toys.

Rainy rainy here today.  But that is okay.  Keeps me from wanting to go outside to escape what needs to be done inside.  :)  Of course, one of these days, I gotta get my camera out and take some pictures.  It's been a while.

Gonna run now!  Take care.

Hi everyone.  I am using a different method today so I won't lose my posting in case my computer decides to do its thing and reboot at random.  I am using a text editor and will try to save after each paragraph.  That way I can quickly recover.

Janet, glad to see you are back home and that all went well in Dodge.  While you will still be worried about Beth this should still be a time where you can relax since there is nothing that you could do immediately if there was any problems.  Glad you had such a nice time with your friend.  I am sure you are a special friend to her.

JudyB, it sounds like your sewing project is going well.  It is amazing what we can accomplish with a fixed deadline.

Nita, I have a very comfortable leather recliner but never sleep in it.  My good friend Rod says he often goes to sleep in his chair in front of his computer.

Karmat, it sounds like your doctor is on top of the situation for your little girl and that this test should tell them quite a bit.

Pat, meeting can become so tiresome.  However, with a meal it makes it a little less so.  Hope you slept well during the night.

Welcome to Ardie, Trish and all the folks who have recently joined us.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional.  Hope your dental appointment goes well.

Liz, I wish I could share some of the rain we are having.  We have predicted thunderstorms and showers for this afternoon and evening.  We have already had our normal rainfall for the year and it still looks like spring around here as everything is so green.

Papa John, I try to follow your philosphy of enjoying each and everyday that God has allowed me to have.

Carol, having had lots of heart problems I certainly understand your friends attitude.  I am very happy to celebrate each new birthday.

Marilyn, maybe this will be the house for you and you will be able to stay in the area where you are.  Doesn't it always rain right after you get your car all washed.

Good morning!

Liz, I think you must be getting my email notifications, as mine have suddenly stopped again.  Very annoying.  Would you mind explaining about Amanda having to wait to enroll in college?  I don't quite understand that.  Hope your vim and vigor return soon.

Karma, Kristi will be the best educated little girl around, with big brother Travis as her teacher!  ;D  You should write these little things down, maybe in a Word document, to tell them about later.  I wish I had written down more of the cute things my kids did.  Have you gotten the "medicine" down Kristi yet?

Etta Sue, good devotional today.  I have often thought about how Jesus was a young boy.  It is fun to imagine, since we do not have much Scripture on that part of his life.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS!  WE ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE YOU WITH US!!

Papa John, I always smile when your green post shows up!  You have such a wonderful, kindly attitude; and always have appropriate scriptures to share with us.  I echo Liz.....please don't go away again!  We need you here.

Carol, how is the weather in Colorado now?  I am going to Denver tomorrow with a busload of women to attend the Women of Faith Conference at the Pepsi Center.  Thanks for your kind thougts and words about Beth.

Larry, I think Darrel sleeps almost as many hours in his recliner as he does in bed!  And I sometames take a short nap in mine, too.  Would you send some of your excess rain up our way?  We could sure use it.

Marilyn, hope you find a house soon.  Don't work too hard today.

My day is full again, as I have my class this afternoon, plus getting ready to go to Denver, getting a family newsletter out, and going to the send-off dinner for Mark tonight.  I hope you all have a great day and accomplish whatever is on your agenda, too!  ;D

Sorry Janet.  Your emails must still be spinning around in space  >:(

About Amanda....I don't understand all the problems with our education system.  The site for Camosun College still shows openings for all sorts of stuff.  Only problem is, the courses are all full and a huge waiting list for starting.  Amanda will have at least one year before starting her university courses...this is a university college.  Not a money or marks problem.  Simply no room at the inn.  May even be two years...no promises made.  She has to take two years at this college and then plans to enter UVic for the rest.  It is the best plan for her and also many others....it seems!  She is registered and also for a couple of courses to take this year while waiting to get into her art studies.  Her best friend, who also wants to go into, I believe it is medicine, is in the same sitiuation.  They are on a waiting list for those as well....Not a word was said in the schools about problems to get their post-secondary education.  Most parents are in the dark about all the existing problems.

The thing is simply that our education system is becoming something of a joke, along with the health care and lots of other stuff.  I won't go any further about the subject....I am feeling really angry about stuff right now and greed, corruption, etc. are high on my list!!  Of course, the Olympics are high on their list of priorities......'nuff said!

God Bless,

Liz

Thanks Etta Sue for opening today's New Every Morning.

I've been out running errands and now I'm going to have a nap!  Can you believe that?

I'm so tired and all this talk about folks in recliners, etc. has made me start to yawn so I'm off to lie down.  I was taking close up photos of a spider this morning and I must see if any turned out.

Pat, I still want you to put YOUR photo back on here---how about it?  Somehow, that little critter just isn't YOU.  Hope you get a nice nap.

Thanks for the explanation, Liz.  I agree---millions of $$$ for games, sports, studies of stupid things like the sex life of an earthworm---and no money to educate our kids?  Something is wrong with this picture!

My ladies will be here in a few minutes, I was just checking for messages from Beth---there are none.  I guess that is good, means she is having a good time, but---I still want to hear from her!

Gotta run!

Mom, at least with a phone call, I know you're home safe!

Marilyn, may this be the house for you!

Janet, I'm sure that Beth will be in touch, just in her time, not yours... ::)

Now, am thinking that some chocolate chip cookies are in order so should get busy making them.

Yes I think this may be the place. I went over to see it today and met with the landlord. The place is a shambles right now but they are doing a total remodel on the place. The former tenants had to be gotten out by the Sheriff. They said the lady used to be real clean and a very good tenant but she got tangled up with a druggie and everything went down hill from there. I could not believe the amount of trash bags and junk int he yard and the mess in the house.

It is very small just  three rooms and a laundry room. The yard is large both in front and the back yard. Fully fenced dogs welcome. When i get the place I will take photos so you can see too. Last night when I went to church Pastor Danny and I claimed it as mine before I eve saw the inside.

I know it won't cheer you up any, Liz, but things down here aren't any better.  Man's sin sometimes sticks out like a very sore thumb!

Pat - I agree (again!) with Janet - we need your true picture on here, not that little critter for which we would ordinarily set a baited trap!

Well, we had about an hour and a half of sun today, but the fog is back now.  But we still think this is where the best climate is - neither too hot/humid nor too cold/icy.  So thanks be to our Lord!

I am stopping by to bid you all farewell for a couple of days.  We had a nice visit with our kids, and gave Mark lots of hugs and good wishes as he heads off to college tomorrow.  Abby had a good first day of second grade and was all excited.  They just grow up 'way too fast. :-\

I am chatting on MSN with Beth and John.  They went up to the Thousand Islands today and took a luncheon cruise!  Most of his family went along---sisters, brothers in law, brother, sis in law and a couple of neices, he said.  They might go to the Herkimer County Fair tomorrow.  So it sounds like they are doing great.  Now I can breathe easier.

I have to be at the church before 7:30 in the morning, and I still need to shower, wash my hair and pack a few things.  So I think I'd best get with it!  See all of you on Sunday afternoon, I think.

Sure is quiet that time of day, isn't it, Nita.  I was up at about 4:20 this morning, and I've been reediting my Romans study and praying - it's a beautiful time for that.  Gotta go do our weekly grocery shopping this morning, and besides that it's Marbeth's birthday today.  Actually, we went to Oriental Buffet yesterday, so maybe just Subway today.  Gotta do these things today because tomorrow our church has its monthly "Kettlefest" (you surely can't call it a "potluck!").  We're hoping our dear extra kids/grandkids start back today from their trip to LA.  They might not start 'til tomorrow, though.  It's about 700 miles, which is a whole lot of driving for one day!  May our Lord keep them safe and happy.

Hi everyone.  Al I send happy birthday wishes to Marbeth.

JudyB, glad to see you are out from under the pressure of the sewing.

Janet, glad to see the report that all is going well with Beth and John.  Know you will rest better now and enjoy your trip more.  Hope you have a great time.

Marilyn, I do hope you get the house.  I used to own a rental house and I had tenants wreck it as well.  Fortunatley my son lived in it the last 13 years we had it and he didn't do any damage to it.  It was a most happy day when I signed the papers to sell it and never want another rental property.

Pat, I hope you have or will have had a nice trip to pick up your grandson.  Whoops, see you were posting as I was writing and that you now have the flu.  Please take care of yourself and don't worry about us here.

I am not going to try to mention everyone posting today as have a lot of things I want to get done.

Hope everyone has a good day.

We love because he first loved us.

1 John 4:19, New International Version

We love others because God has first loved us. Our Heavenly Father taught us how to love in Jesus. Our Abba Father has given us security and confidence so we can love more fully. Our Holy and Almighty God loved us boldly and sacrificially so we could properly understand and define love. We are not the source of love; God is. We are not the great example of love; God is. We tend to be careful and share our love with only those with whom we want to share it: God's love is expansive and open to all. We love because he first loved us.

Forgive me, Righteous Father, for the times that I have been careful and guarded with my love of your children. Please help me to love others as you have loved me. I ask especially for today that I might use your love to touch someone who needs it in a special way, whether they respond favorably to that love or not. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Pat I am praying for you right now.

Good Morning I have just seen on TV that there was a terrible tornado in Wisconsin.

Not a busy day today. I did have an awful migraine yesterday so Fay sent me on home after only 45 minutes at her house. But today I only have Fay to go to then on to have my nails done.
y special little treat to myself since I am no longer a smoker and this costs less per month that the cigarettes did. It has been 1 year and 10 monthsa since I quit. Praise the Lord.

Had a problem with my cable internet connection this mronign and had to call Cox it that took up some of my time this morning, sitting here on the phone and waiting for the computer to do what it is supposed to do. There was a glitch at their end. I thought the modem had gone.

Nards I am going to go back and read the blogs on Taz and  the Princess.

Hello all:  Just looked at the clock it is now afternoon.

We had rain for a good part of last night and today so far it is the day after a rain.

Janet:  I am pleased  that you have heard from Beth & John you will now have a light heart.

Papa John:  So nice to see you back.

Marilyn:   I am so glad that the cigarettes are gone.  Praise the Lord.  Now we just need to hear about your housing.

Pat:  Get Well

Hey my cow problem is solved but now I am wondering with the digital camera's and printing and keeping certain photo's for the album - do you print them at home or do you has the pro. camera shops do them for you.  I have been on a web site that a camera shop has and they are suggesting that their printing will have a longer life compared to doing them at home and of course the cost will be less - paper and ink being a part of their reason.

Now to get a bite for lunch.

I pray, Father, that You'll give Pat comfort and rest - that she'll feel completely at peace.  And I pray You'll heal her cold quickly as well.  Through our Lord, do these things, Father.

Nards - good blogs.  Put the links on here occasionally - we'd like to see 'em.

Well, I didn't go and get James last evening due to not feeling well so had to go today and I drove through the absolute worst weather!  I had lightening and thunder happening at the same time with high winds and rain and fog too.  I couldn't see the stores in Erin on the sides of the road.  We had hail about half the size of golf balls and one chipped my front window or maybe it might have been a stone flying off a truck.

Now I'm home and we're still having it.  Just had a tornado warning sent in the email.

I'll chat later.  Have to get this temperature down.

Ruth, I have found that having someone else print my pictures is cheaper for me.  Of course, we don't have a photo quality printer at home, but . . .  If you want somewhere online, I like adorama.com or snapfish.com. Not sure how shipping would work to Canada or outside US, though,

Hope ya'll are having a good day.  I've got ot go to Knoxville, TN in the mornign for a Mary Kay meeting/event, and I'm trying to get as much housework done today as I can so I don't have to do it tomorrow when I get home.  (Simply becaause I know I won't do it tomororw!)

Thanks Karma...

Ruth, my brother, Murray, did an experiment with 6 photos all the same and took them to three different places we all have access to.  I forget where the first two were but they were 64 cents per print.  He went to Walmart and they were 25 cents per print.  (We're speakin gof 4x6) and the only ones that were any good and realistic looking were the Walmart ones at 25 cents.  He, being a photographer, was very critical of colours, grain, etc. and was thrilled that the least expensive was the best deal.  I saw them and agreed with him.

I thought I posted this but I just previewed it and then it wouldn't let me post...said it was searching for www.christianphotographers.com.  But I did save it so here it is........

What a lovely day today.  I called Ivalou and asked her is she would like to go shopping.  I wanted to go to a K-Mart since what I wanted I can only find at K-Mart.  There are still two K-Marts in Indianapolis so we headed to Indianapolis.  We shopped...walked all over the store...and did get what I went after.  I noticed a Mexican restauramt near K-Mart and went to that restaurant.  It was 11:15 a.m. and the parking lot was full.  We went in and nearly every table was full.  The prices were what they were about three years ago and the food was excellent.  When we left, people were standing in a line outside waiting to get in.  My kind of restaurant.

We then went to Hobby Lobby.  They didn't have what I wanted.  Ivalou bought a greeting card...we were big spenders there.

On the way back, Ivalou said she had something terrible to tell me.  I had no idea what she was about to say.  But it seems that the earrings that I gave her for her birthday July 22 broke.  She caught them in a blouse and one earring broke.  So I asked her if she still had it.  Yes.  So we came home...she got the earrings...I got my receipt and we went to Noblesville to Wal Mart to exchange them.  No problem exchanging them.  And she got the same kind but this time she said she would be more careful with them.

Now at 5 p.m. we are going to a Fish Fry at the church where we are going to have our 45th Class Reunion.  Ivalou and I haven't done all day things like this for years.  It feels good to be with her like this.  God is good.

We are not captive anymore - well, the frontage road on which we live was topped with tar layer and we could not drive on it for 24 hours which meant walking about a block and a half on the side of the golf course and around to the car.  Watching for those golfers.  Yesterday, when we had to walk it there was a lot of lightning and a storm passed over with nary a drop of rain.

Pat:  You are fighting a temperature?  That doesn't sound good at all.  And, it sounds like you have a grandson visiting - what a time for you.

Larry:  I understand what you mean about celebrating birthdays.  We should celebrate every day.

Etta Sue:  What a great graphic on the cat with a duck today.  Thanks for your message as well.

We have had another extremely hot day today.  Our thermometer got up to 100 degrees.  I believe that officially it got up to 98.

This afternoon Cornelia and I went to see The March of the Penguins.  The photography was absolutely fabulous.  I believe the story of how those little animals go to such lengths to reproduce and how the mates even after being separated are able to find each other tell us something about God's creation.  Also we see the devotion of the parents to their offspring which says something about faithfulness and family ties.  Anyway we enjoyed it.

Gen 1:20-23
20   And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky."
21   So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
22   God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth."
23   And there was evening, and there was morning-- the fifth day.
