Morning Devotional...

He went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
Luke 6:12

Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
Mark 14:38

At seven critical moments in the Gospel of Luke the Lord Jesus is seen praying.

Three of His parables centered on the subject of prayer.

He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane and He died praying.

Let us remember that the servant is not above his Lord in all things, prayer included.
--W. Ross Rainey

In the silence of my chamber
I may with my Saviour share
All my worries and my troubles
As I talk with Him in prayer.

Pat Thanks for the apt Devotional.

After 3 nights of sweating and coughing etc., I am still feeling poorly and yes indeed I have talked to the Lord "in the silence of my chamber" because at times like these all our troubles seem to be magnified.

I am just calling in to say "Hello, Hi there."

Larry, this is some sort of Summer flu I think and it is very lowering.  Hope you feel much better now brother.

Ruth Ann.  Do take care dear and get into that bed sooner rathr than later.

Al I will [pop into Psalms again soon.  I haven't forgotten you Pastor.  ;)

See you all when I feel "in the pink" again.

The Lord Bless Everyone.
Jenny.

                                         HELP ME STAND

Lord, when weakness seems to be
the very essence of my days,

Hello everyone! :)

I can see that it has been 10 days since I have been here on NEM.  During that time my very close friend's SIL died so unexpectedly with a massive heart attack and in a wreck. We went to Charleston right during Charley last Friday & Saturday for the visitation and funeral.  The funeral was called off on Sat because of Charley and postphoned to Monday.
Charley was kind and there was not much damage at all to the East Coast. We were eating breakfast at the motel when she/he passed by and only saw some wind and rain.  Anyway these past 10 days have seemed like a long  time.

I've only been on-line for a little while and then in the prayer section.

God's blessings on all......kathy ;)

Good morning, friends,

It's such a blessing to be able to spend time in prayer. I sat outside on the beautiful patio at work Monday during my lunchtime. The weather was warm, the sunshine was nice, the patio is large and accommodates many benches and tables and has large urns filled with beautiful flowers. Such a great meditation spot. Oh, how nice to take that quiet time with my Lord.

It's terrible to hear that both Jenny and Ria are dealing with colds and flu. Ladies, get well soon. We really miss you. I know you're thankful, Ria, that your father will be going for rehab. Much can be done at such centres.

Pat, how sorry I am for your computer problems.

Y'all have a good day.

JENNY, I hope you will be “in the pink” again soon.  A bad cold is never good company.

RIA, it isn’t nice for Jenny to send you her cold.  I hope your father does well at the Rehab Center.

KATHY, it is good to see you back and I am glad you weathered the storm safely.  I’m sure it was scary as the storm passed over.

RUTH ANN, it would be nice to meet again sometime for lunch.  We are free most of the time.  Do you like Chinese?  We like the buffet in the White Bridge Road area.

SARAH, good to see you this morning.  Are you glad for school to be starting again?

MARILYN, good to see you this morning.  I wish you could have a few days off too.  I have been retired now for 12 years.  Almost every day is a day off.

(edit) AL, good morning.  I believe we were writing about the same time.

Acts 2:21  And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.'

Now, you know one way to make missionaries mad is to mention Chinese Buffets when they can't go to one :-)

We've had a good day here in Minsk, the weather is starting to cool down.  We're interviewing prospective students for the Bible School tomorrow, so it will be a long day.  I'm hoping that we will have many that are truly called to the ministry and have a heart to see people won for Christ.  My wife is off to a Bridal Shower tonight, so I get the privilege of spending the evening with my 5 year old daughter.

Blessings all,
Mike

MARBETH!!!

I am rushing through today.  Just know that I have read all your posts.  Just not taking time to reply to each.

I still have a groundhog under my deck.   :(  I put some rocks where he crawls under and they were moved this morning.  The 'trap' man is suppose to bring a trap this afternoon.   :-\

I am still waiting on UPS to bring a box to ship back on old satelitte receiver so I won't be billed for $150 from Pegasus.  :-\

I am still waiting on a phone call from my telephone service.  I was told someone would call me within 24 hours.  They are 18 hours late.   :-\

It seems no one does what they say they will do when they say they will do it!!!!   ::)

I have turned the A/C back on....too hot to sleep and too humid.   :-\

Thanks for the wishes everyone...afraid this is a full blown flu virus....now the cough and throat are pretty bad.  Had an awful choking fit earlier.Phew, hot sweats....(no it's not the change!!!  ;D )  Have got the usual medicines in my cabinet and are taking those...Plus prayer.

Ria, well you said that flu was rife in Holland when you e mailed me...ha ha...so now I know where it came from.Thank you Holland!!! ;)

Joking apart the weather conditions over here have been horrendous, little wonder these viruses abound. Indian Summer and flash floods. :'(

Hello Papa John, Pastor Al, Ruth, Etta Sue, Mike, Jane, Ruth Ann, Marilyn, Sarah and Kathy ....etc., etc.,

                    Happy Birthday Marbeth

Going to get the disinfectant now folks..wash the germs off this puter.  I won't send any your way.  ;D

Hi everyone.  It is almost noon and I want to post as need to do some webpage work this afternoon and also get in a nap.  The last two days have been very stressful and I feel the effects of it today.  Feel fine but just tired.

Janet, it sounds like the party preparations are in full gear and that you are very busy.  I am sure Beth will treasure the memory book.

Jenny, I had hoped you would be over that flu today.  Sorry that you are still feeling down.  Take care and rest.

Ria, glad to see that things are in progress for your father to get rehab.  It just takes a lot of time and patience.  Hope your sore neck and cold are short-lived.

Kathy, it sounds like you have been in a hurricine of your own with the death and funeral and travel.  Hope everything calms down soon.

Ruth Ann, it sounds like you have a nice quiet and pleasant place to be outdoors and to find some time for yourself to be in prayer.
Hope the driving class wasn't too boring.  Don't know if I can get Pat to attend another one as the one we went to was not very enjoyable.  We didn't have a good instructor.

Sarah, it is great you can get a headstart on your college work.  Be prepared for an extra workload as college teachers seem to load on the work.  I am sure you can handle it.  ;)

Happy Birthday, Marbeth.  Be sure Al takes you out for a good meal or something.  Seriously, hope you have a most enjoyable day.

A special hi to Ruth.  Are you looking forward to school restarting or are you already on the bus route.  This is the second full week of school for our area as they start earlier every year.  I think they are working towards year round schooling.

Marilyn, it sounds like you could a day off once-in-a-care but know that caregivers must be available.

Mike, do you teach at a Bible College?  I hope you have a lot of good students available.

Etta Sue, isn't it amazing how seldom people follow up in returning calls within the time frame they set.  One thing I always tried to do when I worked (or now as well) is meet my commitment or if I can't to at least let the person know what the problem is.  Sitting waiting for the phone to ring is no fun.  It is hot here in Georgia again after several days of very mild weather.  Hope you can get the groundhog trapped.  Guess you don't want it as a boarder! :o

Hi Jane, Pat, Papa John  and to all that I may have missed commenting to this morning.  Pat, sure hope today is the day for your computer.

I have been busy with all kind of moving things around.  Fun! :-/

Etta Sue, you do crochet and knit, right?  I was wondering if you can make me up some hats.  I can take a picture of one and give you measurements.

Hope you all have a great day!

My goodness, is it really noon already?  Whew!  I have been running full speed since 5:00 this morning.  I woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep, so got up, washed last night's dishes  :-[ and worked on Beth's album for an hour and a half, went swimming, and have been working on her album, making calls about the party, etc. ever since.  I am getting excited, I think Beth is going to be so thrilled!  Several area churches where she is known have put it into their bulletins or on their call lists for this Sunday, and it is in our newspaper, as well.  And her Dad said he will get the word out in Boise City, where she was born and lived the first 12 years of her life, too.  ;D ;D ;D

Ria and Jenny, I don't like it that you are feeling bad. :(  I wish you robust health returning quickly!  Flu and colds are so miserable, and I think even more so in hot weather.  Get well wishes and prayers going your way.  Ria, good to hear that arrangements have been made for your father, too.

Etta Sue, I agree...........it makes you feel like GRRRRR........to sit and wait for someone to call, and then they don't.  It's like people who are habitually late everywhere they go.  Rude.  I hope you get things moving soon!

Papa John and Ruth Ann, getting together for a meal sounds really nice.  God bless you both.........Cornelia, too!

Larry, you are so faithful in all your commitments, I admire you.  You're a treasure, brother!  (((hugs)))

Soni..........Pat chrochets hats, I know!  There are some in the threads here, really cute.  Of course, Etta Sue is a whiz at that sort of thing, too.  Hope you get some.  I have been looking for hats for Abby's dress-up box, too, at used clothing and thrift stores, etc.

Ruth, I admire folks like you and Pat who drive school buses.  That is an awesome responsibility, and I'm sure the kids love you.

Hi, Marilyn.  Why not spend that time with your family on Sunday, if that's what you want to do?  God understands that our families are a high priority, and it's not like you would be skipping church.  ((hugs))

Hi, Kathy!  Glad Charlie didn't get you!  Sorry about the death and send you my sympathy.  I've been watching the reports of the devastation Charlie wreaked on Punta Gorda, Florida........terrible!  Glad you are home safe now.

Pat, I sure miss you!  I had a great chat with our Mieka last night.  She said she was most beautiful, in a new black dress and a new necklace from a friend.  They were about to have an all-night party, and she didn't have to prepare for it, but was a special guest! ;D ;D  She is such a neat girl, and so intelligent, too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARBETH!!! And many more!  Enjoy!

Hello all!  I actually did some housework today.

The Basic Skills Dept at the community college (where I work) hosted a "fun" triathlon today for our statewide "Race 4 Literacy" campaign.  My older sister was the organizer of it, and it went really well.  I took a couple of sticks of pictures, and the photographer from the local newspaper wanted me to give him copies of them to use (he was actually participating in the event).  Hope at least a couple of them are okay.

I'm still tired, but not as sick.  Thank the Lord.

Janet -- I hope Beth's party is a blast.  I don't remember if it was this thread or yesterday's, but you mentioned food.  Gotta have food.  I have found simple things work really well, especially if you don't want to get (re - pay for) a caterer.  If all else fails, maybe we could post suggestions and recipes for easy, fun, crowd-pleasing food.  Just a thought.

Mieka -- Yea, America is blessed with your presence once again.  Glad to see you in here!!

I'm going to go do another load of laundry (ugh) and get supper started (it's really not leftovers, its "pre-prepped food.")

Have a good evening all!!1

Karmat:  Good to see you here...how are you feeling?  When is your due-date?

Janet:  I didn't read where you said if this was a "special" year for Beth...I'm sure it must be.

Pat:  If you can get in to read this....could you phone me please.

My granddaughter is very excited.  Tomorrow her exchange student from France is coming for a 3 month stay., then in February, Kelsea goes to France for 3 months.  What an experience for these girls!  I am most anxious to meet her.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARBETH MOAK!!!.

Yes, Papa John, I like Chinese food. It would be wonderful if we could invite Mieka, wouldn't it. I'll send you an e-mail and we can get together on the time and place.

Mike, I'm awfully sorry that Papa John and I tempted you with our yummy-sounding food. By the way, my brother and his wife were in Russia just last year for 2 months, helping at our church's retreat. They brought back wonderful memories of their experiences.

I enjoyed the driving class. The instructor (like me) is aging, but he pointed out some really good things in the book, plus he had actual stories from the years he's taught this class, so it made the material much more interesting, Larry. Whether it's borrrring or not, I'm going because I can get a lowered insurance rate for the next 3 years. Of course, the MONEY is not the only incentive - but being a safe driver certainly motivates me, especially with all the aggressive drivers we have these days.

Sarah - it's hard to believe you're in college, now. Wow, how fast time flies. Good luck.

Y'all have a great evening.

Ruth Ann, OK, I will be looking for your email.  Yes we can invite Mieka as we eat Chinese food.  She could tell us how they REALLY cook those dishes.  Of course I’m an expert since a few years ago we spent a whole week in China and our guide taught me how to use chop sticks.

Matt 6:9-13
9   After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10   Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11   Give us this day our daily bread.
12   And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13   And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.  (KJV)

Sorry that I have not posted since I came home from work. I had a terrible splitting headache all day today but Praise the Lord it is finally gone. Today was NOT a good day for me. Without going into a lot of detail Gloria was having a nicotine fit, high blood sugar, her mom has been in the hospital for 15 days, and I got the brunt of it all today. somew times it is so hard to turn the other cheek and set a good example but I did it no matter how much it hurt. She got her cigarettes so maybe tomorrow she will be in better spirits.

A lovely conversation Pat, Love you.

On to the prayer forum now.TTYL

Another sunny, wasp-filled day, here on the island.  I had to go to my doctor and took the bus home.  While waiting for the light to change so I could cross the highway, a large wasp decided to attack.  That must have been an amusing sight for the motorists....a dignified, elderly lady, doing a mad dance and wildly swinging her purse.  Sonifo would have been proud of some of the steps....Fortunately the light changed and I must have bruised either it's ego or body, and got home sting free >:(

Happy Birthday Marbeth.

Kathy, I am sorry about your friend and also all the weather problems.  Seems a number of 'snowbirds' are concerned about holiday homes that are not covered by insurance.  Tho' if able to have a second home, that will not be a severe loss like the tragic loss of one's only home...as so many families are experiencing.

Jenny & Ria, hope you both feel better soon.  This too will pass!

Marilyn, you certainly should take a break and rest.  Agree that missing the Church outing is not that big a deal.  Grandkids are not little for very long and need to see Grandma.

Here is a little chuckle:

There was a very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country.
"Is there anything breakable in here?" asked the postal clerk.
"Only the Ten Commandments." answered the lady.

Pleasant evening all and God Bless.

Oh, Liz!   It's awhile since I had such a giggle.  My mental picture of you doing that "two-step polka" is just so funny.  Glad you didn't get stung today.
