Morning Devotional...Hell Can't Put Out the Light
"In Him was Life and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it."
(John 1:4-5, Amp)
Whenever things around you get dark and you feel the devil is about to overpower you, remember this: You have the Light of the world in you, and try as they may, all the forces of hell can't put it out!
Even when you're at your weakest, even when you feel like the light within you is small, the devil's darkness is no match for you.
Let me show you what I mean. Imagine for a moment that you're in a large auditorium that has no windows or doors to let in outside light. The place is so black you can't see anything, not even your hand in front of your face. There's nothing around you but complete darkness!
Now, imagine one little lightning bug flying around that auditorium. Every eye in there would turn toward it. As small as that little light is in comparison to the great darkness around it, you would still be able to see it. That massive blackness wouldn't be able to do a thing to shut off that bug. Everywhere he flew, the darkness would just have to yield. It would always be dispelled by his light.
When the circumstances around you begin to get black and you're tempted to despair, think about that lightning bug. Meditate on the fact that Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, is in you. When the revelation of that hits you, you'll never again let the darkness back you into a corner. You'll start chasing it down-- overcoming it with your light!
Scripture Study: Ephesians 5:8-16
I have sitting on my desk a toad in a jar. Kassie rescued it from the jaws of a LARGE garter snake. It is just sitting there. Perhaps wondering which ffate is worse. The jaws of the snake or the glass jar he is in now.
This has been a difficult summer for us. A lot going on and our share of sickness. Things are somewhat better now, , , ,and summer is about over.
Two weeks ago we had our first night frost. That in itself is not so remarkable but looking at our garden would have caused some to wonder about our sanity! All of the garden that had veggies that the frost would destroy were covered in bed sheets!. We now have even more produce coming this year. We will have a freezer full.
Well that is about it for now, God bless all of you
JudyB
Oh I meant to tell you that we already have trees turning colour. The reds of the maple are under way. Sign of the coming winter. The trees native to this area are loaded with fruit. The elderberries, choke cherries and pin cherries. Also there are a lot of wild raspberries and we even found some wils blackberries! I think the trees turning colour is early, but who knows what in "normal" now?
Janet, Thanks for the devotional. Things with my mom have been kind've crazy includeing an ER visit for trouble breathing. Now that is finally resolved. It did seem kind've "dark" then but Thank God for His light.
JudyB, we have some trees starting to turn here in NY as well. It's gonna be pretty with them falling like snowflakes and trying out the "new" film SLR camera I found.
Take heart all God is our Light and nothing at all can put it out. Have a great day!
Every Blessing to you all,
<><Jeannine
Hi Judy! Hi, Jeannine! Good to see you both this morning.
Sigh........I've been awake since 3 AM again. I hope my inner clock gets reset soon!
I discovered my 256 card is also full of photos, so will get them onto this computer before I take the card to Walmart today.
I hope you all have a blessed day!
What a nice surprise when I clicked on yesterday's posts & found all the Birthday greetings.
Pat: Thanks for the birthday cake! I really like those cards. My cake was super chocolate & so rich and filling that I couldn't finish a slice.
Marilyn: Thanks to you too. Love what you said when you were greeting everyone at church - so welcoming.
Janet: So you have jet lag - glad you are back. Isn't is good to return to real freedom?
Larry: Good that you llisten to your body & rest when you feel you need it. Don has been just tuckered out from the drive back from Montana and that was several days ago. These things tend to make us weary for days. I know that you have stress from concern and worry over your daughter. Take care.
Judy B: Frost two weeks ago, my that does sound early. We had a wind here and there are some dry leaves on the ground but that may be from drought and not an early fall. It is hard to tell but my favorite month is coming. Something about September - I just love it.
Our daughter said she want to make lunch for me yesterday & it was actually a surprise when all the family showed. It is my favorite time to be with everyone. I could actually live in a big house with all the family there every day - as in yesteryear - well, I would have to have an escape room for some quiet time. :D
Janet: Thank you for today's devotion of looking towards the light of the world.
I have a book on order from the library - it should teach me about geocities and perhaps I can once again learn to post photos from the geocities home page as it is now allowed.
Janet - a lovely devotional and reminder that we all need to be beacons of light for Christ in our every day life...and welcome back
Carol - belated birthday wishes
Good morning everyone. May the blessings of our Lord fill your heart with joy.
Good Morning. I really can't tell what the day will be like her on the Lost Coast, it is overcast right now and an expected temperature of 61° today.
Going to take Ruth (my Client) to the bank and the senior center in Arcata for lunch today, that is her regular thing to do on Tuesdays, She also goes to the Gym to get in the Jacuzzi on Tuesday.
I am still working on my quilt top putting purple velour between the sets of the 12 little squares horizontal and vertical.
Thank you Janet for the devotional, I hope your inner clock gets reset to the right time soon.
TTYL
Marilyn - what you see is what you get, weatherwise. This is Humboldt County, and this is normal - all the time. They call this stuff overcast with patches of fog. Baloney. It's fog - high, medium, and low, and it's our thing here. But we have the Light of the World.

Larry ~ Do you feel rested? I took a nap for you and when I went to bed last night, I slept so good that I didn't get up until 9:30 this morning. So I know I rested enough for both of us.
Ivalou called and we are going to Anderson to have Chinese food, then to get some ink for my printer, a 16" x 20" frame to frame one of my State Fair entries and her to get some groceries. I love our spur of the moment outings!!~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^

Sarah
Yep, all our kids are back in school. I hope they all have a busy, productive, happy and blessed year. This is Curtis' final year of college, as a 5th year Senior, Mark is a Sophomore, Toni is a Junior, Abby is in third grade. My, how quickly they grow up!
Sarah, why are you pushing yourself so hard to get through college? I would advise you (for what it's worth! ;)) to slow down and enjoy being a kid. You'll never get another chance at it! Larry agrees with me, I see. But, really, there are plenty of years for working, once shool days are done.
We are home from Garden City, and I got lots of prints, even though I was trying to (and did) cut down a lot. I didn't print anywhere near half of them. Now, when I get caught up on my business calls for a few hours, I will attempt to figure out what hapened to my PSP and why the tools I need on it have disappeared. I may be yelling for help---any volunteers?
Abby wants to come spend the weekend with me, and I look forward to having her. I love spending time with her.
Gotta go start making those calls!!
Hi, friends,
I was here yesterday, but for some reason the software thought I had already posted, so rejected my little message.
My son has gone to meet a friend for dinner - great news, since it indicates his depression may be lightening a bit.
Y'all have a good day.
Ruth Ann
Wonderful news about Leslie, Ruth Ann. I think we are following each other from site to site. I just answered your post on SN.
Larry I am praying for your daughter and her situation. You are in a tough place right now. You need lots of prayer too.
Where is everyone?
I see Kevin posted a new photo in thephotos here thread. Great shot Kevin that is fantastic photo of the river/stream and the waterfall.
Janet I hope you and Darrell get rested up soon.
Later
Yes, that was indeed a lovely image Kevin posted, Marilyn. It's such a peaceful scene.
Janet, thanks so much for your morning devotional.... although I am using it for a bedtime devotional..... I will finish it off by reading my bible lessons and hit the sack.
God has been so good to us, more than we deserve. Thanks be to God.
Have a great evening..... tomorrow I turn the big 51 years old..... whew..... time flys.
Hi Rob... You're still a young thing!
Closing the door a wee bit early tonight. Continuing in the "Shepherd's Psalm".
