Morning Devotional...

Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
Psalm 120:2

Overheard recently, when someone spoke of a friend's long absence, "It's been forever and a day since I saw her."

Another phrase glibly spoken and often heard is, "I was scared to death."

Really? These idioms may seem insignificant, but often exaggeration takes the form of wilfully speaking beyond the bounds of truth.

Joni Eareckson Tada says, "We play into the hands of Satan, the Father of lies, when we distort the facts."

God is pleased when we say what we mean and mean what we say. May our prayer be, "Set a watch, O Lord, at my mouth; keep the door of my lips" (Ps. 141:3).
—E. Dyck

Author & Musician:  Charles A. Tindley, 1851-1933

Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
Naught of this world's delusive dream;
I have renounced all sinful pleasure;
Jesus is mine, there's nothing between.

Nothing between, like worldly pleasure;
Habits of life, though harmless they seem;
Must not my heart from Him ever sever;
He is my all, there's nothing between.

Nothing between, like pride or station;
Self or friends shall not intervene;
Though it may cost me much tribulation,
I am resolved, there's nothing between.

Nothing between, even many hard trials,
Though the whole world against me convene;
Watching with prayer and much self denial,
I'll triumph at last, there's nothing between.

Here's a nice photo by Gareth Parkes.  I'm sure that all have heard of Charles Haddon Spurgeon...

Spurgeon

This frieze is in Spurgeons College in Norwood. For those Baptist's visiting the UK, you may want to visit the museum at the College. I spent many hours staring vacantly at this, wondering how many saints were blessed by this "little" mans preaching.

Please click on the photo and leave a comment for Gareth.  Thanks so much!

Good Morning How can it be that I am first this morning. Pat I have been using that verse as part of my prayers for years. Maybe not every day but almost.

Results of my Blood work Thursday, My cholesterol has come down about 18 points in 4 months on Cholest-off. from 250 to 232. She said my good cholesterol has come up and the bad had gone down.
At times I have not been careful of what I am eating, I am still enjoying my food but only eat red meat occasionally, a lot of veggies but still have the treats. If  were to cut out the treats and did more walking it would go down more. The left hand has some nerve damage either from Carpal Tunnel AND from banging the back of hand a couple of months ago or just Carpal Tunnel. When I make certain movements like wringing out a dish cloth, bending my wrist down or picking up a milk gallon it feels like an electric shock shooting through the middle of my hand.

Today when I get home from work I am going to make some yeast bread. I bought a box of  bread mix.''

The news is sure making a big deal of the church's objections to the Davinci Code movie. It's fiction can't the media leave it alone.

Dear Pat - I thank our Father for Spurgeon!  I daresay that there are many, even today, whose spiritual condition can be traced to his ministry to their parents, grandparents, etc.  He wrote a book - I can't remember its exact title, but it's something like "Letters to His Students."  It's advice and teaching for those called to the ministry of the Word, and it's about the best there is on the subject.  Praise our God for sending us men like that!  May He send some in our own day!

It is getting fairly noisy here as workers (probably illegals) are swarming all over the roof taking off the old shakes and replacing with fireproof ones.  We will have to get out of here today and probably tomorrow as well.  I do have a problem with so many companies using illegals as for one instance, whooping cough cases just in this state are up to almost 1,000 this year - it is from so many not having health immunizations.  Last year, we had to be tested for T.B. - from contact with the ones at the homeless center.

Pat:  Thanks for sending along the photo that Gareth sent to you.  I hope all is well for him.  What an interesting photo.

Marilyn:  Congrats on your work on cholesterol!  I need mine checked again, it stays right around 200 but now they say numbers should be lower.

Well, hahaha, I can hear scraping the roof right over my head.  Thunderstorms possible today so I don't know how many days this will take.

Good Morning.

Pat, I have tried to always go into the gallery and look at the photos in there and comment.  I don't comment on every one always, but do comment.

Where did the google ads go?  Mine are missing.

I have to get a couple of things done before leaving for training on the new computer system at the store so must get busy.

Good morning everyone.  God Bless You All.

What a lovely cool night last night here in Indiana.  Was nice not to have the ceiling fan on and the A/C wasn't running either.

As for cloning...instead of cloning people, animals or animal parts, why doesn't those scientists learn how to clone gas pumps and their contents?  Do I hear an AMEN?

I got a call from Kitty last evening asking me if I would come over and show her how to use Microsoft Excel to make an address list for the Killbuck Photography Guild.  I ate a bite and went over...she is less than 4 miles from me.  She is a very good student.  She got the 'B's done and then we went upstairs to just chat.  She is a lovely lady.  Everytime I am with her, I can see where we have more and more in common.

Not much on the agenda today either.  So whatever I do, will be a surprise.

Thlanks for the devotional, Pat.  Actually, it was most appropriate for this morning at 7 A.M.

Today I became a tree hugger......Development that was supposed to be two yrs. away, has suddenly sprung up at the end of our street.  Old growth trees are being destroyed and much damage is being done...including the shock to a mother deer and two fawns who have again been sent fleeing.  This is a rather beautiful and expensive area and what is happening seems to be a well concealed move.  A neighbour got 28 signatures to try and get a meeting with the developers and when the chain saw appeared next door, got some of us to go out at seven this morning to stop the work.  No answers to them having a permit, etc.  Interesting that the only four who stood there were four of us who are Christians!  I was there to simply give support to the group, as part of my daughter's family.  They handled it well, the fellow moved to the back where more developing and cutting is being done, and the developer was reached on the phone.  Will be interesting to see if they have the permit....much double speak and no proof.  This particular part is not being developed for some time and no one wants to look at that destruction for ages....perhaps with the developer going broke, as is happening all over.  Everything was done with calm and dignity.  So will trust that will not change as more answers are demanded :-\

The part in question is used by people with their dogs and kids.  Nice walks in the woods, etc.  Our quiet street is loaded with small kids and pets.  This is an expensive area and all the new homes will be in the $500 thousand range....So of course that makes it very attractive to new developers.  We seem to be getting people moving here from all over the world.  No wonder there is no longer room in the colleges and universities for island folks.  Lord Love A Duck :-\

Here is a very small smile:

An atheist complained to a Christian friend, "You Christians have your special holidays, such as Christmas and Easter. Jews celebrate their national holidays, such as Passover and Yom Kippur. But we atheists have no recognized national holidays. It's unfair discrimination."

His friend replied, "Why don't you celebrate April first?"

       ;D ;D ;D               >:(

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

Liz

Hi everyone.  Been busy here at my computer all day, except for 90 minutes when I rested after lunch, but don't seem to have accomplished a thing as I had planned.  In about 45 minutes we will be picked up by our friends and we are going to O'Charley's for dinner.  We haven't been there in quite awhile.  I hope it is as good as Appleby's was a few days ago as I really enjoyed that meal.

Karen, that is indeed good news and know your family is greatly relieved.

Liz, if they are not going to develop for 2 years it sure doesn't make sense to remove the trees.  I hope your efforts with the group as successful.  I live in a county that has gone from 100,000 people in 1980 close to 780,000 now and it is expected to continue to grow rapidly the next 25 years.  We have seen much of the landscape change in the last nine years since we moved to our present house.  Thank you for the information on fibromyalgia.  My wife has been following a protocol involving guifenisen for several years.  It is a slow process but she is definitely seeing improvement with it.  It is a program developed by a Dr. St. Almunds in California.

Etta Sue, Excel is a very good program and can be used with mail merge, which I assume is what your friend is wanting to do.  We are also enjoying much lower temps today although it has warmed up this afternoon into the 80s.  This morning it was in the high 70s and was so nice.

Marilyn, the Google ads are not displaying for me either.  Maybe they are not active today for some reason.  Glad to see your cholesterol is coming down.  Mine is down to 148 and everything in range except they have lowered the number of the LDL to 70.  They called me and wanted to switch me to Vytorin from the Zocor I have been taking.  I will discuss it tomorrow with the cardiologist before I make any decision to change.

Sue, I hope you enjoy the training on the new computer system.  New challenges.

Pat, I hope you have had a good trip to return your grandson home and that you got your new refrigerator.

Carol, we have many illegals in our area as well.  It is obvious that the government does not intend to do anythiing about the problem although I see a couple of states are beginning to approach the problem.  I fear it is a situation where the "camel is already in the tent".  However, they are certainly good workers and seem to be family oriented.  We are having a big problem in the Atlanta area and in our county with the gangs.  Hope they get the roof on before it rains out your way.

Al, thanks for the information on the nuclear stress test.  I looked at the site and it appears that it can be either with a treadmill or chemically induced.  I had a MUGA nulear test about 3 months ago to determine my actual ejection factor and they said it was more precise than the stress test.  I haven't had a stress test in several years as guess the doctor knows there is no point.  He has done about all that he can do at this point.

Sorry to read that Janet is having more computer problems.  Hope it is just a connection problem and not something wrong with her computer.

Its so nice to come into NEM and read good health reports from our members and their families.

To TBear's father - I will continue to pray for you.

To Marilyn:  PTL - that your cholesterol is within normal limits now.

To Pat Hanna:  I am so glad that you are feeling better.  I trust Larry tells you that you too are being prayed for!

Gareth - many thanks for your photo of Chas Spurgen.  Its so nice to see you post again, Gareth.  I have missed hearing from you!

I went to Costco this afternoon and got more Cholest-off, my pain meds and an over the counter Sleep Aid tablet. My membership more than made the trip worthwhile. I got an $8.00 rebate on the Cholest-off, paid $40. less for my med than at a drugstore.

I have my homemade bread about ready to go into the oven in about 30 minutes.

I really fieel like I have accomplished something today.

Hello, dear friends.  Well, bad news on my end---my computer is "toast." :'(  The computer guy came at 5:00 to check it and said the hard drive has gone.  And that to recover any of the data from it would be very expensive.  So I guess whatever I have lost, I will just have to live without.

I am upstairs in Darrel's office using his computer now, but it isn't a satisfactory arrangement for either of us.  I have a new computer ordered but it won't be here for two weeks at least.  Until then, I will come up and use this one occasionally to catch up with what's happening here.

Liz, so sorry about the mess on your street, but good for you for having the courage to face them down and ask questions!  I hope you get the results you want.

Carol, I agree, they should not hire illegals; it is against the law to do so, but who is enforcing it?  Hardly anyone!  We "whities" as the Mexicans call us, have become the minority here in our area.  :-\

My friend Pat is going to have a garage sale just after Labor Day and wants me to help her, so I am trying to dig out some stuff to take, goodness knows we have way too much stuff around here!

Larry, it is good that you are so computer savvy---when things happen to mine, I'm at someone else's mercy; especially now that neither Curtis nor Mark is around to rescue their Grams.

Papa John, I especially enjoyed your post yesterday, and was just going to reply when my computer crashes and burned.  :(  Hope you are doing great, you are such a blessing to so many!

Pat, I'm sorry about this trouble.  I will try to get back in the grove of doing my day's NEM as soon as I can.

Nita, my heart goes out to you about your grandson.  It seems some kids have such a hard time becoming responsible for their own actions/mistakes.  I know I am kept busy praying for my grandkids!

See you all later!

I am so very sorry about the computer, Janet!  Not nice to lose stuff.  I can't help but think that this has been coming on with all your problems with email and things recently.

Please don't fret about the things that you do here on CP.  We'll take care of things.

Now it's time to lock the door.
