Morning Devotional...But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit. Isaiah 66:2
I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit. Isaiah 57:15
A man is known by his friends.
Judging from the above verses concerning God, we can know something of Him as well by examining those that He allows to draw near to Him.
Abraham is an example (Gen. 14). With no pomp or pride, he returned from a victorious military campaign that he had led. It is not surprising then that three times the Bible calls him the friend of God.
The secret?
The contrite one rests fully on God and glorifies Him completely.
--Edwin FescheI came to Jesus as I was,
weary, and worn, and sad;
I found in Him a resting place,
and He has made me glad.Â

;D Hi ms Pat ;D
I get to be a first one today 8)
I did learn a new words today contrite ??? grieving and penitent for sin or shortcoming. 8)
And then i learn another penitent feeling or expressing humble or regretful pain or sorrow for sins. :-\
I did think about this devotional tonight. I did think not long ago if I have Jesus with me I can do any thing. I see today it is not so. ???
But I know today if I have Jesus with me I can do all that is His wish for me to do. 8) But at times not all that I wish for me to do.
Mr Abraham is a friend to God 8)
I know God is a friend to me and I love Him with all my heart. How can I know if I am a friend to God? :-\
I know I am a sinner and it is why I am here, but I do not know what is my sin in the heaven. ??? :-[ I know I am to be sad of it and have a pentinent, How do I ask for the forgivness if I do not remember what I did wrong. :-\
When my heart is Sad I do rest in God and I thank Him that I know the love of so many friends. (God is love). 8)

Dear Pat,
Rest in the Lord and get well soon.
Papa John. :o ha ha..that was funny re the beast. Thanks! Yes that looks like my Pushkin cat...Just like him! Acturally some folks think it is a ferral cat and I think that is possible., especially when I see Pushy coming through the undergrowth and then jumping up and striding along the fence. he is big and long and black., like a panther.
Mieka. So you made it early. Well done. Hello little one.
Jane. Goodmorning dear one. :-*
It is a dark, cold morning here. They say "a change is as good as a rest". We are getting lots of changes in our weather.
Now I really must pop off. I have a cup of tea getting cold (decaff Al) and some toast in the toaster., also "the beast" is asking to go back on the moor. He's had his breakfast.
God Bless.
see you later,
Luv u all.
Jenny.
Mieka - Ni Hao. I've had good fish before, but this one was not done very well at all. The flesh inside was still raw. They had raw onions and other stuff put inside it. And even with it not being cooked very well, it still took them over 2 hours to get it to us. We were real disappointed. We used to live in Mongolia, and once a year we would head to Beijing for medical checkups and a vacation. We loved having Chinese food, we'd find the restaurants the locals went to, and we really enjoyed it. I remember we went to one restaurant and we were wanting some spring rolls, but couldn't find it on the menu, then we saw a waitress carrying a plate of what looked like spring rolls past us. So we excitedly pointed to the plate and our waitress soon brought us one. We were really looking forward to eating them, expecting cabbage and meat inside. Imagine our surprise on the first bite when it was filled with a white, soft, almost gooey filling. We had gotten deep fried bananas!!!! They were good, but disappointing because we were wanting spring rolls.
Right now we're on break from our language classes for 30 minutes, so figured I'd just drop in and read a little. Have a good day everyone.
Good morning, friends,
Leslie and I have been working on more disability papers this morning - this time for the place where he worked (actually a part of the government).
So, I'm now "off to the races." Two HUGE (my boss says the most important in the last 2 years) deadlines. I'm fearful I can't make them - the second one (due at lunchtime tomorrow) will require opening more than 60 files, extracting data (tedius process) and reporting. So, I'll probably not see y'all until Thursday - after I finally go to sleep Wednesday night.
Y'all have a wonderful day with each other and with our Lord.
Ruth Ann
:) Hello and a Good Morning to All :)
It is 7AM here on the East Coast, the morning is beautiful (Thank You God :)). and I wish all to have a great day praising the LORD for all His blessings...even when things seem not to be allright.
Doesn't the song say....."when upon life's billows we are tempest tossed...when we are discouraged thinking all is lost...count your many blessings, name them one by one....and it will surprise you what the LORD has done.
Soo glad to see Mieka here and she puts such a smile on my face everytime I read her posts :) :) :) :).
Off to get ready for work. 8)
Hi Mieka!! ;D Hi Mieka! ;D ((((hugs)))) And hello to everyone else too. I will come back later to talk to you. I got up to go swim, but we decided to go to Beth's and widen two doors for her while it is still cool this morning. So I'm outa here to do that!

Mieka ~ So sorry I missed you!!! It does sound like you know your fish. I think I would really like fish that you prepare!!! I like fish but I don't like the little bones. I am not a fan of having to sort out my food before swallowing!!!Â
Sonja ~ IF and WHEN I catch this varmint of a groundhog, I will take a picture of HIM. He is smart. I cut an apple in fourths and threw them in the trap. That booger ate the four pieces but didn't set off the trap. Tony, my son, helped me set the trap so it would trip. I just knew when I got up this morning, I would have a trapped groundhog but NOT!!! Still four more pieces of apple in there though. Chandraya's room sounds luscious!! Is Lila Mae still downstairs? Are you still downstairs? Do you guys watch Extreme Makeover-Home Edition? I love that show!!!!
Pat ~ So sorry you are ill and on anti-biotics. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Janet ~ My, I just realized that your party for Beth is this weekend. I am getting anxious for her!!!! I know she will feel loved!!!!
Papa John ~ I told Jerry you said HI. He said 'He's a sweetie!" He remembers your phone call while he was in the hospital. He is doing real good. He has his good days and his bad days....like we all seem to have the older we get.
Jerry and I are going to Mail Box Etc. to send back a satellite receiver, access card and remote. Pegasus billed me for $150 because I hadn't returned the component. I called them and they sent me a box but I have to take it so UPS will pick it up and deliver it. We haven't decided if we are eating out or not today!<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))

Hi everyone. Just a quick note this morning and then hopefully I can get back later tonight. Still have quite a lot to do to get my new laptop setup and my old one stripped of what I don't want to leave on it.
Pat, sorry to read that you are having to take an antibiotic as know that means you are not feeling very good. I usually find that the antibiotic makes me feel even more tired, so hope you will take the time to get proper rest.
Happy to say that I got up feeling better today and went to the "Y" to walk and then to coffee. Stopped at the post office to mail off a box to Pat's sister for her birthday. Hard to believe how expensive postage is these days. This afternoon is Calvin Cove day so will be playing for and singing with the older adults this afternoon.
Good to see everyone posting. Ruth Ann, hope you don't stress out over those two deadlines. Sounds like an awful lot to pour on to you.
Etta Sue, sounds like that groundhog is pretty smart. ;D
Janet, sure that Beth will appreciate those widen doors as she moves around. We used to live in a mobile home and know some of those doorways are quite narrow.
Hello to all you CP ers,

I made a big post earlier and lost it, So this one is short.. I am so sorry..

Thank you Jesus..  To watch my dear friend struggle so hard these last 4 months has been awful... Thank you for all the prayers.. We called the visiting nurses to send me a aide to help give me a break.. This will be helpful..
I have you all in my heart and prayers.. I will be back in later.. God bless everyone of you..
Good morning. I’m just dropping in for a moment. So good to see each one today. Cornelia has gone to the dentist. She just called to say she is on the way home. Cell phones are wonderful.
Mieka, the Bible teaches we have all sinned. As Christians when we do recognize our sins we confess them and He is gracious and forgives us. As long as we put our faith in Jesus and do our best to live for Him we do not have to worry. Remember that God loves us.
Rom 3:22-24 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (NIV)
I Jn 1:8-10 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. (NIV)
James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (NIV)

We are back from Beth's now, and have a good feeling because we accomplished quite a lot. We widened the two doors, fastened some register covers to the floor that were loose, replaced the front door knob which was hard to turn, did laundry, folded and put away clothes, moved furniture and vacuumed. Little by little, we are gaining on the job. It is getting really hot here again today.
Alma, I hope you do get some help. I'm sure you need a break.
Papa John, always good to see your friendly green posts! Cell phones are great, yes. We only have one, and last night I was talking to my foster brother on it, and it went "chirp! chirp!" and was dead. Darrel tends to forget to charge the battery on it. (It's his phone, I just borrow it sometimes.) ;)
Larry, I'm glad to hear that you feel better today! Enjoy that new laptop!
No groundhog for supper, huh, Etta Sue? ;) Just kidding, Mieka! Here, they have "groundhog suppers" around groundhog day as fundraisers-----they serve sausage and pancakes!
Ruth, your job sounds so demanding and stressful! Will you be retiring soon? I think you have said so, if I'm not mistaken. I hope you make your deadlines without undue stress. (((hug)))
Back to my LIST!!
Hi Mieka, the only way you can know that God loves you and has forgiven you, is by studying the new Testament, read it and digest it, and in it you will find that Jesus our Saviour came to seek and save all who were lost that is = US.
In Ephesians ch 2, the whole chapter, you can read about yourself and why Jesus
came to bring us back to the God on whom we had turned our backs.
We were all born rebels, and had no desire for God, nor the things of God, they were completely foreign to our sinful nature.
BUT! God desired a relationship with us, and so He had to show Himself to us somehow, all His wonderful creation is all around us, but we just called this " mother nature" and seldom thought of the Creator of this beauty.
So God called us by a different way, when the time was right, He showed us Jesus!
He showed us, some of us by reading scripture, some by hearing the Gospel preached,
some by a deep inner feeling of empytiness, various ways and means, but in the end basically, a very deep conviction of our sinfullness, and of our hopelessness to correct this on our own.
So He showed us His Son, our ONLY hope, the Saviour of the world.
Who had to become our personal Saviour, before any change could begin in us.
And so as many can attest, we were convicted of our sins and cried out to God for mercy and forgivenness, and Glory be to God, the Father, while we were still afar off, He ran towards us and hugged us to Him, and cried "bring the best robe, for my son who was dead is alive again, he was lost and is found."
Luke ch 15
And that day , that moment in time, we were reconciled to God forever.
He will never fail us nor forsake us, never!
So dear Mieka, first conviction of sin, then repentance for the sin, then God's forgivenness
of our sin, and the Holy Spirit indwelling us too, to teach us the things of God and to check us when we are drawn astray!
Hallelujah, what a Saviour! :D
The words of this great hymn tell it all, it is a great idea to read the words of old hymns, they are mostly scripture, not like some of the "christian" songs today! :)

For Mieka.
Jesus bids us shine
with a pure clear light,
like a little candle
burning in the night.
In this world is darkness;
So we must shine,
you in your small corner,
and I in mine.
Jesus bids us shine,
First of all for Him;
Well he sees and knows it,
if our light grows dim.
He looks down from heaven
to see us shine,
you in your small corner,
and I in mine.
Jesus bids us shine,
then, for all around;
many kinds of darkness
in the world abound
sin,and want and sorrow;
so we must shine,
you in your small corner,
and I in mine.

Hello C.P.'ers.
It is still raining here. Is it raining in Manchester Chris and Margit? Surely I must grow webbed feet soon if this continues. (ha I can sense Chris searching for something apt to post on here now watch this space........)
It is also very dark for the time of evening.. feels quite wintery.Time to curl up and watch t.v. then bed early I think with a good book., I am reading Mark Tulley, "Lives of Jesus". Don't worry about this Chris before you ask. I am well grounded. Today I wrote to Bishop Tom Wright to thank-him for his stand against all these lies of the Jesus seminar. I respect this man greatly.
I hope you feel a bit better tonight Pat. {{{Hugs}}}
Good night and God Bless all.
Love,
Jenny.
We are a bit farther than webbed feet Jenny! lol

Hello Everybody.
Sorry to hear you are poorly Pat. Â
Been busy working for a nice Lady creating a cottage garden.  This is so rewarding financially and also having the chance to  create a cottage garden I always wanted.
She is a nice Christian Lady and trusts me completely. Â She has two cats that come along and say hello now and then.
It was the removal of the plum trees that was so upsetting but they had to go to allow light into the area. Â The other plum trees were layered [leaned over after cutting into the base of the trunk] this will turn the horizontal growth into vertical growth. Â Then the new vertical growth can be trained as a espalier. Â Should be nice when everything grows next year.
Her brother will be married on Thursday to his sweetheart from France. Â He has terminal cancer caught from asbestosis from surveying old lofts etc from his job as a architect etc. Â They have a year old boy. Â Such a fine young man.
On the home front I decided to join weight watchers and have lost eighteen pounds in a month. Â Fourteen mile walk last week. Â Climbing fourteen hundred feet at Bolton Abbey. Yorkshire. Â Last few miles I ran home I felt so light on my feet having lost that weight. Â Stone and a half to go that will do fine.
That will bring me to twelve and a half stone.
Plenty of veg growing on my allotment. Â Afraid the raspberries never made it to the gate they were delicious.
Pulled about hundred onions and not forgetting the garlic. Â Comments have been made the next day about a garlic odour around my person. Â I just love garlic!!
Beetroot now what is the tip on boiling beetroot?? Â Do you top and tail it
Best wishes to all.
Alan
Â
Alan, when you boil beets (beetroot) leave about an inch of the stems on top and don't cut the tails. Boil until tender, cut off the tops, slip off the skins and nip the tails. If you cut them before boiling, they will "bleed out."
I heard such a sad story on last night's news. Now they an abortion ship where they take women and girls from countries where abortion is illegal, and perform the murders on the ship. They call it "Women on Waves." :'( How it must grieve God's heart when He sees such things.
Darrel and I are going to Garden in the morning to get a hand-held shower wand for Beth, do a little repair on an alarm system and pick up a few more things for her party. If we go early, then I will be in later to greet all of you.
Pat, I hope you're feeling better now!
I have been out to Al's house after work today to pick blackberries. However I think will ahve to pick more before Saturday. Then I will make the jam on sunday afternoon. There are berries growing by Gloria's house as well as up the road from me. Can't do anymore picking until thursday or friday.
Sorry I didn't make it in this morning or did I?
More later, got to fix my supper now.
TTYL
Marilyn, I hope you realize that wild blackberries are like gold. They are the best kind, make the best jam and cobblers. My mother who went to her reward 30 years made the best jam cake in the world. We would go out in the country and pick blackberries and she would make cakes, cobblers, jam. It is very nostalgic.
I just dropped in for a minute tonight to say hello. Pat I hope you get to feeling better soon. Think about me tomorrow. I’m going to the dentist and he may pull a tooth. It has been many many years since I have had a tooth pulled.
1 Tim 6:17-19
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Mieka - please carefully read what Chris and Papa John wrote. Â I think it will help you to understand. Â If your heart can truly say to God, "I have sinned. Â I am a rebel. Â I am estranged from You," then you are repenting. Â Then you simply must believe what Jesus said. Â He said, "He that comes to Me I will in no way cast out."
Marylyn - you mean you didn't get enough berries today? Â I'm sure I could get a few more, though I don't know how many. Â I don't want to fall into them!

We're so happy to have you here
Thanks so much, folks, for your good thoughts for me today. I'm sure that tomorrow will be much better.
Well, one deadline met. One deadline has been extended, thank goodness. I just explained that I cannot physically get the information in the original timeframe.
Thanks for bearing with me.
Yes, Janet, 16 more months to go, if I'm counting correctly.
Goodness - I'm tired. Have been up and going strong since 4 am this morning and it's now nearly 8 pm. I think my bed is ready and waiting...
Y-A-W-N-N-N-N!
G'nite, all.

As I've been lying in bed today, I've been humming this lovely hymn so thought we could all sing it together. ;o)

I will extend peace to her like a river,
and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream.
Isaiah 66:12
Words: Frances R. Havergal
Music: James Mountain
Like a river glorious, is God's perfect peace,
Over all victorious, in its bright increase;
Perfect, yet it floweth, fuller every day,
Perfect, yet it groweth, deeper all the way.
Refrain
Stayed upon Jehovah,
hearts are fully blest
Finding, as He promised,
perfect peace and rest.
Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand,
Never foe can follow, never traitor stand;
Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care,
Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.
Refrain
Every joy or trial falleth from above,
Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love;
We may trust Him fully all for us to do.
They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true.

And, while it's been a very busy day, I've thought several times today about this being the 31st anniversary of my husband's changing his home - from this world through the Pearly Gates and into his new home.
A wonderful christian, a good father, a faithful member of the church, sunday school teacher, church treasurer, deacon, choir member and well respected banker.
It's not mine to wonder why, but to rejoice that he was my friend and companion through 3 years of courtship and 14 years of marriage.
How blest I am that my life was touched by his.
Ruth Ann
And I rejoice with you, Ruth Ann, that you will be with your wonderful husband in heaven forever! We don't like to let them go, but what comfort it is, knowing we will join them again some sweet day. When you have dear ones in heaven, heaven becomes all the sweeter, doesn't it?
I just gave Darrel a haircut. I think I will go to bed earlier tonight. Sometimes I think I will, and it ends up being about the usual time after all.
Marilyn, those berries sound wonderful! I never have had any of them, but Papa John's report is good enough for me! ;D

A beautiful tribute,
RUTH ANN. I think of the song: "How beautiful heaven must be ... sweet home of the ransomed and free ... fair haven of rest for the weary ... how beautiful heaven must be" Made all the more beautiful by the presence of our loved ones who have gone before ... and JESUS most of all! :D

And thank you Sonja! I have a sister named Sonja, so, I am fond of that name.
:)
Welcome, Luke. Â Come on in and tell us a little bit about yourself - and your photography.
Hey Luke!
You can call me Pat. "Mrs. Scott" was my mother-in-law! LOL
Really, Luke, everyone just calls me Pat and that's just fine.
Luke, you say you're a senior in high school! What are your plans following this next school year? College?
And of course, we need to ask... What camera do you use? And how long have you been interested in Photography!?
Quote from: Al MoakWelcome, Luke. Come on in and tell us a little bit about yourself - and your photography.
Well, I'm 17 years old, I live in Chicago, and I am homeschooled. I currently have two brothers and six sisters, all younger than myself. My love of nature and travel lead to my interest in photography, which I haven't really pursued until recently. I especially like taking photos of birds, though they are hard to catch on film. I have an Olympus OM10, with a 28mm and 58mm telephoto lense. I usually use Kodak Color 200 ISO film because it's cheap. :) Anyway, I am glad I found a Christian Photography community.

I will be going to community college next year, and then transfering to a University the following year. :)

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:30-31 (Also based on Psalm 91)
Words & Music: by Michael Joncas
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord
Who abide in his shadow for life
Say to the Lord: "My refuge
My Rock in whom I trust!"
Refrain):
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand
You need not fear the terror of the night
Nor the arrow that flies by day
Under His wings your refuge
His faithfulness your shield
For to His angels He's given a command
To guard you in all of your ways
Upon their hands they will bear you up
Lest you dash your foot against a stone
Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you
Hold you in the palm of His hand
