Morning Devotional.....Yielded their bodies.Daniel 3:28
Present (yield) your bodies.... Romans 12:1
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego yielded their bodies "that they might not serve nor worship any God, except their own God."
The apostle challenges the New Testament believer to the same degree of sacrificial commitment.
Paul reminds us that it is our reasonable (logical) service or worship. "Present your bodies" implies "exhibit or proffer."
The world is watching us each day.
"Yield yourselves unto God...and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God" (Rom. 6:13).
--William GustafsonAfter all He's done for me,
after all He's done for me,
How can I do less
than give Him my best,
And live for Him completely,
after all He's done for me?
Wooohoooo!!!!!!!! ;D :o
Guess What!!!!??? :D
Chandraya read 5 stories today for the first time. She is loving every minute of it and so am I. She just glows when she reads and she even puts emotion into her reading which doesn't come till later for most kids.
She doesn't have the story memorized either. I tricked her because I thought the same thing. I put my finger on the second to the last sentence and she read it to me. She even sounds them out. Wow!! I am so jazzed! :'( ;D :o ;D :D :o 8) So many emotions running through me right now.
Here are the five stories she read today:
Dick
Look, look.
Oh, oh, oh.
Look, look.
Oh, look.
Jane
See, see. See Jane. Oh, Jane.
Look, look, look. Oh, oh, oh.
Oh, see. Oh, see Jane.
Funny, funny Jane.
Baby (her favorite story)
Look, Dick. Look, Jane. Look and see.
See Baby. See, see.
Oh, oh, oh. Oh, Dick.
Look and see. See Baby. Look, Jane, look. See Baby.
Oh, oh, oh. Funny, funny Baby.
Spot
Come, Dick.
Come and see. Come, come.
Come and see. Come and see Spot.
Look, Spot. Oh, look. Look and see. Oh, see.
Run, Spot. Run, run, run.
Oh, oh, oh. Funny, funny Spot.
Puff (this one is a bit hard because of the word jump. Give her a few days and she should have it down.)
Jump, Puff. Jump, jump, jump.
Run, Puff. Run and jump. Run, run, run. Jump, jump, jump.
Run, Puff. Run and jump. Run, run, run. Jump, jump, jump.
These are stories that I read when I first started to read in 1st grade. I loved them so I bought the book for Chandraya. I am glad she is enjoying them.

Sonya - We've been going through the exact same book. Noel will go grab it and come to us and say, I want to read you a story. She'll then flip through it to find one she wants and starts to read. It is fun to see, her have such an interest in reading. What's even better is when she figured out a story by herself and came and read it to us. She'll write us little notes, was funny the other day, Melanie (wife) and I were fussing a little, and she went and wrote a note for each of us and handed it to us. Notes said: "Daddy, no fuss." "Momma, no fuss." They just grow up too fast. My favorite joke is I'll stand her up on my knees and talk about how she has grown so much, then I'll say, "Stop growing up." She'll respond, "I can't help it, it's a natural part of life." :)
SONI and MIKE ... that is so exciting when our little ones begin to read and have such an excitement for learning! MIKE... I love what Noel said "I can't help it, it's a natural part of life." ;) Enjoy these wonderful people (future generation) all you can while you have them in your care.... God has truly gifted you ;)
Pat. thank-you dear.
Soni Bless you for sharing those treasured moments.

Have to rush. Doctor's appointment.
See you all later.
Luv u.
Jenny.
Zee. I read your post last evening. Oh dear, what a tragedy. May God bless you abundantly for what you did to assist at the scene.
Liz thanks Liz for the info re Iraq. We also have much to thank Persia (Iran) for as Christians., Also Did you ever read "Searching for Hassan"? I studied it with S.N. last year and together as a group we learned much of interest about Iran and the peoples....Mahlia was very informed and shared much of her knowledge.
Now I really must go.... ;D
Good Morning: I am here early, got up early. Thank you Pat for the devotion this morning. How are you feeling? Are you getting better?
Soni and Mike those are such precious moments with your little ones.
Jane any news on Bryan?
Jenny How did the Dr. appointment go today?

That is so cute. She must be your 5 year old? She sounds like a smart one or maybe just a kid with lots of attention from mom and dad! :D
Chandraya also has a note pad and pencil she carries around everywhere. I told myself I wouldn't teach my girls in fear they would be ahead of the public school kids, but it is out of my hands what they do on their own. I don't hinder their learning by all means. I just don't teach them like I taught my boys.
It is amazing how kids can be like a dry sponge. Taking in everything. Learning comes so easy for them.
I have been teaching her spanish and sign language though. The schools teach spanish in kindergarten to the advanced kids. 6 more days till school. <sigh>
Good morning, Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am going to be busy today, so I won't be in much.
Thanks so much for all your comments about Chandraya reading. <Soni feels pretty good>
Hope you all have a great day!
Love ya,
soni
Ah, yes,,,,,,,,so sweet watching/listening to those little ones learning! Abby is the same way, and I also bought her Dick and Jane, sentimental, because that's the book I had in first grade, too. Of course, then, I thought it was utterly boring, because my older sister taught me to read at 4 years old, and I wanted to read "real" stories!
I can't stay now, Darrel is already out at Beth's and we are revamping her ramp today. The message she got from the church was on their voice mail notification system---they were supposed to take her number off the list for that one time, but failed to do so. I think I have her "buffaloed" though, (It's almost scary to have someone trust you so completely!) Anyway, plans are proceeding for a surprise, even though the doubt has been planted. She said "well, Mom, surely they should have let you know something, because you would have to get me there, and you know I already have plans for my birthday!" heeheehee........ ;D :-[ :-X
See you later!
Good Morning from Ontario
Pat I trust and pray that you are feeling much better today.
Sonifo: Â I remember reading the Dick, Jane storries when I was a little girl it really brings back memories.
Janet: Â So sorry to here that someone spoke without thought. Â I just had that happen to me a couple of days ago and it sure bites.
Angela and Darryl Cox Happy Birthday
Now it is about time that I got busy with the house work. Â Then later this evening we have to pay a visit to the funeral home to pay respects to the family of our neighbour and dear friend Linda who delivered our daily paper and also sold Avon she was only 58 years young.
Ruth
Good Morning Everyone!! Â I am only stopping by for a moment before going to my work-out. Â
Hello back to you, JENNY. Â :D Â Hopefully all is well after your doctor appointment. Â BTW, Mahlia has been a terrific help to Joy and myself in dealing with the US Army and giving advise re: Bryan. Â She is a very knowledgable person on many subjects! Â
MARILYN~Joy has been on a trip across country for the past week, helping a friend move from New Jersey. Â The last communication was last Saturday when she called from Texas. Â No further word on Bryan, but she was thinking he might have called to John (his step dad in Mexico) after she left. Â I continue to pray for all involved in his life at this very stressful time.
JANET~I can only imagine how disappointed you must feel. Â I believe the party for Beth will still be very special and that it will bless her heart for a long time to come. Â Give her my love and keep much of it for yourself.

Hello Folks.
It's only me....reporting in!
Thanks for the concern Marilyn. I have some Anti-biotics. Oh dear, they don't usually work on me so the doc has given me a new one...ha ha!!! Ciproxin. Has anyone tried this one out? The instructions say that "can cause nightmares".Beta blockers do that for me...Honestly, what next? However can't risk the infection getting ionto my poorly ear as he's afraid I might have a perforated ear drum...One of my stapedectomies has inverted into the drum. The emergency referral appointment is a 13 weeks wait. They are innundated in E.N.T.

Whew! I am running around like a chicken with its head off!!!! I take two steps forward and one back....not getting anywhere fast today.Â
I got up early but nothing is being done as planned.Â
Pat, I tried to use GLOW and SHADOW on my Welcomes and they don't work. I noticed this a day or two ago also. Do you know why? Do others have the problem?
Janet, so sorry Beth found out about her surprise. The party may not be a surprise but I do believe there will be a lot of other elements that will be surprises. God Bless Beth and all her family and friends.
Sonja, I remember Dick and Jane and Spot stories. Now Puff is a new one to me!!! I can just see Chandraya's excitement as she reads.
Karma, I can see Rev TAS preaching, too! I am chuckling as I picture this in my mind.
I am so behind that if I go any slower today, I will be going in reverse. Ooops! That just contradicted what I said in my first sentence. See? It is one of those days!!!!<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))

Evangelism: Trusting the Lifeboat
And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be
saved, you and your household."
--Acts 16:30-31
Now, the matter of complete trust in the person of Christ.
No man has any hope for eternal salvation apart from trusting
completely in Jesus Christ and His atonement for men. Simply stated,
our Lord Jesus is the lifeboat and we must fully and truly be
committed to trusting the lifeboat.
Again, our Lord and Savior is the rope by which it is possible to
escape from the burning building. There is no doubt about it--either
we trust that rope or we perish.
He is the wonder drug or medication that heals all ills and
sicknesses--and if we refuse it, we die.
He is the bridge from hell to heaven--and we take the bridge and
cross over by His grace or we stay in hell.
These are simple illustrations, but they get to the point of the
necessity of complete trust in Jesus Christ--absolute trust in Him!
Who Put Jesus on the Cross?, 52.
"Lord, help me to make this clear as I share the Gospel. So many
seem to persist in wanting to trust Christ plus their own efforts.
Thank You for this free gift of salvation. Amen."

Hi everyone. I wanted to get here a little earlier than yesterday so I had some time to write.
Welcome Checksix, Woolady and Estada to CP. Also happy birthday to Daryl Cox and Angela.
I had a doctors appointment this morning and again it was about an hours drive. Unfortunately my PSA count has gone up again so am taking another series of antibotics for 30 days and then will have the PSA test again. I must rule out any problem here before even considering pursuing the heart transplant. I certainly have made no decisions regarding the latter.
By the way, Al, I agree with your comment a couple of days ago about having already had the important heart transplant when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Therefore whatever may come in the future while in this life is of only a temporary concern.
Sonja, I can read the excitement in your posting concerning Chandra's reading. I also remember the Dick and Jane stories as I learned to read. My cousin teaches in the public schools in Iowa and I have had two e-mails from her indicating she is almost beyond the point of frustration with the administration of the schools and the fact that now they are seem to be totally concerned with just teaching the kids the actual tests they are going teach so that the teachers and the administrators will look good when the kids do well and that the children are not really being taught. Sure hope that isn't the situation in most schools and that your girls will not have that experience.
Jenny, sure hope the new antibiotic doesn't give you nightmares.
Janet, guess I am relieved that the message Beth got wasn't from some person deliberately calling and shattering the surprise but rather than an oversight. I am sure Beth will forgive you for misleading her as your intentions are all for her benefit.
Jane, where do you go for your workout?. I changed my routine a little this morning and walked in the park rather than driving to the "Y" as it was very nice and the park is right beside the senior center where we have the Friday morning men's coffee.
Marilyn, I will check out your update regarding Gloria in the Prayer Request discussions. Hope your work day goes well.
Liz, very interesting information regarding Iraq. I think I had seen that before but good to review it.
Pat, great devotional today and I particarly liked "There is no such thing as part-time loyalty to Jesus Christ."
Zee, that was such an interesting post and you are certainly one busy lady. Those are long workdays. Isn't it amazing how much energy these little ones have. Sorry to hear about the sad new in your area.
Karmat, what wonderful memories you are storing away regarding Travis. Who knows, he may be a preacher someday.
Hi to Ruth, Chris, Skief, Sarah and all that come by later today.
Tonight begins our revival at church. I am looking forward to the weekend.
So many wonderful posts here today! Â I love the picture of Tas singing and preaching! Â What a great kid. Â Karma, it is so good to have you back with us, and I'm glad you are feeling better.
Zee, what a lovely post you put in last night! Â You sound like a terrific gal, and I'm anxious to get to know you better.
Liz, I had that information about Iraq, too. Â But I don't think it is from the koran, but rather from the Bible. (The first part of it, I mean..............latter part, yes.) Â Thanks for posting it.
Thanks, Jane. Â I know this is going to be such a special time for Beth, even if not the total surprise I had planned so carefully. Â That church uses a voice mail system to send out prayer requests, etc. and Beth's friend Cory had asked them to send the message, but to leave Beth's number off for this time. Â So much for technology. >:( Â ((((hugs)))) to you Jane.........Bry is still in my prayers.
Etta Sue, thanks for your kind words, too. Â I hope it works out so we can meet someday soon!
Hi, Pat! Â Glad you are feeling better, but please don't be staying up till the wee hours! Â You need your rest!!!
Jenny, 13 weeks wait for an EMERGENCY???  :o :o :o  Some emergency care!!  I think of an emergency as needing attended to in minutes or hours at most!  Goodness.  I hope it works out so you can be seen much sooner.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DARRYL AND ANGELA!!!
GREAT BIG WELCOMES TO LUKE, ZEE, WOOLADY, CHECK SIX AND ESTADA!!
Darrel and I worked really hard today out at Beth's trailer. Â We extended her ramp another six feet (and it's still too steep... :() Â It was really heavy and I think I strained my back holding it up so he could get it fastened. Â Then I sanded down her front door and put a coat of marine varnish on it to protect it. Â They took off her storm door, because getting out through both doors was too difficult for her. Â Thus the need for more protection for the wood door. Â Then I put Thompson's water seal on the new deck and ramp. Â Now I am TIRED. But I'm so glad we are getting things done to make her life easier.
Tomorrow will be a REALLY busy day, getting all the things hauled to the church, setting up and decorating, cutting up salad for a crowd, etc. Â So I will be scarce around here tomorrow, I think.
Ruth, the reason I didn't answer your questions about putting 8mm movies onto DVD is because I didn't know the answer!  But the guy told me today the normal cost is 27c per foot  :o  But he is giving me a break on the price and the total cost for the job will be $400.00.  That's still quite a lot, but those are priceless memories.  The old movie reels were getting dried out and brittle.  He told me these will just be "proofs" and I can watch them and list on a paper he will include the sequence I want them in, and he will do them over. When I learn more, I will tell you more.
I need to lie down a bit and see if my back will stop hurting. Â I have stuff to do tomorrow!!
Hi all! I'm at bernard's parents house. They invited us for supper, so here we are! ahhahha.
Not a lot going on today, just running around doing errands and such.
Glad to know that the little ones are enjoying reading. As a teacher at various levels, it seems that the children that can read and comprehend (and enjoy it) do better at school throughout. Travis can recognize the letters in his name, and some others, but numbers totally baffle him. Kinda like me.
I'd better go. He's asking his grandmother if he can see the germs. That can't be good.
Later and have an awesome weekend!
ha ha....Karma..I got some germs here. Don't know if they are the see-able ones though. These like to hide out in the dark and jump out on you when you least expect it. :o
Larry. Well I am still here. No nightmares yet. Sleep would be a nice change anyway! Hope your P.S.A. settles down brother. Take things easy for a while. "He will work it out"...Amen.
Janet. I will be thinking of Beth tomorrow and I pray it will be a wonderful day for all of you. A day to remember for the record books. Will there be some pictures for us to see?
I think it's just about time for a nice cup of tea. :P
See you tomorrow all.
Good night, God Bless.
Luv u.
Jenny.
Why did God force out the Anakites and give their land to the Israelites?
1) because the Anakites were evil
2) because Moses asked God for it
3) because of the Israelites love for God
4) because of all the Israelites had suffered
Blessings Pat,
     Â
Thank you for sharing todays thought. He (Jesus) is indeed alone worthy of all we can offer.

A couple of weeks ago, Anthony quoted part of a hymn and I've not been able to get it out of my mind since. Thought we could share it tonight together.

Hark, my soul! it is the Lord (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/N241.mid)
(Click to hear music)
William Cowper, 1731-1800
He saith to him again the second time, Simon,
son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him,
Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee.
He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Jn 21:16
Hark, my soul! it is the LORD;
'Tis thy Savior, hear his word;
JESUS speaks, and speaks to thee;
"Say, poor sinner, lov'st thou me?
I delivered thee when bound,
And, when wounded, healed thy wound;
Sought thee wand'ring, set thee right,
Turned thy darkness into light."
Can a woman's tender care
Cease, towards the child she bare?
Yes, she may forgetful be,
Yet will I remember thee.
"Mine is an unchanging love;
Higher than the heights above;
Deeper than the depths beneath,
Free and faithful, strong as death.
Thou shalt see my glory soon,
When the work of grace is done;
Partner of my throne shalt be,
Say, poor sinner, lov'st thou me?"
Lord it is my chief complaint,
That my love is weak and faint;
Yet I love thee and adore,
Oh for grace to love thee more!

Thanks to all for greeting me! I'm happy I found a place for Christian photographer's to gather.
In case you didn't read my other topic in the Intro forum, I just add a little bit about me.
I'm a junior at a small Christian high school. I've been shooting photos for about 9 or so months now after purchasing a Sony F717.
My gallery is at: www.rsphoto.fotopic.net (http://www.rsphoto.fotopic.net)
Thanks again!
ZEEBERS, I want to welcome you to CP. It sounds to me like you have a busy life with those long hours. But your work must be rewarding. Our Marilyn here does a lot of care giving work too. I am fortunate in that I have time on my hands as a retired minister and missionary. My health doesn’t allow me to do many of the things I used to do. The story about Cody is sad. We had a lady police officer a few weeks ago who was killed in a similar accident. This IS a great place to be.
Sonja, I can see that you are enjoying watching your children learn. Tell Chandraya that old Papa John remembers learning to read and he was in the first grade 72 years ago. I still remember how to read. I think I still remember Dick and Jane.
Skief, yes the grow up fast. My first little baby is 53 years old and she is a grandmother.Â
Jane, I think you had experience too in watching little ones grow up.
Welcome Checksix, Woolady and Estada
The best I can do with your question, Pat, is to say that Caleb asked Joshua for this land which included Hebron. Caleb had sided with Joshua when they had spied out the land and though 40 or so years had passed by he was at 85 just as strong as he had been before the 40 years of wilderness wandering.Â
Josh 14:10-14
10 "Now then, just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the desert. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!
11 I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.
12 Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said."
13 Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.
14 So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the LORD, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.
(NIV)

Pat, my answer is that the Anakites were evil. They were descendents of fallen angels and mortal women, and were giants.
I have the car loaded and ready to go in the morning, have taken a muscle relaxant and hope to get a good night's rest tonight.
I'm watching the diving at the Olympics.........amazing what those people can do!
Etta Sue, I'm surprised you don't remember Puff---she was the cat! ;) ;D
This little story shows how we sometimes don't think about the words we speak.
THE ATTORNEY for whom I work as a legal secretary was handling the disposition of a will. Because of the size of the estate involved, we spent several days on paper work with the widow. Afterward, my boss wearily remarked that settlement of the estate had entailed an unusual amount of effort.
"Yes, it did," said the widow, sighing. "You know, sometimes I just wish that John hadn't died."

BIBLE TRIVIA
Why did God force out the Anakites and give their land to the Israelites?
1) because the Anakites were evil
2) because Moses asked God for it
3) because of the Israelites love for God
4) because of all the Israelites had suffered
The answer is #1
Deuteronomy 9:4
"Do not think in your heart, after the LORD your God has cast them out before you, saying, "Because of my righteousness the LORD has brought me in to possess this land'; but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is driving them out from before you.

Hi, friends,
Couldn't get on the internet this morning (boo hoo). So I missed my early morning hellows from y'all.
It was great to read of the day's happenings and to hear the discussion of Dick and Jane (I remember the characters, too).
Well, got kudos for the reporting required this week. Also, I didn't think I 2would see my boss for another week, but he dropped by the office after his plane landed.
Well, must go - must rest up because I get to have dinner with Papa John and Cornelia tomorrow! Hooray.
See y'all later.
