Morning Devotional...

RECEIVE HIS MERCY

"O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever."
(Psalm 136:1)

God's mercy endures forever! His willingness to act on man's behalf is still operating in the earth. His mercy never runs out. Neither has it abated or weakened.

"Praise the Lord! His mercy endureth forever!" Mighty and powerful things happened when Israel said these words. They are words of praise and adoration to God.

When Solomon finished building the house of the Lord, the trumpeters and singers lifted their voices as one, and with trumpets, cymbals, and instruments of music, they praised the Lord saying, "For He is good: for His mercy endureth forever."

Jehoshaphat appointed singers unto the Lord to go before the army and say, "Praise the Lord! For His mercy endureth forever."

It has been thousands of years since the Lord said His mercy extended to a thousand generations, and His mercy continues to reach you day after day. He is still plenteous in mercy unto them that call upon Him. With your spirit, dare to stretch your faith to take in the boundless mercy of God. And say with your mouth, "The Lord He is good and His mercy endureth forever. His mercy surrounds me even today!"

I wanted to come and say I've posted a new pic in my gallery. Kim and I took the "boys" for a walk the other day.  I had my camera, of course, and took this.

Janet....the devotional is so true and inspiring...God's mercy enduring forever.   We just cannot go a day "Without Him"

Nita....Your dogs are really smiling at you!  Guess they know how to put on their face for the camera.

Carol, thank you for your concern.  Trying to find full-time employment is a frustrating challenge.

Pat, I don't think I say often enough....THANK YOU!

RuthAnn, Yes please, and thank you!  :'(...but not with sadness.  I have sent you a PM.

Now, to log off and get a batch of cookies finished, and laundry folded before bed.  I will most likely be away for the next few days for some needed R & R, but will be back.

Night all.

Pat you crack me up I love the frog. I snagged the frog hope you don't mind.

Janet great devotional.

Nita the boys are adorable.

Good Morning Kathy.

I am not going to work today I have to be at the Labor Temple in Eureka for a Union meeting at 11am and then to Blue Lake to have my car serviced at 2 pm. The kids have gone to Reggae on the River for the weekend, it is a Reggae Music festival that lasts for 3 days, down in Southern Humboldt county. Maybe 80-90 miles, Al could probably be more accurate with the distance.

I have not spent my time with the Lord yet so I will do that now and come back later.

Papa John:  Thank you for the messages on "friends".  I didn't realize that friends was used so often.

We just returned from a refreshing hour walk and the temperature is 60 degrees - perfect for walking in the sunshine.  We spotted several broods of ducklings and they have grown so fast since we last saw them only about two weeks ago.

This day isn't planned until late afternoon for church service.  With only one pastor now, I wonder if the attendance will keep up.

Yes it was a humbling sight , (those fawns) one I have never seen before.  The part about this that is so incredible is that there were within the city limits!

What an exciting mornimg we have had.  Our young cat has had her kittens outdoors and the squeeling from Kassie was something else.  I am a little cooncerned though, one of only 2 is quite cold, alive but cold.  I put the babies and mama into a box in my closet, to give her time to do some warming up.  Being a new mama, I think she is unsure of what to do.  I know they are only animals, but I do hate to see one of God's creatures suffering.  Time will tell.

Carol watching ducklings grow is exciting.  John saw a mother/farher duck try to cross a major highway.  Being in the truck going at road speed he could just hope they would turn around.  They did and scooted the babies back into the bush.  Good for them I say, eh?

We went into Value Village and were looking around.  Joohn spoted a briefcase that was just like the one he used in the truck, with handles intact.  His was missing a handle and the other remaining handle was not doing a job.  $3.00 later he is up and running again.  I got a Christmas present for Bonnie as well.  Can't tell in case she comes in to read!

Pat I do so enjoy coming here to "talk", thank you.

Have things to get done so bye for now.

JudyB here in Mckinleyville and on the 101 I have seen foxes, racoons and deer. One morning I was going through town to get the the freeway at the other end of town and saw a baby fox run across the road, of course I slowed down to let it get all the way across. Another time I was going to work early in the morning as saw a deer cross the street in front of me right in town.

Yes Marilyn it is an incredible thing to see wildlife in town.  John and I have many times driven the 101 from San Fran, to LA.  It is a trip we love, down the coast, beside the ocean.  One day I want to drive it by car and stop in the many interesting places along the way.  Perhaps when we do we will pick you up and take you with us!

John has put in for a western Canada trip.  It woould be nice too go to western Canada, I have been throough most of the USA states but not the Canadian provinces.

Bye for now

Judy, I have utilized that motto since I first read of this acronym. I've been working in my little former dining room (now my office). I'm so thankful to feel like doing the things that have cried out for attention for several months. God is so good.

The phone rang (a rare occurrence at this house) and it was the medical supplies place trying to ascertain if all is well with what I've received and "am I using it." My reply was, maybe...95% of the time!!!

Papa John, I, too loved the "dear friends" verses. You've been a dear friend for many years - we all love and appreciate you.

Nita, of COURSE there's enough to share. Soon we can sit down to a piping hot meal, freshly brewed sun tea (y'all know how to make sun tea?) and those tiny blueberry muffins I made yesterday. I took information from the box and calculated calorie count, etc. So, we could have one (or even two if you're so minded), since they only have 60 calories apiece and .5 grams of fat.

Janet, at the risk of making this post too long, I want to relate a story to you about the verse in the devotional today.

I think y'all know I founded and operated a very successful day care center/kindergarten for our church for about ten years (beginning in 1967). As I was trying to determine what prayer I would like for the children to use before snacks and lunch, I determine to use that very verse of scripture. I didn't want them chanting a sing-song rhyme - I felt that by this simple means, the children could at least commit one really important verse to memory.

Now - fast forward 30+ years...It's in the mid 1990's. I'm shopping at a neighborhood grocery when a handsome  blond, blue eyed young man approached me with a big grin. "Is that you, Miss Ruth Ann?"

"Yes, I'm Miss Ruth Ann, how are you?"

"Oh, I'm fine NOW. But I want to tell you that the verse of scripture we prayed before eating has been my lifelong grace at every meal. Here's why: Five years ago, I was driving very fast down a wet highway, skidded off a curb, and left the road. I was trapped and there was no way to yell for help. So, I sat there and wondered what would happen to me - would I die right there with no one to be with me? I was most definitely not a Christian, but the verse we prayed came to me, and I began to pray it - it was the only prayer I knew."

"Some time later, someone tapped on the window - a man happened to note sunshine flashing off my windshield and came to investigate the 'junk' someone had thrown on his property. Instead he found me injured and trapped. As he went to call for help, again, the only words that I could use were those in that prayer."

"Miss, Ruth Ann, I'm now a faithful Christian, my wife has become a Christian, and we're rearing our family in church."

"Thanks for being faithful to teach us God's word."

As I wiped the tears, he walked away, strong, confident, and I was very humbled to know that again, His Word is sufficient for our needs.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

What a wonderful testimony, RUTH ANN.   :D
Thanks for today's devotional, JANET.
G'Morning everyone ... I am getting off to a rather slow start this weekend.  Maybe things will pick up later.  I did a rather unusual thing last night -- I decided to sleep in my bed.  :)  I only got up once, at 3 o'clock, and then didn't awaken again until after 8 a.m.  Must've been what I needed.

I have added more photos to my saga of our trip if anyone's following it.

See y'all later ... after I do some maintenance around here.

Later .....

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Judy Have you traveled the 10 from SF north. that is the most beautiful part of the trip, going through the Redwoods beside rivers and by the ocean.

Ruth ann what an interesting testimony.

Thank you Janet for the devotional I don't remember if I said that or not.

Ruth Ann Thank you for that story.  IT brought tears  (and Cimi) to my eyes.  It is always an evcouragement to hear from those we have sowen the word to.

Marilyn That is one part of the trip we have not taken.  I am sure trucks do travel that portiion, we didn't get any loads there. We have been north as far as Uba on I-5 .  Does the 10 go north?  Thought it was even numbers east-west and odd numbers north and south?

Well I am going out to mow grass.  It will be almost the first time this summer as Melaura has commandeered the lawn tractor.

Bye for now

Not much to say today but I did have a sleepless night.  I must quit taking naps.  When I nap, I can't sleep at night.  I was up between 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. watching TV.  Then when I did go to sleep, I slept so sound and didn't get up until after 9 this morning.

I have made several phone calls reminding the girls in my high school class about our get together next Saturday.  And called my brother about our family get together next Saturday back in the woods.  Yes, both are the same day.  But that is fine.

And later, I am going out to eat with Judy, my high school classmate.  So another so so busy day.

I just read all the posts and even though I didn't comment on each of them, just know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers.  Now off to the Prayer Requests to read of Beth.

God Bless You All!  Yes, we aren't just members of CP....we are family!!

Ruth Ann - that was SUCH a wonderful story of God's Word bringing life and light!  Praise Him!
It's getting lighter and lighter outside - looks like the fog may lift in a little while.
We had our men's prayer breakfast this AM, and that's always a delight.

Good morning everyone.  Thank you for welcoming me into your devotional group.  Thank you for the encouraging Word of God.....and for the wonderful testimony of the power of teaching children the Word that will not return void.  I get teary and chilled (in a warm way) when I hear about "our many children that we have all influenced - when they return as adults and give those wonderful testimonies, that you had a Very Significant impact in their life.  God is so good to bring those reminders to us - that yes, we are called to minister.  I have formally taught sunday school and children's church for years when I was younger and informally I am still teaching -- and many times felt that it was just going in one ear and out the other...but for ONE life to be eternally touched -- that is reward!   I am living for the Lord now, just moving from one to the other, not formally associated with any church ministry here in Mexico, just serving the Lord.  I pray that I am hearing HIM every day -- and that lives are being eternally touched.  Bless the Lord Oh my soul and all that is within me bless His Holy Name....

thank you for the devotional and testimony -- I am blessed.

And -- NITA -- what adorable little boys you have!!!  ;)

PS I will add a photo of me whenever I can figure it out......

Actually, (I think) Marilyn meant Highway 101, not 10.  101 does go north from SF, crosses the bay, passes Santa Rosa, Ukiah, Willits, and several other places, then goes through the redwoods from Garberville through Rio Dell, then up through Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville (where both Marilyn and I live), then Trinidad, then through more redwoods clear on up to Crescent City, then up the Oregon Coast and part of the Washington Coast.  It's a long, but wonderful trip.  Yes, lots of trucks take it, though the longer hauls go up I-5 through central California, Oregon, Washington.

If y'all come up that way, stop and see us.

Well I'm happy I checked out the "new every morning" forum!  I love today's devotional...thank you.  I love hearing that God's mercy extends a thousand generations.

QuoteNo Judy never heard of this accident. With a population of over 14 million people not everything makes the news!

This sort of thing happens all the time.... Sorry to say!

Love, David.

That is the response I received from our cousin regarding the accident of Lee Kirkwood's  son in law.  Has anyone any further updates?

Al That makes sence to John, as a matter of fact John sood in amongst them early one morning after a rainfall and the aroma was wonderful.  He was trucking then too.

Instead of mowing I went to walk through the bush with John.  It is so quiet there all you hear is nature sounds.

Have a good day folks

Hi everyone.  I had a busy day as after coffee my good friend Rod and I went to Fry's to find door prizes for our PC User Group.  We had $200 to work with and before we got through had spent about $170 of the amount at Fry's and MicroCenter (another big computer store).  I also got a refurbished Canon color printer for $30, an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and an inexpensive DVD player, as our DVD quit working.  The man at the computer store told us that he has several UPS units and when the power goes out they will power a 60 watt light bulb for several hours.  That will come in handy the next time we have a power outage.

By the time I got home I was exhausted and took a nap for a couple of hours.  I seem to be worn out this evening so am going to sign off for today but want to share the following that a friend sent today.

SOMEBODY'S RAISING THEIR KID RIGHT!

One Nation, "Under GOD"

One day, a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The Teacher was explaining evolution to the children.

The Teacher asked a little boy: Tommy do you see the tree outside?

TOMMY : Yes.

TEACHER : Tommy, do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY : Yes.

TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.

TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.

TEACHER: Did you see GOD?

TOMMY: No.

TEACHER:That's my point. We can't see GOD because HE isn't there. HE just doesn't exist.

A little girl spoke up wanting to ask the boy some questions. The Teacher agreed  the little girl asked the boy:Tommy, do you see the tree outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY : Yessssss!

LITTLE GIRL: Did you see the sky?

TOMMY: Yessssss!

LITTLE GIRL: Tommy, do you see the Teacher?

TOMMY: Yes

LITTLE GIRL: Do you see her brain?

TOMMY: No

LITTLE  GIRL: Then according to what we were taught today, she doesn't have one!
