Morning Devotional...

Chosen...in Him before the foundation of the world...
Eph. 1:4

Long before the darkness fled:
Long before the sun did shine;
Long before earth raised its head--
Jesus loved this heart of mine.

Long before man walked away:
Long before our sin and shame;
Long before earth's darkest day--
God in Heaven spoke my name.

Long before the Christ was born:
Long before Golgotha's tree;
Long before the crown of thorn--
God's great grace included me.

Long before my sinful will:
Long before my earnest plea;
Long before, He loved me still--
And He planned to die for me.

Long before His face I see:
Long before I reach that shore;
Long before Eternity--
Jesus loved me, yes He loved me--
LONG BEFORE![/color]

Boy!  I sure can't wait till Saturday Morning when we set off for Calgary, if for just to get a rest!  LOL  I hope that Judy and Norm will be quiet while I'm driving so I can have a nap!

I've only been in the house today for such a short time and tomorrow isn't looking much better.

I wonder how the judging went at the fairs where Janet was.  Hope you got some photos, Janet!

Did you find out anything about your leaky roof, Marilyn?  I sure hope so.

Let's remember to pray for Papa John and his back problems.  Wasn't today the day he was going to have some injections?

It will be great when Ruth Ann gets home so that we'll see photos of the new little one.

I must get to my bed now.

Everyone, have a wonderful day tomorrow and I'll check in when I can.

 :)Good morning everyone :) ;)

I thought i would pop in in the morning to read the devotional along with my Bible reading. Thank you, Pat.  Where are you Iain? I pray that you are not "under the weather" today.  Sounds like yesterday it was pretty in England

Ria, thank you for posting here.  Please put in some Dutch words for us to learn...please  ? thank you? I love Jesus? God is good? and whatever else you can think of.

Papa John, how did the treatment go with your back injection.  I truly hope it works with you and will be praying for your discomfort to disappear.

Jane I think that your pastor is so courageous.  She has so many praying for her and she, herself, has the faith that will get her through no matter what!

Everyone have an extra good day.  Marilyn, Etta Sue, Jerry, Pinkie, Karmat, Sonja (where are u), Judy B, Judy, Janet, and all the others. I love you ..but God loves you more.   :D

Good morning, friends,

It seems I've caught a summer cold and am running a fever, so I've packed my things and am going to load them into the truck. I may head for home without awakening the kids, since no one here needs to get sick.

Baby Georgia is doing well. She's to see the doctor on Friday. Pam worries me because I fear she's taking on too much very early. I hope she lets Mark pamper her a bit until she feels better.

Well, I'm not certain when I'll get the photos. Pam was to download them to her computer, but she didn't say she had done so last night. Hopefully she'll e-mail some of them to me .

See y'all in Nashville!

12.45 p.m.

Hello everybody, I'm calling in quickly...Just to K.I.T. (keep in touch).
It's such an amazing day that I am going into the garden for a while and then  to the park later.

I have been to church for Holy Communion this morning.  Normally the ancient church is freezing cold but today one lady walked out because it was so hot in there!.......Not me, I am praising God for the opportunity to be able to share with brethren. The building is normally too cold for my metabolism!

Today is "The Feast of the Transfiguration"....and this is a wonderful Bible Passage.Matt 17. I think of Moses who died but it was obvious he was given a new body! Elijah went straight up to Heaven and our wonderful Jesus talked with them and was changed in appearance to the eyes of his dear friends.. .Yes, Al.  the Law and the Prophets! I won't expound on this. I'm sure  you will Pastor.

Surely this gives us hope.  Moses carried the sins of the children of Israel in the wilderness and he had to die before they saw the Promised Land. But his body underwent a change. God was certainly showing us a lot of things here.

We as Christians can see the promised Land through the eyes of faith., Because of Jesus' sacrifice.

A nice little anecdote from Jean, the Minister's wife.  She told us that when pilgrims visit Mount Tabor (believed to be the site of the Transfiguration) the taxi drivers feel they have a special dispensation from God because so much praying goes on in their cars.....they drive like maniacs up the hill apparently.I haven't been  but she has. The mount is almost 2000ft high!

I'm off now but send love to all and God's richest blessings,

Journeying mercies for dear Pat and her motley crew!
Please God put your hand on Pat and rest her in body and mind during this time away. Bring her back to us refreshed.

Prayers for Iain too for a time of blessing and peace.

Dear Ruth Ann, get well soon.

Good morning everyone...just checkin in!

Today is Wednesday and church tonight.  I took an unchurched lady to church last Sunday and she enjoyed it.  She called me last night that her son had run away.  I was out showing those slides and didn't check my messages until this morning.  When I called her this AM her son answered the phone!  She wants to go to church with me tonight, and wants her son to go also.

Please join me in praying that he will come with us, and that he will find a home where he wants to be plugged in to serve God in a radical way!

Hi everyone.

Jenny, thanks for your words this morning and Pat that devotional poem is special.

Pat, do you often sleep while you are driving?   ;D  Norm and Judy will have to stay alert.  (Of course, I know you are just kidding.)  Your time in Calgary should be such a nice change of pace and a time to get some rest.

Ruth Ann, sorry to hear of your cold and hope you have a nice trip home.  We always rest better in our own homes.

Pinkie, it is wonderful that the lady wants to return to church.  The Spirit is at work and hopefully her son will also be lead to Christ.

Good morning, Paulette.  Laundry may not seem very exciting but it is certainly important work.

Good to see you posting Kathy.

I certainly enjoyed my time with the folks at Calvin Cove yesterday.  One of the ladies said she remembered me and she was much younger the last time I was there (about 2 months earlier).  We all had a good laugh together.  These folks are so special.

Tonight is choir practice and don't have anything particular on my schedule today so will do my Bible study,  work on my computer and rest.

Papa John, hope your back is feeling better.

Well, a good morning to you all!

I had an email from Iain saying that when he tried, he couldn't get into the site as they must have been servicing or something.  So he's away to the other side of the island with his photos.  He won't be home till late.

Yes, Paulette and Larry, I'll try to slow down.  LOL

I must go and pack my Avon order to deliver before I leave.

Talk to you all later.

Ruth Ann, I expect that we'll hear from you when you reach home.  Sorry you're not well.

Jenny, isn't it wonderful that we don't have to go to these places such as you mention to worship our God and remember Him?  I'm so happy that because He is with us if we are Christians, we can just spend special time alone with Him.

As I was driving down from the camp in that terrible rain storm on Sunday, I thought of Janet and her hay bails.  At the gate of a farm there were four bales--two side by side and two on top of them and then were decorated so specially as a bride and groom.  It was amazing!  But the rain surely would have ruined my camera so no photos, Janet!

Pinkie, great that this lady wants to go to church tonight with you.  Wonderful too if her son goes as well.  Is he a young teen?

Hi Kathy!

Good Morning. Pat what a wonderful poem to start the day. Thank you so much. I forgot to mention yesterday that I love "It is well with my soul" thank you for posting that again. That is a very touching song when you remember why it was written.

I had a very good interview yesterday with the job placement lady at the AARP office. She is trying to set up an interview for me with an 85 year old woman who needs a caregiver 2 days a week and pays $14.00 per hour. That would be terrific, So please pray that we can get this set up.

I got my certificate of completion for the first 9 hours of caregiver classes last night. Now on to the more intensive taining until the end of September.

I am still having  trouble getting the little dog to eat much. She picks at her food and only gets a very small amount, but her wounds are healed and the stitches will come out on Monday.

Enough here about my life. I hope and pray everyone is doing well today and Iwill be back later, another full day then Bible Study tonight.

My landlord is on vacation and won't be back until Saturday. Please Lord don't send the rain until after the roof is fixed.

Pinkie for me it was tears of praise and thanksgiving to hear someone wanting to hear more of Gods word.

Judy B are you up and going yet, I enjoyed your visit yesterday.

Papa John pain of any kind is no fun but I do think that back is one of the worst, a cousin of ours is going for needles every other day for pain because she has allergys to prescription meds.

Mondays rain put our hydro out for approx 3 1/2 hrs. we had rain on tuesday as well and even now it is cloudy with a chance of thunderstorn this afternoon.

Marilyn ~ Thank you for the clickable.  Maybe Jerry can benefit from that website, too!

Pat ~ Just think!  We will see each other soon.

Judy Mc ~ We will see each other soon, also.  Jerry is in a private room...all of them are private.

Ruth B ~ Sorry to hear of your fever.  The new baby certainly doesn't need that.  Hope you have a safe trip home.

Kind of cloudy today.  Must get to the bank.  I don't know if it is open this afternoon or not.  So I want to go before noon.  Just talked to my son, Tony.  He is wishing me a good and safe trip.  So much to do....so little time.

Well, this morning I am feeling pretty good.  I am going to the store with Cornelia for our big grocery shopping for the month.  When we get there I get one of the little electric carts which makes it easy.

The injections I will have is scheduled for tomorrow.  This will be four steroid injections into four different parts of the back.  These injections are for arthritis of the spine.

Pat, you will see some of my friends in Calgary.  Tell them hello from Papa John.

I hope you all have a good day.

Good Morning ... I came in here right behind PAT last night, and wrote a really wonderful message to post  :D  But it got torn up and thrown in the trash!  :'(
I don't know what happened, but it looks like Iain had the same sort of trouble.  I just turned off the 'puter and went to bed.   :P

PAT~Have a great time in Calgary.  This will probably be the largest gathering for y'all ... sorry I can't make it this time.   :'(  As Jerry says: Just too many $$$ from here.  Tell everyone "Hey there" from Jaywalker.

I'm glad ETTA SUE and JUDY and NORM McK get to go, too ... I know y'all will have a great time of meeting and greeting ... and picture taking.  Keep those cameras clicking, okay? 8)

KATHY~Yes, my pastor Bev has a marvelous attitude and a strong faith in God her Healer.  This morning she goes for her second chemo treatment.  Continue to pray for her strength to increase.

I'll be back later ... places to go, people to see, things to do ~~~~

Hi Jane...

The numbers have gone down a bit for the Calgary Bash as some people got scared of the SARS problem (even though this was a couple of thousand miles away!) but there will still be about 60.

Yep!  Cameras sure will be ready.

I got a funny error last night too--something about Gateway something or other--and I thought it was my own ISP so maybe it was across the internet.

Good for you, Papa John, using one of those motorized carts!  How I wish that Jack would have!  LOL He used to say, "Hey, honey!  I'm no crippled civilian!"  HAHAHA!  And then he'd find a bench to sit on and leave the shopping to me!  I'm so happy that Cornelia will enjoy your company walking around the store.    One time, on the way home from dialysis, he found a comfy swing to sit on and when I had finished the shopping, he said that that was the most comfortable swing he'd ever sat on!  They were on sale so I bought one for him and it really is so comfortable.  During the summer months (IF it's not raining), I sit on it with my coffee and have my morning devotions.

Yes, I remember that, Jane, about the PA Bash.  Ardie almost thought she was going to cancel it.  Glad she didn't.

Post by: Pat on August 06, 2003, 12:15:20 PM
When Iain couldn't get onto the site this morning, he sent me the following.  It's so good.

Posting for Iain...

'Be it know unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.'
Acts 13:38-39

It does not seem to matter how long we may have been following the Lord we still have a tendency to try and work out our salvation by good works. Will I ever learn?

We are saved by grace and by grace alone. We rejoiced in that salvation when first we heard it. Why then, do I now try and perfect God's perfect work through my own good works?

Justification by faith is the foundation of our belief.

Redemption was purchased with the precious blood of Jesus on the cross at Calvary. His resurrection on the third day was the Father's seal of approval.

God will justify a sinner who believes!

This is God's way of saving sinful men. It is the way He has chosen to redeem lost men. We could not have dreamed up such a scheme.

If I therefore accept that God's way is best, then why Oh why do I try and add to it? (When Jesus turned the water into wine at Cana, He instructed the folk to fill the waterpots. They filled them to the brim. Why? So nothing could be added!) Nothing needs to be added to our Lord's finished work of salvation.

I love the position and freedom which justification affords me, yet when I fall I resort to 'homemade' tactics!

D.I.Y. redemption!!

I can hear Satan sniggering saying, 'There he goes again!'  Instead of honouring God and His way of doing things, I take the part of the evil one and try to please God by good works. God is not pleased and never will be pleased with any of my attempts to justify myself.
His way is always best. It is so simple, so free, so unbelievable! I cannot accept this as a gift. What stops me? PRIDE!!!! I am full of it!

A humble man is like a beggar accepting whatever gift the Lord places before him. He knows full well that he has not earned or deserved a gift, yet he is in no position to turn them down.
Neither am I!

I was so heartened by what I read this morning, especially the verses that I have penned above. They were so sweet to my soul. Sins forgiven and justified from ALL things! My soul was quickened into prayer and I found myself repenting of my sinful ways and accepting fully - once again - God's way of salvation.

There is no other way. I can now rejoice in a standing before a Holy God of which I am not worthy.
God justifies sinners who believe!

Just a quick hello and a little note to let you know I have read your posts and will be praying for everyone.
It always blesses me so much to sense the "family"
here at CP. You are all so thoughtful of each other. It is such a blessing to know you.
I forgot her name, and I'm not sure how to get back to that posting without losing what I have already typed, so please forgive me, but the woman from Holland who's post Pat posted was a real delight! What a sweet and gentle spirit is revealed in her writings.
I will go back and write down her name for future reference.
I am resting in Him the best I am able. There have been some interesting decision making situations before me the past few days, and I have been made to take a good look at how I think about myself in comparison to my understanding of how God thinks of me.  The most amazing thing is happening! I am choosing the things which I feel would best honor Him and I feel so much freedom in the knowledge that His will always be the better choice.
I have been participating in the UseFilm site. I now have a page there of photos which are not yet on my Creation'sCreations site. If anyone is interested, you  can view them at

http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/20225.html (http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/20225.html)

I am really enjoying this site and feel as if I am traveling the world each time I visit there. The images are very  professional and the participants are wonderful. I even get critiques on my photos in other languages which I have to use a translator to read!

well, gotta run. Time to upload photos to send to my web page designer.
Wishing you all God's very very best.

Here's a funny for y-all to enjoy.

A little boy opened the bigf family bible. He was fascinated ashe fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf  that had  been pressed in between the pages.

"Mama look what I found," the boy called out. "What have you got there, dear?" With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered "I think it's Adam's underwear!"

I received this in my email today.  It is Author Unknown.

THE BLESSING IN "NO"

I asked God to take away my pride.
God said "No."
It is not for Me to take away,
but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said "No."
Her spirit was whole,
her body was only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said "No."
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
it isn't granted,
it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said "No."
I give you blessings,
happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said "No."
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to Me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said "No."
You must grow on your own,
but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said "No."
I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said... Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!

Author Unknown

May we all rejoice in the "no's" in our lives

Judy B
I have seen this before and am so blessed to have it once again brought to mind. Thank you.

Pinkie:
Thanks. I have been busy getting my finances in order and preparing new photos for my website. Still not where I want to be, but getting closer with each new day.
I am praying for that teenager in your life.
16 is such a difficult age. So much outside influence. I know the youth group and our church were  very valuable tools that God used to help my youngest get through his teens.
