Verse for Today...
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will[1] ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples."

Morning Devotional...

Ye also helping together by prayer for us.
2 Corinthians 1:11

What blessings are bestowed upon us by those who never cease to intercede on our behalf!

Whether it is a lonely missionary, pioneer worker, godly elder, faithful Sunday school teacher, or one of many others serving in one way or another, are you helping them by prayer?

In busy city centers, quiet seaside towns, in market squares, and isolated rural areas there are many who need your prayers.

Do we pray for those in places where lives are in constant danger?

Praise the Lord for faithful prayer warriors!

And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
Exodus 25:22

From every stormy wind that blows,
From every swelling tide of woes,
There is a calm, a sure retreat;
'Tis found beneath the mercy seat.

There is a place where Jesus sheds
The oil of gladness on our heads;
A place than all besides more sweet;
It is the blood bought mercy seat.

There is a scene where spirits blend,
Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
Though sundered far, by faith they meet
Around one common mercy seat.

There, there, on eagles' wings we soar,
And time and sense seem all no more;
And heaven comes down, our souls to greet,
And glory crowns the mercy seat.

Oh, let my hand forget her skill,
My tongue be silent, cold, and still,
This bounding heart forget to beat,
If I forget the mercy seat!

Pat...........

Thank you for this mornings Scripture and devotional.  Vivian and I were watching "Love Worth Finding" last Sunday and the pastor said something quite profound.  He said that people are focusing on the "Baby" of Christmas, and not who he was.  It didn't take much to understand where he was going.  Jesus, the baby, was (is) God the Savior.  Secular folks don't really see the "baby" of Christmas as the Savior of the world.  He included Simeon in his sermon and quoted Scripture (Luke 2:25-32) where Simeon ("And the Holy Spirit was upon him) held Jesus to his own breast and said: "For mine eyes has seen thy salvation."  Simeon knew he was holding the Savior of all mankind in his arms and he was now ready to die.

When we speak of the "baby" we think of Jesus as the Messiah.  One day it will be illegal to mention His name, let alone that He is the Messiah, God Almighty.  How interesting that we are witnessing the beginnings of the last days.

Good morning/afternoon!  We did go swimming again today.  I don't like to miss that very often, as the day just seems to go better after I get some exercise.

Our snow is over, frozen hard and crunchy.  We may get more on Friday.

Jenny, I do pray you get warmer weather so you can get out and about.  I think your young friends are missing their "living water" you bring to them!

Hello, Ria!  Good to see you today!  ;D

I have a nice big framing order to work on today.  Praise the Lord, He brings me business just when I need it!

Talk to you later!

After reading eight pages of posts for yesterday I have come to this conclusion!!!

1) We have at least two airheads on CP.

2) The ones who aren't airheads have headaches in one form or another.

Conclusion....You have to have something IN your head to have headaches!!!

Wonderful posts.  Refreshing readings.  Praise God!

Short night last night!!!  Jerry and I got to church at 6 p.m.  The rest of the small group showed up shortly....Jerry and I are most always first.  The lady that was the head honcho found out Monday that her daughter's Christmas program at school was last night so she couldn't go.  She gave us the address and said they were expecting us.  We loaded our cars and went to find the address convoy style.  We found Walnut just fine.  House number 901 and right beside it was 911.  Where is 907?  Six cars idling on the street.  Two ladies go to 901.  Do you know where 907 is?  There is no 907!  No one had front lights on on that street.  Maybe it was 709?  One car went to find 709...a school taking up the whole block...not there.  Maybe 917.  Not them at 917 either.  So then two men and a lady went to the school where the Christmas program was being held.  Two men on one side of the room, the lady on the other...walking in the dark...looking at each row...finally the lady found Shelley.  Pssst!  Shelley!  Shelley looked up...surprised!  She walked to the aisle and went out with the lady.  I am sure the man said 907, she said.  Someone even called the police.  No such address!!!  When they came back to the convoy they drove in the alley....they spotted a pumpkin with the name of 'Sarah' on the pumpkin.  Hmmmm!  The 8-month old babies name is Sarah!!!!   I wonder....they knocked on the door.  There was baby Sarah, her mom and dad!!!!!  What address you say?  904!!!  And where is the convoy?  Right in front of 904!!!!!!  And what a beautiful little baby Sarah is.  She loved her little toys.  And the parents were overwhelmed by all the gifts of food, formula, diapers, paper items etc.  One thing about it....our small group is persistent!!!!

We then all went to the pastor's home where we had our small group meetings.  We oohed and aahed Deborah and Mark's Christmas decorations and snacked on food and drinks.  We are going to start a Bible study Jan 6 and the first and third Tuesdays thereafter.  I am really looking forward to this.

Upon returning home, from way down the road I saw a car backing out of one of these drives.  Then a car turning into one of these drives.  Seems Kay Don was taking Ivalou home and then driving into his drive.  I got in the house and had a couple of messages from two cousins, saying they would call Ivalou.  Since I knew she was awake, I called her (11 p.m.).  Yes, she got messages, too, but nothing in the messages as to why they were calling.

Well, this morning at 8 a.m. the phone rang.  Cousin Larry.  Saying he has two FREE tickets for tonight to see 'The Temptations' at the Paramount Theater in Anderson.  (The Gaithers have a video filmed at the Paramount Theater)  So he is bringing by the tickets this evening and Ivalou and I are going to see The Temptations!!!!

Whew!  I am tired!!!

;D ;D ;DEtta Sue, you are so funny!  Airheads!  Hmmmm.........I guess whatever used to be in my head that caused the headaches must have evaporated out my ears!   ;) ;D ;D  I am so happy I don't get headaches any more, except when really stressed or when my back/neck is messed up and I need a chiropractic adjustment!

That was quite an ordeal, finding the family you went to bless.  Took me a while to figure out where and why you were going.....??  Then it finally came clear.

Have fun at the Temptations thing!

Wow Etta Sue!
What an awesome day the Lord had given you.  I bet that gal with the baby is still gleeming with joy!  Thanks for sharing that. Brought a tear to my eye.  Congrats on the tickets.  Have fun and be sure to tell us all about it.
 :D

Hahhaha...thanks for the good laugh.  Being an airhead is a good thing, right?  ;) ;D

Ria~Thanks.  How is the weather over there today?  How is that new little princess doing?

Lee~It is interesting that you bring that up about the "baby".  I was telling Chandraya about Jesus yesterday and told her that Jesus wasn't only born on that day but he was born for us.  He is our savior and He died for us, for our sins.  I told her the whole story.
You should have seen her eyes as I used the nativity set and gestured their every move.  I also told her that Mary was to call him Emanuel(sp) which means God with us.  She got excited and remembered the song she sang that had Emanuel(sp) in it at church and she sang it for me.  hehehe...She is now playing with nativity set herself.

Hi everyone from a wet and chilly Georgia.  However, the sky is getting lighter and it is suppose to stop raining about noon.  I told Pat I would go to do a little grocery shopping for her after the rain stops.  No sense in getting out in the wet and cold this morning.

Sonja, what great news on your MRI.  I join all the others in expressing gratitude to God for keeping you safe.  Hopefully the headaches will soon disappear.  I am like Janet, I no longer have the headaches but think it has something to do with the hardening of my arteries.  Unfortunately, both of my children still suffer from them as it seems to be an inherited trait with my father and grandfather having them until a bit later in life when they no longer suffered them.

I just finished reading the postings for yesterday and it was so good to read so much good news.  Am not going to write individual responses today as have things I need to do.

Hope everyone has a good day.

We have two topics in our prayer section about pornography.  Well, I think we can all use some GOOD news on that front!  This is a bit long, but worth reading, if you are concerned about the future of our youth and our country.  PRAISE THE LORD!!

When the chips are down, Christian ministries did rally God's people demonstrating so beautifully in this holiday season that Americans still do care passionately about their youth, decency and modesty.  They care enough to make a difference.

ABERCROMBIE ANNOUNCES MAJOR CHANGE IN DIRECTION

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Abercrombie & Fitch, under fire from some consumer groups for its racy catalogs, said Tuesday it would stop issuing them and halt publication of its holiday issue.
Click Here (http://money.cnn.com/2003/12/09/news/companies/abercrombie/index.htm)

The Columbus Ohio(where A&F resides) radio station interviewer, Bob Burny, Radio 880, I believe,  asked a great question.  Doesn't it seem as though A&F has been more concerned with selling a sexually deviant lifestyle than in selling clothing?

With great sadness, I had to concur.  "Yes.  That has seemed to be the case."

Yesterday, when I received a call from CNNMONEY at the end of the day asking for my reaction to the news from Abercrombie & Fitch I was relieved.

ABERCROMBIE ISSUED A STATEMENT WHICH IN PART STATED:

"While it has enjoyed success with the Quarterly over the years, the company believes it is time for new thinking and looks forward to unveiling an innovative and exciting campaign in the spring."

MANY WOULD CREDIT US AS BEING A MINISTRY THAT FOUGHT THE FIGHT OF FAITH ON THIS IMPORTANT SOCIETAL BATTLE.

I recall years ago when Calvin Klein was pushing the envelope with images of scantily clad youth on posters on major city buses.  The American people rose up against it.

I wondered then how long America would yet be able to send such a clear message of indignation that a seemingly conscienceless corporation would necessarily be "spanked" by angry consumers and be impacted enough to withdraw their seedy advertisements.

This victory yesterday was our most recent example that multitudes yet in our beloved country do not find scantily clad youth portrayed in photos depicting casual, recreational, deviant sexuality acceptable and will not be supported in the shopping place.

When the chips are down, Christian ministries did rally God's people demonstrating so beautifully in this holiday season that Americans still do care passionately about their youth, decency and modesty.  They care enough to make a difference.

A special thanks to our ministry friends who in recent weeks rallied their supporters so well. There are many of those ministries actually but you so beautifully won the day as you let the people know and once they knew they spoke as ONE.  And Abercrombie's
stock plummeted.  Percentage point by percentage point - day by day over the last weeks in a stock market climate when so many companies are reporting a positive tide.

A special thanks first, of course, to our staff, for quarter after quarter - revealing the damaging facts behind A&F. Trying again and again to tell the A&F story and trying to get others to see and take a stand through relentless email alerts, multiple website updates telling and retelling of the concern, the distribution of thousands of bumper stickers - most of them freely given, untold numbers of interviews - coast to coast, and most recently through the distribution of t-shirts exposing A&F in their exploitation of youth (though many will remain in a box as this emphasis just got off the
ground). To God be the glory!

Thanks to Rick Schatz of National Coalition for the Protection of Children and Families and their work to invite Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family and others into the battle.  We know what Dr. Dobson's passionate voice for decency has so often meant to the cause!

Thanks to our faithful friends at AFA and Donald E. Wildmon for their steadfastness.

Thanks to Morality in Media for encouragement and their presence in the fight.

Thanks to our great friend Art Ally and their great ministry, Timothy Plan.

Thanks to Bob Knight and Martha Kleder and Culture and Family.

Thanks to CCV out of Cincinnati and Phil Burress and their great full page ad in USA Today in recent days.

Thanks to Breakpoint and Chuck Colson for their recent radio message and email alert.  Thanks for your faithful and powerful messages to the Christian community.

Thanks to Phil Sheldon of conservativepetitions.com and their great encouragement and efforts to assist us in rallying thousands and thousands of others.  Thanks Phil.

And a special and deep thanks to my godly friend, helper and encourager, Mr. Steve Ensley, President of American Family Online. Without his help, I would not have the ability to email messages
to fight the fight we are called to fight.

And thanks to tens of thousands of you who cared so much that you displayed a bumper sticker, downloaded a fact sheet and circulated it to others.  Thanks to those of you who sat down with your young person and urged them to love Christ so much that they choose to identify with Him - not with the darkness of A&F.  Thank you, too, to those pastors who were willing to use the A&F concern to make a sermon(s) practical to the everyday and challenged your people to
allow Christ to impact your all of life - even your shopping.

And thanks to you young people who have already the spiritual courage to stand against the tide of unbelief and not go with the flow.  Thank you for sporting a bumper sticker on your notebook
or on your car.  Thank you for being willing to make an issue out of it and share it before your youth group or in your Sunday School class or in a class at your public school. Thank you for
your love for Christ and your willingness to identify with Him.

AND THANKS TO LEADERS WITHIN THE CORPORATE WORLD.
As some of you know, we contemplated boycotting a local mall in the Grandville, Michigan area.
We wrote letters to all of the stores in the mall and enclosed pictures of concerning wall displays.
We urged them to speak up for decency in the marketplace.  I know that some leading corporations did just that.  I believe they were another pressure point that A&F experienced.

And thanks to Abercrombie & Fitch for making the decision to pull your pornographic quarterly catalog.  It has never been our desire to hurt your business or any of you personally.

THANK A&F:

LASTLY, THIS.
We are living in serious times. Some corporations have become so careless in the images and themes they use to sell their product.  Our children, famiy and Christian heritage is much to precious to give in and give up.
We must continue to care and "fight the fight of faith."  We need God's grace.  I for one intend to stay in His Word - It is the power unto salvation and gives daily strength to discover more and more how to be more like Him. Daily I find strenth and help to endure.
Together, let's keep on. And again thanks to all and a special apology to anyone or any organization that worked so hard AND YET I inadvertently forgot to thank and credit
you.  To you, I apologize.

Thanks to everyone who prayed.  Please keep it up.

Hello Everyone...

It's a nice bright day here in Guelph so I'm going out to put some things away in the shed that I never got done before the last snow came!  :-[

I'm going to go to our Page 1 of today's New Every Morning and go into each post to find out why the CP "container" is broken.  I think it might happen when we use a large font over a great area.

If you see that I edited your post, that's what I'm doing as we can't have the "container" or the nested tables that CP is built on looking like that.

I'll be back!  I'll run back, Lee!  HAHAHA

Title: Re:New Every Morning~December 10
Post by: Pat on December 10, 2003, 12:43:27 PM

I've adjusted several of our messages on the first page.

Let's try to refrain from using lines and lines of capital--especially if the capitals are a larger font.  On the internet, it has come to mean that if a person types only in capitals that they are angry and shouting!  LOL

So, I try never to type in capitals.

Christian Photographers forum software is many, many tables all nested inside each other and if our post is too large, we "break the container" causing a side to side scrolling.

If a URL to a website is pasted in and not made into a clickable, then that could cause the same thing to happen if the URL is very long.

Come down to our "Information and Classes for Member" area and find out how to make a clickable link and that will solve that problem.

Anyway, I've fixed the problem now on our page one of today's topic.

Hello everyone!!  Just taking a break from paperwork at work.  ugh.

It is rainy, rainy, rainy here in Western North Carolina.  Did I mention that it is rainy?

<karmat tries to remember what she was going to write>

Heard on James Dobson's show this morning that stocks in Abercrombie and Fitch have dropped 15% in the past four weeks.  That equates to around over 500 million US dollars that they have lost.  If investors can prove that it is the advertising and subsequent boycott doing it, A&F can be legally responsible.  Hmmm, food for thought.

<oh yea>
I was thinking of involvement in the church this morning.  How many times to we wait for someone to ask us to do something and then say, "I'll pray about it."  How much easier it would be if we would pray to God to show us where He wanted us to work, then do it.  There is a reason 10% of the people in any given church do 90% of the work.  Which percentage are you?  and why?

Just thinking on the keyboard there.  It won't cost you anything. :-)

oh yea
oh yea
oh yea
10 years ago, today, a most important event occurred.  You won't find it in the annals of major history, but it was definitely life changing!!!

Anyone wanna guess?? ;)

I am indeed glad Karma and Nards are together.  Otherwise, Nards would have no Karma of his own at all.

Yes, Marilyn...  It's very slow tonight!  I don't think we'll have 111 posts in this NEM.

So, let's sing!

White Christmas  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/white-christmas.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: Irving Berlin 1942

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

Hello to everyone

It was a bright day of sunshine, but cold with lots of wind,  brrr. here at my place.   :'( :'(

Pat: Your scripture this morning John 15:5-8 was very refreshing and brought back memories.

How many here have ever done the "Master Life" studies written by Avery T. Willis Jr.?  The verse #5 was the first one in the course we memorized.

Etta Sue: The air head comments were very funny.  ;D ;D
I wonder if that explained the reason for so many posts yesterday, what would explain the small number of posts today.  Ah!! it must be lock jaw. ;D ;D

AL: Your comment about the Karma for Nards rates up there with one of the best.  ;D ;D

Wishing you all a very nice evening.

Who Started This Christmas Stuff?

A woman was out Christmas shopping with her two children.
After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and
everything else imaginable; and after hours of hearing both
her children asking for everything they saw on those many
shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two
kids.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday
season time of the year: overwhelming pressure. Pressure to
go to every party, every housewarming, to taste all the
holiday food and treats, to get that perfect gift for every
single person on our shopping list, to make sure we don't
forget anyone on our card list. And the pressure of making
sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card...

Finally the elevator doors opened, and there was already
a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and
dragged her two kids and all the bags of stuff in with her.
When the doors closed, she couldn't take it anymore and
stated, "Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should
be found, strung up and shot."

>From the back of the car, everyone heard a quiet calm voice
respond, "Don't worry we already crucified Him." For the
rest of the trip down the elevator it was so quiet you could
have heard a pin drop.

Don't forget this year to keep the One who started this
whole Christmas thing in your every thoughts, deeds,
purchases and words. If we all did it, just think of how
different this whole world would be.

Janet:  Who started this Christmas stuff is so true and so many focus on gifts etc. rather that the True Christ.

Pat:   Yes I am dreaming of a White Christmas. A light covering of those great big snow flakes falling from the  sky is so humbling to the real meaning of the day.

Hi Lee.....great to read your post about the babe Jesus being the Saviour of the World.  It is true, the secular world does not have a clue of who He is.

When I am in a store and hear Christmas music about "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" or "O Little Town of Bethlehem"  etc.  I say in my heart "Yes Lord, I'm so happy to hear about Christ in this drug store or book store"  It makes my heart so glad that I sometimes just sing along with the music.

I have had computer problems Lee, but hopefully things will be okay now.

God Bless

Ruthie ;)

Let's sing about Jesus, Rose of Sharon...

Rose of Sharon (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/roseofsharon.mid)
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by Alfred B. Smith and John Peterson

"I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys."
Solomon 2:1

There's a Beautiful Rose ever blooming,
In the Garden of God's Love for me;
It has filled all the world with it's fragrance,
It will last for eternity.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Precious Savior, I'll always adore Thee,
For with Thee no one else can compare;
By Thy Love so divine, I'm enraptured,
Thou are fairer than all of the fair.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Are you lost in your sins ~ tired of living?
Is your heart filled with bitterness, too?
Come to Jesus, the sweet Rose of Sharon,
He has the power to make you anew.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Well, it was kind of a quiet day in New Every Morning today compared to the 111 posts of yesterday!

But never mind, we'll have another good day tomorrow, I'm sure!

I am away for the night now as I have a very early appointment to have my hair done!  LOL  As my grands say, "Grandma is going to be bootiful!"

See you tomorrow!

Tomorrow's topic... (http://christianphotographers.com/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=1942)
