Morning Devotional...As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.Song of Solomon 2:2
The bridegroom perceived his bride in this special way. He compares her to a lily among thorns.
The church and each believer is, by virtue of salvation, pleasant and attractive to the Lord.
The world is a place of thorns, a sign of the curse in Genesis 3. But we, dear believers, are like lilies to the Lord. He thinks you are special, and He's right, because His grace has made you just that to Him!
The Lord wants your company.
Have you made time for Him today? Will you?
--Carl KnottHow Thou canst think so well of us
yet be the God Thou art,
Is darkness to my intellect,
but sunshine to my heart.
--F. W. Faber
Ria.............
As Christians we believe our Lord. In so believing, we then follow after him and His commandments, and to "obey" Him is one of them. Our Lord says (Regarding baptism). "Repent and be baptized" We must be saved (Born Again) first, and only then baptized. Ria, we cannot repent as babies. I accepted my Lord at age fifty, and was baptized by immersion shortly after. We are baptized out of "obedience" to our Lord.
I reason some Baptist churches require baptism before membership, is to ensure their membership that new members are serious about their faith, and are openly willing to follow after the commandments of Christ.
Pat...........
Yesterday's devotional said much to me.
"
Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory" (John 17:24)
By His grace, and His grace alone, we were first chosen that we would behold His glory. As we approach Christmas, I can't help but reflect on our being gifts from God the Father to His Son. My physical death will be like Jesus opening this humble gift, and my death will be the opening of my eyes to His wonderous glory.

PatGood morning sister. A meaningful devotional for me today. The Lord calls me "His daughter"...last night as I was weeping He told me He is my husband and He comforted me with these words:-
"Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed; neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame; for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of Hosts is His Name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; the God of the whole earth shall He be called.
For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed
but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of peace be removed.
O thou afflicted and tempest tossed and not comforted, behold I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires."
Isaiah 54:4-11 abr.
I pray that these words will give comfort to others today as Christmas approaches and memories flood in, also for those who feel unable to cope and no longer have a spouse to share their troubles with. Please cast your burdens upon the Lord. He will sustain you. He will send a Cyrenean to help carry your cross.
Prayerfully,
Jenny.
I carry heavy burdens today, but last evening a friend met me for dinner and we shared. I could sense her love and her strength helping me as we held hands across the dinner table. Thank God for friends.
And most of all, I thank God for this christian community where I feel safe and loved.
Jenny, I'm so thankful you shared that scripture. It seemed targeted specifically to me, although it was written centuries and centuries ago.

hey ya'll
just popping in to say hi before i go to school. everything here is doing well. it's supposed to be 62 degrees here today :o unseasonaly warm! well i'm off now
Sarah
Just rushing through. It was sooooo cold when I took out my trash this morning. I sure wish it would warm up!!! ::) It is the wind that makes it soooo cold. Wasn't bad taking the trash but coming back to the house, whew!!!! Then it takes a long time for my glasses to get back to normal.
Today I am going to Jerry's and take him for his Christmas shopping. Then he is coming here to help me 'save' things on my computer. I like saving on floppies .... that is a no-brainer...but I have to re-train myself to save on CD's. Some of my folders are too big for one floppy so I must try the CD-rewriter.
I got this little animation in an email. I can relate to this for the past 61 years!!!!(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fettasue.homestead.com%2Ffiles%2FAnimations%2FSnowman.gif&hash=fbb6142c55bd68590b45af24828c1dcc6f165c43)

Hi everyone. Just back from morning coffee at the cafe and then a trip to the store. It is very cold here this morning but I think the rain we had overnight is probably over. We have a brisk wind. When I got in the house I looked like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer but have now warmed up and plan to stay close the rest of the day. However, this evening is choir practice and will go to that as we won't have practice the next two Wednesday evenings.
Pat, I started working those puzzles you have created and have never seen such crazy pieces. One of them that was triangles of Janet's beautiful painting took me almost an hour to complete, but I kept at it until I got it. I work them on my laptop, which has a small screen, so find I can only handle about 75 pieces. In fact, on one of the puzzles I worked last night I got a star piece caught behind the puzzle and couldn't get it out. ;D Anyway, they are a lot of fun and relaxing to work while watching television during the evenings.
Ria, sorry to hear that your eyes are bothering you and certainly hope that will be a temporary condition.
Etta Sue, and all of you posting graphics, I really enjoy seeing them.
Sarah, just go ahead and send that warm weather on down here to the South. Thank you!
Good Morning thank you Pat and Jenny for the words you have posted today.
I tried last night to install PSP8 on my computer and for some reason it wouldn't read the disk. Then I tried to just run it and still no success. Got tired of trying to figure it out and went to bed, I will try again later today. Or I will call Dell support.
This morning I am going to a program Savannah is having at school, will take pictures. Gilbert said be sure and take your camera, I told him it is in my purse and goes everywhere I go.
Ttyl Have to get ready.
Etta Sue, I love that snowman, and can really relate! All your other graphics are lovely, too!
Sonja, I hope I didn't offend you with my question about vitamins. I figured you did take them and so do your kids. You and Mike are such good parents!
Jenny and Ria, hugs to you both, and I hope you will both be feeling much better soon.
Larry, you do stay busy, don't you? Way to go! I worked that puzzle some time ago, and it is a hard one, because of so much green! ;D
Hi Marilyn! Hope you get PSP8 going soon!
I have lots to do, as usual, so better get with it!
Hello everyone.
I baked a four layer cake on the 14th I had two white layers and two white with strawberry sprinkles. It used up four tubs of frosting, it was very good.
Sometimes when someone asks me how old I am
I say 12
when I'm really 13
Etta Sue I liked your icon you got from an email!!!
It cracked me up.
Ria (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fchristianphotographers.com%2Fforum%2Fsmi%2FLOL2.gif&hash=2aaa9532dab730f51e69969f8e5973d6b40e1e2b) I like this icon!

Mullet Hi there, it's lovely to meet someone who caught a mullet........Is that a fish?
Gosh that cake sounds absolutely scrumptious. I never baked one like that...Keep our Etta Sue away from it!
Please come and talk to us again. .
Sonja I am glad that you do not need to understand the meaning behind the words I posted sister. If you did need to then the Lord would open His good treasury and you would understand. God Bless dear, continue happy ...keep smiling.
Ruth Ann I am so glad you have a special friend to share with. "A trouble shared is a trouble halved". Is our dear Leslie with you as you read this. I love you Les. Jesus loves you. Enjoy His birthday and I hope you will soon be feeling much better.
My dear Jane has just brought me Holy Communion for Christmas as it's too cold for me to be in church. We prayed together and I read Luke 2:1-20. ...I ache to share inside the church again on Christmas Eve but I have to accept the way I am at this time. I shall watch the Midnight Mass on television and think of you all. Most probably I will pop into C.P. afterwards as it will only be about 7 p.m. in Canada and I will be able to say "Happy Christmas"....across the sea and over the web.
God Bless you all dear ones.
Jenny .
Hello all!!!! I hope your day is going well!
Good to "see" you mullet! Why do you and your crew come on to NC and we'll have one big bake fest!!

Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/thouddst.mid)
(Click to hear music)
"Christ Jesus...being in very nature God...
made Himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant."
Philippians 2:6-7
Words: Emily E. Elliott, 1864
Music: "Margaret," Timothy R. Matthews, 1876
Thou didst leave Thy throne and Thy kingly crown,
When Thou camest to earth for me;
But in Bethlehem's home was there found no room
For Thy holy nativity.
Refrain
O come to my heart, Lord Jesus,
There is room in my heart for Thee.
Heaven's arches rang when the angels sang,
Proclaiming Thy royal degree;
But of lowly birth didst Thou come to earth,
And in great humility.
Refrain
The foxes found rest, and the birds their nest
In the shade of the forest tree;
But Thy couch was the sod, O Thou Son of God,
In the deserts of Galilee.
Refrain
Thou camest, O Lord, with the living Word,
That should set Thy people free;
But with mocking scorn and with crown of thorn,
They bore Thee to Calvary.
Refrain
When the heavens shall ring, and the angels sing,
At Thy coming to victory,
Let Thy voice call me home, saying "Yet there is room,
There is room at My side for thee."
My heart shall rejoice, Lord Jesus,
When Thou comest and callest for me.

I hope you all have a great evening together.
I'm going to the Avon Christmas Dinner and will be leaving soon so won't be home till much later.
I hope I have lots to read by the time I get home!
SoniYou have a lovely son...Zach...
Lets see lots more of him. He's a "ray" of sunshine.
Jenny.
Zachery really is a ray of sunshine, isn't he? So glad to have you posting, Zachery! (((hugs)))
Thanks to you all on the comments on my Christmas graphics. They were fun/hard/easy/tough/challenging to do....all of the above.
Sonja ~ Yes, these are the results of my PSP lessons. Gold should be in your color manager/patterns. If you don't have it, I can send 'gold/pattern' to you by email.
Zachary ~ You eat all that cake and we will call you Snowman instead of Mullet!!!!! Good to see your colorful posts!!!!! It is fun, isn't it????
I have been trying to save images to CD's. I get so frustrated doing that. Nero tells me the tracks are there but when I want to view what I have put on there, it is only the last track that I can see. Then I went to 'help' and finally figured it out. But on one of them, it wiped out the previous track and made it a data track and I can see them at all. These were .pps files and .gif files. So I am quitting. My neck and back is in knots now. Going to watch some TV.
BTW, Jerry and I got a phone call awhile ago. Jerry Lee, Nermin and baby Daniel are in Ohio from Latina, Italy. They may come over here tomorrow. Can't wait to hold that little one!!!!
Well my PSP8 program is going back for a refund or rather replacement the disk is faulty I am downloading the trial version from Jasc right now, it will be taking almost 4 hours to download.
TTYL
Pretty quiet in here today! What up folks, the cat got your tongue? hehehehe... ;D
I am taking a little break before dance. Thought I would pop in here and say hello.
Zachery and I were doing the paper route and he found a syrenge with a needle and some stuff in it. Not sure what it was, but he didn't touch and he and i called the police. They came and got it. I wonder if we will be reading about it in the paper in the next few days? hmmm...
Hey Mullet Man! Glad you are liking it here on CP! You are doing a great job with your posting even if you do have to modify it 10 times. hehehhe...Luv you!
I am going to browse around see if there is anything new.
Pssst! Mullet man! Don't tell Mom, but I often have to modify my posts, too. Sometimes my keyboard can't spell or remember the right names. :-[
You are doing GREAT!! It is so nice to have kids here with us!
Forest came to vist me a little while ago. They are so cute at that age. He wanted pickles, so he got pickles. Gilbert came over and good thng too, he had to open the pickle jar.
Going to Bible Study in a bit.
The other day the TSA (Transportation Safety Agents) people at the airport found a pipe bomb in a mans luggage and confiscated the bomb and let the man get on the plane. He went to Miami Florida and the FBI questioned him and they let him go to, siad it was this county's jurisdiction. Weird hammpening in our little town.
I guess y-all know that Me and Gilbert live just down the road from the Airport. Scary times.
Lee end-times for sure. It is all coming together. Maranantha Lord Jesus.
I'm kind of bad at remembering names too. ;D ;)
[/color]
You all are sunshines to me!!
Hey Mullet you changed your name Huh? Now you are Travis. Sure is nice to see you posting so much Keep it up. It's great having some young people on here.
LOL..... Mullet, you are a riot! Thanks for the good laugh!!!
Zachery------->(https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fchristianphotographers.com%2Fforum%2Fsmi%2FLOL2.gif&hash=2aaa9532dab730f51e69969f8e5973d6b40e1e2b)
Pssstt...Janet! I never have to modify. ::) ;D ;) ;D hehehhe...
Soni tries to erase the modify stuff at the bottom of her post so Janet won't see.
There we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
It is confusing
??? ??? ???
HI Marilyn! Sorry to hear about your psp program. That is great you had a good visit with your grandson. mmm...pickles are always good. :P <---licking lips.
Heh, Mr. Travis-Mullet Man. :) You haven't met me yet. My name is Nita. I live in Oregon, over on the west coast. In fact, I live right near the ocean.
It's really cool seeing someone your age post here. I have a question.
When you said you sometimes say that you are 12, when you're really 13...is that because you forgot that you turned 13? lol It's easy to forget when you've only been 13 just a little while. I have a grandaughter who will be 14 in January.
Well, I won't be coming back for awhile. This computer is really doing it to me. I think I need a new graphics card. I can only be online for a few minutes and then I get lines across my monitor, and it freezed up. If I can catch it right away, I can shut down the "legal" way, but that isn't usually the way it happens. :-\ After payday (on the 3rd) I will see about getting a new graphics card. Till then...........don't forget me. ok
I love you all. Have a very blessed Christmas. Nita
finally
Hey pat I was wandering how do you put music on alink so others can listin, thank you. ???

Not much time tonight and I guess I missed last night totally. :(
I sent off the check for my mother's hearing aids this morning and got a call this afternoon that she had been in earlier to have the impressions made. They're trying very hard to make sure she has them by Christmas. Now if she'll just not lose these. :-\ Gene suggested getting them insured. I don't know if that's possible, but tomorrow I'll see what I can find out.
We had some freezing rain this morning and the roads were treacherous for a while. Then it warmed up some for a while, still raining, and cooled back down later in the afternoon. Sand spread on the roads here in the trailer park was almost immediately iced over. Now it has started to snow and the icy spots aren't visible - which can make for some pretty hairy driving and walking. But praise God Gene and I are all snug and warm and don't need to budge until I go to work in the morning. Tomorrow night we have a joint meeting of the Elders and Deacons at church so we'll both be going to that.
Mutiny!
Dear friends:
You may be familiar with the famous book, Mutiny on the Bounty, and its
infamous captain, William Bligh.
In 1787 at age 33, Captain Bligh was given command of "The Bounty," a
three-year-old merchant ship. The Bounty set sail on December 23, 1787.
In April, 1789 the famous mutiny took place, led by Bligh's one-time
friend, Fletcher Christian. The following is an extract taken from
Bligh's logbook entry for April 28 (original spelling): "Just before
Sunrise Mr Christian and the Master at Arms... came into my cabin while
I was fast asleep, and seizing me tyed my hands with a Cord & threatened
instant death if I made the least noise..."
Bligh and 18 other crew members loyal to him were set adrift on April 28
in an open boat. In most cases, such an act would have led to certain
death for the men aboard, but Bligh was a magnificent seaman and landed
in Timor, Java, without any loss of life on June 14. The journey of
3,618 nautical miles took them 47 days.
Captain Bligh miraculously lived after the mutiny and returned to
England to report the crime. Many of the guilty sailors were found and
hanged. Several, however, could not be found.
Twenty years passed and the whole incident was forgotten until a sailing
ship discovered an uncharted island. When the crew landed, they could
hardly believe what they had found -- an utter utopia. There was no
disease, no crime, no drunkenness, nothing but grace and harmony.
When the crew learned the reason for the change in the islanders, they
were amazed.
Eight of the Bounty's sailors had fled to this island after the mutiny.
They had ravaged the people and all but one of the sailors, Alexander
Smith, had died.
In desperation, Smith had rummaged through all of the other men's
belongings, looking for more whiskey. In his search, he found a Bible.
He read it, believed it, and became a Christian. He introduced the
entire population of the island to Christ and they, with him, believed
and obeyed the Word of God, transforming their society.
I am reminded of the words of America's second President, John Adams,
when he said, "Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the
Bible for their only law book, and every member should regulate his
conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged
in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice,
kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and
reverence toward Almighty God.... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would
this region be."
God's Word is powerful. When believed and obeyed, it is transforming.
Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission
each year until our Lord returns,
Bill Bright

JANET: Thank you so much so for "the rest of the story" by Bill Bright. You must be a relative of Paul Harvey, who by the way is a Chrisitian.
Isn't it wonderful what God can do with just one willing person? Where would you be today if someone had not told you about Christ?
God uses regular people to super-regular things.
What an interesting day in New Every Morning!
It was nice to read Travis-Mullet-Zachery's posts! Zach, to play music, you upload a midi file you your webspace and post a link just like you do photos except that you don't use IMG but you use URL
Thanks Janet for that Bill Bright article. Great reading!
