Morning Devotional...

O Lord, open Thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth Thy praise.
Psalm 51:15

A man told me he had been saved for fifteen years. "But," he said, "I only began to grow spiritually a year ago."

I asked him what had been the secret of his new growth.

"I began to open my mouth in public prayer and witness."

Open your mouth, my brother, my sister.

Pray.

Witness.

Speak out for God.

You, too, can begin to grow.
--Donald Norbie

O Saviour, if Thou wilt be my Guide,
Tho' dark and rugged the way,
My voice shall echo the message sweet,
I'll say what You want me to say.

I made it here to be the first......usually I'm last.  ;D

I've been reading all of yesterdays posts, and my computer hasn't gone crazy on me yet. YAAAAH!  I downloaded an updated driver for my card, and am hoping that's all I need.  We shall see.

Mr. Mullet/Pullet/Newbie-almost JR Man.....it's so fun to come back here and see your posts.  You must be pretty smart, huh?  Wanting to take a test for Sarah.   :)

I'm tired tonight, but I'll try to be back in the morning and see what you're all up to.

Karmet, I liked what you wrote about wondering what Mary was feeling this time long ago.  You said that God can use ordinary things......and I was thinking about that and came to the conclusion(my own opininion)that God not only can use ordinary things and people but he CHOOSES to do just that.  I think God delights in taking what others overlook and/or discard and working His wonders in that very thing.  Just think of what He could have given His Son.  Yet He came so lowly, so humbly, in the form of a helpless human baby.  Over and over we can read where God chose and used the ones that most would have rejected.  That encourages me to no end.   I understand ordinary very well. haha

Sonja......I agree, honey.  GOD IS SO VERY GOOD!

OK.....I need to go see how Brother Al's move went, and then to bed.

I love you all.  Nita

Pat..........

Two things (Among many others) I don't have, are the capabilities of listening to your music and working the puzzles.  Old PC and no space to improve.  A month ago I was thinking about getting a new PC, but don't believe I need to now.

Well, Lee, I'd certainly get a new computer.  They've come down in price so much and they bring so much enjoyment.  So, force yourself, go and spend some of your police retirement funds and upgrade.   :)  You've got to do some puzzles!  And you've got to hear the music on here!

Hi Neil.  Sorry about what you're going through in that nice town of Bolton!  I love that place.  My husband and I did a bit of walking around there in years gone by.

Hi Carol!

Ria, glad you enjoyed the devotional and the music.  I sure hope that those eyes clear up soon.

Hope to see more of your posts, Nita.  I love seeing your name pop up but you knew that already.

Now, I wonder how Al Moak is making out?  Marilyn, any chance of you letting us know?  Give him our love!

Great thoughts this morning, Pat!  Just open our mouths, and let the Word come out.

:-[ :-[ :-[My face is red----seems to happen a LOT lately!  I never even THOUGHT about having a strong grip! :-[ :-\ ::)  But I surely don't have as much strength in my hands as I used to have.  Now I have trouble opening jars.

Zachery, I have trouble remembering ONE name per person, and now you already have, let's see........Mullet, Pullet, Travis, Zachery..........enough already! ;) ;D  Love you, kid!  You are so much fun!

We are helping give a little party tonight.  It is at our friends' house, but we are bringing the main food.  It should be a lot of fun to see and visit with some friends we don't see often enough.

Beth and John said there is three FEET of snow on the ground in Utica and it was still snowing! :o

I shall return!

I just want all of you to know that when I post graphics, animations or photos, that they are up for grabs if anyone would like to have them for their own.  That would give me so much pleasure to know that anyone would want some of my 'things'.

Sarah ~ Congratualtions on your test!!!!  You go, girl!!!!

Zarchary ~ You are like a breath of fresh air.  I love you!

Jerry and I got a phone call from Jerry Lee yesterday saying they would be here TODAY!  It is snowing again...not much accumulation but snowing.  Sure hope they do get here safe and sound.

Ivalou had dinner for me and 4 other ladies last evening.  It was so good and we all enjoyed talking after eating.  Ivalou forgot to put out some nuts and candy so I guess she will have to eat them herself.

Good Morning: I think maybe Al's phone isn't connected yet. The one in Arcata had a different prefix than the numbers here in McKville. Going from 822 to 839. If I knew how to get to his new place I would go check on them. I just know the general location.

I do hope y-all will go to prayers and pray for Gilbert and Sarah. Sarah's idenity was stolen. Sarah really doesn't need any stress with her having MS and medi/cal saying that they need to pay a $1500. copay monthly for her meds. She told them they had to figure out something else because there was no way they can pay a $1500. co pay monthly. Her meds are about $18,000. a year for her MS.

I think I told you that I am returing PSP 8 will order a new one later. I downloaded the free one for 30 days.

McAfee notified me that there is a new virus that steals your credit information by using a fake Paypal account it is called "W32mmims" someithing else I can't remember. I had to install updates.

Away in a Manager  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/awayin.mid)
(Click to hear music)

"She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:7

Words: Verses 1 & 2, anonymous, in Little Children's Book for Schools and Families, by J. C. File (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Evangelical Lutheran Church in North America, 1885). Some sources show the author as Martin Luther; this attribution (probably incorrect) is based on the title "Luther's Cradle Hymn," given to these words by the composer, James Murray, in his Dainty Songs for Little Lads and Lasses (Cincinnati, Ohio: The John Church Co., 1887). Verse 3 is by John Thomas McFarland (1851-1913)

Music: "Mueller," James R. Murray, 1887

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle til morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to live with Thee there.

MMMMM....my guy is a GOOD cook!

I need to get off here and go have my BP checked.  That gives me a chance to talk to my daughter Denise, who is a nurse at my Dr's office.  I need to ask her about their Christmas plans.  My youngest is being mean, not coming for CHRISTmas, which really makes me  :'(

Anyway.......TTYL!  CURTIS IS COMING HOME TODAY!!!  HOORAY!!!! ;D

Hi again.  I went all over CP last night and NO BLACK LINES on my monitor!!  I think the driver upgrade did it.  I'm soooo happy.  I was checking the price of new graphics cards and they're spendy.

Janet, I LOVE Chili.  I'll be there too.  I'll leave right now, as I've decided to jog there. ;D  Just in case I don't make it when you start eating.....save some for me. ok?  I haven't had home made chili in a long time.  I think I'll make some after Christmas.

Etta Sue,  I'm sure glad you said that about your graphics...because I've been "stealing" them from you. haha     I knew you wouldn't care...but I'm glad to have the official word now.  You are doing so well on them.

When my daughter moved, it took almost two weeks before she got her computer set up again.  I don't think brother Al will wait that long. :)   It DOES take time to move and unpack, so we know that the Lord is right there with him and Marbeth as they do all this.

Lee....your country is sure pretty.  I wouldn't want to live in all that snow, but it's so nice to see from here by the ocean.  :)  Your house looks so comfortable.  I know you feel blessed.

On my list of TO DO today......mostly clean house, wrap more presents, then later today take my grandaughter, Angel, shopping for her mom's present.  Before Paul and Kim got married (Angel was 6 I think...she's 13 now) I would take her shopping and, of course, pay for all she bought as Kim didn't have much.  Even though she could ask her step-dad for the money now, she won't.....and just assumes that this is something that Gram and her do on their own and why wouldn't gram pay??  Never a thought.  So........this is one of our Christmas traditions. haha  My income has gone to very little, so the presents are smaller, but it's still fun.  We're really close, Angel and I.

Today's reading in Utmost really spoke to me.  I wonder how many lessons I've missed in life by trying to get out of a place God had placed me, for that specific lesson.  Even while still loving and trusting God......have I looked for doorways to get out, all the while speaking that it is GOD who delivers us out of all our troubles? What if God wanted me here for a valuable life lesson, and instead of yielding and trusting that I am always in His hand and He brought me to this very spot,  I'm looking for escape?   If we truly belive this......then my only need is to focus on Him, and allow the "lesson" to shape me.....more and more into the image of my Jesus.
I don't have time to waste my days trying to find a way out of this......whatever the this might be.

"Father, keep my heart in remembrance of this:  Nothing comes to me that You have not allowed.  I will rest in You.  Make me soft and pliable in Your hands. That's all I need or want.  If deliverance comes,  I am Yours.  If I am not given escape at this time, I am Yours.  If You choose to wound me with Your Touch, I am Yours.  Holy Father, hold me close so that You might do the work of Your will in my life.  I pray this not for myself alone, but for Your precious Body on the earth.  Make us Like You, Oh Lord.  We want to be beautiful for You.  How we need You.  Come, Lord Jesus..."

You are all so wonderful.  We ARE the Body of Christ on earth....young, old, and older.  ;D   I'm so glad we can all come here and touch.

Oh, Woooohhooooo, Nita, that's wonderful!  Did you also post all over CP last night?

Yes, let's all meet in Kansas for supper!  Nita, you can pick up Lee on the way through and then Sonja.  I'll get Etta Sue and Jerry. (gotta leave space for Geordie) (Hope Geordie and Ali don't fight!)

Darryl's cookin'

Wouldn't that just be so neat if we could do that?

I also read Oswald Chambers "Utmost for His Highest" this morning, Nita.  I really found it compelling.

Hope Al and Marbeth aren't working too hard.

Sonja, I love Away in a Manger.  Thanks for posting that.  It's one of my favorites.
I still have it playing here.

Nita..........

Yes, you do understand.  I am, and have been, very blessed.  My richness is in the Lord, and what ever we have can only be attributed to His grace.  Nita, you have stirred much in this old man's heart, and whether we have much, or less in material [things], He has surely supplied all our needs, and in some cases, perhaps our minimal wants as well.  As I reflect back on life I recognize the only thing important to man is his relationship with Jesus Christ.  Something for us to ponder is His admonishment.....(Matthew 18:3) Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.  We might then ask: "What is required of me to be as "little children?"  A very good question, and I reason that we Christians must love our Lord as a child would love and trust it's parents.  This may be equaited to their simple exceptance in total innocence.  Children do not judge, they accept completely.  Ha! but there comes a time when children lose this innocence, so we must, according to our Lord, go back beyond their change to their (as I said) innocence.

It is so beautiful here today, nearly 60 and rising!  And we are supposed to have a lovely weekend, too.  Really a change from last week end! :o

I'd better go get some more stuff done!

Well, I hope you are all having a good day.  I have enjoyed reading the posts today.

We went down to Dickson, near here, and enjoyed a concert at the high school and then a Christmas brunch.  I taught for six years in this school and they still invite us each year to their Christmas meal.  We came through some snow on the way back but not enough to cover the ground.

One of the questions God asked Job was, "Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? " Job 38:22  The winter snow helps to enrich the soil and it also gives us the beautiful landscapes which we can enjoy so much.

I hope you all have a good rest of the day and a good rest this night.

Hi everyone.  I am late getting to the computer today.  This is the day I go early to the Senior Center for our men's Friday coffee and then had to leave there early as had a doctor's appointment about an hour away from where I live with my cardiologist.  We then stopped for lunch at the Golden Corral and then came home and took a nap.  My cardiologist wants me to start walking again so stopped at the YMCA and reinstated my membership so I will have a warm and flat place to walk as he told me to avoid the cold outside.  They have a gym and 15 laps is equal to a mile.

For those of you who have good speakers on your computer I would encourage you to go to the Moody Broadcasting website http://www.mbn.org/ as from today through December 25th they are playing 24 hours a day Christmas music.  I think I have mentioned it before but last Christmas my son gave me a set of Altec Lansing speakers with a subwoofer for my computer.  I have truly enjoyed them everyday as I listen to music or various websites such as Moody while working on my computer.  They make such a difference over the little speakers that generally are a part of the computer package.

Lee, I agree with Pat in encouraging you to rethink not getting a new computer if it is within your budget as you are truly missing so much that is available from the computer.   ::)

Papa John, we didn't get any of that snow but it has been cold down here and will be in the 20s tonight but tomorrow is suppose to be sunny, as was today.

Marilyn, what a burden for your daughter-in-law and son with such a co-pay.

Janet, I also grew up on a dairy farm where we usually milked about 20 cows.   We did have milking machines so never really had to do the milking by hand other than to prepare the utters for the machines.  My folks sold the butter fat from the milk and we had to carry the milk in pails from the barn up a little hill to the house.  It was a 365 day a year, twice-a-day job.  There was no way I wanted to be farmer and as soon as I finished college I got away from the farm and my dad then sold the dairy cattle and went to beef cattle.  However, you certainly learn a good work ethic on a farm as there is always something that needs doing.

I have been so talkative I think I had better sign off for today.  It was good to see everyone posting yesterday and today.

Some time ago, I received this from Janet Damon...

The Old Rugged Cross (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/theoldruggedcross.mid)
(Click title to hear music)

John 3:16
[/size] [/b]

In the city of Chicago, one cold, dark night, a blizzard was setting in. A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner, the people were in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell many papers.

He walked up to a policeman and said, "Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you? You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight. Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."

The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16, and they will let you in." So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a lady answered.

He looked up and said, "John 3:16." The lady said, "Come on in, Son." She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went off. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself: John 3:16....I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm.

Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry?" He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food." The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself: John 3:16... Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure makes a hungry boy full.

She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16... I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out.

The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room, tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that cold night, he thought to himself: John 3:16... I don't understand it but it sure makes a tired boy rested.

The next morning the lady came back up and took him down again to that same big table full of food. After he ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big old Bible. She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face.

"Do you understand John 3:16?" she asked gently. He replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it." She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain to him about Jesus. Right there, in front of that big old fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought: John 3:16. .. ... I don't understand it, but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe.

You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end. I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.
Author Unknown

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/theoldruggedcross.mid)
(Click to hear music)

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I'll share.

Sonja:  Thank you for sending your wishes for a good day!  It has been a terrific day!  I am on a lot of medication but able to finally get something accomplished around the house and very little coughing now.

I bookmarked the Moody songs and am going to listen to them - Christmas music is so seldom anymore.  Wonder of wonders, I did hear some on Saturday from a Fort Collins radio station which makes it wonder of wonders!  Carol

I' ve just spent an hour getting caught up on NEM.  And I haven't even looked anyplace else yet.   :o  That's what happens when you skip a day around here.

I didn't even turn on the computer yesterday.  I worked in the morning and then Gene and I went to visit two of our friends in the hospital (husband and wife, both in their 90's and both in the hospital) .  And last night was a joint Elders/Deacons meeting from which we got home at 10:15.

Normal cold but not much more snow so far.  They tell us we've already had about 1/2 our average snowfall for the winter - and it's not even really winter yet!

Hello everyone!

Glad to hear your tests went well Sarah!  You rock!

Hey, Mullet, how do you even know about moon walking.  That's like way before your time.  :P

We have snow.  And ice under the snow.  Tonight, we went ot do some Christmas shopping, adn when we came out, it was really coming down.  I started teaching Travis how to catch the flakes on his tongue and he would laugh hysterically.

Then, we came home, ate supper, and he played with his daddy for over an hour.  Needless to say, he is sound asleep right now.  Hope he stays that way, I need him to "pose" for me in a few minutes.

Welcome to CP, Darryl.  We are a pretty cool bunch of people, if i do say so myself.

Im gone to take pictures.  All ya'll be good, okay.
