Morning Devotional...

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise.
Matthew 1:18

In the verses prior to this tremendous statement we have the word "begat" mentioned thirty-nine times.

With our Lord it was so different. He was not begotten of men. He was born of a virgin.

There had never been a birth like it and there will never be a birth like it again.

It was truly unique and a divine necessity for it initiated a flawless life that blazed forth His moral glory. The world in which we live will attack the virgin birth of our Saviour.

May we hold it dear as we consider at this time of the year His miraculous entrance into this scene.
--John M. Clegg

There's a Song in the Air  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/songair.mid)
(Click to hear music)

She gave birth to her firstborn, a son.
She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:7

Words: Josiah G. Holland, The Marble Prophecy and Other Poems, 1872

Music: Christmas Song, Karl P. Harrington, 1904

There's a song in the air! There's a star in the sky!
There's a mother's deep prayer and a baby's low cry!
And the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing,
For the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!

There's a tumult of joy o'er the wonderful birth,
For the virgin's sweet Boy is the Lord of the earth.
Ay! the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing,
For the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!

In the light of that star lie the ages impearled;
And that song from afar has swept over the world.
Every hearth is aflame, and the beautiful sing
In the homes of the nations that Jesus is King!

We rejoice in the light, and we echo the song
That comes down through the night from the heavenly throng.
Ay! we shout to the lovely evangel they bring,
And we greet in His cradle our Savior and King!

I'm repeating a post that I posted last night:

Well, Satan is alive and well.

I was told the other day that if Satan is really bothering us, then we must be doing something right for the Lord!

So, we're starting to get these undesirable members registering.

PLEASE don't welcome them and if they get a chance to post before Larry Hanna or I can do something about them, please, please, please click on the button at the bottom of their post that says "Report to Moderator".  That will send an email to Larry and I immediately.

Also, will you PLEASE copy their complete post with their user name and put it into a PM and send it to Larry and I?

That way we can ban them with accuracy.

Thanks everyone and please pray for Christian Photographers and the Admin Team!  I don't know how I'd get along without them.

Thanks for the warning Pat, I will look out for these people. Well here in the U.K. they predicted snow for Christmas, but no sign of it yet, but we have had plenty of rain.Today Sheila and I celebrate 44 yrs of marriage, and it does not seem so long.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all the people on the site a very Merry Christrmas, and thanks for the pleasure this site gives me.

Karma it was a program on PBS about "What Happens after we Die" and "Where are we going". It gave the different views. I do know that Allah is not the same God but it is Their God. Just as Buddah is a god to the Buddhists. I didn't mean or say that Our God is the same as theirs. I appreciate all that you said to me in your post and I do hope you realize that perhaps using the word defend on my part may have been the wrong word to use.  I think respect would have been a better choice.

I know that they do consider us to be infidels if we are not Muslim. However that does not stop me from praying for them daily to come to know Jesus as their Savour and Lord. Jesus told us to Love one another as we love ourselves. This is hard to do sometimes but if we truly Love God then we will be obedient to his commandment  to love others also.

Enuf said on that subject.

Today and tomorrow are very busy days for me as I still have to go to work. Hopefully Fay will give me a few extra hours off.

Larry Yes I am having Gilbert, Sarah and the children here for Christmas Eve. When they were next door I could go there on Christmas morning in my pj's and then come home to prepare my dish to take to Sarah's parents house. But since they moved  in June to Blue Lake, tho' it is not but 7 miles away, I thought we would start a new tradition for us that was a tradition in my family as I was growing up.  That is to have Christmas Eve at Grandma's house with traditional vegetable soup and desserts.

Then on Christmas day we will all go to Sarah's parents house for the big traditional turkey with all the fixin's plus whatever dishes the rest of us bring. I am bringing Green Chili Enchiladas

Time for me to get ready for work.

I'm almost ready to leave the house to meet a couple for coffee and then shop a bit for Janice and Phil to take it up to them.  They are snowed in but will be out later when the plow comes.

Hi Marilyn!  Hope you have two wonderful days!

Hope you have a great birthday, Chris!

Talk to you all later when I can.

Good morning all!!

Marilyn -- AMEN!!

STay warm, dry, cool, whatever makes you physically comfortable, and I need to go wrap some more presents.  I had to wait until the last minute because a present is just too much temptation for the youngest member of our house.  He absolutely cannot stand not knowing what is under the paper/in the bag. :-)

A blessed Christmas Eve to all of you!

Happy Birthday, Chris!!

Happy Anniversary, Colin and Shiela!

I have made four pies this morning, with the help of granddaughter Abby.  She wanted to separate the eggs, but I didn't let her do that!  One drop of yolk in the whites, and the meringue will not work.  I told her maybe next year she can do it.

We are going to daughter Diane's tonight, then tomorrow all my kids except Kerri are to be here.  We will have a late dinner, around 2, visit and play games, then have our gift exchange later in the evening.  We should have plenty of food left from dinner to eat for supper.

It is cold, frosty and white here.  It's been a long time since we have had a white Christmas.  I don't mind, as long as the roads are clear.  We surely don't want accidents to mar or ruin anyone's Christmas.

Karma, thanks, you said it much better than I.  And Marilyn, I hope you know I love you and meant no hurt in any way.  We have to love the people, even when we hate their actions.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!

* CHRISTMAS EVE *

Good Afternoon !!

It's really cold here in OHIO.  We woke up with a telephone call from my BIL ( borther in law ) & telling us that the entire TOWN is w/out power & looks like it will be out for at least 12 - 18 hrs.  :'( which that includes my mother in law & so we were suppose to all meet at there house for dinner & gift exchange @ there place tomorrow but they too are w/out power so ... we will have to wait & see what happens ! Do keep them all in prayer !!

Well, I'm glad to see that our newest members have been taken care of !!  It sure was scary to see those names show up. So, let's put this all behind us & look for the postive as we have some wonderful members here & we do not need that rubash here on this board !!

So, this is not a time for preaching I just wanted to come in & wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS & for everyone to stay safe if there traveling & if not enjoy the time with your families. I'll let everyone off for the menu of the day thread for the next couple of days because I am sure that nobody will be around to post. So, we will start up fresh on Monday - 27th so everyone eat HEALTHY & have fun !!

In closing I want to wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS & to those celebrating birthday's & other special days - anniversaries I want to wish you all the best on your special days !!  And, let the GOOD LORD bless all of you !!

Until next week ...
WARM BEAR HUGS & BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL !!

Coventry Carol  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/coventry-carol.mid)
(Click to hear music)

When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi,
he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem
and its vicinity who were two years old and under.
Matthew 2:16

Words & Music: Renaissance carol.  It is named after the city of Coventry, England, where the 15th Century Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors depicted Herod?s slaughter of the innocents, told in the lyrics.

Lullay, Thou little tiny Child,
Bye-bye, lulloo, lullay.
Lullay, Thou little tiny Child,
Bye-bye, lulloo, lullay.

O sisters, too, how may we do
For to preserve this day?
This poor Youngling for whom we sing,
Bye-bye, lulloo, lullay.

Herod the king in his raging
Charged he hath this day
His men of might, in his own sight,
All children young to slay.

Then woe is me, poor Child for Thee,
And ever morn and day,
For Thy parting nor say nor sing,
By-bye, lulloo, llullay.

Love God.  Love your neighbor.  That's it!  That's it in a nutshell!

What interesting reading today.  We have some very smart members on this forum.  I am not including myself in that fact because I learn a lot when we agree to disagree or at least, fail to read another's mind through their typing.   ::)  But it is wonderful how we still love each other and pray for the very, very best for each other.

The pictures of Beth and John made my heart smile.   I am so happy that they are together at this time of year.  God Bless Beth and John.

Whew!  I am tired.  First, I fed the girls.  Cleaned out their litter box. Ate my breakfast.  Put a Carrot Cake made from scratch in the oven.  Made a Layered Salad.  Washed dishes.  Read my morning devotions.  Made some New Year's Card....yes, that is right...New Year's Cards.  I procrastinated and decided to send New Year's Cards since today is Christmas Eve.  Jerry came and we fixed bacon and eggs for lunch.  Washed dishes.  Icinged (is at a word?) the cake.  Made the Fat-Free Pumpkin Pudding since Jerry is here to help me eat it.  Also made some Chocolate Brownies...the kind you break apart and put in a square pan and bake...even Jerry could make them.  ;)  Washed dishes.  Finally got online and talked on IM with my DIL.  Read 25 emails and now I am posting on NEM!  WHEW!!!

Matthew 1:18-25 NLT

Now this is how Jesus the Messiah was born.  His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph.  But while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit.  Joseph, her fiance, being a just man, decided to break the engagement quietly, so as not to disgrace her publicly.

As he considered this, he fell asleep, and an angel of the Lord appreared to him in a dream.  "Joseph, son of David," the angel said, "do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary.  For the child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit.  And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."  All of this happened to fulfill the Lord's message through his prophet:
"Look!  The virgin will conceieve a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and he will be callled Immanuel
      (meaning God is with us)."

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord commanded.  He brought Mary home to be his wife, but she remained a virgin until her son was born.  And Joseph named him Jesus.

I read that in my morning devotions and cried like a baby.  Thank you, God, for your word.

<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))

A little known fact, 90 years ago.

On Christmas Eve, in the section where the British opposed the Germans, the British gathered holly, and the Germans set up small Christmas trees which they lit up. It was an unofficial “truce”. German soldiers started to sing “Stille Nacht”, and the British joined in the carol in English “Silent Night”.

An English soldier later wrote: (Albert Moren, a Private in the 2nd Queen’s Regiment,)  “It was a beautiful, moonlit night, frost on the ground, white almost everywhere, About 7 or 8 in the evening, there was a lot of commotion in the German trenches, and there were lights. And then they sang ‘Stille Nacht - Silent Night’. I shall never forget it as long as I live. It was one of the highlights of my life.”

The soldiers shook hands with their enemies, exchanged small gifts, and even played football!

"Silent Night"

silent night, holy night
all is calm, all is bright
round yon virgin mother and child
holy infant so tender and mild
sleep in heavenly peace
sleep in heavenly peace

silent night, holy night
shepherds quake at the sight
glories stream from heaven afar
heavenly hosts sing alleluia
Christ the savior is born
Christ the savior is born

silent night, holy night
son of god
love's pure light
radiant beams from thy holy face
with the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus lord at thy birth
Jesus lord at thy birth

Jesus lord at thy birth
Jesus lord at thy birth

sleep in heavenly peace
sleep in heavenly peace

Merry Christmas Everyone

I have had a busy day and thus it has gone by quickly.  Pat has been busy doing preparations for the dinner tomorrow when our son and his wife and their friend join us for our Christmas celebration.  I think everything is ready.

Happy Birthday Chris and Happy Anniversary Colin.

Janet, those are delightful photos of Beth and John.  This will obviously be a very memorable Christmas for them.

Marilyn, it is interesting to learn of different family traditions that people have surrounding the Christmas Celebration.  We always open our packages one person at a time and the packages cannot be opened until the dishes are done.

Interesting postings today.  See you all tomorrow.

Hi Everyone!

Here I am up at Janice's.  It was a full two hour drive in  blustery snow.  It was at times scary and I just prayed the the Lord would take the wheel and steer my car.  He did.  I got here just fine.  Geordie was happy to be here as well and we've had a nice visit together.

Thanks Bob for the history of Silent Night.  It's one of my favourite Christmas carols.

Thanks too, Chris, for all those interesting links.  I hope you had a wonderful birthday!

I'll be back later...

Beside the Manager Here I Stand  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/beside-the-manager-here-i-stand.mid)
(Click to hear music)
By Paul Gerhardt

Beside thy manger here I stand
Dear Jesus, Lord and Savior
A gift of love within my hand
To thank Thee for Thy favor
O take my humble offering
my heart, my soul, yes, everything
Is Thine to keep forever.

With joy I gaze upon Thy face;
Thy glory and Thy splendor
Is greater than my heart can praise
And songs can fitly render.
O how I wish my mind would be
As boundless as the deepest sea,
T'would still be lost in wonder.

O grant me this abundant grace -
I hope t'will meet Thy pleasure -
That I might be Thy dwelling place,
Dear Savior Sweetest Treasure.
O Let me be Thy manger-bed
Then shall I lift my lowly head
With joy beoyand all measure.
