Morning Devotional...
Trials and Pain: Not Yet "Due Time"
But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.
--Job 23:10
God has said He will exalt you in due time, but remember, He is referring to His time and not yours!
Some of you are actually in a fiery furnace right now. You are in a special kind of spiritual testing. The pastor may not know it and others may not know it, but you have been praying and asking the Lord: "Why don't you get me out of this?"
In God's plan it is not yet "due time." When you have come through the fire, God will get you out and there will not be any smell of smoke on your garment and you will not have been harmed.
The only harm that can come will be from your insistence that God must get you out sooner than He plans.
The Lord has promised to exalt you in due time and He has always kept His promises to His people.
As children, we can always afford to wait. A saint of God does not have to be concerned about time when he is in the will of God.
I Call It Heresy! pp. 116-117
"Lord, I pray this morning for anyone who is 'actually in a fiery
furnace right now.' Give great grace to endure until the 'due time'
when You bring release and exaltation. Amen."
I would like to take this oppertunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. May you all have a blessed day.
God bless you all
Adri

Love you all,

Chris & Margit - I feel a little "sheepish" at not sending you greetings before now! I can't imagine where you obtained that photo.
Thank you Chris and Margit for all your beautiful Scripture Photos that you send.
Thank you Pat for the devotional today.
Today I am so thankful for the wonderful gift from God of his Son Jesus Christ who now lives in my heart and has given me life and life more abundantly. I am so grateful for my salvation and the forgiveness that He has given to me. I thank you Jesus for laying down your life for me for greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friends. You are my best friend.

Hi everyone on this Christmas Eve. I am just back from the cafe. This was the morning that we gave the 4 ladies who work there a monetary Christmas present. We have done that for several years as each of the men in our group contribute to the gift. Our group has grown quite a bit this year so the amount was larger than we have ever had before.
I suppose many of you are rushing about today with last minute preparations. We will have a quiet day here and the same tomorrow. However, tomorrow we will go to church and if my wife wants to do so I think I will take her to IHOP for breakfast before church.
Happy Birthday, Chris.
That was a very good devotional today, Pat. Thanks.
Merry Christmas Eve to all ! :) Not a terribly busy day here, but we've got some things to take care of and then an "event" of sorts tonight. I hope all of you have a great day!
Bernard
Hi Everyone:
Mitchell's, the Christian Book Store was open until MIDNIGHT last night and a lot of things were 1/2 price. The problem was a lot of stuff was gone. I wanted to get "The lotus and the Cross" by Ravi Zaccharias. I have a Buddist girl living here in my house. I want to give her that book. I have witnessed to her, but it will take time.
If I don't get on CP tomorrow, I am wishing you a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AS WE CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF OUR SAVIOUR. MAY WE ALL SENSE HIS PRESENCE STRONGER THAN EVER IN THE COMING YEAR!
Love Ruthie

Merry CHRISTmas!!!!
Thank you all for your birthday greetings, but His is so much more important tomorrow lol :) ;) :D ;D :thumbsup: <3
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHRIS!! And thanks for the beautiful card!
Nards and Karma.......... ;) Your house sounds "normal."
Ruthie, Marilyn, Adri and Al..........Merry Christmas to you, too! I'm so thankful for our wonderful Jesus.
Larry, it is good that you and Pat are having some quieter time. Rest and reflect on the goodness of Him and you will be doing just right. That is very nice of your coffee group to give the ladies a gift, and money is always the right color! :)
I need to roll Abby's hair, and get busy preparing what I can for supper in advance. I want us to be able to sit down and eat as soon as we get home from the Christmas Eve service at church. Diane and Jeff and the boys will meet us at the church, as they are open at the store until 5 today. She said last night they are really clearing stuff out! Of course, they have a great sale on....all Christmas items 75% off, everything else 40% off. They don't want to have to move and store all of it. (They are going to close for about a month and put in new ceiling, and new heat and air.)
I need to find that girl and get her hair rolled. See you later!
What lovely messages and how nice to see Chris here (and Margit too). Happy Birthday my dear, dear friend.

Silent Night, Holy Night (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/silent2.mid)

There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord
appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them.
Luke 2:8-9
Words: Josef Mohr, circa 1816-1818.
Stanzas 1 & 3 translated from German to English by John F. Young, 1863;
translator of stanzas 2 & 4: anonymous
Music: Franz X. Gruber, circa 1820
Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love?s pure light;
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
Silent night, holy night
Wondrous star, lend thy light;
With the angels let us sing,
Alleluia to our King;
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!

The First Noel (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/noel.mid)
(Click to hear music)
There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night.
An angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were terrified.
Luke 2:8-9
Words & Music: Traditional English carol, possibly dating from as early as the 13th Century
The first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
In fields where they lay tending their sheep,
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Refrain
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.
They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east, beyond them far;
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.
Refrain
And by the light of that same star
Three Wise Men came from country far;
To seek for a King was their intent,
And to follow the star wherever it went.
Refrain
This star drew nigh to the northwest,
Over Bethlehem it took its rest;
And there it did both stop and stay,
Right over the place where Jesus lay.
Refrain
Then did they know assuredly
Within that house the King did lie;
One entered it them for to see,
And found the Babe in poverty.
Refrain
Then entered in those Wise Men three,
Full reverently upon the knee,
And offered there, in His presence,
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Refrain
Between an ox stall and an ass,
This Child truly there He was;
For want of clothing they did Him lay
All in a manger, among the hay.
Refrain
Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord;
That hath made heaven and earth of naught,
And with His blood mankind hath bought.
Refrain
If we in our time shall do well,
We shall be free from death and hell;
For God hath prepared for us all
A resting place in general.
Refrain

It's here! Christmas Eve!
I have two Green Tomato Pies in the oven....sure smells great in my house.
Tonight I am going with Ivalou to her little church for Candlelight Services. I went last year and it was so touching with a small group of people.
Tomorrow my church is having one service at 10AM so I will be taking my crock pot of macaroni and cheese to Ivalou's before leaving home. She can do the 'stir occassionally' while I am at church AFTER she gets home from her church. Then when I return home, I will be having Christmas Dinner with Ivalou and her family...we think there will be 18 there....maybe a surprise and have 4 more...hopefully a great-grandson of Ivalou's that she hasn't seen yet! That would make her Christmas Merry! Then it is all over until next year!
Happy Birthday, Chris!
I am praying that everyone has a Blessed CHRIST Day as we celebrate Christ's birthday! (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fmy.core.com%2F%7Eettasue%2Fanimations%2FGlitteryChristmasTree.gif&hash=891f712ecea3fba600a98dc104f29832596db214)

:'( you forgot me ... sis !!
Wishing everyone a most blessed Christmas celebration.
Mine will be very quiet. Nothing going on tonight, and tomorrow Jane and I are going out to dinner together.
My daughter, Kim, and her husband went to Bend to a cabin with his family for Christmas. I'm so glad she decided to go. Paul's dad has Leukemia, and this may be his last time with all of his family together. There are 5 boys and 2 girls and they are all going with their families. Kim cried when she left because she didn't want to leave Angel and me. :) I assured her we'd be just fine and not to worry about us. Actually, Angel will be with her dad's family, so it's just me And JESUS :) :) tonight. I'll light candles, play some worship music and bask in His goodness to me.
TBear...I know God will bless your time at the hospital.
There are so many hurting this Christmas. My prayer is that the love of the Lord might overwhelm them and His healing will begin even now.
Here's a cute card to all at CP

Cute Pat. I have seen it before but it is so fun to do again. Thanks.
I have all my veggies prepared for tomorrow and the turnips and carrots are in the oven for some pre-baking time.
The house is all clean, I gave the doggies some carrots for treats now the rest of the day is mine.
I spoke to my former Pastor's Wife Peggy, some of you will remember them as Victor's parents. Please continue to pray for Victor Oliver he is now in prison at someplace near Fresno California, very far from his parents. Pastor Oliver is very ill with pneumonia and bronchitis, they delivered a hospital bed to their home for him. He will do the service tomorrow but Peggy will. These we my Pastor's before I moved away from the desert to where I am now for you newer folks. Please pray for them too.

O Little Town of Bethlehem (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/olittle.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you shall come for me one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.
Micah 5:2
Words: Phillips Brooks, 1867
Music: Lewis H. Redner, 1868
O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth!
How silently, how silently, the wondrous Gift is giv'n;
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His heav'n.
No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.
Where children pure and happy pray to the blessed Child,
Where misery cries out to Thee, Son of the mother mild;
Where charity stands watching and faith holds wide the door,
The dark night wakes, the glory breaks, and Christmas comes once more.
O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!

I am invited to go with two of my neighbors to the Christmas pagaent at the Presbyterian Church tonight ... It starts at 10 p.m. but, since one of them sings in the choir, we will be there around 9 p.m. Then, as Nita already said, she and I will be together tomorrow.
Karen I will be thinking of you and the family as you celebrate Christmas at the hospital... I know you and Rolan feel disappointed that he can't be home, but God knows best and we have to trust Him that this is the best.

The shepherds said to one another,
Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened,
which the Lord has told us about.
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph,
and the baby, who was lying in the manger.
Luke 2:15-16
Words: John F. Wade,
Music: "Adeste Fideles," John F. Wade (1711-1786)

O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;
Refrain
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal,
Lo, He shuns not the Virgin's womb;
Son of the Father, begotten, not created;
Refrain
Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;
O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest;
Refrain
See how the shepherds, summoned to His cradle,
Leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze;
We too will thither bend our joyful footsteps;
Refrain
Lo! star led chieftains, Magi, Christ adoring,
Offer Him incense, gold, and myrrh;
We to the Christ Child bring our hearts' oblations.
Refrain
Child, for us sinners poor and in the manger,
We would embrace Thee, with love and awe;
Who would not love Thee, loving us so dearly?
Refrain
Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be glory given;

I will raise up a King Who will reign wisely.
Jeremiah 23:5
Words & Music: William H. Neidlinger, 1890
In the little village of Bethlehem,
There lay a Child one day;
And the sky was bright with a holy light
O'er the place where Jesus lay.
Refrain
Alleluia! O how the angels sang.
Alleluia! How it rang!
And the sky was bright with a holy light
'Twas the birthday of a King.
'Twas a humble birthplace, but O how much
God gave to us that day,
From the manger bed what a path has led,
What a perfect, holy way.

Hark the Herald Angels Sing (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/hark2.mid)
(Click to hear music)
A great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, saying,
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests."
Luke 2:13-14
Words: Charles Wesley, Hymns and Sacred Poems, 1739
Music:Music: "Mendelssohn," Felix Mendelssohn, in his cantata Festgesang, 1840, honoring printer Johann Gutenberg; arranged by William H. Cummings in Congregational Hymn and Tune Book, by R. R. Chope, 1857
Hark! The herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th'angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
Refrain
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"
Christ, by highest heav'n adored;
Christ the everlasting Lord;
Late in time, behold Him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail th'incarnate Deity,
Pleased with us in flesh to dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel.
Refrain
Hail the heav'nly Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Ris'n with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die.
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Refrain
Come, Desire of nations, come,
Fix in us Thy humble home;
Rise, the woman's conqu'ring Seed,
Bruise in us the serpent's head.
Now display Thy saving power,
Ruined nature now restore;
Now in mystic union join
Thine to ours, and ours to Thine.
Refrain
Adam's likeness, Lord, efface,
Stamp Thine image in its place:
Second Adam from above,
Reinstate us in Thy love.
Let us Thee, though lost, regain,
Thee, the Life, the inner man:
O, to all Thyself impart,
Formed in each believing heart.
Refrain

Good evening! This is the best night of the year--for we remember Who came to earth veiled in flesh and skin, to live among us and to die for our sins. Praise be to His name forever!! Thank you, Jesus!
TBear, what wonderful news. I was praying Rolan wouldn't have to stay in the hospital for Christmas. That would be hard for all of you. So you just enjoy having him home, and take it easy.
Pat, I love that card! Thanks.
Abby and I have been cooking most of the day. She informed me "I can do it! I'm a young cook!" And she can, too. She was a big help. She peeled the carrots, etc, and cut them up, helped shell the eggs and cut them for devilled eggs, and was the official "taster" of everything. It sure smells good in here, she says it smells like beef jerky, but it's the brisket cooking along slowly in the roaster.
We are getting ready to go to the candlelight service, then the rest of the evening will be packed with family and fun. How blessed we are!
See you tomorrow!
See you tomorrow, Janet! Have a great evening!

Away in a Manager (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/awayin.mid)
(Click to hear music)
She gave birth to her firstborn, a son.
She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:7
Words: Verses 1 & 2, anonymous, in Little Children?s Book for Schools and Families, by J. C. File (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Evangelical Lutheran Church in North America, 1885). Some sources show the author as Martin Luther; this attribution (probably incorrect) is based on the title "Luther's Cradle Hymn," given to these words by the composer, James Murray, in his Dainty Songs for Little Lads and Lasses (Cincinnati, Ohio: The John Church Co., 1887). Verse 3 is by John Thomas McFarland (1851-1913)
Music: "Mueller," James R. Murray, 1887
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle til morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to live with Thee there.

HAVE YOU VOTED? (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=5085.0)
Yup I have voted.
It look like it is just you an me Pat. :cheer: I have everything ready I just have to heat the soup :yum: before the kids arrive in a couple of hours. :boots: I have been sitting here near my computer for a good part of the day. It has been a beautiful day here and now it is cooling off.
I had a wonderful conversation with one of the brothers from the church down south that I keep in touch with. He calls pretty often and we email back and forth frequently.
I will be back in a bit. :clap:
Yes, kind of lonely when you're alone on Christmas Eve, but it's one of those things. I've had a good time singing today anyway.
I love the Christmas Carols.
Well I'm working this Christmas eve, no church service for me :'(
I do have christmas day night off. I may not attend church in the morning, cause I don't feel too well, and I have sore throat
I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well, Smokey. Please get well soon.
Too bad you had to work.
Get well soon smokey. Sorry to hear that you have to work.
The kids have gone now and It's me and the doggies. I have to set my hair for tomorrow so I will see you then.
Nite nite.
Night Marilyn. think I'll have an early night as well.
So many posts to read and so many beautiful graphics....and cards!
Thanks for the devotional, Pat. Also the card is lovely.
Happy Birthday, Chris. Thanks for your beautiful card.
Lots of good news from folks and certainly God has been answering prayers.
I spent most of the day doing ironing and cooking supper for the kids. We watched a show about The Best Andy Williams Christmas Shows while eating. It was so nice to see and listen to....Wish they still made Christmas Shows like that. Last night, Wendy and I wrapped presents for Amanda's sock and Misty & Sqeek helped. I am slowly house training Misty and she is so much fun....most of the time ::)
Tonight Wendy & Ralph are going to a Catholic Church with his family and tomorrow we are all going to the Anglican Church. Then coming home to prepare the turkey dinner, tho' it will be cooking while we are out. A quiet Christmas this year and both Ralph and Amanda are working all Boxing Day. Lucky Amanda....she gets double time salary. I am so proud of how well she is doing at her job. Always ready to go when they call asking her to come in and do an extra shift. That will really help when she goes to university this fall.
I am going to bring Misty in now and give her a brush and dry shampoo. She does get a little woodsy outdoors....Squeek sneaked out early this morning and I was outside with my coat over nightclothes, helping Wendy catch her. Drat!! She is an indoor cat and that isn't going to change.
Anyone like a small smile?
Early Shopping
It was nearly Christmas and Judge Judy was in a happy mood. She asked the defendant, "What are you being prosecuted for?"
"Doing my Christmas shopping too early," replied the defendant.
"That's not a crime," replied Judge Judy.
"How early were you doing you Christmas shopping?"
"Before the store opened," replied the defendant!!
:) :) :) :) :)
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and that God will bless with peace, joy and love.
Liz
Ohhh, Liz! That's a good one.
Well, I'm going to lock the door on this one a little early but everyone can still post in the Christmas Day one till they retire for the night. Please do.
