Quote of the Day...
"Better a holy discord than a profane concord."
~Thomas Adams~
Morning Devotional...Wilt thou be made whole? John 5:6
We try to imagine the scene. A man who has been ill for thirty-eight years lies helpless beside the pool called Bethesda. He was without help, strength, or hope.
Is not that a picture of the sinner today? We are all part of Adam's fallen race (Rom. 5:12) and helpless in getting to heaven by our own efforts.
Thank God for the Man who stood before him that day, the Lord Jesus Christ. A miracle took place and the man who had been unable to walk did exactly that (Jn. 5:9). He would never forget the day he met the Saviour!
May you find the Saviour precious today.
--John M. CleggO Thou art precious to my heart,
my portion and my joy;
Forever let Thy boundless grace
my sweetest thoughts employ.

CONGRATULATIONS!!
QuoteI'll grant you, we are not in a world war right now, but ask the mom of any serviceman right now (or grandmom) in Iraq, and it's still a war.
...
Bernard's grandfather was in WWII. I forgot where all he served. He will talk about the war in general, but he will not discuss specific battles to any great length.
Thanks, KARMA. I have been following this discussion and kept quiet because it just hits too close to home. :( I have two grandsons in Iraq at this time. I hear every day of another soldier or soldiers killed in and around Baghdad ... That's where Bryan is located.
My father was in the Army in WW I. I was only 6 years old in 1941, but I remember a lot of what was happening and being talked of at the time. There have been other wars since then ... It doesn't make a lot of difference whether you call them war or peace-keeping or policing ... people are getting killed! This grandma is in prayer daily for all those who will never see their family or loved ones again. :'(
Whooo Hoooo SONJA!! Congratulations on (another) First Place Photo!
I have just finished reading all the posts from Dec.07 and it is now10:46PM here (still Dec.07).
Congratulations Sonja. Your Christmas photos are so beautiful..can see why you keep winning awards.
Went to church and it was pouring rain. Have to leave at 8 A.M. and don't get home until around 2 P.M, so was tired and busy with other things today. In fact, had a nap along the way.
Mieka, I have your name in my Bible and do pray for you each Sunday...as promised in an earlier post. We miss you.

Iain, I read the first link you posted about Rev. Robert Macleod. Wonderful testimony! Thanks for sharing that.
I came in here yesterday and wrote a long message to everyone but it got lost in cybor space.
I thought i would give it another try. I just need to keep my fingers off the backspace key. ::)
Ria and Jenny~Congrats on a new little baby girl princess. That is wonderful news. :D
I wanted to share with those who have been wondering about my test results. I won't know until later today, hopefully. ??? And as soon as I find out I will let you all know in the prayer request area. I am a bit nervious but I know the good Lord will let it be news I can handle.
Liz~ The thoughts of the ADVENT WREATH were nice. Thanks for sharing that. I will have to remember that to tell my kids.
Jane~ Your grandkids will be in my prayers today. ((hug))
Ria, thanks for the scripture. I am going to memorize this one. ;D
Romans 14:9
Christ died and returned to life
so that he might be the Lord of both
the dead and the living.
Yesterday was a busy day. We had Lila Mae's birthday party, church and cleaning. We did get the house all picked up. You all probable know how dirty the house gets after putting up a christmas tree.
Mike is finally feeling better. He had a touch of the flu and now Lila Mae started up a fever last night. I hope it is just a little reaction from the flu shot she got on Thursday. ::) The rest of the family is doing pretty good.
Troy and Zachery had a swim meet Sat. and Sun. Troy swam with ages 15-26. He did pretty good for his first meet. took 20 out of like 30 people.
Zachery swam against kids 11-12. He didn't do to bad either for his first time. He even had the guts to try the butterfly. He took last but at least he got out there and gave it a shot. They both are learning very fast and I am very proud of them.
It just hit me yesterday that my baby is become a little toddler. :'( She is growing up to fast.
Does anyone here know of a way I could stop the growth for just a little while? ;) ;D
I do love to see them all grow up, but it is hard at times.
Papa John~I noticed your post the last 2 days. I hope you will continue to post the word of God for us. Thank you! ((hug)) and a :-* on the cheek.
I guess I will end this very long post.
Luv you all
Sonja
hey ya'll
I guess it is good we type on here and not leave like voice things cuz i wouldn't be able to post :-\ :'( :-X my voice is almost completely gone. yesterdays youth rally really did me in! well i need to finish getting ready for school ttyl ok?
Sarah
I see you online, Ruthie! Is your computer fixed?
Just another reminder... If you use the size tag for your post, unless you are using size 4, 5, 6 or 7, you are posting your messages smaller than the default on CP.
I noticed that a few of you are using font size3 and so your text will be smaller than the rest. We enlarged the font for some who had trouble seeing the text.
Good morning all! Just popping in to say HI before i get ready to go to work.
Sorry I haven't been around much the past couple of weeks or so. My eyes are giving me fits, and looking at the computer screen is painful. Having had 3 migraine headaches in two weeks (one lasted for 5 days) :-\, I decided maybe it was time to visit the ole' eye doctor. I go in the morning.
'nuf complaining. Bernard and I are going to try to decorate for Christmas this week. Usually I keep putting it off, but your picturs have inspired me! ;)
Congrats Soni!! That is an awesome picture.
Take care all, and I may pop back in sometime today.
Good morning! I had trouble sleeping last night, then overslept this morning, so I missed my swim. :( But I'm glad I don't have a time clock to punch, so can sleep in when I need to do that.
I want to get my cards in the mail today, and get some other things done.
CONGRATULATIONS, SONJA!!
Good morning, Janet, Pat and Karma.
And a good morning to y'all. I need to apologize - I certainly didn't mean, when I made my remark yesterday, that we had no war at all! I just meant that we weren't at the moment involved in any world war, any huge, declared, all-out war like WW2. I am indeed glad we aren't in one of those! This present situation is bad, but not as bad as one of those by a long way. I do pray that we will be successful in Iraqu quickly and that our troops can come home where it's safe (on the highways?). But please do be thankful we have no Hitlers today, none who involve the entire world at one time. And may God deliver us from them.
I certainly love all the discussions. I wasn't even a gleam in daddy's eye when World War II started. But I remember when it ended and remember seeing the big headlines on the newspaper!!!
Congratulations, Sonja!!!!!!! What a wonderful photo. You deserve more than a first!!!
And so glad to see Papa John posting. Love your verses that just seem to hit the right spot.
Congratulations to the new little princess. Keep us informed, Ria.
I know I am missing a lot of responses to what was posted but just know that I have read them all and enjoy reading them all.
I love my CP friends.
Today I am going to try and get my Victorian Dinner photos all resized and compressed and then uploaded to Homestead so I can put them on CP. I am excited about them this year because I know so many more people at my church and have found that they are looking forward to seeing the photos online. Hopefully we will gain some new members to CP.»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

Hi everyone. Pat, I think I am guilty again of not having removed the size tag from my stored template so I have now taken care of that. Guess I corrected it on one computer but not the other. ???
In my Oswald Chambers devotional reading today are a couple of sentences that really stood out to me:
QuoteOur Lord does not pretend we are all right when we are all wrong. The Atonement is a propitiation whereby God through the death of Jesus makes an unholy man holy.
I wrote a lot yesterday so will be brief today. I enjoyed the choral concert last evening by our county Choral Guild. They sang both sacred and secular Christmas music and involved the audience in about 5 of the numbers. They have about 40 voices and they sang very well.
Congratulations Sonja on your 1st place photo.
I have more Christmas cards and letters to work on today so had better get busy. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Hello everyone...Just calling in to say "Hi"...I have been watching thousands of fans of the English Rugby team welcoming them with the Cup....wonderful They have all been given the freedom of the City of London. Lovely to see some happy things on our televisions.
It is icily cold here today and a thick frost on the lawn...
I still can't do much with my "puter" since the so-called up-date...and I am too tired to bother at the moment. Thank-fully I can reach you all and send my love and prayers.
Karmat, have you got an "Anti-Glare" screen cover for your modem?...Might help a bit!
Love and God Bless,
Jenny X
Well done Sonja........
I just came in from a bitter cold day,and am thawing out slowly.
A bit like a frozen turkey. lol
:)
Hey, you guys...I was just on IM with Pat, and she's having some kind of strange phenomen with her eyes - no pain, but she can't see out of the center. She's called her son. Pray for her!
Thanks
God of our life, there are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and weigh us down; when the road seems dreary and endless, the skies grey and threatening; when our lives have no music in them, and our hearts are lonely, and our souls have lost their courage. Flood the path with light, run our eyes to where the skies are full of promise; tune our hearts to brave music; give us the sense of comradeship with heroes and saints of every age; and so quicken our spirits that we may be able to encourage the souls of all who journey with us on the road of life, to Your honour and glory.
Augustine
Works and Biography
God our loving Father, we bring Pat before You, asking for Your healing touch upon her eyes, may all be well, to Your glory in Jesus, amen.
Lord deliver our dear sister.
"In the shadow of His hand He hid me." What a beautiful picture of the loving, nurturing care with which God surrounds His children. It is as though the hand of God were cupped over each of us, forming its protective shield against all danger, affording us shelter from the blazing heat of adversity. Because we are hidden in the shadow of His hand, no foe can alarm us, no harm can befall us. Under His protecting hand we are safe from every evil that would assail us. The shadow of His hand affords peace and rest. For Jesus' sake, the hand that casts the shadow removes from us our every burden of guilt and shame. In the shadow of His hand we find spiritual refreshment, for there we feed on His Word, and there we are blessed by His Spirit, who restores our souls and renews our hearts. Isa 49:2 Anonymous
And the longer you delay, the more your sin gets strength and rooting. If you cannot bend a twig, how will you be able to bend it when it is a tree?
Richard Baxter
Faith is rest, not toil. It is the giving up all the former weary efforts to do or feel something good, in order to induce God to love and pardon; and the calm reception of the truth so long rejected, that God is not waiting for any such inducements, but loves and pardons of His own goodwill, and is showing that goodwill to any sinner who will come to Him on such a footing, casting away his own poor performances or goodnesses, and relying implicitly upon the free love of Him who so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son.
Horatius Bonar (1808-1889)
Sonja.........
My congratulations. You have a true gift and an excellent lens.
Pat.........
It's most likely stress. You DO overdo it. Think about the hours you spend in front of the screen. You are taxing your eyes. You need a break. Praying for you kiddo.
Good morning noon to all.
Pat, I am adding my prayers to all your friends and family here. We love you and want you to be ok.
Sonja, I have been praying daily for you, little sister.
Karma, so glad you've decided to go ahead and get your little self to the doctor about your headaches. We know God heals, but sometimes he heals by the doctor's hands and wisdom. The pathway to healing is always HIS, and we are blessed to find it and not decide our own way. :) I am SO guilty of doing it my way. Forgive me, Father.
Sunshine here today. Yesterday it rained hard and we had a wonderful storm....today it's still and and the sky blue with soft clouds. That's the way it is with us too......and all seasons are in the Hands of our loving Father...designed, layed out, planned in tender loving care, to bring us to the image of Jesus. The journey of a life time. :)
Chris, I liked the things you posted today. I, too, am a lover of the wisdom of the past saints. We would do well to see where they have walked and the treasures they have left along the way.
Iain....I will look at your new testimonies later today. I really like your webpage, brother.
God bless. I love you all very much.
Oh no, Pat! That is not good. I will be prayer for you. Please take it easy today. Love you!

In the Bleak Midwinter (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/in-the-bleak-midwinter.mid)
(Click to hear music)
"She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:7-8
Words: Christina Rossetti, 1872; she wrote these words in response to a request from the magazine Scribner's Monthly for a Christmas poem
Music: "Cranham," Gustav T. Holst, 1906
In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Our God, heaven cannot hold Him, nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away when He comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.
Enough for Him, Whom cherubim, worship night and day,
Breastful of milk, and a mangerful of hay;
Enough for Him, Whom angels fall before,
The ox and ass and camel which adore.
Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;
But His mother only, in her maiden bliss,
Worshipped the beloved with a kiss.
What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.

I pray for Pat's eyesight to be completly restored. Blessings for you, Pat.
Wow I leave for a few hours and come home and our Pat is having trouble seeing. I think I have heard of that kind of thing but can't remember what it is called. Well actually I do but I will not confess that over our dear Pat. She is going to be just fine, it is only stress.
Trying to get some cards addressed this afternoon. I wasn't going to send any out but changed my mind a couple of days ago. I am already getting cardsa form friends down south and other places. I also need towrite a few letters to go with the cards.
WELCOME JULES

Jingle Bells (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/jingle-bells.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
Through the fields we go
Laughing all the way.
Bells on bob-tail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight.
cho: Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh, O
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.
A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot,
We ran into a drifted bank
And there we got upsot.
A day or two ago
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh
He laughed at me as
I there sprawling laid
But quickly drove away.
Now the ground is white,
Go it while you're young,
Take the girls along
And sing this sleighing song.
Just bet a bob-tailed bay,
Two-forty as his speed,
Hitch him to an open sleigh
and crack! You'll take the lead.

Early morning wake-up call - could I please fill in today, the girl I work with/for had a very bad sore throat. Only an hour to get ready and clock in, but I made it. ;D Now I'm not sure about tomorrow. She says she feels better and will probably go in, but will call me if she can't. So I'll set the alarm just in case so I don't get caught in such a mad rush again. No big deal, if I don't need to go in it just gives me that much more time for bible study and prayer.
A pretty day today. A little warmer but still below freezing and when the sun began to go lower around 3:00 .... brrrrr! I am so thankful for our warm little trailer.
Have been trying and trying to post and it keeps cutting out and disappearing. Some elf is working his mischief again!
Will try once more to post this Christmas Story as it is rather interesting. Think I will do it in two parts....just in case.
THE CHRISTMAS ENVELOPE
(author unknown) from Sowing Seeds Ministry
It's just a small, white envelope stuck among the branches of our Christmas tree. No name, no id, no inscription. It has peeked through the branches of our tree for the past 10 years or so.
It all began because my husband Mike hated Christmas - oh, not the true meaning of Christmas, but the commercial aspects of it - overspending...the frantic running around at the last minute to get a tie for Uncle Harry and the dusting powder for Grandma - the gifts given in desperation because you couldn't think of anything else.
Knowing he felt this way, I decided one year to bypass the usual shirts, sweaters, ties and so forth. I reached for something special just for Mike. The inspiration came in an unusual way. Our son Kevin, who was 12 that year, was wrestling at the Jr. level at the school he attended; and shortly before Christmas, there was a no-league match against a team sponsored by an inner-city church. These youngsters, dressed in sneakers so ragged that shoestrings seemed to be the only thing holding them together, presented a sharp contrast to our boys in their spiffy blue and gold uniforms and sparkling new wrestling shoes.
As the match began, I was alarmed to see that the other team was wrestling without headgear, a kind of light helmet designed to protect a wrestler's ears. It was a luxury the ragtag team obviously could not affford.

Hello to every one :)
I am so sorry our dear Pat is not feeling well. I do hope and pray she has a quick recovery.
Pat we need you so take it easy and come back to us rested and fully healed.
I know many of you read Oswald Chambers and I strongly recommend you get the web site on your favorites where you can read it, if you do not have a copy of "My Utmost for His Highest". My copy is well worn, and it has never gone out of style. :) :)
Larry thanks for the quote you left with us today. I have a habit of rating some of the daily devotions of Oswald Chambers, as to how I personally feel about them. I do not have any that are not worthy of reading over and over, but this one has a high rating for me, it has three stars by it in my book.
Oswald Chambers put the message of our salvation out there in a way that opens your heart, soul and mind to the understanding that God intends for us to learn and tell others about. Oh I feel Oswald Chambers was a true spokesman for God. Amen.
I do not care what your political feelings may be, but did you all know that President Bush reads "My Utmost for His Highest" along with the Bible every morning.
(2)
Well, we ended up walloping them. We took every weight class. And as each of their boys got up from the mat, he swaggered around in his tatters with false bravado, a kind of street pride that couldn't acknowledge defeat.
Mike, seated beside me, shook his head sadly, "I wish just one of them could have won," he said. "They have a lot of potential, but losing like this could take the heart right out of them." Mike loved kids - all kids - and he knew them, having coached little league football, baseball and lacrosse. That's when the idea for his present came. That afternoon, I went to a local sporting goods store and bought an assortment of wrestling headgear and shoes and sent them anonymously to the inner-city church.
On Christmas Eve, I placed the envelops on the tree, the note inside telling Mike what I had done and that this was his gift from me. His smile was the brightest thing about Christmas that year and in succeeding years.
For each Christmas, I followed the tradition - one year sending a group of mentally handicapped youngsters to a hockey game, another year a check to a pair of elderly brothers whose home had burned to the ground, and on and on. The envelope became the highlight of our Christmas. It was always the last thing opened on Christmas morning and our children, ignoring their new toys, would stand with wide-eyed anticipation as their dad lifted the envelope from the tree to reveal it's contents.
As the children grew, the toys gave way to more practical presents, but the envelope never lost its allure. The story doesn't end there. You see, we lost Mike last year due to dreaded cancer. When Christmas rolled around, I was still so wrapped in grief that I barely got the tree up. But Christmas Eve found me placing an envelope on the tree, and in the morning, it was joined by three more. Each of our children, unbeknownst to the others, had placed an envelope on the tree for their dad. The tradition has grown and someday will expand even further with our grandchildren standing around the tree with wide-eyed anticipation watching their fathers take down the envelope. Mike's spirit, like the Christmas Spirit, will always be with us.
Well, there was a post in between the two parts, but I hope some of you found the story of interest.
Hope and pray that Pat will be okay. She does so much for so many. Time to take a rest.
God Bless.
Liz, I am sorry looks like I posted while you are writing the second part to the story.... ;D
I know every one here can just scroll by and finish the story. :)
It is a great story, thanks Liz for posting it. Gives a meaning to Christmas presents, I think. :) :)
As you know.... I live only a ten minute drive from Pat. I called her about an hour ago.,....she still cannot focus properly, and promises she will contact her eye doctor tomorrow if things don't improve.
I told her that you are all concerned., and are praying for her.
This probably should be posted in the Prayer Section.... but I'm sure you don't mind me putting it here.
Sonja - I sent you an I.M., and I am waiting for your reply, so I can call Pat.
Jeanne: I always feel so encouraged when I read your posts. You always remind us on how much we should be thankful for....even for cold blustery days!...LOL
Boots: Nice photo!
Jules: Welcome to C.P. Please come in and tell us about yourself. Arkansas eh? How is YOUR weather?
Since alot of people are posting their favorite Christmas stories. I'll post one of my favorites:
Maybe when Pat gets back we should have a separate category for this!
TWO BABES IN A MANGER
In 1994, two Americans answered an invitation from the Russian Department of Education to teach morals and ethics (based on biblical principles) in the public schools. They were invited to teach at prisons, businesses, the fire and police departments and a large orphanage. About 100 boys and girls who had been abandoned, abused, and left in the care of a government-run program were in the orphanage.
They relate the following story in their own words: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was nearing the holiday season, 1994, time for our orphans to hear, for the first time, the traditional story of Christmas. We told them about Mary and Joseph arriving in Bethlehem. Finding no room in the inn, the couple went to a stable, where the baby Jesus was born and placed in a manger. Throughout the story, the children and orphanage staff sat in amazement as they listened. Some sat on the edges of their stools, trying to grasp every word. Completing the story, we gave the children three small pieces of cardboard to make a crude manger. Each child was given a small paper square, cut from yellow napkins I had brought with me. No colored paper was available in the city. Following instructions, the children tore the paper and carefully laid strips in the manger for straw. Small squares of flannel, cut from a worn-out nightgown an American lady was throwing away as she left Russia, were used for the baby s blanket. A doll-like baby was cut from tan felt we had brought from the United States. The orphans were busy assembling their manger as I walked among them to see if they needed any help. All went well until I got to one table where little Misha sat. He looked to be about 6 years old and had finished his project.
As I looked at the little boy's manger, I was startled to see not one, but two babies in the manger. Quickly, I called for the translator to ask the lad why there were two babies in the manger. Crossing his arms in front of him and looking at this completed manger scene, the child began to repeat the story very seriously. For such a young boy, who had only heard the Christmas story once, he related the happenings accurately-until he came to the part where Mary put the baby Jesus in the manger. Then Misha started to ad-lib. He made up his own ending to the story as he said, And when Maria laid the baby in the manger, Jesus looked at me and asked me if I had a place to stay. I told him I have no mamma and I have no papa, so I don't have any place to stay. Then Jesus told me I could stay with him. But I told him I couldn't, because I didn't have a gift to give him like everybody else did. But I wanted to stay with Jesus so much, so I thought about what I had that maybe I could use for a gift. I thought maybe if I kept him warm, that would be a good gift. So I asked Jesus, If I keep you warm, will that be a good enough gift? And Jesus told me, If you keep me warm, that will be the best gift anybody ever gave me. So I got into the manger, and then Jesus looked at me and he told me I could stay with him---for always. As little Misha finished his story, his eyes brimmed full of tears that splashed down his little cheeks. Putting his hand over his face, his head dropped to the table and his shoulders shook as he sobbed and sobbed. The little orphan had found someone who would never abandon nor abuse him, someone who would stay with him- FOR ALWAYS.
I've learned that it s not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts.
Take this one to heart and think about how blessed we really are. Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:16-18
Liz: What a moving letter that you wrote! I read it a couple of times., and then read it aloud to my husband! I would like to copy it, and perhaps include it with my Christmas cards next year.

Looking at the sky late this afternoon we had a big stormy looking sun dog and then this evening the moon also has rings the color of a storm, perhaps a big ugly one.
Also early this eveing we met Sue at Tim Hortons, it is about the half way point for the both of us to meet for a time of sharing.

Hahahah. Just kidding. I love them. It serves to remind me what a miraculous time Christmas is. It is late, and I have to get an early start on a long day tomorrow, so I will probably be heading out of here soon.
Take care, and I hope to hear good news from Soni and Pat tomorrow.
