Morning Devotional...Trials and Pain: It Works!
..Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. --2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Ten thousand enemies cannot stop a Christian, cannot even slow him
down, if he meets them in an attitude of complete trust in God. They will become to him like the atmosphere that resists the airplane,
but which because the plane's designer knew how to take advantage of that resistance, actually lifts the plane aloft and holds it there for a journey of 2,000 miles. What would have been an enemy to the plane becomes a helpful servant to aid it on its way....
If this should seem like a bit of theorizing, remember that always the greatest Christians have come out of hard times and tough situations. Tribulations actually worked for their spiritual perfection in that they taught them to trust not in themselves but in the Lord who raised the dead. They learned that the enemy could not block their progress unless they surrendered to the urgings of the flesh and began to complain. And slowly, they learned to stop complaining and start praising. It is that simple--and it works!
We Travel an Appointed Way, 32-33."Lord, I wish I could more readily 'stop complaining and start praising.' I pray for Your grace to work within me that I might allow the trials to lift me aloft rather than press me down. I'll do it in Your strength today. Amen."
Morning All here on CP..
Pat, Thank you for this mornings devotional, how true it is, that when I came back home to Father ,( I don't think for me) I could have gone any lower and Praise The Lord, I have come up so far from the Pits of darkness that I was living in, And now so many years later I know that I am who I am because of what I had gone through , And it dose make me love my God even more..
Once again, I am up since 3:30am here in the US, and sitting here at the computer. I was up checking onb Cheryl as I said yesterday she was having prblems with her breathing, so I am up every hour or so to check her, not much sleep lately though.
Well I hope all is well with you out there today, God Bless and keep you.
Alma
Hi everyone.
Janet, what a concern. Surely God provided some kind souls at the airport to help her and I should think the airline staff would be extra attentive as surely they deal with situations like this in these difficult situations. I know these things are of little comfort to you and I understand your frustration in not being able to provide your usual loving care. Just remember that making this trip now was Beth's decision and, as we all have to do, we she is dealing with the results of the decision. Hopefully she will be able to complete her trip this morning. I know we will all give a sigh of relief for her and for you when we see your posting saying she has arrived safely and is with John.
Today is a busy day as this is our monthly computer learning center volunteer meeting and then the PC User Group this afternoon. Fortunately we have a sunny, if cold day. It is so much better than it was yesterday. I was feeling very "grumpy" yesterday but happy to say that feeling has passed.
Pat, I hope you are feeling better today.
Well I am done with Bible study and went and read last nights posts,
Janet , I am so pleased at least you know Beth is alright, I am praying you will hear from her early today and give your heart some rest. God bless you and your family during this trying time..
Pat, I hope you are feeling better, Has the bug caught up with you.
Karmat, I am praying over you and your little ones during this flu season, as always they pass it around.. Hope its just gose away and stays away from all of you and I hope you got some rest.
Marilyn, I bet it is wonderful living in the Redwoods, a photographers dreamland up there isn't it? How are your people doing?
Good Morning larry, it is always so nice to see you..
Al, I see you over there on the shout box..It looks like you and me eh?
To all of you other beautiful CP' ers,
May God's face shine upon you as you come and go today!!
Alma
Oh Father, we're just waiting on You for Beth and her trip. We know Your wonderful hands have everything under control. You know even far better than we do how weak we are in our faith. Oh give Janet total trust in Your perfect will, Your loving sovereignty over every moment. Father, You know our hearts - we pray You'll keep Beth safe and sound, and we pray You'll deal with the people around her to move them to help. Oh grant her to finish her trip safely. But - she is in Your wonderful hands, and so help us to trust that all things that happen to Beth are in Your perfect will and loving care. We trust You. Help us to trust You more fully - through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hello all! Alma, it's good to "see" you -- I enjoy reading your posts.
Larry, we will allow you a grumpy day or two, but that's it, okay. ;) Glad you're feeling better today.
We started Kristi's antibiotics last night, and she seems to be feeling better. Still has a runny nose and cough, but the fever is gone, she has some color back, and she is in a better mood. Travis seems to be "back" too. he actually asked for (and ate) breakfast this morning.
Janet, I hope you were able to rest last night, and I hope you have good news from Beth. I thought about her (and you) alot last night.
And amen to Al.
Well, I'm gonna go see what I can get stirred up! Take care
karmat
PRAISE GOD!! PRAISE GOD!! PRAISE GOD!! PRAISE GOD!!
Beth and her little dog, Mieka, are safely in Utica, NY at John's. I called him just now and he said she is here! Of course, I asked why she didn't call me, and she said she didn't want to wake me up. :ticked: Anyway, she said they messed around with her wheelchair so long in Denver (they didn't know how to put the foot rests on it) that they caused her to miss the plane to Chicago, and they also messed up one of the foot rests, which will need repair.
Then they booked her on another flight, which got canceled. So they put her on a little plane like the one from Garden City; it taxiied out and sat so long it had to return to the gate for de0icing---then out again, and the windshield wipers wouldn't work. Back to the gate for 45 minutes; change to another plane, finally take off. She got to Syracuse at 2:30 AM, then John had to drive 50 miles to get her; and they got to his place at 6 AM.
But she said other than being very tired, she and the dog are fine, and of course relieved to be there at last.
I hope I can settle down now and get on with things. I've had quite enough excitement to last me for a long time. :P
Thanks so sincerely for all your prayers, all your kind words and your caring and loving hearts. You're a true blue bunch of firends and I love each one of you! <3
As I lay in bed last night praying for Beth, the Father gently spoke to my heart, assuring me she was fine, that He was taking care of her. After that, I was able to get some sleep. Praise you, Father!
Yet, Alma, it was just us cats on here! Please refresh my poor ol' memory - where is Big Bear? Is that down below Kings Canyon Natl. Park somewhere?
YEA JANET!!!!!!!!!!!1
WOOHOOO GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Hey, I uploaded a picture. It is the one we are going to print and use in our Christmas cards!
http://www.christianphotographers.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0 (http://www.christianphotographers.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0)
Al Big Bear is up the mountain from where I lived 25 miles. going from about 3600 feet to 8,000 in just those few short miles. Up the back side of the San Bernardino mountains.
Alma yes it is a photographer paradise here. and MY people are doing pretty good considering that two of them are in their 90's and still getting around fairly well and doing a lot of the house work themselves..
Oh Janet hat is a Praise the Lord for sure. I prayed off and on all night long and probably got less sleep than you did. I was up at 3 am and back to bed still unable to sleep.
Thanks, Marilyn, for locating Big Bear for me. Wonder of wonders, that's at least the very general area where I thought it was. King's Canyon Natl. Park is just north of it. I've been most of those places, but it was years and years ago.
North of it? Yeah by about 200 miles

Anthony ~ Thanks for the comment on the devotional. Personally, I think that you can love someone but not like their actions. A Christian can hurt another Christian. You can love that person and still not speak. You can agree to disagree. I thank God that I have never had a conflict with a family member.
Al ~ I don't know about Ali Cat whirling around in water but she spends 90% of her awake hours in the sink drinking water from the faucet! She gets wet sometimes because she steps on the stopper and the sink starts filling up with water!!!
Alma ~ I am sorry you couldn't find the Victorian Dinner photos. There are 79 of them so too many for CP forums. So Click here http://egann.photosite.com/ Click on the thumbnails to enlarge the photos or if you have fast service, the slide shows are nice. Don't forget to sign my Guest Book on one of the albums. Thank you.
Janet ~ I feel your anxiety! I am thinking how I would be if I were stranded in Chicago and I have two feet and two legs to walk on. God loves Beth and you. He takes care of his little children. Trust in Him. I just read that Beth arrived and is with John. I didn't realize she took Mieka with her. It is amazing that with all of Beth's health problems that she still feels she can do things. God is good....all the time.
Karma ~ Great picture! Travis is getting so grown up. And do I see a little red in Kristi's hair? She is a doll baby!
Well, Indiana was hit with a winter storm yesterday. I went to the chiropractor with dry conditions on the roadway but came home to icing up windshield and snowy roads with about a quarter mile visiblilty. It continued all night with high winds. My 200 foot drive is clear in some spots and 3-4ft drifts in others. So I am homebound until some kind person comes and cleans my drive for me. And my snow shovel is in the garage so I can't even clean my deck. This snow was a very wet snow and a broom won't budge it...I have tried already!
I won't mind missing the chiropractor tomorrow morning but I have my 60 Chix luncheon tomorrow at noon and Christmas with Tony and Charlene tomorrow evening...sure would like to go to them. It is to be bright and sunny tomorrow but still below freezing!
Is it Spring yet? :ticked:(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(^)(^)^(

Wow Janet that was quite a deal with Beth. BUT you can know and rest in the fact that HIS hand is on her and HE is caring for her.
This is the 2nd day that I have been able to get on the puter. My problems continued until yesterday when it appeared a magic gene waved a wand and voila without doing anything the internet worked. No I don't believe in genies, but I didn't do anything this time. Perhaps the problem was with the server.
Winter is here the ground is covered. There was an accident last week that has shook up our community. An elderly lady (85) spun out on the road and rolled her van. She died leaving a 87yo husband and he walked out of the accident.. It is sad to see this happen.
Well I will be back tomorrow, have a good day everyone.
Judy
Hi Everyone...
I'm so glad that Beth is safe now in Syracuse. What a journey she had. It would have been awful for a person without any problems but poor Beth.
Hi Judy. Nice to see you.
Well, it's nice to see everyone.
Great photo, Karma!
I hope you are all clicking on the photos up top and leaving our member a comment! I put up Karma's up there just now.

There's a Song in the Air (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/christmas/songair.mid)
(Click to hear music)
She gave birth to her firstborn, a son.
She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:7
Words: Josiah G. Holland, The Marble Prophecy and Other Poems, 1872
Music: Christmas Song, Karl P. Harrington, 1904
There's a song in the air! There's a star in the sky!
There's a mother's deep prayer and a baby's low cry!
And the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing,
For the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!
There's a tumult of joy o'er the wonderful birth,
For the virgin's sweet Boy is the Lord of the earth.
Ay! the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing,
For the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!
In the light of that star lie the ages impearled;
And that song from afar has swept over the world.
Every hearth is aflame, and the beautiful sing
In the homes of the nations that Jesus is King!
We rejoice in the light, and we echo the song
That comes down through the night from the heavenly throng.
Ay! we shout to the lovely evangel they bring,
And we greet in His cradle our Savior and King!

The music is not playing on my computer in Windows Media Player today.
Pat, the photo at the top on mine is by Trish, entitled My First Christmas. :)
Yes, Beth is in Utica with John, and I expect is sleeping soundly after her harrowing journey. Praise God! Syracuse is 50 miles from Utica, so John had quite a drive through the blizzard to get her and bring her to Utica.
I just learned that Pat and I have the responsibility of sewing 8 angel costumes, 3 for shepherds, and 2 for kings! They tried to order them, but they were out of stock and back ordered. Anyone have a pattern???? HELP!! :-\

Janet, the photos all change. If you are on the main forum page, they all fade in and then fade out and a new one comes up and if you click "refresh", there's a new photo each time you do this.

Marilyn, that happened to me last night as well and I re-booted and all was well. I have it playing right now so the file is working.
Pat: Is this every nice - I had changed the site from under my favorites before but it didn't work until you sent me this clickable. Hooray, now I am logged on & don't have to find a new password. Thanks so much!
Hi everyone! We went away for a week and I couldn't get logged onto this site & it is set to be automatic.
Janet: Oh, my gosh what a time for you. Take a lot of deep and thankful breaths and put your feet up - see that you have to do some sewing. Well, I just spent almost an hour looking for something in the sewing room - my mind needs help.
Good to be back.
Larry: Thank you as well for trying to help out.
Al: I wore my compression hose on the airplane and did it ever make me feel hot but made it & then the temp was into the lowest digits when we returned so I couldn't complain about being hot when there was ice all over the car....

I am very late posting today. We've had a problem with ill health in the house yesterday and today. I did read about
Janet's concern over Beth and I am so glad that everything has turned out well and that Beth is safe.
Sorry to be so selfish in this post, but I felt so low today that I wondered how I was going to manage. The word of God really shed light onto the situation. I wonder how many times the people on C.P. have felt as though they had come to the end of it all, only to find new depths to love of Christ? The words to a hymn really sums up what I am trying to say:
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed 'ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.
Do we know that hymn Pat? I'd love to sing along to it with everyone.
Anthony.
Here you are, Anthony... I'm not too pleased with the midi but it will do till we get a better one...

He Giveth More Grace (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/he-giveth-more-grace.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Author: Annie Johnson Flint
Musician: Hubert Mitchell
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater;
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase,
To added affliction He addeth His mercy;
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
Refrain
His love has no limit; His grace has no measure;
His power has no boundary known unto men.
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again!
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done.
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.
Refrain

Here I am. Quiet night for folks tonight.
I've been out shopping (grocery shopping) and just got in. It's very cold out there.
What wonderful words that hymn has! Thanks for requesting it, Anthony. And yes, I do understand how you have felt today. I have been there almost every day these past three weeks.
I am going to my painting group meeting tomorrow, first time I have gotten to go in months! I'm looking forward to relaxing and having fun with friends.
I made several calls today and found that the Assembly of God church in Hugoton has costumes and are willing to lend them to us, as their program is this Sunday night and ours is the following Sunday! Isn't God grand??? :D Then we will work toward building up a group of costumes for following years so we won't encounter this pressure again.
God bless each of you!
Hi everyone. I'm working on getting motivated to go the the store tonight. Not Christmas shopping. I just need some groceries. It seem the more I stay home, the more I want to stay home. I thought I'd better get out tonight.
I'm giving cash to my grandkids this year. I purchased a couple of items for Angel on Ebay. That's the only shopping I've done. It's a very good thing I'm not Santa. haha I don't like Christmas shopping crowds at all.
Janet, I've been concerned, along with everyone else here, about where Beth was and how she was making do. I knew God would care for her, but still it's so good to get the news. I do believe I could hear your sigh of relief and assurance all the way here in Oregon. haha God is so good.
Anthony, isn't it so true....that as we come to the end, or wonder how we can manage, or go on, or wherever the "end" causes us to end up...that God is always there to take us to a new place of surrender to all He is? I've seen this over and over. It's when I give up, because I'm at the "end", that I find that blessed and precious door opening to me...and that door is always IN Him and is our destiny. Just think........it's in HIM that we live. We spend our earthly days exploring Him, and letting go of all we are outside of Christ. I pray your day is better tomorrow.
Nita
Just came by to say (https://www.christianphotographers.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10009/Nite%20Nite.jpg)
I'm feeling so much like you feel, Nita. I went and did some grocery shopping tonight. I got a few bargains too. :)
Night Night, Marilyn!
Janet~As others have already said, I am very grateful and relieved to read your news of Beth's adventure and safe arrival in New York.
My neighbor came over this afternoon and, while she was here she looked out the window and said "There's someone backing up into your place." I looked out and it was my friend with his truck load of stove wood. I was expecting him tomorrow but he said "Aw, I just figured today would be a better day." I really appreciate that.
Nita~I know what you mean about shopping and crowds and staying home and ... and... and ... ;) I have only three things that I brought in and put up for Christmas decor. Just don't have the "want - to" to do anything more than that. I wasn't going to put up the little carolling doll this year because she reminds me of my songster daughter Jean. I did though. Now, when I look at her I feel those oh so familiar pangs of missing her and all the "if only" and "what ifs" ...
I need to get some things taken care of at the moment so I will be moseying off ....
Time to lock the door...
