Morning Devotional...

Behold, I come quickly...Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Revelation 22:12, 20

Isn't that good news! He's coming quickly! He promised it three times (vv. 7, 12, 20) in the last chapter of the Bible, and the Lord always keeps His appointments and promises.

He never forgets, and is never late.

Therefore, dear believer, today, no matter what your
circumstances, there is every reason to look up and be encouraged because we have this blessed hope: He is coming soon!
--Carl Knott

It May Be At Noon (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/itMayBeAtNoon.mid)
(Click to hear music)

It may be at morn, when the day is awaking,
When sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking,
That Jesus will come in the fullness of glory
To receive from the world His own.

Refrain
O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad song?
Christ returneth, Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Amen, Hallelujah! Amen.

It may be at midday, it may be at twilight,
It may be, perchance, that the blackness of midnight
Will burst into light in the blaze of His glory,
When Jesus receives His own.

O joy! O delight! should we go without dying,
No sickness, no sadness, no dread, and no crying,
Caught up through the clouds with our Lord into glory,
When Jesus receives His own.

Thank you Pat for that wonderful song.    It will surely be wonderful when Jesus comes for His own.   And we are His own.  The Bible says His sheep know His voice.

I trust we are all ready for His return.

God Bless

Good Morning Dear Ones.

What a lovely morning we have here in England.  The sun is shining, it's warmer and it's my son's birthday so I do thank-God for this double whammie!

Thank-you Pat, Liz and Ruthie for your comments re my posts made after I went to bed last night.  I do pop back to catch up with you all.  :)

Soni. Heed these little warnings, take care dear little sis. You are overdoing it again.  You have such a lot on your plate.

Sue. Thinking of you at this time.

Pat, thank-you for that lovely short devotional.  I am reminded of my mother when she was dying saying "Is it nearly morning?"

It is nearly morning....Morning will come.

"Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in  the morning."Ps 30:5

"In no other religion and no other literature is 'joy' so conspicuous as in Christianity and in the Bible....and Christianity stands firm so long as men who have it are invested with joy."  Clow's Concordance.

Be filled with joy this day.

Good Morning It is a little cooler but fresh.

Pat thanks for your devotional and hymn,

Ria Good morning. I like how you always mention the time.

Sue:       Memories:
It was 7 years ago yesterday that your husband suddenly left us.  Although it was a shock to so many of those who loved him, he is now free of pain.

Have a wonderful day

Good Morning Everyone...

It's a great day here in Guelph!  What a lovely sunrise but alas, I wasn't dressed or I would have tried to drive to somewhere where there were no houses!

I have an Avon order to finish packing today.  I'm way behind in many things since I was in London all day yesterday.  My mouth is a little less sore today and that's great!

Sue, my thoughts are with you at this time.  Yes, not until a person experiences the loss of a husband or wife do they fully realize the emptiness that is suddenly forced upon them.  It's so different from losing another.  I was speaking to a lady on Sunday who lost her husband 37 years ago and she was telling me that it seems like only 37 days!  She still experiences the same feelings and it is at times like that that it's so wonderful to put ourselves into the loving hands of the Saviour for comfort.

Hi Jenny!   Is it Chris's birthday?  If so, I must say...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!!

Thanks for the verse that is one of my favourites, Jenny.  My father used to quote that so often as I was growing up.

Quote"Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in  the morning."Ps 30:5

Ria, I don't recognize the little poem you put in this morning.  Is it a hymn?  It sure has words that would be meaningful to all of us.

QuoteMY  FAITHFUL  GUIDE

Jesus, my faithful pilot and guide...
help me to begin each new day
with Your name in my thoughts,
Your love in my heart,
Your Spirit at my site to guide and lead me
.

I do pray that your father is doing better now, Ria,  and no more falling.

Nice to see you in here so early too, Ruth.

Sarah, have a good day at school...

Ruthie and Karmat, don't work too hard and we'll look forward to seeing you later on in here.

Now, I'm off to pack my Avon...

Larry ~ I didn't think you would mind for me to point out the misspelled word on your church's website.  I know I misspell (is 'misspell' spelled right?) but I do notice when a word is misspelled or the wrong usage is used such as 'hear' instead of 'here', What really bugs me is when 'Bible' is not capitalized.  The technology of electronics is mind-boggling.  I retired from electronics in 1993 and the progress since is outstanding.  Uh, I don't even know what MP3 is.  My mind says it is compressed data/audio and more can be put on a CD than normal.  MP3 uses CD's, right?  Or am I totally off the wall?  I am still playing with Avant.  May be asking you questions about it from time to time.  Thanks bunches, Larry!

Janet ~ Hahaha!  DVD vs. TiVo!  Yes, I have TiVo...well, actually it is Ultimate TV.  I record things daily and sometimes it is hard to keep up.  But I can fast forward...love all these makeover room/houses/yards shows.  But sometimes I know I have seen them but can't remember the outcome so I fast forward to see the done thing!  DVD?  I am not a movie person.  Now Ivalou would watch a movie over anything else but not me.  If I want to take a nap, just turn on a movie...haha!  (I have only rented a couple of movies but I used to get them from the library)

Jenny ~ That would be scary, someone knocking on your door at that time, regardless of who it is.  Jerry's DIL is Muslim but she thinks her God is the same as my God.  I don't know.  I don't know enough about Muslim to say.  I know she says she doesn't believe in the old Muslim way.

Liz ~ What better way to get rejuvenated for the coming work week than to spend time in God's house?  I can't believe that any church would change their services from Sunday to during the week.  Maybe 'also' but not 'instead'.

It is bright and sunny here.  I have to go to the bank this morning.  Wish I had somewhere else to go since it would be a great day for driving.  But, I will probably come back home as soon as I do my banking and maybe stop at the Dollar General!

Inky and Ali are tearing up Jack!!!!  Mom always said that..."Look!  Now quit tearing up Jack!"  Never knew who Jack was!!

2.20p.m. U.K.

Dear Etta Sue,

Please say Hello to Jerry's DIL for me.  I am glad she realises that the old way is wrong. She is open to the Truth in Jesus.

There are many good things in the Koran and much that fits in with our scriptures but Jesus is not there! It is wide open to interpretation.

Moslems believe in One God, but not as Father, because they do not have the Son, Jesus.Even the demons believe in God and they quake(James2:19)  "He who does not have the Son does not have the Father." said Jesus.

"and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him." Luke 10:22

We are very priviliged as Christians to know the Truth in the Son ( see David Winter's Book Truth in the Son.).

I have a good recommendation for anyone who might be interested re different faiths and that is :

"What About Other Faiths."  By Martin Goldsmith.
this is simple to understand.  Very readable and informative.

Anyone who has kept up with me will know I have some dear Moslem friends.  I do want this known so that you realise I am not their enemy.  My wish is that they may come to the Truth in Jesus.  Many are doing so.  He is able.

G'mornin' to all!  I said I was going to get back here yesterday, but it didn't happen.  Hope I can get caught up on things today.  Been busy since returning Monday evening.  But busy is good.  Had a very, very good trip down to Davis, CA to preach last Sunday.  Oh what wonderful people in a wonderful church!  You oughta hear them sing!  And I've never seen such attentive people listening to a message!  It's inspiring!  It's a church of over 550 people, and all of them come both morning and evening!  It's called Grace Valley Christian Center, and many of the congregation are students at University of California at Davis.  Actually, several members are professors there as well.  Hope to have some pictures for you a little later.

Good Morning:

Al how wonderful for you to have such an attentive group coming to both services. That  must have really had you "jazzed". I am still trying to get you to visit my church one of these days soon. Both the morning and the evening services. I think you would really enjoy what the youth are doing at my church. I just wish that everyone here could have the opportunity to see  how these young people are serving God.  It is wonderful.

Etta Sue Do you also have Dollar Tree in your neck of the woods.? Tomorrow after my chiropractor appointment I am goin to stop there to get a couple of things. I want to see if they have received any new dog toys.

I will be back in a little while.

Just a brief note to expand on the message of yesterday.  We all have problems, often in the same area , often in other areas.  Nevertheless, we become overwhelmed with the burdens.  This verse came in my mail this morning.  Thank you Lord.

QuoteTHE LORD IS GOOD, A REFUGE IN TIMES OF TROUBLE.  HE CARES FOR THOSE WHO TRUST IN HIM.
                             ( NAHUM 1:7 *NIV )

Isn't it good to know He cares and takes care of us?

Zachary, yes worship is fun.  As I get older the more I look forward to being in our assembly to sing and pray and to hear God's word.  It is the highlight of my week.  I hope you will always enjoy worshiping God.

Janet and Ria, I used a walker when I first came home from the hospital.  It was a great help and without it I wouldn't have been mobile.  I am thankful now that I am walking every day in our Mall and when weather permits I walk for a mile in our neighborhood.  No walker, but I do use my cane.

Ruth Ann, it always good to see you here.  Are you still going to Richmond?

Sue and Ruth, It is good to find comfort after those seven years.  Time has a way of healing the hurt and pain in bereavement.  When I was a child I cut my hand with an ax while splitting wood.  I think it was the first time I had ever been to a doctor.  It was terrible.  But today there is little left of the scar after all these years.

I am ready to go to work, been sewing some more on my quilt top. It is going very slow. After I get all these strips sewn togethers I have to cut the swuares then the squares are cut in triangles and sewn back together in a pattern. etc. etc.

The sun is out today again expected to be out for a few more days. We are having a lite winter this year. Last year I remember reading that there was 11 inches of rain in one  month.

Hi everyone.  Welcome cbntmkr.  I look forward to your postings.

Happy Birthday, Chris.

Just home from coaching the computer class at the SeniorNet Learning Center.  This was the second of three weeks so will finish it next Wednesday.

I got up early and went walking before coffee this morning as knew my morning would be short.  Had to make a stop at the library and on the way home I stopped to get my car tags and pay the property taxes on both cars.  I will have to pay a $5 penalty on the car my daughter drives as we are not going to get it fixed in time before the tag expires.  At least I won't have a penalty to pay on the taxes portion.

This evening Pat and I will go to the church early so she can do the children's packets for the Sunday service and I have a meeting before choir practice with the fellow who is going to make the video to use on our church website.

Etta Sue, MP3 files are compressed audio, in the same category as the WMA files that play on the Windows Media Player.  You can convert WAV files into MP3 files with no noticeable loss of sound quality.

Pat, glad to hear that your mouth isn't as sore today.

I have enjoyed all of the postings today.  As I have some things I need to get done before this evening I will sign-off for now.

February 11

The Holy Spirit: Buried Under the Snow

Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
--Matthew 13:58

How many blessed truths have gotten snowed under. People believe
them, but they are just not being taught, that is all. I think of
our experience this morning. Here was a man and his wife, a very
fine intelligent couple from another city. They named the church to
which they belonged, and I instantly said, "That is a fine church!"
"Oh, yes," they said, "but they don't teach what we came over here
for." They came over because they were ill and wanted to be
scripturally anointed for healing. So I got together two
missionaries, two preachers, and an elder, and we anointed them and
prayed for them. If you were to go to that church where they attend
and say to the preacher, "Do you believe that the Lord answers
prayer and heals the sick?" he would reply, "Sure, I do!" He
believes it, but he doesn't teach it, and what you don't believe
strongly enough to teach doesn't do you any good.

It is the same with the fullness of the Holy Ghost. Evangelical
Christianity believes it, but nobody experiences it. It lies under
the snow, forgotten. I am praying that God may be able to melt away
the ice from this blessed truth, and let it spring up again alive,
that the Church and the people who hear may get some good out of it
and not merely say "I believe" while it is buried under the snow of
inactivity and nonattention.  How to Be Filled With the Spirit,
18-19.

"Lord, don't let me be guilty of keeping the truth of the Holy
Spirit's ministry 'buried under the snow.' Help me to both teach
and live the active presence and controlling power of the Holy
Spirit today. Amen."

Sonja, you can send me a check anytime.  I can always use a couple of extra dollars.

Jenny, Happy Birthday to Chris.  Cornelia and I went to see Master and Commander a few weeks ago.  It was very well done and we enjoyed it.

Al, I'm glad you had a good week end and a successful time visiting in Davis.

Marilyn, we have a Dollar Tree near us.  I think it is Cornelia's favorite store.  I like the cookies and candy which I don't need but which I eat anyway.

We will have our supper a little early tonight because we go to our mid-week meeting.  We are having fish tonight which isn't my favorite but it is good.  I like fish when it is dropped in cornmeal and then fried but Cornelia doesn't make fried food anymore.  Baked fish is all right but not as good as fried fish.

But I don't want to complain.  We are so fortunate to have so many material blessings.

1 Tim 6:6-10
6   But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7   For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8   And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9   But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10   For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.  (KJV)

Hi Joyce, love your pictures of the deer in the snow.  Great shot.

Ria, thank you for that little poem.  It makes me feel wonderful inside.

WELCOME  CBNTMKR
Does your name mean or have something to do with a tentmaker?   Like the apostle Paul!

Sue,   it must be hard right now for you.   Praise God your husband is in heaven!

Hi Sarah, hope your day was wonderful after getting a good night's sleep.

Janet, I bet your art class went very well.   I can remember when I took art lessons.   Some days were wonderful and some days were frustrating and I wished I had quit painting while I was ahead.

Jenny, I have a friend who is a Muslem.   She is the technician at my work who does the mammograms and she is very good.   I can always recommend her.  Zari is from Iran and we like each other.  One day she will know Jesus as her Saviour.

Hi Al, what a great report about the church in Davis, CA where you were preaching.  I'm sure the congregation loved you.   It reminds me of the time I was in South Africa.   Boy could the congregation sing!  The sure didn't need microphones!

Judy, thank you for the scripture Nahum 1:7  The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble.  He cares for those who trust in Him.   Praise God.

Papa John,   so good to see you.  It is wonderful that you can meet with the brethren and worship together.  Yes it is the highlight of my week
also.

Sonja... I love your post with all the little characters moving across the screen.   I would love to do the same.   Need to learn.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS

Mullet,   that sure is funny the way you describe our Mommy.  Is she bouncing up and down on the tramboline!

I hope everyone is planning on seeing "The Passion of Christ"   Apparently the ten Boom Holocaust Center in Ha'arlem, Holland, has launched a prayer and letter campaign to Mel Gibson to add a postscript to the film that will be shown in anti-Semitic countries to deter those countries from using the movie to incite Jew-hatred. The statement would say at the end of the movie, "During the roman occupation more than 250,000 Jews were crucified by the Romans, but only one rose from the dead."   The movie will be translated into Russian, Arabic, French and dozens of other languages.    Please pray that God will use this movie to draw people to Himself and speak to Christians about their walk with Him.
God Bless

Love Ruthie ;)

Mullet, sounds as though you have a fever.  :-\  Bath and bed are probably just the ticket.

We got Gene's new glasses today, which had to be paid for "up front" and now we wait to see how much of the cost the insurance will reimburse.  One place in the coverage explanations it says one pair of glasses for a cataract removal and in another place it says one lens.   Whatever it is, it will be a help.

We continue to have warm sun during the day, just melting a little of the surface of the snow.  Then it freezes again overnight leaving an icy crust.  It looks beautiful when the sun reflects off of it, but it's really rough on the animals like deer, whose legs can get pretty banged up - even broken, when they break through the crust.

Goodnight, sweet Zachery, the one who sometimes holds props and sometimes holds lights, but always posts very cute graphics and is our little sweetheart.  (Will you be my Valentine?) ;) :D  Please be well tomorrow! (((hugs)))

Papa John, I am SO glad you are able to walk and that you got such a great report from your doctor!!  Wonderful news!!

Today, I had a much better time in class, and apologized to my painting buddy Dee, who sits next to me, for the grousing I did yesterday.  Guess I was just having a bad day, but today I took time to pray, that is what makes the difference!!!  If you're too busy to pray, you're too busy!

I am tired and want to watch Jack Van Impe preach on End Times Prophecy, which is coming on TBN in a couple of minutes.

I get it!!  cbntmkr----CABINETMAKER---RIGHT???  Kool!

Hey, Sonja---more cute graphics, I need to leatn some of those!

Ruthie, Mel Gibson did add that to the end of the movie, I got an email about it a couple of weeks ago.  I heard on the radio today that the Passion movie will be showing in all of our area theaters beginning Feb. 25th.  I hope I can go---have to drive at least 60 miles one way to see it, though.

LOL - Janet beat me to it.... CABINETMAKER!!! - I was going to guess that too, Janet.  Whatever., we all welcome him very sincerely!

Oh Marilyn - that truly was a sad site!

Zach., are you feeling better tonight?  A warm bath, getting into your jams, and crawling into bed with a good book is such good therapy when not feeling well...agree??

Sue:  I am praying for you today.  My good friend, Audrey, whose husband passed away last Saturday, told me today that she isn't sure if her husband was saved.  I tried my best to comfort her...it was VERY difficult knowing what to say.  I did say though "well, Audrey, he knew the way of salvation, you just don't know what went on between he and the Lord".
was that a decent thing to say to her?  Can anyone tell me?  :'(

What would YOU have said?  I'd really like to know, as I've been in a situation like this before.  Its hard to know what all to say, isn't it! :'(

Well after hearing that suggestion about a hot bath, getting into my jammies and crawling into bed with a good book sounds pretty attractive to me too Judy.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow.

I just read your post again Judy and I believe you said the right thing to Audrey.  It is true that we don't know what goes on between a person's heart and the Lord.  I sometimes tell a new Christian when talking about prayer that "God knows our thoughts" and God can read a person's mind and hear his thoughts at any time.

I remember talking to a very old lady in the hospital and I made the suggestion that all she had to do was to "ask Jesus to come into her heart" and he would come in.   She could hardly talk so all she had to do was say a prayer in her heart and Christ would come in for sure.   The next day the lady was not in the room.  I know God had me talk to her at just the right time.

Judy, you said the right thing.    God bless

Love Ruthie

Well, closing the door a little early tonight.  I have a sore back and I have more Avon to pack tomorrow and get delivered so I'm going to be resting up.  I've been told by some loving folks that I should get the door closed earlier anyway so that I can get my rest.   ;)

So, let's fill tomorrow's up before morning!  LOL

Judy, I agree with Ruthie.  Only God knows the heart of a person and we just can't know what happened in the heart of the person in those final moments.  I think your answer was just fine.
