Morning Devotional...

They come unto Him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
Mark 2:3

Hebrews 12:1 tells us to run with patience the race that is set before us, but sometimes we're so depressed and so spiritually weakened that we can't even walk or get off our bed. We need to be taken to the Lord in prayer, by our friends.

Whatever is keeping your friend from running the race, preventing him from getting to the Lord, in love take him to the Lord in prayer.

Those four friends worked together to have their friend's walk restored by the Lord.

Jesus saw "their" faith and healed the sick one.
-- R. M. B.

Friendship is one of the sweetest joys of life,
Many might have failed beneath the bitterness of their trial,
Had they not found a friend.
--C. H. Spurgeon

             According to Promise

..........."maybe Ishmael called Isaac a mere baby, just weaned. So are believers a feeble folk, and exceedingly likely to excite the derision of those who think themselves strong-minded.  Isaac could not deny that he was weak, neither can believers deny that they are faulty, and are subject to infirmities which may put them under just censure: but the world makes more of this than justice will allow, and mocks at saints for weaknesses which in others would be overlooked. We must not think it a strange thing if our insignificance and imperfection should set proud and self-righteous Pharisees jeering at us and our Gospel.

...........Perhaps the little Isaac, the child of such aged parents, seemed odd and strange to the young half bred Egyptian.  No person is so much a foriegner to his fellowmen as a man born from above.

..................Ishmael's mocking Isaac is only one among ten thousand proofs of the enmity which exists between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent.  The mixture of these two in Abraham's household came about through his own going down in to Egypt and acting in an unbelieving manner towards Pharoah.  Then the Egyptian bondwoman came into the camp............

..........no association of the unregenerate with the church of God will avail to alter their nature: an Ishmael in Abraham's encampment is Ishmael still.
Today the fiercest enemies of the Truth of God are the aliens in our Communion.  These are they who make believers in sound evangelical teaching look like strangers in the churches which were founded on the basis of scriptural doctrine.  They make us foriegners in our own land.  They are lenient to all manner of heresy; but the believer in the doctrines of Grace they sneer at as old-fashioned and bigoted - a belated mortal who ought studiously to seek out a grave and bury himself.

Yet will the man who trusts his God and believes His Covenant, be able to survive all mockeries; for he counts the reproach of Christ greater riches than all the Treasures of Egypt.

Gird yourselves therefore with a Holy Courage, you who are learning through Grace to live upon the Promise of God by faith. Was not that great Head of the Family despised and rejected of men?  Must not the brotherhood be conformed to the First-born?

If we are made partakers of Christ's sufferings,. we shall be partakers of His Glory; wherefore let us take part and lot with the crucified heir of all things."

C.H.Spurgeon

                  Lord, set us free
and teach us to abide in Thee.

I wish you all a Blessed Day

Hi everyone.  I have a fairly busy day ahead and will leave in a few minutes to do my morning walking before our 7:30 am Friday coffee at the senior center.  At 10:30 am we have our monthly SeniorNet Computer Learning Center volunteers meeting.  This is usually ends with a business lunch that is provided by the organization.  Then should have the afternoon and evening free.

Zachery, sure sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the arthritis and hope you will be feeling much better today.  You are so young to be suffering with such aches and pains.  However, you seem to have a great attitude.  You asked when the dear hunting season is in Georgia, it must start in November and end in January, although not sure  If I can remember I will ask my friend and let you know.

We had a lovely time last evening sharing the evening meal with our friends.  It helped top off a super birthday celebration, as did all the fine greetings and graphics that you all were so generous with here on CP.

Guess I had better head out for now and get my walking finished for today and for the week.

Pat, great devotion.  Seems to fit today.

Lee, thanks for posting that story!  That was hilarious. hehehe... ;D

Ria and Jenny~I am not into hunting eiter. I would rather shoot them with my camera.  ::)
But I would also rather eat the deer then a cow or chicken right now.  Seems to be a whole lot safer.

Hi Larry, glad you had fun last night at dinner. Hope your day goes well.

Jenny~I will keep Deborah in my prayers today. Thanks for sharing that.

Good luck, Sarah. I hope the guys win.  How is your emt class going?

Etta Sue~I loved your Valentine's greeting yesterday.

Zachery fever is down now.  His shoulders and legs still hurt.  I think I will take him to the doctor today.  He could have an infection.

Troy will be competing today and tomorrow.  He will be swimming the 200 freestyle and maybe the 100 freestyle.  I got his pictures back.  They turned out great.  I will have to post one.

I also got some pictures of Lila Mae sleeping on the coach.  Not very often we see her sleep.  She must had been tired.  She is doing great at night.  She doesn't get up any more.
I have a ton of bills to pay today.  At least I got most the laundry done.

Many are alone and lonely this time of the year,  Not just this time of the year, but all year, just the special days are particularily lonely.  To those among us who are alone make our Lord and Saviour your special valentine, He will and willingly will be with you this weekend.

http://www.cryofthespirit.com/alone.html

Well Melaura was up till past 3 last night.  I am tired as Idon't sleep well till I know she has settled.  Pray for her please it seems she has been catching every bug going in the past year, and it has worn me down, let alone her.  She often has a pale to yellow hew about her and there is nothing wrong blood test wise, just constant  viral infestions.  Spirit of Infirmity perhaps?

Something I found out yesterday.  the whole upstairs is on two fuses.  Looks like we are going to have to split the rooms up and put in new fuses.  I wish I knew how to do this and could remove this "one more job" from off John's sholders.  He is getting so weary.

I have a busy day today,  Not likely I will be in again till perhaps Monday.  Pat if you are going to be home tonight please email me. I have something for you.

Good to see you Jenny and Ria.  Have a good weekend.

Love and blessings to all of you.

Good mornign all!!  Kinda a restless night last night.  Travis was running a fever and really congested.  The fever stops as soon as he wakes up.  ???  Which is good, but perplexing.

The sun is out and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day today.

Our national guard the NCANG 211th is coming home today!!!  We are having a celebration in town at 2 o'clock.  The paper mill will blow the whistle then all the churchbells are supposed to ring.  Hopefully, people will turn out ot watch this and welcome them home.  They have been gone a large part of the past two years as they were first deployed in Afghanistan, returned home for a few months, then sent to Iraq.  One of the boy's father asked for two days off to spend with his son,a nd the employeer told him he could, but that it "might hurt him in the future."  That is just tacky.  But, even so, at least they are home!  Now, to get the others back, safely!

Have a great day ya'll.

Z, I hope you feel better today.

Sarah, Hope the guys do outstanding!

I see Zach is up and about.  Mighty early, young man.  How was your night?  I had a great night's rest!!!  How?...you say?  I shut the door and cat's were on the other side of the door!  Slept great until both of them decided it was time for Mom to be up.  When I opened the door, both of them were right there.  Inky started purring soooooo loud!!!

Well, I think I was online or at the pc too long yesterday.  My neck is saying so.  It doesn't hurt, no pain, but has a little burning sensation.  That tells me I overdid it!  Sooooo, even though it is gloomy and yucky outside, I have already called Ivalou and we are going out to eat and since Marilyn mentioned it, we are going to the 'everything's a dollar' store.  Besides, I have been hungry for French Fried Shrimp so we are going to Red Lobster.

Thanks, Jenny, for that quotation from Spurgeon.  It's certainly true that not all appreciate the doctrines of grace.  Those doctrines tell us that God alone can bring about our salvation, and there are many who would rather think they themselves had something to do with it.  So they mock.  But yet it is by that very grace of God alone that we are saved.

Etta Sue I was pain free for a whole week and woke up yesterday morning hurting alot. Went to the chiropractor yesterday and this morning  am still in pain just like before. I may have over done the excersises, doing the doorway push ups, and then sleeping on a different pillow for one night. So I am back to taking Ibuprophen and an occasional pain pill.

There is a Valentine's day banquet at the church tonight. The $$ for the tickets is going for the new overhead computer system for the worship team and the jumbo screen to display the songs and the power point for the pastor's message. Now the Pastor will have to learn Power point, he isn't all that computer literate or so he tells me.

I have to go dry my hair and get my breakfast. So I will--- ::)

Al Moak, I very much agree with you, and I was  reading just this morning, Acts ch 13 v 46-49.
"And as many as had been appointed to eternal life, believed."
Not the other way around. :)

Jenny, you're cookin' on the front burner for sure!

Camel's hair

Not the camel's skin with hair on it, but a garment made of the shaggier camel's hair, woven in a coarse fabric.

Matthew 3:4   And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

Hi everyone  :)

I have been absent for a few days, and have not read all the post.  I did notice yesterday we had a few not feeling very well.  Sorry to hear that, and hope all are much better today.

I will miss someone, but forgive me I am an old man.  ;D ;D

The two devotions today were very nice.  Thanks Jenny and Pat.

Papa John I do look forward to your posts that contain enormous wisdom, you are well blessed by the Lord.

Lee, it would seem windex is in short supply at the school on the west coast. I had a Big laugh with that one.  It could only work in a school or public place.  Should we get lip stick on the home mirrors a different solution will be needed to clean them.  ;D ;D

Etta Sue that was another good quote at the bottom of your post.
Ria, It is always good to read your post and I like your colors.
Al, You have more than a smile, great grin, must be the west coast weather.
Karmet, I know it is good to get some of our troops home, I also will be glad when they all return.
Hoping Travis is much improved soon.
Mullet, I do hope the Doctor can get you some relief from your pain.
Marilyn, happy birthday on the 6th.
Larry, happy birthday on the 12th.

Sonja you mentioned eating deer rather than cow or chicken..  I will stay with the  fried chicken and some apple pie.  It would be un-American otherwise.  (big smile)  ;) :)

Welcome to all the new comers.  You may notice I do not do the fancy post work like the others.  To make up for it I give you the following.  If it has been on here before I am sorry, but it is worth another look,  (big grin) ;D

So turn up you sound and click on below to see I was there.  Be sure to go to the next of each page.

Have a nice day.

Jenny, et al,
just chatted to Iain, He is being "pruned" he reckons, in other words, he is suffering pain and also could do with some work.
So let us all lift him up before our Loving Father, Who shall supply his every need, according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
He sends his regards to you all.

Hi dear people.  WOW!  Welcome to all the new people.

Oh, dear Iain.  I surely do understand the pain of pruning.  But, oh, your heart will be plumbed to the depths, again, dear brother.  I want God to remove everything from my heart that has not been captured by His love.  I look, and see that I have so far to go.  In His Grace, we will each, in our time, go through the "dark night of the soul".  I do believe this.  In emptiness and need, we have not one thing to give Him.......and so we, broken and so vulnerable, lay our naked selves before the Great God of the universe.....and in tearing sobs, cry "Daddy".  For He is.  And there are no more words.   I'm praying for you, my brother.  He will lift you.

I've been reading Tozer lately.  Chris, with his devotional postings has reminded me it's been awhile since I've read Pursuit Of God.  I have marked that blessed book through the years and my heart is stirred to love more and trust more and never stop desiring for more intimacy with our Lord.    I've also just ordered Brother Lawrence's The Practice Of The Presence Of God.....again. :)  My heart is drawn to ones such as these.....who have found the oneness with God, and with God's own heart, have written so that I, we, can follow their footsteps in the journey into God's heart.   What have I left so that others may follow?

Heh....Mullet!  I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well.  You know what??   I think everyone here has adopted you, kiddo.  How does it feel to have all these moms, grammas, and grampas.  Maybe even more sisters and brothers.  I always smile whenever I see you here.
You make me happy.  Did you know that God uses you to make all these old people feel young again?  Yep......it's true.   We love you, Zach.    Your brother is quieter than you, I can tell.  Is he that way at home too?  Well, you can tell him I said howdy. ok?

We have had some beautiful sunshine, but it's misting again today.  I didn't get my lawn mowed, so guess I have to wait for the the next few sunny days we have.  It isn't too bad, but I wanted to at least get the front mowed, so the people driving by could see it looking nice. :)  I always like to see manicured lawns and flowers.

   Have a blessed day.

Well, I got my shrimp but it just wasn't as tasty as what I was expecting.  My taster must be way off!  Now Ivalou and I are going to a neighbors.  Four of us widows are going to Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri in April.  I know what Ivalou and I want and like but have to find out about the other two.  It will be fun no matter what.

So good night all.

Sorry, Marilyn, to hear that your pain is back.  Remember I had the cortizone shot between the two vertabrae...probably why I haven't had any pain for a long time.  I know it hurts.  I feel you are having the pain for maybe the same reason as I did...degeneration and arthur!!  Hang in there and if an injection is suggested, go for it!

Again good night all!!!

Etta Sue It is a Pinched Nerve, I could see it on the xray. It didn't get this way over night and I know it isn't going to get better overnight. It is going to take a few months of adjustments to get the vertabrae to stay in place and for the  muscle to stop pulling it back down on the nerve. I have had these problem for all but the first 12 years of my life. Scoliosis leaves its mark for the rest of your life. Mine wasn't so bad that I had to wear one of those awful braces and was corrected by a chiropractor when it was discovered at 12 years old. I had a definite "S" shaped curve in my spine. When I have a full spine xray is is noticable but  just barely.

Jenny, I will pray for Deborah Xu.  I know there are many Christians persecuted for their faith today.  It is up to us Christians to pray fervently for them.

Do you think Pat and I should do a King David dance    Both Pat and I have had bad backs so the dance will be short.  Wow 7000 POSTS

Praying for you Iain.   Asking God to give you a special touch from Himself.

WELCOME AARON

Pat, Proverbs 23:7  The answer is Proverbs.

Nita, thank you for reminding me about those wonderful books.   I have "The Practise of the Presence of God"  and  "The Pursuit of God"  Will have to get them out and read again.   Right now I am reading  "A New Testament Walk with Oswald Chambers"   but this is a daily devotional.    I started Purpose Driven Life and need to start all over again.
God Bless.

Marilyn, I have a curvature of the spine at the bottom and deterioration at the top near my neck.   The chiropractor adjusted me last night, but I was still aching in the lower back on the left side only.  Then the ache goes around to the front.   He says it is the muscles and I guess a pinched nerve in the spine as well.   I put ice pack on the back and heat on the front.  Off and on.   I haven't taken any pills yet.

Talk to you all later.   God Bless.

Love Ruthie

Boots, I really appreciated the music and poetry, the message from God.  As for wiseom,  I only wish I had the wisdom you attribute to me.  I think of Paul's statement, "And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.  But if any man love God, the same is known of him." I Cor 8:2-3

There are so many things I do not know but I can pray for wisdom and God helps.  "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."  James 1:5

It is good to see everyone.  Iaian, hope you are feeling better soon.  God bless you.

Good evening, afternoon, morning....  whatever time it is when you see this.   ;D

We got a strange phone call tonight.  First was one of those computer voices explaining it was a survey of what I want to see on TV.  I though, great!  Now I can tell somebody what I think of today's TV programming.

I pressed "1" as directed and a new voice directed me to use the keypad to enter my age.  So I dutifully and truthfully entered "71". Immediately, the first voice informed me the survey was completed and thanked me for participating!

Obviously they were after preferences from much younger people - probably younger than 40 or 50, and weren't interested in the over 70 group.  Makes you wonder, though, doesn't it about the validity of those reports of surveys on various subjects?

jeanne, probably what it was is that they needed a certain number from each age group, and your "quota" was filled.  So, what are your TV preferences?  Inquiring minds want to know.  :P  At the Shuford house, our preference is no TV.  We have a dvd player on the computer, so we can watch a movie, or video occassionally, but no cable, satellite, anything like that.

I missed the 211th's homecoming.  :'(  I was sitting at the dr. with Travis.  :'( :'(  Doc said it could possibly be RSV (again) but because of his age and size, it is not as serious as it was last year.  Also gave me a prescription for an anitbiotic and told me if the fever was down significantly by Sunday, to get it filled and get him on it, and to call the office back.  The poor little guy sounds horrible.

I'm tired, and I have no idea what kind of night i am facing, so I had better get off of here.

Welcome to those that have registered in the past day or two!

Hvae an awesome weekend, yall.

Congratulations, Sarah!  Great job!

Troy, I completely missed your post where you asked me my times with swimming.  I did long distance and not short and I did the crawl and the breast stroke.  I have no recollection of any of my times.  Not sure if they even timed me.!  LOL

But I'm so interested in hearing about your times.  So please keep on telling me.  My two granddaughters before they moved to southern Ontario were on the Thunder Bay swim team for their age groups but there is nothing like that now where they live.
