JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

The Purpose and Attitude of Prayer

Matt. 6:9.
  "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name."

Two all-important aspects to your prayers to God are your purpose and your attitude in them.  The Disciple's prayer, which we often call "The Lord's Prayer" makes pretty plain what our purpose and attitude should be when we come before our Father.

First of all, our prayers have to be different from those of the vast majority of people - particularly the people our Lord mentioned in Matt. 6:1-8.  Simply put, our prayers shouldn't be ritualistic, repetitious, or hypocritical.  Instead, they should be, as in this model prayer, addressed to our heavenly Father just as we would address a loving earthly father - with one big difference.  That difference is that even just the name of our heavenly Father is "hallowed" - and that's the way we want it!  That just means that, in our hearts and minds, His Name - all that He is and does - is set very much apart from and higher than any other name in heaven or earth.

You can't address a Father like that with mere ritual, you wouldn't expect such a Father to respond to mere repetition, and you would be quite aware that such a Father wouldn't appreciate hypocrisy.  Besides, you love your heavenly Father, and you know He loves you - so you want to be real with Him - with a sense of reverential awe along with joy and happiness.

How do you come to Him?

Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face
(Click to hear music)

Text: Horatius Bonar, 1808-1889
Music: Edward Dearle

Bonar wrote this hymn at his brother's request.
Its first public appearance was in October 1855 in Horatius Bonar's church.
Later that same year, St. Andrew's Free Church in
Greenock, Scotland, issued it in pamphlet form.

Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face;
here would I touch and handle things unseen;
here grasp with firmer hand eternal grace,
and all my weariness upon thee lean.

This is the hour of banquet and of song;
this is the heavenly table spread for me;
here let me feast, and feasting, still prolong
the hallowed hour of fellowship with thee.

Here would I feed upon the bread of God,
here drink with thee the royal wine of heaven;
here would I lay aside each earthly load,
here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven.

Too soon we rise; the symbols disappear;
the feast, though not the love, is past and gone.
The bread and wine remove; but thou art here,
nearer than ever, still my shield and sun.

Feast after feast thus comes and passes by;
yet, passing, points to the glad feast above,
giving sweet foretaste of the festal joy,
the Lamb's great bridal feast of bliss and love.

Sorry to be soooo late getting yesterday's locked and today's started.  Had to take my wife to the emergency room last evening.  Thanks be to God, though, it was a blessing in disguise - they found the problem's cause, so now we're on the right road to recovery!  Nevertheless, though, by the time we got home I completely forgot about CP!

Al ~ Sorry to hear you had to take Marbeth to the ER but happy that now you know what to do.  God is Good.

Nita ~ Thanks for the link to Faye Blog and her photos.  What a great photographer and how fortunate to be living close to such wonderful subjects to photograph.  And yes, Extreme Makeover --Home Edition is my favorite TV show.  I don't miss it and I don't even mind watching the reruns!

Papa John ~ How happy I am to hear your good news of Cornelia.  Hopefully the pacemaker will help with her problems.  God is Good!

Tonight is Kilbuck Photography Guild and I don't have my pictures ready to take yet.  We can take up to 4 images a month.  I put mine on a CD and they project them on the overhead screen.  Really looks different when it is that huge!

Good Morning: We got some good news last night  about the young woman who got saved yesterday, She was accepted right into the Teen Challenge program and is now on her way to be set free from drugs. Praise the Lord.

We had a good prayer meeting last night too. I prayed for a lady with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She could not make a fist or  move her index fingers. At the end of the prayer meeting she came to me and said "Look" and she was completely closing her hand and wiggling her fingers. I didn't know  about her hands when I  prayed for them. I just prayed as I was led by the Lord to pray.

I have to take Fay to the foot doctor this morning and this afternoon I am going to the Senior Center to have my taxes done. Jan called me last night and wants to change our schedule from twice a week to once per week with more hours. That will work but I just have to talk to Fay about it this morning.

Good to see you back Carol.

Here it is Monday and back to work for another week. It is cool but the sun is out which makes everything bright.

I had just come here to do some banking so I had best get the job finished.

I called a friend of Sue's  this morning and as she said God is so good, she was able to get into therapy and is now getting extensive treatment for a herniated disk, after only 5 days she feels like a new person.  She was a school bus driver as well but that is over.

My prayers for all

Etta Sue, thanks for checking out Faye's photos.  Did you just fall in love with the little monkey and his monkey toy friend?  I thought that was the sweetest thing.  She said he carries that with him wherever he goes.  It's his "baby".  She's made these animal so personal for me.  :)

Al. don't worry about the CP, Marbeth comes first and we are just glad that she is ok!

Nita, I love the little monkey and his/her friend, too.  So cute!

Etta Sue, I looked at your new photos and left comments.  I need to unload and upload more photos, if life ever slows down just a little.

Another busy day..........in to weigh early this morning, stopped by the hospital to see Beth, then by the flower shop for a small Valentine gift for Diane, home for a bite of breakfast, off to Hugoton to see the chiropractor, picked up a Valentine's gift for Darrel at Diane's store; home, over to Beth's to help Darrel move her beds (She thought she wanted her regular Queen size back, now realizes she really needs the hospital bed;  laundry, lunch, went to Sublette with Darrel to help him with a service call.  Now here I am.  Oh, yes... had to follow Darrel to town to pick him up after he left the pickup for some repairs, then to get gas.  (Are you tired yet?  I am.  :P ) and I still have my Meltdown meeting tonight.  Phew!

Lots of Snow in Central Park last night!  Almost 27 inches!  I cannot imagine getting that much at one time.

I think I might just rest for a bit before that meeting.  See you later.

 I am finally done with my day and about to start my supper of a fried pork chop mashed potatoes and gravy. I got my taxes done today and this year I have to pay  a little bit.  That is now done and all I have to do is mail them off.

My next door neighbor's daughter ran over her kitty today  so there is sadness in the neighborhood, the cat was 15 yrs old and it seems like he committed suicide. He ran under her truck at the last minute.

Papa John

Al I'm glad your visiting the ER with your wife turned out all right.

I spent most of the day at the hospital.  Martha is there now and she is waiting for Rachel who will get there at 8:00.  Today they drew a half a liter of fluid from her lungs.  Tomorrow they plan to move her to a regular room out of special care.  Wednesday if everything goes well they will implant the pace maker and defibulator.  The doctor said we may be able to bring her home Friday but it will depend on how she is doing.

We are still encouraged.  We thank God.  And we continue to pray.

Nita

Yes, this is encouraging for all of us, Papa John.  Thank you for posting.

I hope you can get some rest tonight.   You surely need it.

Carol

Hi - just want to apologize for reregistering in the name of Romayne (that is my first name) - I was at my wit's end in trying to get back in here.  But all is well and now I don't have to relearn anything.  A prayer answered.

Nita:  Hi  to you tonight!  I read that the home makeover group is going to Biloxi, MS to fix a community center so people will be able to meet once more.

Janet:  I wondered & see that you wrote Beth is back home.  A hospital bed is really nice and I hope that it is enjoyable for her.  It sounds like you have days of dizzy duties just like me - just run around like crazy and that is when someone asks for a favor as well.  I hope all is well with the family.

Etta Sue:  Love your picture of the dogs wagging noses.  Thanks for the welcome to Romayne - that is me as I wrote above that I was trying a whole new registration name & password to get in here but I will just as soon write in my old normal name.  Glad that you missed the huge snowfall.  I think it was about 2 years ago that our town had 31 in. of snow and we were away & upon returning 3 days after the storm, the grocery stores were really empty.  It was sad to see.

Al:  It sounds like it was a very good thing that you did get to the ER - angels do watch over us.

Larry:  Hi - Good to be here.

Papa John:  Prayers for you and the family as well.

Well, the computer lets me in here again but I have suddenly been shut out of Senior Net.  We sure don't understand the problem.  We love watching downhill skiing and women's hockey at the Olympics.

Carol

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Good reports from Al and Papa John on wives make good reading here today.  Papa John it sounds like they will be putting in the device like I have as it is both a pacemaker and a defibulator.  I forget I have it implanted and it is no problem at all.

Thanks once again for all the Happy Birthday wishes.  It was a very nice birthday event.

Carol, glad to see you are once again able to access the CP site.  I certainly don't understand why you can't get back into SeniorNet as you should be able to access any site on the Internet from any computer.

Marilyn, you might as well wait until April 15th to file your taxes since you have to pay more than was withheld.  I haven't been able to start on my taxes yet as as still awaiting some final figures on some income.  I have preliminary figures but they stated they were not to be used for filing taxes.

Nita

Hello again.  Just wanted to let all know that I am on SKYPE again and I think I'm just "Nita".  I guess my log in name is different than the one you add to your contacts.  (Marilyn, I'm back with the Windows XP computer, so can use SKYPE again.

Etta Sue

My, I am hoping that everyone is okay since the NEM wasn't opened for today.  We will just continue on....

Nita ~ Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the monkey and her baby and all the other animals.  Is this the Animal Park that is on the coast...I think near Brookings?  WildLife Animal Walk-Thru Safari?  Is it still there?  I fell in love with a baby pygmy goat when I was last there.

Janet ~ All I can say is 'WHEW!  I am plum tuckered out just reading all you did!'

Papa John ~ Continued prayers going heavenward for you and Cornelia.  God Bless You!

I haven't been to the gallery yet to see the comments but I presented the same photos to the Guild last evening and got wonderful praises!  So thank you ahead of time.

Today I have a DATE!  Yes, a date.  I am taking my g-nephew to a Pizza Buffet that is basketball themed.  Aaron wasn't suppose to live to be 4 years old and he will be 29 in August!!  I am very impressed with his progress.  He is buying his own home, lives alone and is going on 10 years of full employment at an Elementary School as Custodian.  But he doesn't drive.  He used to have mini-seizures.  He has a moped that he uses to get to work and visiting family members.  Aaron is special to all of us.

Nita you are still listed under rainee4 so I still have you in my contacts. Thanks for letting me know.

So we are still on yesterday . Good Morning to one and all.
