JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Ruthie, nice new picture.

Nita, I agree with you.  The songs Pat posts here add a lot to CP.

Ria, nice to see you here every day.

Jenny, good to see you today.  Yes, Jesus' coming will resemble the coming of the flood in the days of Noah.  Because of Jesus' sacrifice for us we can be ready all the time.  When we have visited England we have always enjoyed having tea  ----  but here we usually have coffee.

Etta Sue, I am planning on seeing "The Passion".   I'm not sure just when and in a way I am dreading it.  Yet I think so much has been said about it that it should have a real and lasting  impression.  A lot of our young people at church are going together to a special showing.

Marilyn, it is always good to see your smiling face in here each day.

Hello Zachary.  Where did you get the name Mullet?

Janet, I like all the church songs too.  Where we worship we sing about half of the old hymns and half contemporary songs.  I enjoy singing these new spirited and spiritual songs.

Nards, it is always good to see you here.  I would like to see a clearer picture of you.  I have to turn sideways and still don't get a good picture of you.  I have been a Christian for 58 years and I'm still not sure about Fundamentalist and Evangelical.

Pat, I want to thank you for all the work you do to make CP possible.  You are one busy lady.

Larry, it is always good to see you.  We went to walk in the Mall this morning but not nearly as early as you.

Karmat, neither of the words are in the Bible so I think you are right in saying we shouldn't argue about them.

Sarah, I hope this doesn't have to be your last week.  Good luck.

Lee, I think you know a lot about diplomacy.  Sorry I didn't think of the line about Ruthie's daughter.

Always good to see you Chris and Margit.  I have arthritis in my neck which I just put up with and sometimes it is worse and sometimes better.

Fast Edie, good to see you today.

Jeanne, you are right.  What is important is that we are Christians.  I don't think that Peter, Paul, James, or John wore any particular label.  Jesus is my savior and I try to share his message of love and grace with others.

Etta Sue, yes the early disciples  were called Christians.  I would hate to think we will be judged by whether or not we understood the terms "evangelical" and "fundamentalist".

Sonja, good to see your smiling face today.  I think you have a busy day every day.

Sue, good to see you pop in and then out again today.

Also good to see Ruth and Rachelle.

NARD:  I haven't noticed anyone getting upset by the posts on the subject of Evangelical or Fundamentalist.

I have seen healthy discussion......we are all in agreement that you must be born again. What happens after that is what man does.

Reminds me of the story of how the first four churches were formed.

It seems that four of the men that Jesus healed had gotten together to discuss His work.

The first man healed said, "In order to be healed...he must touch you."

"Oh no," said the second man, "He must touch you twice."

The third man offered his story, "He must put mud on you, in order to be healed."

The fourth man said, "Oh no, first He has to apply the mud and then you have to go down to the pool and wash it off."

The four men could never agree on doctrine, and so the first four churches were formed.

Rachelle, I have missed you.  I am glad you are going to give it another try.  I know it can be stressful sometimes but this is a great family here.

I am off again.

later peeps.

RACHELLE!

Great to see you girl!  You've been so missed on here.  I'm not sure just who asked but I know that many did ask and wondered where you were so please know that you were missed.  I'm happy to see you back again.

Sometimes too, if people post to you on one specific day and you miss that day and then come in the next or even the next, you miss seeing them and then don't realize that people did speak to you or ask you something.

Thanks for trying it again, love.

Talk to you soon.

7. p.m. on the Northern California Coast, 20 foot waves are expected tomorrow according to the Coast Guard here and on the Oregon Coast. Not a good time to be out on the ocean. Lots of rain here and lots more expected. Not a new thing for this area, right Jane, Al and Nita?

Can you tell I don't know what to talk about? I just stopped in to see who has posted and what they have said. I will check back one more time before I go to bed. Got a Dr. appt. tomorrow with my regular clinic, just a monthly thing.

Rachelle thanks for answering my post to you. Good to see you here. Love you sister.

Still living in a freezer.

And Gene heard tonight on TV that March is expected to be the coldest on record.  Boy oh boy will we appreciate summer this year!  Hope my long johns don't wear out! ::)

Rachelle, it's good to see you back with us again.  I got tired just reading about what you do with your time!  ;D

I really admire you young mothers  (including my own daughter) who are home schooling your children.  I never would have even known where to begin.  Do you all use the internet a lot?  What happens when you have to teach something you never learned yourself?

Rachelle.  It is so good to see you.  I know how busy HS'ing can be.  I need to get back into a routine too.   Jeanne Lee If there is a subject you have no knowledge of you learn with the children.   When it comes to French I have a friend who teaches French and I teach her kids art. This is one way of solving the problem.

This has been a tramatic day for me.  There is a prayer request posted.   Also be praying for Bonnie and Sean.  Sean is hospital again.

Mother is happy where she is, she already has a new friend, and this lady is 2 years older than mom and is going to be a good friend for mom.

The previous discussion on doctrinal differences.... I believe Ria summed up my position quite nicely.

CHRIST ACCEPTED YOU, IN ORDER TO BRING
PRAISE TO GOD.
Also they will know we are Christians by our love.

Ria I am so proud of you.  Your understanding of the english language has grown so much, that I can see little difference between those of us raised "english" and the way you speak.  Keep it coming you are doing so well.  See if you can get some friends to join as well, OK

Well My eyes are sore and my head aching, so I am off here and going to bed.

I am still battling a virus but came back to read all the many posts for the past few days.  Interesting topics and only controversial if one if looking to be the ultimate authority.....Was saved in an independent Baptist Church that believed they were the only one in Canada that wasn't apostate.  Preached this from the pulpit!  They brought in the occasional speaker from the States and were for a time involved with Bob Jones University...who I highly regard.  Called them apostate when the university stopped using only the old King James Bible and switched to another version.

I spent five years in that church and did get a good grounding in scripture....then  learned that there was more to being a Christian than being dogmatic.  Have spent the last thirty years learning that kindness, love and tolerance, wins more people to Jesus.  That church finally closed and it's large radio ministry ended.  Not before many people were badly damaged and left the faith.

Since I love music, anything from opera to bluegrass, have found blessings in both old and new.  Still am moved more deeply by the old hymns as they tell a story....At least to me.  But this is from someone who found Bob Dylan's 'Slow Train Coming'  had much to offer....have eclectic musical tastes.

I am reading an interesting book 'The Hidden Jesus' by Donald Spoto.  In it he brings out that shepherds were not thought of in Judaism as being nice folks.  Like tax collectors, they got rich by being dishonest. Yet they were the first to learn about the birth of a Savior.  They were outcasts and sinners, yet responded with piety and adoration.   To quote a passage in the book:

'The Divine will is not a restriction imposed on us, a destiny from which we cannot escape; it is a loving reality far more benevolent, and far more effective on our behalf, than our own will could ever effect.'

So, for this person, titles are not important.  I am simply a Christian and hope that never changes.

God Bless and pleasant dreams.  Liz

Mel Gibson handled that interview with grace and humor.  My respect for him is growing steadily.  Our church bought 160 tickets for one showing of the Passion movie in Guymon, Oklahoma.  We will be going with the group and taking two friends with us.  Like Papa John, I sort of dread it, because I know it will be so painful, but I wouldn't miss going to it.

Rachelle, it is so good to see you here again!

Hi, Marilyn!  Go to bed!  (Just kidding. ;D)  But that's what I am about to do.  We will be leaving around 7 in the morning to take Beth to a doctor in Amarillo again.

See you tomorrow night or Wednesday!

I still have at least 1 1/2 hours before I get to see the Mel Gibson interview, I think it is on at 10 pm.  Not really sure. I haven't been to a movie theater in years, but I am going to make a point of going to see the Passion Movie maybe I can get someone from church to go with me. I feel out of place going alone.

Anyway Janet you can just go to bed then and I will be up for a few more hours. Let me put it this way . I will be awake for a few more hours but I will be in bed snuggled up the the dogs beside me watching the interview.

Hi CP friends. It's been a while since I have posted on CP as I have been busy running the highways and moving mother to North Bay. It has been an event filled 2 weeks which all started with my trip to Colorado. On the way out there we encounterd winter conditions with snow and ice on the highways in Nebraska and saw literally dozens of wreaks involving both cars and trucks. And then again on our way back we ran into winter conditions in Iowa and again saw dozens of wreaks. It was a good opportunity to point out to my trainee the results of driving to fast for conditions. That it is better to drive slower and get there than to put the rig into the ditch or as we call it in truckers language, into the rubbarb. When we got back this trip was backed up with a trip to Virginia and again we ran through snow in parts of the trip. It brings to mind that we serve an ausome God who keeps us safe throughout all of this and brings us back to our families.

Karmat, Thanks for the comments you made on truckers and sharing your observations. We always here about the negetive and it is good to hear the positive as well. I am familiar with the stretch of I40 you mensioned between TN and NC. I have run that stretch of Highway many times and your are right many travel to fast through there.

Life on the road is not as easy as many may think. We have to deal with other motorists of various degrees of compitence as well as dispatchers and shippers and receivers schedules and make it all comply with the hours of service regulations and home time.

We moved mother to North Bay this past weekend and I let Doug , my son drive the truck north as he drives part time for the same Company that I work for. It was the first time I was able to ride with him behind the wheel for more than just a few miles. This just confirmed in my mind something I already knew, that he is a good operator. As i like to affectionately put it, The kid knows how to operate a big truck and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I better watch it or he may out class me some day LOL

Well I guess that will do it for tonight, and I would like to wish all of you Gods rich blessings in your lives and remeber that He is in control.

God Bless. Bonesy
Phil. 1: 21. For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.

I love it when we get 5 or 6 pages in here.  And the discussion was wonderful. I learned lots.  Thanks Lee for the extra tip there.

I think I will hit the hay.

Nards, Nita, and Janet, awesome new pictures.  Makes me think of getting a new one.

Hey, did you know that Bob Dylan became a Christian?  He was a "baby Christian" and some people figured since he was a big music star, he could be a big music star for Jesus and pushed him into a music ministry that he was not mature enough to handle.  It ended bad.  :(

The first verse and chorus of one of his songs goes like this --

QuoteI was blinded by the devil
Born already ruined
Stone-cold dead
As I stepped out of the womb
By His grace I have been touched
By His word I have been healed
By His hand I have been delivered
By His spirit I Have been sealed.

I've been saved
By the blood of the lamb
Saved
By the blood of the lamb
Saved
Saved
And I'm so glad
Yes, I'm so glad
I'm so glad
So glad
I want to thank you, Lord
I just want to thank You Lord
Thank You Lord.

If you go to http://www.elyrics.net/go/b/Bob%20Dylan%20Lyrics/Saved%20Lyrics/
you can see the whole song, and possibly get an MP3 of it.  The site actually lists almost all his songs, I think, and he had an entire Christian album (called Saved, maybe) that you can probably find there as well.

Folks, it's Bob Dylan, so if you don't like the modern P&W stuff, this will cause you to have a coronary.  Do not follow my link!  :P :P :P :P :P :P :P   (love you guys!!)

Well, it's time to lock the door on yet another day.

I'm a bit late tonight.  Seemed as if CP had a bit of a hiccup there just about an hour ago so I phoned Ian and we ended up having a great conversation about parental/child relationships and just a great conversation!

(He couldn't get CP either for a few minutes.  Said that the server was terribly busy.)

And so here's a link for your new topic.  Hope we have as good a day tomorrow as today was in NEM.

Hi Everyone!

I know I know I haven't posted in a long time, I have been going through some things, and also didn't really feel like I fitted in much here~ but I decided I needed the Christian support and would give it another try-Schooling 3 girls is a big part of my day-and being a Mom and taking care of the house-I also have 3 online ministries and that takes alot of my time..Recently the enemy has really been causing problems with my brand new PC~today they were suppose to replace the mother board, the dvd and cd rom-well the guy came and they sent him the wrong Mother Board and not a DVD Drive~This morning I had trouble getting online-and  then when i finally did I smelt a burning smell..anyway they now are replacing the modem and also the power source too..I hope to get this fixed soon..this pc is only 4 mo. old..I am thankful that I did however get extra warranty on it.
Hugs
Rachelle

I kept trying to just quote parts of your post, and ended up deleting what I needed, so I had to start over.

Anyway, WELCOME BACK!!  I was wondering where you had been.  And don't worry, you are part of this group.  A very vital, critical part.  I enjoy reading your posts and seeing how your family is going.

Online ministries?  Do you "run" them, or are you just part of them? I thought I had read that one of them was a weight loss thingy. I assume WW didn't work well for you?  (I didn't work well for WW, hahahaha.  Ended up quitting, not hahahaha).   Is it open to anyone?  You can send me a PM if you don't want to answer in the forums.

Sorry about the PC problems.  Some days, I wonder if life wouldn't be better without them (but then, no cp. :-( )

Talk at ya later
