Morning Devotional...
Troubles for Jesus
Matthew 12:38-45 NLT
38One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and said, "Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove that you are from God."
39But Jesus replied, "Only an evil, faithless generation would ask for a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so I, the Son of Man, will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. 41The people of Nineveh will rise up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. And now someone greater than Jonah is here--and you refuse to repent. 42The queen of Sheba will also rise up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, because she came from a distant land to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And now someone greater than Solomon is here--and you refuse to listen to him.
43"When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. 44Then it says, `I will return to the person I came from.' So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and clean. 45Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before. That will be the experience of this evil generation."

Many people have thought, If I could just see a real miracle, then I could really believe in God. But Jesus' response to the Pharisees applies to us. Jesus knew that they had already seen enough miraculous proof to convince them that he was the Messiah--if they would just open their hearts.
But the Pharisees had already decided not to believe in Jesus, and more miracles would not change that. We have plenty of evidence--Jesus' death, resurrection, ascensions, and centuries of his work in the lives of believers around the world.
Instead of looking for additional evidence or miracles, accept what God has already given and move forward.
He may use your life as evidence to reach another person.

God loves each one of us as if there were but one of us to love.
Janet ~ I hope you didn't get bonked....I did see that you already posted before I locked yesterdays door.
Marilyn ~ Thanks for noticing the new signature tag. It looks great on white background but on this blue background, I see a lot of stray pixesl and I don't remember how to get rid of them on PSP. Do you remember or know?
Papa John ~ Very good news to hear that Cornelia may get to come home Friday. Do give her a gentle hug from Etta Sue.
It has been a very long day today and my neck and shoulders are tired. I hear the bed calling! »ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

Etta Sue, that's a really good devotional.
So good to hear from you, Papa John! I'm happy that Cornelia is doing better and will be home soon.
Hi Nita!
Thanks for opening up the New Every Morning, Etta Sue! I so appreciate your help in this way.
Good devotional Etta Sue.
We have a winter weather storm warning again today. I don't mind that, at least we are avoiding the minus 40^ weather. It is +1*C.
Our vehicle problem seems to be resolving itseld. Not sure what the final outcome will be, but God is showing himself again.
Hi everyone.
JudyB, glad to see your car problem is getting resolved. I hope you all don't get snowed in.
Papa John, I am sure Cornelia will be happy to be in her own home and will be able to get better rest.
Janet, sorry to hear you are experiencing the aches. If Abby doesn't want to play then it is hard to be motivated. I had that experience when I was in high school and had to play basketball in my last two years as had missed being able to play the first two do to a knee problem. I was never very capable and being a competitive person that really bothered me that I wasn't helping my team. I don't think our team ever won a game as we didn't have much of a talent pool. There were only 36 of us in the entire high school.
Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional today. I also like your new signature. I used PaintShop Pro 8 yesterday and salvaged some photos that my granddaugther had sent of my great grandsons that she took with a cellphone. The pictures were so dark that I couldn't see them and PSP brought the pictures out with the automatic adjustments. I was thrilled.
I am headed out in a few minutes to go back to see the PA that works for my cardiologist to have my ICD checked. Something happened over the weekend and this should tell me whether it was the defibulator firing or a wire coming lose or something else. I called him yesterday and he wanted to see me today. Then the cable TV people are scheduled to come again to see if they can fix the problem with our digital reception as there are several channels that breakup or won't come in.
Hope everyone has a good day and a special hi to all those postings that I haven't mentioned today. I read all the postings.
Etta Sue. Put your image back in PSP, enlarge to the point where you can see all the stray pixels, then take your eraser and erase them, then save your gif again as a transparent gif. Just scroll forward to enlarge it. Do you have a scrolling mouse? If not just zoom in on it. That should do it.
Good Morning and thanks Etta Sue for the devotional.
Friday will be my last day with Versal so my afternoon will be free to do as I please. I will probably be working for Jan on one of the afternoons as Sarah's school schedule this semester will be pretty well filled up. This is her last semester of the nursing program and she will be pretty busy traveling to the clinic in willow Creek twice a week and getting all her paperwork together for her graduation in May.
Fay called me about 8 yesterday morning to tell me that someone trieed to break into her house during the night. So i went over there and called the Sheriff for her and tried to get her calmed down. It was probably teenagers as they sure didn't know what they were doing if they were really going to break in. It wwas almost funny to see how they tried to get in. The Deputy told Fay that it wasn't a burglar but kids, she is convinced that someonewanted to get in to steal something they could use to buy drugs. She doesn't have anything. But it took me hours to get her calm enough to sit down.

Good morning! I have a really hectic day ahead of me, so am glad I'm not hurting as much this morning. By evening, though, it may be a different story!
JudyB, I'm glad your vehicle problem is working out, God is good---all the time. Not nice for sure not to have dependable wheels, especially when you live so far out from town.
Have any of you here ever gone on the Walk to Emmaus? And what did you think of the experience? Friends have offered to sponsor Darrel and me on one, coming up in April, and I value your opinions. So please tell me about it, if you don't mind.
My honey is leaving for Garden City, and I have to go see Beth, clean the house, and teach my class this afternoon. So I'd best get hopping!
Good devotional, Etta Sue----thanks!
Thanks Marilyn....I will try that. But I looked at my PSP X and it tells me that anti-aliasing may increase the number of colors in an image, which may cause stray colors to appear along the edges of text. Anti-aliasig may also make it difficult to reduce the file size and to maintain image quality. So I think I will re-do the signature....after I get done downloading an update for PSP X.
The ground hog didn't see his shadow in Indiana...so does that mean Indiana will NOT have 6 more weeks of winter? :idiot:
We have ;D tadaaaaaa........SUNSHINE
Well, we had it. By the time I changed the word to yellow, it went behind the clouds.
It isn't raining, however, and it's the first day in a long time. I think it's supposed to rain more, but for now, the sky is dry over me. :)
Janet, what is the Walk To Emmaus? I mean for today.
Need to look for a healthy lunch, so will hush this. Nita
Good morning from Japan. :coffee: Thanks for the good devotional today.
I am working through a nasty cold, my first in about 2 years. Prayers from across the Pacific are greatly appreciated. I am grateful, though, that this has been a slow week, allowing me time to get some extra rest.
With spring right around the corner, I'm looking forward to more great pictures from everyone. I hope to post a couple myself. The cherry blossoms are spectacular in this area.
In His Grip,
kevin
Kevin, are your blossoms out now? Or is this just a little promise for us that we have blossoms to enjoy soon?
I will be praying for you and this awful cold.

(Click to hear music)
When they were come to the place,
which is called Calvary,
there they crucified Him.
Luke 23:33
Words: Manie P. Ferguson (1850-1932)
Fairest of all the earth beside,
Chiefest of all unto Thy bride,
Fullness divine in Thee I see,
Beautiful Man of Calvary!
Refrain
That Man of Calvary
Has won my heart from me,
And died to set me free,
Blest Man of Calvary!
Granting the sinner life and peace,
Granting the captive sweet release,
Shedding His blood to make us free,
Merciful Man of Calvary!
Refrain
Giving the gifts obtained for men,
Pouring out love beyond our ken,
Giving us spotless purity,
Bountiful Man of Calvary!
Refrain
Comfort of all my earthly way,
Jesus I'll meet Thee some sweet day;
Center of glory Thee I'll see,
Wonderful Man of Calvary!

Pat,
I certainly appreciate your prayers. The cherry blossoms don't bloom 'til late March. In early March, some plum blossoms will burst forth, especially those where the sunlight is best.
We still have quite a wait.

Hi to all Praise the Lord for his goodness to my wife and I.
I do not know who alresdy read what I put in the other day in the praise section. The Lord has answered prayer for my wife Noreen by her getting an appointment with a surgeon in Toronto and we also got an other call from the Trillium Centre that they want her copies of her M.R.I. so that is an other answer. God just keeps on giving. We do have a request for an unspoken request to do with Noreens disibility. We do appreciate all the prayer.
High John and Judy B. you can keep the snow.
God Bless to all. Gord.
Hi Gord. Yes God is good....All the time
Well more of that 4 letter word is coming. Looks like another snow dump is coming. Sudbury and North Bay is expecting 15 cm Now when you look at the number of inches it doesn't feel as bad. That is 6 inches.
I slept the afternoon away. I guess this cold is taking more out of me than I at first thought,
I too am looking forward to the pictures from Japan.
One groundhog says 6 weeks till spring, another ground hog said a month and a half till spring. Ok 6 weeks and a month and a halk, aren't they the same thing? Six weeks puts us into the middle of March. I am thankful that February is a short month.
Tomorrow is a PD day. Sso we can all sleep late. That will be nice.
Well night all
Janet I have heard of the walk to Emmaus a friend of mine from the desert went on one and so die her 3 oldest children. It was a weekend retreat type of thing and when the grils went on the last night the boys did all the preparations and escorted the girls. I can't tell you any more because that is all remember. I think it might be a Pentecostal and Charismatic type. I do know that the gifts were mentioned.
Hi everyone. This has been a good day for me. I was able to get my appointment with the Physician's Assistant changed to an earlier time and he checked my pacemaker/defibulator and said there hadn't been any shocks and the wiring was all in proper working order. Therefore, the sharp pain I had on Saturday wasn't related to the ICD. We got home before the rain really started and then the cable repairmen came on time and found I had a defective cable box. They replaced it and the new unit is about 1/10th the size of the old one and the problems are fixed.
Marilyn, I know you will enjoy having more time to yourself. Sorry about the attempted breakin as I am sure that your friend will be upset for a long time.
Gord, it was good to read that things are working out for your wife in terms of getting the medical attention she needs.
Kevin, hope the cold doesn't last too long.
JudyB, what is a PD day? Hope you don't get too much snow.
Marilyn: Are you pleased that you will have more time away from work? I can't believe the time has come for Sarah's graduation already! What degree will she have? Does she have a job lined up already?
Janet: I think you need to "slow down".... I know you do so much for Beth, but I'm afraid for your health. Please explain that Road to Emmaus you are talking about.
How is Darrel doing now? I think little Abby should play volleyball, if this is what she really wants to do.
Papa John: I am so pleased to see that Cornelia is possibly coming home on Friday. She will do so much better at home.... I KNOW!!
Etta Sue: I like your Tag too.....very pretty!
Just wondering....Did anyone happen to see the movie: "Flight 93"., on A&E last night? - Very moving.
Judy B: I do hope your car problems get all straightened out. Living in the country, you really can't do without one.
Is your snow all gone? Its so nice to see our grass greening up!
Has anyone heard from TBEAR lately? Have you, Etta Sue? ???
I think I can say that Cornelia had a pretty good day today. She did get sick once after she had eaten a little lunch. She had a c-scan which show some fluid in her lung. She had a procedure this afternoon to remove the fluid. We may go home tomorrow or Saturday. Martha brought me home at 5:00 and she went back around 6:00.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Papa John
Nice devotional, Etta Sue. That cat reminds me of Misty when I had to give her a pill......Love your graphics!
Strangest weather here and more to come. We had a dreadful wind & rain storm Jan.31 and even had loud thunder and lightening. Not the usual thing for the island, even in summer. Some 50,000 homes were without power. We lost it for a short time and the phone was out until morning. Now another bad storm is headed here for the weekend. Double the usual rainfall and counting..... ::)
So wonderful that things are getting better, Papa John. Will continue to pray.
Fay must have been really upset by the break-in attempt. It would certainly scare me. She is very lucky to have you for her friend, Marilyn.
Hope your cold is soon better, Kevin. Will look forward to more pictures. We are having some buds and tulips, etc. starting to make an appearance here and Spring will surely be a welcome sight!
Wendy will be having an MRI in the next week or so. They phoned to check on when it would be best and will book an appointment soon. Nothing is covered by our wonderful Medical Plan....due to the terrible family dr. they have. It all has to be done thro' the lawyer, as he keeps ignoring the specialists. Hope the new gov. can do something to improve the standard of coverage we are experiencing. Will not hold my breath!
Hope you answer the question about the walk, Janet. Have heard the term but not familiar with what it is about. Guess it would be possible to look it up on the Internet...
Took Misty to the vet at 9 A.M. this morning. Her gums are still infected but will just be on the gel for the gums for now. Sure glad that it isn't necessary keep getting the pills down her reluctant throat >:(
Glad that your vehicle problem is on the way to being solved, Judy. Yes, God is good and things always get better.
Pleasant evening all and God Bless.
Liz
I'm so happy to read your post, Gord. Keep us posted on Noreen.
Papa John, great that you've been able to check in. We're still praying for both of you.
Nice to see you too, Judy McKenna.
Yes, Judy, keep your snow! HAHAHA!
I'll be back...
Good evening everyone.
We've had several friends go on "the walk to Emmaus" but they wont tell what it is about. They say "you need to experience it for yourself" Sounds like it would be very interesting, but I am not ready to leave my kids for a whole weekend.
My sister is still hanging on. Thanks for the prayers for her. I've come to terms with her sickness. She is going to Heaven a lot sooner than we thought.
Samantha
Judy: Sarah is graduating fromthe nursing program at the local University. No job lined up yet she has to take the state Borad exams before she can be liscensed in the State of California.

Janet -- I had a friend who did the walk to emmaus and she said it was awesome. It pushes you to the edge of your comfort zone. From what she and others have told me, it is a weekend of intense reflection of your walk/relationship with Christ.
Actually, when I first heard of it was 10 or 12 years ago when I worked at Lake Junaluska, the Southeastern Jurisdiciation assembly grounds of the United Methodist Church. For years, I thought it was a methodist thing. I think it is more interdenominational though.
If you decide to do it, you will probably enjoy it.
Laters all. Almost time for bed for me!
Time to lock the door.
