Morning Devotional...The Holy Spirit:
Holiness and Worship First
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,...that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. --Titus 3:5-7
To teach that the filling with the Holy Spirit is given to the Christian to provide "power for service" is to teach truth, but not the whole truth. Power for service is but one effect of the experience, and I do not hesitate to say that it is the least of several effects. It is least for the very reason that it touches service, presumably service to mankind; and contrary to the popular belief, "to serve this present age" is not the Christian's firstduty nor the chief end of man....
The primary work of the Holy Spirit is to restore the lost soul to intimate fellowship with God through the washing of regeneration.... God wants worshipers before workers; indeed the only acceptable workers are those who have learned the lost art of worship. It is inconceivable that a sovereign and holy God should be so hard up for workers that He would press into service anyone who had been empowered regardless of his moral qualifications. The very stones would praise Him if the need arose and a thousand legions of angels would leap to do His will.
Gifts and power for service the Spirit surely desires to impart; but holiness and spiritual worship come first.
Dr. Tozer in That Incredible Christian, 36-37."Oh, Lord, where has the hunger for holiness gone? We're such active doers; we're so enamored of activity; we're so focused on growth. We desperately need this reminder of the priority of holiness and spiritual worship. Amen."
Thanks for the good Word, Pat. It's bed time. I will preach to our hearing-impaired group in the morning, from Colossians 3:12-14. The title is "What do you wear at home?". It's always a joy teaching this group. They are always so eager for the Word.
Good night all.
In His Grip,
kevin
Hope you have a wonderful sleep, Kevin. Glad you go the pin on the map.

Hey! That's really neat to have a member map and each of our albums showing with our profle photo.
I placed my pin on the map in my profile but it isn't showing on the member map ... how come? :-\ It should be very near Nita's. hmmmm Oh well, I betcha if you really wanted to know where I live you could check my profile. :)
Thanks Pat and Oldiesman for the new toys.
Jane, want to try again? I saw it last night but it was way up north from Nita's beside some huge park.
If you go into your Profile again and click on Coos Bay while zoomed in, you can replace your pin but never go in there again to just look at the map as as soon as you click the map, you'll move your pin. Always, just use the Member Map button above.
That was one of the mistakes I was making when I was first trying.
Sure appreciated that devotional by Mr. Tozer this morning. Many people are looking for the wrong manifestation of the Spirit's work in our day. Holiness and love for Christ and His Word are certainly the foremost evidences for His presence and work.
My pin is still not on the Member Map but it was on there when I put it there. HELP Pat!QuoteThe primary work of the Holy Spirit is to restore the lost soul to intimate fellowship with God through the washing of regeneration
This is the most importat thing the Holy Spirit gives.
TTYL
Thank you Pat for the devotional. It is good clarification.

You are so right Marilyn, God's holiness is such a BIG concept that I have trouble seeing the bigness of it. As hard as we try we can never reach His holiness except for the blood of Christ. Wow! That He knows every thought and motive is so sobering. I really enjoyed the devotional.
We have a snoy day here, temp is -10*C, but the snow is the problwm. It has completely covered one window, (it is a low window in our hall) and is climbing up the door. The poor dog had to jump a snow bank to get out. I have a very painful hip today so no shoveling for me. John is home and will have to tackle it.
The puppies are doing really great. I bough t a kitty litter pan and have litter in it in their kennle and we will see if they get the hint and use it for its intended purpose.
Well Must go. I have to change my profile then got on to other duties.
I've added your pin, Al Moak! I think that the message you're getting has something to do with your computer...maybe the MAC but not sure.

I like this devotional today Pat.
Its snowing and windy here today we are expected to get a total of 50cm altogether.
Looks like I will get no where today. Maybe I'll bake a cake I'm sure my husband will like that ;D
Now I think I will try out the new features here.

I have my pushpin on the MemberMap. That is neat but for us still old fashioned dial systems, it is mighty slow! But I persevered and got it done.
Then my sister called and wanted to know if I wanted to go to Lapel for lunch. Woody's has the best hand-breaded Breaded Tenderloin Sandwiches! I ate it all!
Now I am home to try and get caught up online.
I also found out this morning I need a washer repairman...my washer wouldn't drain. And I am wanting to get my plumber changed so all of it goes to the septic tank....if they ever return my call. Service people.....grrrrrr!
So glad to hear that Cornelia is home but full of sorrow that she is in pain. Prayers are continuing! "++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++""++"

I see your pin, Etta Sue!~
That's great. And Anna over in England has hers on the map. I've just enjoyed this so much!

Pat, I am north (and slightly west) of Nita ... in Coos Bay, and that "big park" is a cemetary! :) My pin is still in place in my profile but how do I get it to show on the Member map?
P.S. My name shows at the bottom of the member map :-\
I see your pin now, Jane. Last night it was way up the coast before a huge State Park and no where near Coos Bay but it's fine now.
Great job! I see it when I zoom in. I see both yours and Nita's.
Kevin, do you use a MAC?
The reason I'm asking is that I thought you said you did and so does Al Moak and he gets an error message when he clicks on the map.
Just wondering what happens for you.
Yes, holiness...when I first became a Christian I thought it was something I had to do or rather NOT do or NOT wear or NOT eat or NOT drink and so on. It was pretty scary until the Holy Spirit showed me that HE does that work in me. I was doing this a lot ;D after that wake-up call.
Thanks again, Pat!
In His Grip,
kevin
Thanks for those words, Kevin...
Nice to see Kathy (Kaycee) now has her pin on the map. This is great!

But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa. Jonah 1:3
Instead of going to Nineveh to preach the Word, as God told him, Jonah
disliked the work and went down to Joppa to escape from it. There are
occasions when God's servants shrink from duty. But what is the
consequence? What did Jonah lose by his conduct? He lost the presence
and comfortable enjoyment of God's love.

Just a quick message to let you all know that we are in Florida and having a great time. I brought my laptop but haven't been able to load the software needed to access the Internet here so have to use Pat's aunt's computer. I have given her a couple of lessons on using e-mail and tomorrow will show her the Internet. She is 87 years old. Today I added wider cursor bars, a magnifier glass and a red curser to help her see better. She is determined to learn and a joy to work with.
We had a good trip and all the cousins are here that are going to be able to attend. I probably won't post again until late Tuesday or Wednesday as there is too much activity.
I haven't read the messages for the last couple of days other than to see that Cornelia was home. So I won't try to make any other comments.
It's good to see the map with pins in it. :)
Jane, that must be you who is a non-gender. 0:-) You're the closest one to me. I had to look at the pin description to see why yours was a different color than mine. Are you trying to be incognito? :)
Yes, the Holy Spirit in us is so that we can truly KNOW God and love Him in Spirit and Truth. Isn't that wonderful? Kevin, I was the same way when I first met Jesus. He poured so much love into me that I kept wanting to do something to be worth His love. It really is humbling to know that there is absolutely nothing you can do, and that you simply are chosen through no merit of your own........only because of His mercy and love. When you think we are created to please Him. And there is nothing we can do to please him...except surrender to that Love. Just thinking of it makes me cry and laugh and cry some more.
I thought I might try to get out today. I've been staying home a lot. The more I stay here the less I want to go out. I haven't taken pictures in a very long time. My camera is ready, batteries all charged, and I just can't get the motivation to leave the house. I did go to buy groceries yesterday. I felt good about that. Have you ever noticed the minute you walk into a store, your money seems to stay there when you leave?
Decisions, decisions. I'll get off here and see what happens. ::)
So good hearing from you, Larry. How long will you be in Florida?

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land
I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land
Refrain
What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land
Refrain
With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land

Kevin, when Jack used to preach, often he'd ask me to sing and one of the hymns that he asked me to sing a lot was the following one.
Your post above reminded me of this:

Not what these hands have done (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/notwhatthesehandshavedone.mpga)
(Click to hear music)
Not what these hands have done
Can save this guilty soul;
Not what this toiling flesh has borne
Can make my spirit whole.
Chorus:
Thy work alone, my Saviour,
Can ease this weight of sin;
Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God,
Can give me peace within.
Not what I feel or do
Can give me peace with God;
Nor all my prayers, or sighs, or tears
Can bear my awful load.
Thy love to me, O God,
Not mine, O Lord, to Thee,
Can rid me of this dark unrest,
And set my spirit free.
No other work save Thine,
No meaner blood will do,
No strength, save that which is Divine,
Can bear me safely through.
I praise the God of grace,
I trust His love and might;
He calls me His, I call Him mine,
My God, My joy, my light.

I finally got on the map but I must be behind AL, my pin doesnt' show up but when you click on my name there I am. AHA.
Sounds like everyone is having a lot of fun finding where they live on the map and putting a pin there.
I have been reading more Tributes to Anthony Burger. He was loved by many people. God bless
Love Ruthie
Welcome Ritz
Hi Ruthie!
We've had two new members today!
I see your pin, Marilyn! Great job! When you zoom in, you and Al are a bit apart.
I hope you've all seen today's verse from the left sidebar...
Today's Verse
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Matthew 22:37-39
Lots of excitement in here today! I will check out the map tomorrow.
We have had snow again today. Really cold for sunny BC. This is the second snowfall in a few days. Do believe our early spring messed up things and we have skipped right over summer & fall and into winter again :'(
Still have a virus, tho' somewhat better and busy doing housework today. With one eye on the Olympics. Nice day to be inside. Misty agrees, she has been busy sleeping most of the afternoon. That cat does not like snow!
Nothing of interest to relate, so here is a small smile. Not certain if folks care for these....feel free to object, if anyone reads my posts.
Little Old Lady
There was a little old lady, who every morning. stepped onto
her front porch, raised her arms to the sky, and shouted:
"PRAISE THE LORD!"
One day an atheist moved into the house next door. He
became irritated at the little old lady. Everymorning he'd
step onto his front porch after her and yell:
"THERE IS NO LORD!"
Time passed with the two of them carrying on this way
every day. One morning, in the middle of winter, the little
old lady stepped onto her front porch and shouted:
"PRAISE THE LORD! Please Lord, I have no food and I
am starving, provide for me, oh Lord!
The next morning she stepped onto her porch and
there were two huge bags of groceries sitting there.
"PRAISE THE LORD!" she cried out. "HE HAS PROVIDED
GROCERIES FOR ME!"
The atheist neighbor jumped out of the hedges and shouted:
"THERE IS NO LORD. I BOUGHT THOSE GROCERIES!!"
The little old lady threw her arms into the air and shouted:
"PRAISE THE LORD! HE HAS PROVIDED ME WITH
GROCERIES AND MADE THE DEVIL PAY FOR THEM!
;)
Time to go. Pleasant Evening all and God Bless.
Liz

 Thank you all for the warm welcome... I finally got some of my photos small enough to fit on the site. Wow, I had no idea how hard it would be. Next time it'll be a piece O' cake. ;D Peace, Ritz.
Glad to see you have your gallery started, Ritz! I've put one of your images on our Newsline.
I so hope that everyone is clicking on the photos on the Newsline above and commenting at our members' photos.
You can also get to a member's gallery now by clicking on the Album button that shows by their name to the left.
Just another reminder for those of you wishing to put your pin on our new member map...
HERE ARE THE DIRECTIONS (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=5213.0).
I now see Jeanne Lee's pin on our Member Map!
Great job you guys!
What a time I had! Of course, the instructions arrived here just after I accomplished the feat. Problem was I kept forgetting to click on "change profile" so it didn't take. Anyway, now you all know where I live. ;)
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Good going, Jeanne!
I may get the proverbial bonk on the head, but wanted to let you know we are back home! We had a wonderful mini-vacation in the gorgeous Colorado Rockies, very relaxing and refreshing. And Beth fared well, with help from a few friends, while we were away.
New things going on here on CP, huh? I will check those out tomorrow. I want to get to bed and get a good rest before church tomorrow.
Pat, I hope you are all better by now!
Time to lock the door.
It's been a good day and nice to see Janet home.
Now I hope that you all continue in tomorrow's topic, HERE (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=5218.0).
