Morning Devotional...

"So the scribe said to Him, 'Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He.  And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.'  Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.'" Mark 12:32-34

The scribe was "not far from the Kingdom of God," because he believed from the heart the greatness of God, the necessity of loving Him, and the necessity of loving one another.  I daresay that there may be many, many people in the churches of our own day who meet these criteria: they feel that God is an awesome God, that He should be obeyed and worshipped (loved) and that they should love other members of their society.

Mind you, though, that such people are not in the Kingdom of God, but only near it.  It's a good start, but it's an eternally poor finish!  The difference is Jesus Christ the Lord.  Have you told Him that you're impoverished, lost, and undone?  Have you called upon Him to save you lest you perish?  Are you still coming to Him?  He said, "the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out."

I Hear the Words of Love
(Click to hear music)

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,
by him to reconcile all things unto himself;
by him, I say, whether they be things
in earth, or things in heaven.
Colossians 1:20

Author:  Horatius Bonar, 1808-1889
Musician:  French-Genevan Psalter, 1551
Adapt. William Crotch, 1775-1847

I hear the words of love,
I gaze upon the blood,
I see the mighty sacrifice,
And I have peace with God.

'Tis everlasting peace,
Sure as Jehovah's name;
'Tis stable as His steadfast throne,
Forevermore the same.

The clouds may come and go,
And storms may sweep my sky
This blood-sealed friendship changes not:
The cross is ever nigh.

My love is ofttimes low,
My joy still ebbs and flows;
But peace with Him remains the same
No change Jehovah knows.

I change, He changes not,
The Christ can never die;
His love, not mine, the resting-place,
His truth, not mine, the tie.

Good morning - it's very early, but they're predicting snow flurries this afternoon so I'm headed in to work so I can leave early.

Here in Nashville, many times when flurries are predicted we find more like 4-6 inches!

And I've promised 2 of my doctors that I will not be driving in bad weather conditions for strictly medical reasons.

Y'all have a good day.

Thanks Matt for letting us know the results of the comp!

Congratulations Design Trade!  Great job!

It's a lovely sunny day here today but I've heard that we're probably going to get the biggest snow storm of the winter!   :o

Thanks so much, Al, for the devotional today.  Sure meant a lot to me this morning.  Thanks again.

Hi to you, Ruth Ann.  I've heard that this storm we're getting might be the same one you have spoken about.

I'm sitting here listening to the hymn above.  What wonderful words.

Have a good day, everyone.

Thanks for your comments on the devotional/hymn, Pat.  That hymn is my absolute favorite of all time.  It expresses the Gospel in the simplest, most powerful terms possible.  If I have a funeral one day, then I would like that hymn sung or read.  Those words are my words.

Marilyn

Good Morning. Thank you Al for the devotional this morning and the song.

Last night when  pulled into the parking lot at church my car died. The Alternator finally gave out. The Brothers got the car started after prayer meeting. I could not turn the lights on as that is what killed the alternator so one of the brothers was leading me home when it quit again in front of the Vets office. I called AAA and it took them two hours to get there. The brother was kind to stay with me until  we left int he tow truck. They towed me home and two of the brothers are coming over today to replace the alternator. So I am unable to got to work until the car is fixed. I will be calling  the mechanic to cancel the order for a new alternator and the appointment for Saturday. As far as I can tell this will do it on the repairs for the new car.

Have a great day and  will be back later.

Well, Al, I still have it playing here.  Yes, the words are wonderful!

I also see that you've joined Photography Cafe.  You'll enjoy the photos there.  There are some wonderful captures.

Since I just started this post, the telephone rang.

"Hello, Mrs. Scott?"

"Yes"

"We'd like to let you know that the entry form that John Scott filled in last Friday has won and you both can go to Florida on an all expense paid trip.."

I just asked them to remove me from their list.

Wow!

Ohhh, Marilyn..  I'm so sorry.  What a terrible thing to happen.  You are having difficulties with your car.  I'm sorry about that.

Keep us posted.

Good morning!

Larry, it is really good to know you are safely home!

Marilyn, sorry about the alternator.  I had that happen once with my car, years ago.  Bummer.

Ruth Ann, I'm glad to hear you won't be driving in bad weather!  And you certainly deserve a coup[le of days off, too.

Pat, I hope you don't get another big snowstorm.  We could use more snow, as we are always short of moisture in our area.

Judy, you asked how far we are from Wichita---200 miles.  Hope you are feeling better, too.

Don't you hate all those "million dollar winner" calls and mailings?  Phooey!  We are on the national no call list, so don't get the calls, but still get plenty of the letters--almost always from Florida.

Judy I'm sorry forgot to answer your question about Laguna Niguel. That is in Southern California about 750 mile south of where I live.

Pat actually the alternator going out is not really a big deal, it happens. It discharges the battery and everything dies. ot a good feeling but I was in God's hand and he took, care of everything for me. Now I am getting the car fixed for the cost of an alternator without the cost of an auto mechanic. God sure knows how to work things out for the best.

So I am hanging out at home for the time being and I am keeping in touch with fay to make sure she is doing alright witout me for the day. This ids the last day of themonth and she needs to sign my time sheet, but it's ok if I have to wait until tomorrow. I amy use this afternoon to go to DMV to give them my smog certificate and pick up my tags.

The Holy Spirit: A Bottle in the Ocean

..To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be
filled with all the fullness of God.
--Ephesians 3:19

Pentecost means that the Deity came to mankind to give Himself to
man, that man might breathe Him in as he breathes in the air, that He
might fill men. Dr. A. B. Simpson used an illustration which was about
as good as any I ever heard. He said, "Being filled with the fullness
of God is like a bottle in the ocean. You take the cork out of the
bottle and sink it in the ocean, and you have the bottle completely
full of ocean. The bottle is in the ocean, and the ocean is in the
bottle. The ocean contains the bottle, but the bottle contains only
a little bit of the ocean. So it is with the Christian."

We are filled unto the fullness of God, but, of course, we cannot
contain all of God because God contains us; but we can have all of
God that we can contain. If we only knew it, we could enlarge our
vessel. The vessel gets bigger as we go on with God.  The Counselor,
68.

"Enlarge my vessel, Lord, and fill me with more and more of the
fullness of God. Amen."

My car is all fixed and running good. The Alternator cost me a whopping $92.59 and that's all. It could have een more. Praise the Lord. No labor costs.

I have been to Eureka to the chiropractor and to Fay's for her supper. Now I am watching the news.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We have had a very busy day.  I went to coffee but had to leave early so we could stop at our local hospital to check on our good friend who was having a heart cath this morning.  When we got there he was coming out and they were getting ready to transfer him to the bigger city hospital to do another test and likely put in a stent.  His wife is one of my wife's best friends and we all attend the same Sunday School class.

We then left to go over to the city so Pat could see the surgeon.  He was only 15 minutes late but wants to see the MRI's and CT scan results and probably order another MRI before deciding on what to do for her.  He may biopsy the site as well before operating.  He said this was one of the largest tumors of this type he has ever seen and would probably do the operation in the hospital rather than as an outpatient.  She has another MRI scheduled for March 10th unless he tells her he doesn't need it after he sees the tests she has already done.  So we will wait awhile longer.  She is using a cane to help her get around most of the time.

We then left there and went to the hospital where our friend had been transferred, which was close to where we had gone.  We stayed with his wife and daughter until several other family members arrived and then came home.  Shortly after we got home we had a call saying he was out of the cath lab and they had put in a stent.  He should be able to come home tomorrow.

Beth, good to see you posting and hope you hear from John today.  Glad to hear that John's mother is doing well and is out of ICU.

Ruth Ann, hope you didn't get much snow today.  It was cold and damp here all day long.

Marilyn, know you are glad to have the alternator fixed and it sounds like things are working out well and that the breakdown last evening saved you a significant number of dollars.

Janie, congratulations on your winning entry.  I also want to extend a belated welcome to CP but know you are becoming acquainted here already.  I was out-out of town for several days and had very limited time on the computer.

Al, thanks for the devotional.  Hi to all posting today.

Janet

Larry, what kind of tumor does Pat have?  I'm so sorry to hear she is having this trouble, and hope she gets relief soon.  Sorry about your friend, too, but now his procedure is over and the healing can begin.  I think the hardest thing about those things is the lying flat for so long afterward.  I'm not sure I could do that without being knocked out!

I am ready to go to bed, just trying to wait a bit longer before locking the door on today and opening the one for tomorrow.  But I'm fading fast!  :)
