Morning Devotional...

MOSES ISN'T SURE
Exodus 4:1-17 NIV

Moses answered, "What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, 'The LORD did not appear to you'?"

Then the LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?"

"A staff," he replied.

The LORD said, "Throw it on the ground."   Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it.

Then the LORD said to him, "Reach out your hand and take it by the tail." So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand.

"This," said the LORD , "is so that they may believe that the LORD , the God of their fathers-the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob-has appeared to you."

Then the LORD said, "Put your hand inside your cloak." So Moses put his hand into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was leprous, like snow.  "Now put it back into your cloak," he said. So Moses put his hand back into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was restored, like the rest of his flesh.

Then the LORD said, "If they do not believe you or pay attention to the first miraculous sign, they may believe the second.  But if they do not believe these two signs or listen to you, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the river will become blood on the ground."

Moses said to the LORD , "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue."

The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ?  Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."

But Moses said, "O Lord, please send someone else to do it."

Then the LORD's anger burned against Moses and he said, "What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees you.  You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do.  He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him.  But take this staff in your hand so you can perform miraculous signs with it."

Moses pleaded with God to let him out of his mission.  After all, he was not a good speaker and would probably embarrass both himself and God.

But God looked at Moses' problem quite differently.

All Moses needed was some help, and who better than God could help him say and do the right things.  God made his mouth and would give him the words to say.

It is easy for us to focus on our weaknesses.  But if God asks us to do something, he will help us get the job done.  He will provide words, strength, courage, and ability where needed.

Larry ~ The cross I used yesterday wasn't made by me...I snagged it from an email.  I really don't know what to tell you about using it.  It doesn't have a copyright on it....so....

Judy Mc ~ I know exactly how you feel.  But I think the silence means we are just too busy to comment and reply back to what people has posted.

Jane ~ I know exactly how you feel.  Sometimes I feel why take the effort to post and make animations.  No one comments.  But Mom always said 'Silence is golden'.  But it does boost our moral if someone comments or replies.

Well, there is a comment/reply to three of you....oh, yes.  Karma...it won't be long now.  So rest up and gain your strength.  You will be pushing before you know it.  My great-niece had a little boy this morning....he was due Jan 28... :-\

Long day today so I am going to bed!!!  Good night, folks!  See ya in the mornin'.

Good Morning  Ms. Etta Sue!

How do you "snag"  those animations?  When I try to, they are not animated anymore.

Hope everyone has a great day today.

Got to get started with school or the kids will still be doing schoolwork during summer break!

Later,

So, apparently the yahoo messages were coming to my old email address.  (Not a problem, we do check it sometimes), so I had the bright idea of changing it.  Now, I don't get it either place.  :(  Sorry if I spammed everyone with my test message.  I don't know if it got sent or not, as I never received it.   Gotta love technology.

Cold, rainy and icy (it takes turns) here this morning.  I needed to go out htis afternoon, but why do today what I can do tomorrow!!! :)  Seriously, the weather is supposed to be much improved tomorrow, so I guess it is more of a case of why do in danger today, when I can do safely tomorrow.

I hope wherever you are and whatever you are doing, it is a good and Jesus-filled time!!

Hello, everyone :)  Etta, I enjoy your graphics, so keep it up.

Sorry to have not been around!  My life is, still, quite a zoo.  Just ask Karma, and it's gonna get wilder.

I've bought a "new" camera though, so I should have some pics to share with the world before long.

I hope you all have a great day!

Good morning ...

Janet, Fast Eddie, Etta Sue ... It's okay!  I've come to accept this and mostly just read here in NEM.  Except for the times when I have something "important" to say and then it seems to go right on by.  I posted in here some time ago about Nita's computer problems and that she would be having surgery <she asked me to> and nothing was said.   BUT ... She came in briefly one evening and immediately she was responded to!!  I laughed, because this has been the case for a long time, and not only here at CP.  That's when she asked me if I was invisible.  It's not a problem for me.  I just play the games and look at the photos and leave the conversation corner to others.

Thanks, Jane

Well, do I sense a problem that some folks are feeling a bit left out?  If so, I apologize.

Right now, I'm in the midst of moving my computer room to the basement and the bed down there up to this room but it's going to take several weeks I'm afraid.  Yesterday I got a desk moved and a filing cabinet and some other stuff but will have to wait for help with this big desk.  I'm having to go through old boxes of things too that are bringing back many memories as I do it so then I go and try to settle down and start feeling better.

Right now, I have lovely music "The Lord's Prayer" playing in the background as I type this.  Thanks Etta Sue for that and of course we all enjoy your graphics.  I've seen that others enjoy them as well so please don't stop making them.  I just sit and am amazed at the work that goes into these and I enjoy them EVERY DAY!

Karma, I got your test message.  Do you have the place ticked in your Preferences on Yahoo to get individual emails?

Hi Nards!

Jane, you sure don't appear "invisible" to me.

I think a problem too is that when someone comes and asks a question or posts a comment and then doesn't come back for several days, they miss the fact that what they posted was even commented on.  I've had numerous PMs from folks about this and I've searched and found that yes, indeed that was commented on and I've been able to share the link with them.

TBear, it's a bright sunny day here today.  And this morning when I first got up, it was so nice with the frozen fog (note Janet it's FOG and not FOX!!!  HAHAHA) on the tree limbs.  That's all gone now though.

Samantha, when you save the graphic, it has to be saved as a GIF and whatever program you might be using might not show the animation.  You might have to upload it to webspace to view the animation.  With PSP, we can view it in the animation program.

Yes, Etta Sue, CP was down.  I'll be glad when they get this move done.  They will be working for the whole month of February on it.

Yes, Jerry, I like your photo too!  Nice one.  And yes, Etta Sue DOES do some wonderful graphics work.

Fast Eddie, sorry if you feel left out sometimes as well.  I'm sure it's not intentional.  But hopefully, I'll try to do better. ;D

Well, I guess I better get back to my boxes.  And I have a few errands to go and do as well.

Talk to you all later.

Maybe drop some of our members a PM telling them you miss them (if you do).  There are some who haven't been on lately that might need a bit of a "pick-me-up" from some of us.

HI!!  I'm not sure what is happening with the yahoo thing, pat.  Bernard understands it, i think.  Basically, I deleted one address from yahoo (the old one) and put in a new one.  Then, I tried to send a message to the yahoo group using the old one, thinking it would send it to the new one, but since that address wasn't registered, it bounced.  Nards got it, I think.  Anyway.  If another one goes out (from someone other than myself) I should get it.  Possibly, maybe, potentially, anyway.

Jane -- I'm not ignoring you, promise.  Most of the time I'm in such a hurry, I don't even think to respond to everyone.  My bad.  I used to think I was a "thread killer" at dpchallenge.  It seems like I was the last one to post to any thread.  I think it is just of those odd phenononononomens of the Internet.

Yep, nards life is a zoo.  It's quite neat watching it, and I didn't have to pay an admission fee!  not.  He started a "new" job, in a "new" building but with the same company he was with, sortof.  Think "merger" I guess is the best way to describe it.  Anyway, things are sorta the same and a lot different.  And if that is as clear as mud, then you know why we are describing it as a zoo.

Hey, Judy, looks like you hit a "nerve"

I feel that way, too, but then I realize the good LORD
has so much stuff going on in other peoples lives that
posting to "little old me" is put on the back burner.

Seriously, HE made us each individual and sometimes I know
for myself ; I just can't post.

Not here that much and sometimes just can't find the words
when so many are expressing themselves so nicely so I
just "reap the benefits" and listen to them.
Janie,...
How is Nita doing ??? I remember my surgery when she mentioned
hers.  Didn't see your post about Nita 'cause I just don't go back
and read when I'm not here.

Too many postings; so little time...

Bet that happens to a lot of us.

YOU are all important and your postings do help so many..

By the way, how is your studying going along --I remember you
were going to start studying ministry work , right???

Take care and as always,

Love in Christ,

Joyce

Hello, all you nice people!  I have had a busy morning, and the afternoon is shaping up to be the same, as well as a dinner invitation this evening.

Beth is still having a lot of pain in her wound site, but I went and checked it, and it appears to be healing nicely.  But that kind of trauma is bound to cause some pain.

It's an absolutely lovely day here in Kansas today, and the snow is all gone except on the north side of things where it is shady.  The sunshine makes me feel happy!

Etta Sue, I enjoy your graphics, however, I guess something got changed on my computer, and nothing is animated any more!  :-\ :(  But at least I can get online.  Have to be grateful for what I do have!

Hi, Jane!  How you doing, girl?  Thanks so much for the ecard you sent me.  I appreciate your thinking of me.

Hello, Joyce.  How are things way out there where you live?  That crash was really something and I'm so thankful people weren't killed in it--it could have been so much worse.

Hey Nita, how are you feeling?  I do hope you're regaining your strength.  I know it does take a while, though.  I haven't had that surgery, but any surgery sort of takes the starch out of your backbone for a bit.  ((hugs))

Pat, do be careful and don't be lifting/carrying too heavy loads.  Boy, I sure do need to be moving stuff and getting rid of stuff.  Last week showed me that we need to stop procrastinating on doing things like making our will, etc.  Sigh..........

Gotta run, my painting class people will be arriving very soon.  We have a dinner to attend tonight, but I'll try to check back in.

Hey, Larry!  How is your day going?

Received this email

National Wear Red Day

Tomorrow, February 4, is National Wear Red Day, an observance aimed to raise awareness about heart disease, the number one killer of American women. On this day, you can show your support for women's health by wearing a piece of red clothing, a red ribbon, or another red item.

One in three American women will die of heart disease. Risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hormone replacement therapy, and physical inactivity.

In addition to supporting heart health education, you can encourage the women in your life to lower their risk of heart disease by eating better, exercising more, and scheduling regular visits to the doctor.

Thinking of heading out for lunch; if I can drag myself back to work ,I will talk later.

Praise the Lord the ones involved in crash are improving.

Funny things about seat belts--they are there in case of crash but the ones in the
car that was hit by the plane created a problem.

They wanted to duck when they saw the plane and they did just in time as the
wing sheared off the top of the car.

The seat belts prevented them from ducking further down into their seats
so they were injured.....They had no time to unhook --good Lord made them
look up in time to duck down as far as they could.

A young man working in the warehouse that was hit was running out; especially
when he saw all the fuel (he expected it to blow) but he heard the flight
attendant calling for help and he just had to go back; helped her and others
to safety.
His remarks when everyone was calling him a hero;

ANYONE would have done the same thing and just smiled and walked away.

Take care and as always,

Love in Christ,

Joyce

February 3

The Holy Spirit: Sending Something Better

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you
into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but
whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to
come.
--John 16:13

Our trouble is that we are trying to confirm the truth of
Christianity by an appeal to external evidence. We are saying,
"Well, look at this fellow. He can throw a baseball farther than
anybody else and he is a Christian, therefore Christianity must
be true." "Here is a great statesman who believes the Bible.
Therefore, the Bible must be true." We quote Daniel Webster, or
Roger Bacon. We write books to show that some scientist believed
in Christianity: therefore, Christianity must be true. We are all
the way out on the wrong track, brother! That is not New Testament
Christianity at all. That is a pitiful, whimpering, drooling
appeal to the flesh. That never was the testimony of the New
Testament, never the way God did things--never! You might satisfy
the intellects of men by external evidences, and Christ did, I
say, point to external evidence when He was here on the earth. But
He said, "I am sending you something better. I am taking Christian
apologetics out of the realm of logic and putting it into the
realm of life. I am proving My deity, and My proof will not be an
appeal to a general or a prime minister. The proof lies in an
invisible, unseen but powerful energy that visits the human soul
when the gospel is preached--the Holy Ghost!"  How to Be Filled
With the Spirit, 29-30.

"Lord, open our ears that we might hear when the Holy Spirit
speaks. Amen."

Jesus, Your Blood and Righteousness (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/germany.mp3)
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Nicolaus L. von Zinzendorf, 1700-1760
Trans. By John Wesley, 1703-1791
Musician:  William Gardiner's Sacred Melodies, 1815

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God;
for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation,
he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom
decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Isaiah 61:10

Jesus, your blood and righteousness
My beauty are, my glorious dress;
Mid flaming worlds, in these arrayed,
With joy shall I lift up my head.

Bold shall I stand in that great day,
Cleansed and redeemed, no debt to pay;
For by your cross absolved I am
From sin and guilt, from fear and shame.

Lord, I believe your precious blood,
Which at the mercy seat of God
Pleads for the captives’ liberty,
Was also shed in love for me.

Lord, I believe, were sinners more
Than sands upon the ocean shore,
You have for all a ransom paid,
For all a full atonement made.

When from the dust of death I rise
To claim my mansion in the skies,
This then shall be my only plea:
Christ Jesus lived and died for me.

Then shall I praise you and adore
Your blessed name forevermore,
Who once, for me and all you made,
An everlasting ransom paid.

Memories are really great....reading things that cause us to remember are sometimes sad....but readin them helps to heal the empty spot left by their departure....I just finished re-reading my brothers obit and autopsy. SAD

Then I looked at a picture of me from 1968.  My wife said, You were really a looker back then."  I said I still am........only a fat looker now.  So memories cause a lot of different feelings. HAPPY'

Fast Eddie, sorry if you feel left out sometimes as well.

That's trouble with postings...they do not reflect the real feelings w/o facial expressions or little snickers or voice inflection.

I did not mean to sound like I felt left-out.  I was just coming clean with my innner feelings about my writing/posting in general.  Sometimes I open myself up a little too much and people don't know how to take me...especially in the Internet.

Howdy folks. I can't stay long to visit, I have some phone calls to make and going to go look at a small duplex at 2:30. I am not sure if this is the place for me it depends on what I find out when I get there. I noticed that the back fence is not in very good repair and that is a must for me, it has to be a sturdy fence. The place is on a busy street a few blocks from where I am now.

Sorry I haven;'t been here much lately been doing a lot of PSP work and orther stuff. .Have also started doing my bible reading morning and evening so not a lot of time for the computer.

You are all correct, we do take each other for granted, we read each others letters on here, then just pass on to the next one, it's not that we don't love and value each other in Jesus, it's just the way we become after the novelty of making new friends wears off, familiarity breeds contempt in a way, and I am as guilty as any, sorry.

Gilbert and Sullivan.  I knew it was a "duo."  They're names just escaped me at the moment.

Chris, after Pat told me "no" (and didn't tell me whom, <cough, cough>) :), I was going to google.  I typed that question originally just as "I am the very model of a modern major general" was playing on Travis's Veggie Tale CD, and then promptly forgot it again.

So, now, we have all learned something.

Marilyn -- The fence can be fixed!  If it is somewhere that will allow you your dogs and is affordable, I'm sure the landlord or someone will fix the fence for you (I would volunteer Bernard, but that would be a bit of a drive for us!!!)

Funny how this works.  Pat~I come here every morning ... and then back again, sometimes several times, during the day.  I just commented to Judy's post last night and figured that would be it.  Then Fast Eddie caught it and a-w-a-a-a-y we went!  I didn't mean for anyone to feel "guilty" or that I was offended ... NOT!!

Joyce

Nita's surgery was a little over two weeks ago and I visited with her last Wednesday.  She is doing very well (as long as she remembers the doctor's orders).

As for my "studys" .. I completed them and received my certification with Liberty Savard Ministries, Inc.  I am now teaching a class on Wednesday afternoons and we are really having a wonderful time in the Lord.  These people are eagerly learning, and even were asking when I was going to start the class!  This is a big change, since just a year ago they had much animosity and harsh words to say to and about me!  God is, and has always been, in control!

Hi Janet!  I always read the posts here ... that's how Nita knew about Beth and her surgery.  I love y'all a whole big ol' bunch!

KARMA~I never suspect you -- or anyone else -- of ignoring me.  I know how busy your lives can become and I for sure know how it is to be a very pregnant mother of a toddler!  You just take it easy and have a happy, safe, healthy delivery, okay?

Gotta go .... my favorite TV program is on.    ::)

Hi everyone.  It is another chilly day here in Georgia but we finally are seeing the sun this afternoon and the weekend is suppose to be better.  I have had a busy day.  I had to make a PowerPoint presentation to our Learning Center Board involving our PC User Group.  My friend, Rod, also participate d in the presentation.  It was a successfull effort and the Board approved all of the requests and recommendations we made.

We had to leave the meeting early in order to get to the church as this was Calvin Cove day.  Rod went as my guest and met the director and participated in the singing.

When I got home I had to complete some papers for the User Group so we could become members of the national organization.

We had a phone call from my wife's sister this afternoon saying her ex-husband of 17 years was in critical condition after collapsing last evening and being diagnosed with pneumococcus meningitis.  He is very seriously ill and given only a 50-50 change of survival.  His two daughters were arriving this afternoon from California and Kansas to be with him.  His name is Don so please remember him in your prayers today as he needs them.

I have been interested in the comments today regarding posting and responses received.  The ideal would be for us each to comment on all of the other posters since the last time we posted.  Of course, this is basically an impossibility as it takes time to write the posts, review the previous postings, and quite frankly sometimes there isn't much to comment about everyday to everyone.

I find that often I just don't feel I can devote the hour or so to write a posting that would attempt to address everyone who has posted.  Therefore, I try to be inclusive in my greeting hoping that folks will feel the inclusiveness of my greeting even if I don't address a specific comment to the individual.  Over time I try to be sure to comment to everyone.  I would never want to offend anyone because they felt I was ignoring them since I read every message here in NEM (not all of the various discussion again related to the time required).

I strongly believe that we all share this same concern.  I believe on any message board, and especially on this Christian Photography site, we must realize that the lack of a mention isn't a slight but may be a matter of the time to post, having nothing particularly responsive to say to the poster, or feeling the need to comment to something specific in some of the postings and then running out of time or having a message become too long.

Having written the above I seem to have run out of time again so won't make any individual comments this evening.  I hope everyone has a good evening.

Went to see the house, it is smaller than this trailer in am in and my trailer looks a lot beeter than the house. The storage shed where the washer and dryer hookup are has a dirt floor and hasn't been cleaned in ages. The house is WAAAAAY too small. For $650. I can do better. If it was the place God had for me Well hHe knows my needs better than I do. and knows my budget. He will provide.

Hey Jane feel like going a few more rounds in the games. I've got about 30 minutes to fool around.

Yep!  Thought it was our quiz of the day!  HAHAHA!

I could have told you the answer but thought that would be cruel of me to do so so quickly before others had a chance.  This is so funny!

Pat sure did!  Our school put on a Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta every year which I participated in either in the band or in a singing part and the last one was the "Pirates of Penzance" as Mabel!  LOL

Well, I s'pose I've been tromping on a bunch of folks' feelings, because rarely do I respond to individual messages.

Usually, I'm in a hurry to try to get "one more thing" done before leaving for work, or whatever task is at hand.

My apologies.

I love all here and really appreciate y'all.

I love every one of you!  And I am hereby and officially responding - right now - to every one.  There!  Jerry, if you will just keep on having nothing to say, you'll fill the board here.

Jane - how did that IRS thing ever come out?  Did they finally let go of you?

Hi Etta Sue:

The devotional was very good about Moses.  A while ago a Filipinno group came to the church and sang a song that talked exactly about Moses and the rod and the snake.  It was good.  The whole point of the song was if we take our "rods" or "supports" and throw them down and let God be our support, he will do some amazing things in our life.

Hi Pat, are you doing that big job of moving furniture all be yourself?  Be careful.

Tomorrow I have to go to the specialist about my eye.  He will do a test and tell me when I can have my cataract out.  This test cost $200 and is not covered by OHIP.

I'm going now to read some more posts.   God bless.

Love Ruthie

We had a wonderful dinner at the church, as guests of the board.  They invited all who had expressed an interest in becoming members, and there were quite a few people there!  Praise God, it is unusual for a church to grow in spite of not having a pastor.  I feel He has good things in store for us in this church.

I will be away all day tomorrow, so if you miss me, just say "God, please bless and protect Janet and Darrel!"  We will be home again in the evening, and I have three people who will be calling and coming to check on Beth.  Christian friends are priceless!

See you all another day!

Here's a smile for you this evening...........

While in the checkout line at my local hardware store I overheard one man say to another, "My wife has been after me to paint our shed. But I let it go for so long she got mad and did it herself." His friend nodded. "I like women who get mad like that."
