Morning Devotional...

I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
John 16:28

Eternity to eternity in twenty-two words!

Our Saviour was without beginning and is without end.

The One who was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger was the Son of God who came forth from the Father. He lived a perfect life and died the death of the cross.

But praise and thank God, that was not the end. He rose again and left the world and went to the Father. He lives in the power of an endless life.

One day He is coming for us to be with Him for eternity. It could be today!
--John M. Clegg

J. Condor (1789-1855)

Thou art the Everlasting Word,
The Father's only Son,
God manifestly seen and heard,
The heaven's beloved One;

Chorus:
Worthy, O Lamb of God, art Thou,
That every knee to Thee should bow!

In Thee, most perfectly expressed
The Father's glories shine:
O the full Deity possessed,
Eternally divine!

Chorus:

True image of the Infinite,
Whose essence is concealed;
Brightness of uncreated light,
The heart of God revealed.

Chorus:

But the high myst'ries of His Name
An angel's grasp transcend;
The Father only (glorious claim!)
The Son can comprehend.

Chorus:

Yet loving, Thee, on whom His love
Ineffable doth rest,
Thy members all, in Thee, above,
As one with Thee are blest!

Chorus:

Throughout the universe of bliss,
The centre Thou, and Sun,
Th'eternal theme of praise is this,
To heaven's beloved One.

Chorus:

Hi everyone!

After a very emotional day at work, (3 dismissals, 1 of which was an employee with 25 yrs of service behind her) I have finally calmed down enough to go to bed.

Thank you Pat for CP, for reading here is what has calmed me down! :-*

And now, just a couple of comments from the past couple of days.

Ria, here too, one must have a license to drive fork-lift trucks.  I'm not sure if it is a law or not but very few companies will hire one without the necessary documentation to show that you can drive the truck they have.  The training department where I work is always busy!

Janice, thank you for your poem.  It really provides some food for thought.

Lee, where are you?  I hope you are well!

U.K. 9 a.m.

Beautiful morning here.  Sun is shining and it's nice and crisp.  So light. Thank God for His kindness!

Lovely Devotional this morning Pat and I love that Hymn too. Thank you dear sister.

Sue Hello.  I am so sorry things are difficult for you at work.  This doesn't help your condition at all.  It must be a worry.  You don't know who will be dismissed next.."Man proposes, God disposes". He is in control of your life.  You are His child.......

"Behold I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried and chosen you in  the furnace of affliction." Is 48:10

Hello to Suzanne and Judy B.

Keep looking forward and upward folks...

Oh what a foretaste of glory divine"

Every Blessing.

Hello folks!
How is your day going?

Sorry I didn't have time to stop in and say good night.  I did come in and read a few post but I had to run again.

I have been up since 3:30am.  Yikes...I will be feeling it later today.

Zachery has another remicade infussion today at 10:00am.  Would you please keep him in your prayers.  He could have a reaction to it, but more and likely not.  Thanks!

Ashley, my neice goes in today to get some test done and will be put to sleep for about an hour so please keep her in your prayers too.  Thank you.

I took some photos yesterday and got them up for print already.  I have been busy on this computer.
I will post some of them later today.

By Christ therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is,  the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Great to read your posts.  Now I must hurry and get ready to leave for London.  My appointment is for the whole afternoon so I still have time to shower and tidy up a bit here before I leave.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
Praise Him all creatures here below!
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host!
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
Amen.
The tune to which this wonderful old hymn is sung is called "Old Hundredth," and was so designated because Psalm 100 was sung to it as far back as Henry VIII.  It actually goes back even further, probably to the time of John Calvin in Geneva.  But it was used in Scotland throughout the Reformation and is one of the tunes and sets of words in the old Scottish Psalter with the divided pages.  Thank God for the Reformation in England/Scotland, because we in America today are largely dependent upon it for our beginnings.  So - PRAISE GOD!

QuoteIt could be today!
--John M. Clegg

This is something I say to myself each morning when I wake up.  Jesus is coming back.  "It could be today."  But regardless of WHEN the savior returns the important thing is that we be ready every day.

2 Pet 3:9-11  The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, [/b] (NKJ)

Pat, thanks for the devotional this morning.  Good to see each one of you.  I hope you all have a good day today.  We have rain today with already 2 inches falling and it looks like it make keep up all day.

Al

Thanks Pastor.  Some good things come out of England. The Scottish links to our Royal Family perhaps....gosh a long and painful history!

I am Celtic anyway, through my mother's Welsh line.

Papa John Hello Again.  I am glad to see you today.  I usually just miss you.
I try to be "ready" and pray that the Lord will make up that which is missing.  He is gracious and Merciful.

Good day to all of you!  It is still very cold here, and everything has a thin coating of ice, but still none of the promised snow. :(  Darrel is getting cabin fever from being shut in, so I gave him a big hug and a smile and asked him if he will run the vacuum for me today.  He is agreeable to taht!  I have been really busy with my own work (framing, etc.) and we usually help each other.

Ria, glad to hear that your hubby will be doing the cooking through the week!!  That's great!  And you will likely have some different things to eat, too!  I think most of us get tired of trying to think of "something different" to cook, and having a new cook will be a nice change for all of you.

Sue, your yesterday sounds very stressful, hope today is much better.

Pat, please drive carefully today.  I pray they have all the roads cleared by now.

Prayers for my buddy Zachery today.  Love you, guy! (((hugs)))  And prayers for the little cousin, too.

Today is my painting class day.  I hope the ice melts off, as the ladies I teach are all older ladies and they do not like driving on bad roads.  I don't blame them!

Here is a chuckle to brighten your day.

A DISTRAUGHT PATIENT phoned her doctor's office. Was it true, the woman wanted to know, that the medication the doctor had prescribed was for the rest of her life? She was told that it was. There was a moment of silence before the woman continued, "I'm wondering, then, just how serious my condition is. This prescription is marked 'no refills'."

Lord, my CP family has plenty of concerns for you to address.  Some of them are spoken and some they don't even know they are concerns.  We all know you are an awesome Lord.  God willing, our concerns will be taken care of in your time.  God bless my CP family.  We praise you for the gifts and love you give to each of us.  We love You in return.  In your precious Son's name, Amen.

A gloomy day here today.  Near the freezing point.  My son called last evening and will be here Saturday to see if he can fix the garage door(s).

I have been pain free since January 18th.  Since I was told to cancel my appointment with the therapist if I am still pain-free, I will.  I do think that injection did the trick.  Without it....hmmmm!  But yesterday was a weird day.  I kept having what I call razzle-dazzles...the flickering colored lights in my vision...migraine headaches without the headache.  They didn't run their course....just started out and then disappeared.  Must be stress of some kind...They tick me off.  But I ignorerd them yesterday.  May be the reason they didn't run their course.

Another day to serve God...

Etta Sue it is so good to hear that you have been pain free since Jan,. 18th and that you migraines didn't come to fruition. I used to have very ugle migraines, but my chiropractor took care of that many years ago. I still get an occassional headache but no migraines.

Sue Sorry to hear you had such a stressful day yeaterday and also the problemes at the school. I will put the school on my prayer list.

Pat I hope you are having a safe trip to London today, Iknow you won't be able to read this until much later when you get home.

I am so pleased to see that Iain posted in Are you new here? Thank you Iain for allthe hard work you to to help Pat. I hope you are feeling well.

Larry I hope you have all your computer problems solved by now.

Ria how nice that your husband likes to cook. Sometimes I wish I had someone around to cook for me, and I wouldn't have to eat my own cooking all the time. I get so tired of my own cooking.

JudyB I did receive the your testimony in my email. Thank you dear sister. We all have those special stories of what the Lord has done for us in certain situations and how other's lives were changed by our faithfulness to do as the Lord has told us. Thank you for sending that to me.

Saoji have a safe trip with young Zachery today for his Remicade treatment.

Zachery, you hang in  there little brother, we are praying for you.

Hello from Arizona!  I am thinking of each of you - you are in my prayers.

I had a sore throat and was very tired for two days but better now and still reading (very slowly) "Walking the Bible" - very interesting.

Biking today and did the treadmill -visiting with cousins, cooking for everyone & we are having a good visit.

Best to all - I can't get in here often so  please excuse.  Carol

Hi there Marilyn and Etta Sue!  Etta, so good to be pain free, isn't it?  I am trying to adjust my computer position, too, as I get pain in my arms if I am on too long.

Hello, JudyB!  Sounds like you are busy!

Etta Sue, I don't comment often, but I do enjoy your little quotes at the end of your posts.  Very good.

Hi everyone.  I slept in a little later this morning and so wasn't able to go to the "Y" to walk until after morning coffee.  Then I got a haircut so don't look so "doggy" anymore ;D  It is now lunch time and I really haven't gotten anything done here on the computer but don't have to get out again today so hopefully will get something done this afternoon as have some work to do on our church webpage.

Ria and Janet, I sure don't want my wife to see that your husbands are  doing a lot of the cooking as she might get some ideas. ::)  Of course, I am not a cook so probably don't have much to worry about.

Etta Sue, sure glad to read that you are now pain free.  It appears the shot did what it was suppose to do.  If you don't have a computer desk with the keyboard at the right height I would certainly recommend you consider replacing what you have.  Glad to see that Jerry seems to be doing well.  I saw your pictures of him and the cat he is catsitting.

Marilyn, enjoy your time off and especially your special day out tomorrow.  It is nice to be able to do things with friends.  We treasure our friends.  We are going out to eat tomorrow with the couple we often go out with and we are looking forward to the occasion.

JudyB, interesting information on the fork lift licensing.  I expect we have something similar in the USA but have never had occasion to be around a place that used one except when purchasing something.  I liked your posting on God as a crutch.  I can't think of a better thing to use as a crutch.  So many people rely on other things and are letdown, but God never lets us down when we trust him.

Janet, got a chuckle from your disgruntled patient story.  It sounds like you are staying very busy.  Hope your class folks can make it today.

Papa John, thanks for your posting.  I am working on a study course on the "Last Days" which is basically directed searching of the Scriptures.  It could be anyday that our Lord returns as the Scripture tells us .

Pat, hope you have a good trip to London and that your mouth won't be as sore as before.

Sonja,  hope the treatment goes well for Zachery today and also the tests for Ashley show what the problem is.  Know that must be a great concern to the parents and all your family.

Jenny, your Scripture references are always so appropriate to your postings.  Thanks for sharing them with us.

Sue, it is awful to go through layoffs and dismissals.  It creates such a sense of unease among the rest of the workforce.  Did you personally have to handle the dismissals?

A special hi to Carol, Suzanne, Al,  Sarah, and all who stop by today.

February 5

The Holy Spirit: Preachers Without Power

Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a
good conscience, and from sincere faith, from which some, having
strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, desiring to be teachers of
the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which
they affirm.
--1 Timothy 1:5-7

Another thing that greatly hinders God's people is a hardness of
heart caused by hearing men without the Spirit constantly preaching
about the Spirit. There is no doctrine so chilling as the doctrine
of the Spirit when held in cold passivity and personal unbelief. The
hearers will turn away in dull apathy from an exhortation to be
filled with the Spirit unless the Spirit Himself is giving the
exhortation through the speaker. It is possible to learn this truth
and preach it faithfully, and still be totally devoid of power. The
hearers sense the lack and go away with numbed hearts. Theirs is not
opposition to the truth, but an unconscious reaction from unreality.
Yet scarcely one of the hearers can tell another what the trouble
is; it is as if they had been hearing an echo and not the voice, or
seeing a reflection and not the light itself.  Paths to Power, 55.

"Lord, that's a challenging thought. I'm sure that I have many times
preached and taught in my own strength, without the filling and the
power of the Holy Spirit. Deliver me from that error, Lord, that no
one's heart may be hardened through my failure. Amen."

            CONCENTRATE.
I was just thinking back to the last Sunday morning service, as usual when the service began folks were still coming in and getting their seats.
We began singing a song of praise to God, and as I sang, my eyes were on the ushers, showing people where the empty seats were.
Then I studied the musicians, then looked around the church, all the while singing empty praise.

Oh, how easily we are distracted from our Lord's Beauty and Holiness, but the good thing was, that I realised this!
I whispered a quiet "sorry Lord." and closed my eyes, all the distractions disappeared, and I was singing only to Him.
But this is not only in church, how many times have we closed our eyes in morning prayer during our quiet time, and found thoughts entering our minds which draw us away from Him.
What a continual struggle it is to try and stay in contact with Jesus, and yet we must try all the time, because" in His Presence is fullness of joy"
Only as we communicate with Him in the stillness, can we know His Love and His will, and as we pray the scriptures before Him we can claim His great and precious promises.

Father God, help us to "see" Jesus, to listen for the still, small, voice of the Spirit within us.
We are all needy people, Amen.

9.20p.m.

My son Christopher has just told me a lovely news item which he read in the Birmingham Evening Mail tonight on his way home from work:-

Seems a car crashed on a midlands motorway. The driver was transporting his 4 year old pet goldfish (yes...goldfish) in a tank. The goldfish was thrown across the motorway onto the hard shoulder and a paramedic found him 15 minutes later....alive...They put him in some more water and he's absolutely fine...Thankfully so is the driver of the car....True Story folks! Doesn't it just gladden your hearts?

Thats all today brethren
I just thought you'd like this little snippet of good news.

Good night,'God bless

Thank you Chris for your posting of the devotional on the Holy Spirit. How true that is. Also for what you said bout our minds wandering when we close our eyes in prayer. I have had this happen to me more often that I care to admit. When I find myself wandering off in an entirely different direction during prayer I stop, lay my hand on my forehead and say "I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind, over my thoughts and over my dreams In the name of Jesus'" that always helps me to get back on track. It happens mostly at night when I am tired and laying in bed praying just beforfe I fall asleep.

Well, hello everyone!  I never made it to London!  I stopped for gas just as I was leaving Guelph and the guy couldn't open my hood/bonnet.   The temporary wiper arm was in the way.  So I thought I'd put them up on the window with the motor off so as to enable the hood to lift up.  When I turned the wipers on, they flew off into the snow!  Well, I retrieved the wipers and drove wiperless to the station where the work was done and they were still trying to get me a used one but now they had to get a new one from another town and I've been sitting in the station till I found a ride home.

Now they say that the work is done so Andrew is coming for me when he's finished work to take me to pick up the car.

Now, I must go  to London on maybe Monday or Tuesday.

What a day!  The new arm is going to be about $75.00 plus maybe two new wipers...  !!!  So...  I'll be "borrowing from Peter to pay Paul" this month!!!

Talk to you later when I get the car home and get settled in.

Pat, I'm so sorry for the extra expense on your car, but this may have been a "God thing."  Who knows what you may have missed in the way of danger on the road today, that you were spared because of wiper arms?  God is in control!

Chris, I know exactly what you are talking about, too, with the distractions the world and the enemy throws at us when we are worshipping or praying.  It does take diligence!

Jenny, what a neat thing to have happen---a little fish's life becomes a testimony to the goodness and mercy of our Lord!  Thanks for telling us.

The ice melted off and my ladies were here for class.  We had a good time.

Beth got bad news today--Social Security rejected her appeal on her claim.  They say she is able to work--she is NOT.  Now we are attempting to find a lawyer to help her.  Sigh.............

I'm off to watch the news, though I don't know why, most of it is not good anyway.

Janet~They always turn folks down the first time.  I think it is to makes sure they are not lying.  Good idea to get a lawyer.  I will keep her in my prayers. ggrrrr...the government is frustrating sometimes.

Pat~I am so sorry to hear of your wiper problem.  Hope you get it fixed right this time.  (hug)

Jenny~ Neat little story about the goldfish.  God is good, even to little creatures like fish.
Praise God!

Lila Mae slept all night without getting up once.  She is doing great now.  Time to put the crib and playpen up.  Last baby so we will sell it in a garage sale this summer.  :'(

Zachery did fine with his infussion.  He is a bit tired but did great.

I am not sure about Ashley yet.  I will call after 6:00pm and get back with you.

Wooohooo...I get my computers back tomorrow, so Zachery and Troy will be back up and posting.  Maybe even Mike.

Thank you Etta Sue

Sonja, this is not the first time!!  They turned down her initial application, now have rejected her appeal.  And she hasn't been able to work for over a year now.

Go, Lila Mae!!  What a good girl you are!  ;D

Ria when there is an accident here that involves a fork-lift truck the paperwork involved is astronomical.  The labour board wants copies of all maintenance data done on the truck in the past year, in addition to the proof that the driver was licenced.  I have spent much time at the photocopier getting such data for them.  One of the joys of working for a fork-lift sales and service company, I guess.

QuoteSue, it is awful to go through layoffs and dismissals.  It creates such a sense of unease among the rest of the workforce.  Did you personally have to handle the dismissals?

Larry, no I didn't have to handle them.  It was still hard to deal with emotionally though because we were not told the reason why until today.  Just before lunch those of us left were informed that their layoffs were due to "corporate restructuring".  All the duties have been reassigned.  It is still not easy to have to look at that empty space.  Time will heal, I know, but right now...I am still  :'(

And now, time to go sit in the other room and relax.  Have a great evening everyone!

There's a quiet understanding
When we're gathered in the spirit
It's a promise that He gives us
When we gather in His name
There's a love we feel in Jesus
There's a manna that He feeds us
It's a promise that He gives us
When we gather in His name

And we know when we're together
Sharing love and understanding
That our brothers and our sisters
Feel the oneness that He brings
Thank You, thank You, thank You, Jesus
For the way You love and feed us
For the many ways You lead us
Thank You, thank You, Lord

Interesting to read all of this about fork trucks.  This was one of Jack's courses that he taught for many, many years all over the province of Ontario.  In fact he had a miniature fork truck kit built with all of the various "loads" to illustrate parts of his courses and he loaned this to John (Bonesy).  Not sure if he's still using it or not.

Sorry to read about the company restructuring, Sue.  Not nice at all.  My thoughts are with you.

Just back from babysitting for the g-kids. Gilbert was telling that they put in a bid for a house. They would be getting the loan in his name because of the identity theft being in Sarah's name, their last names are different.  Well not much else to talk about just now. sooooo

Pat, I enjoyed that devotional.  The gospel in a nutshell.   It is so good to know the Lord and to know that he is coming for us one day to live forever with Him and all the saints who know Him too.   Praise God!

Yes Sue, Jenny is right that God is in control, but it is hard not to worry.   I will be praying for you that God will "calm you down with His love".   This is what I ask the Lord to do on a regular basis.

Hi Sonja, I will be praying for Zachery and Ashley tonight.

Hi Sarah, it's nice to have a day off, right.

Hi Al...thank you for reminding me about "Praising God"  Yes, thank God for the reformation.

Thank you Papa John for that scripture about the Lord's return.  Yes,"what manner of people ought we to be in holy conduct and godliness"  Sobering thoughts.

Thank you Jenny for that old song about us being precious jewels.   I remember that when I was a child at my Baptist Sunday School.   Because of the wonderful grace of Jesus, we are his jewels.  Praise God.

Janet...our weather here in Canada is MORE SNOW & then FREEZING RAIN!  Wow, I will have to be careful walking to work tomorrow.

Etta Sue, praise God that you have been pain free.  Will pray for your migraines.  Marilyn is right a chiropractor might help.

Thank you Chris for the music to those great word "When He cometh" and for the devotional.

Pat...so sorry for all your troubles today with the car.   It can be so annoying when your plans get all mixed up, but God knows the reason why.  So we will just trust Him.   Love Ruthie

Pat, I just read Jenny's post and she said the same thing!   We know God is in control.

Thank you for that lovely music "There's a quiet understand"  Great to wind down the evening.

God Bless

Love Ruthie

Good evening, everyone.  (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fusers.adelphia.net%2F%7Epairajeans%2Fhiya.gif&hash=f4208c1149469a328e47c47cac17543a340dffcf)

We went to the eye doctor today and Gene got the prescription for his new glasses.  His distance vision in the repaired eye is 20/20.  Of course he still needs the bi-focal for reading, but what a pleasant surprise to find his sight to be better than before he got the cataract.  Praise God!  The optician that the opthalmalogist recommends is just across the street so we took the prescription right over and the new glasses will be ready in a week.  Part of the cost will be covered by insurance, too.   :)

Today was milder and sunny but overnight a front is supposed to come through with all kids of interesting stuff...  snow, freezing rain....  They predict it will be over, though by around 7:00 a.m.  and then it's supposed to get above freezing by afternoon.  It looks so pretty outside my back door now with everything so pure and white.

Time to check out more of our forums...

Aarrggh, Janet.  I know Beth must be frustrated.  I would go on about my opinion about such things, but suffice it to know that I am praying, and God is in control.  <karmat mumbles about such things like government>:

Soni, Go lIla mae.  We are hoping to get Travis's toddler bed up in the next few weeks.  More for safety than anything.  He is trying to crawl out of the crib.  Not good.  :o

Sorry to not address the others. Nard needs to do some web design and needs the puter.  Later!

Pat My dear you are on line...not asleep? Let it go dear one. Let God.  He understands. 'Roll' the burden onto Him....Peace like a river.

Thank you for the music to the hymn "There's a Quiet Understanding" which I posted in Manna from heaven earlier yesterday. Did you see it or was it the Holy Spirit..I had thought" Oh Lord I would love the music to this"..God is so good to me, especially this last few days.  Praise You Lord Jesus Christ!..Father!

Raining here in England but it is so warm.

I am going to try and catch up with some ironing today and will have my little radio on i   the kitchen and my high stool when standing gets too difficult.

God Bless all of you.
Love and prayers.
