You Don't Have To Convince God.
Matt. 6:8. "
Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him."
In ordinary society, you're among people who may or may not know you, your circumstances, your needs, and your desires. In fact, no matter how closely related people may be to you, they can't know your innermost thoughts or desires.
So, if you need people's help, you have to make the need obvious - you have to communicate your need in a way that will convince others enough so that they'll be willing to help. It might even take much effort and time on your part to convince them..
It's not that way when you talk to God. He already knows more about your needs and desires than you do! And you can't change His mind, no matter how you might argue, cry, beg, or even shout. You're coming to a Father Who KNOWS.
So why does He want you to come at all? What's God's purpose for your prayer? The prayer here in Matthew that Jesus taught to the disciples should be more than a little instructive. As a model prayer, it teaches us to simply express ourselves as children to their Father. It teaches us to express our love, our trust, and our recognition of His Godhood and His Fatherhood - recognition that IN EVERYTHING His is the kingdom, and His the power, and His the glory forever.
So our prayers should very, very simply express our relationship - in all of life - to the wonderful God He is. Is that what your prayers do?

Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy Kingdom come;
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power and the glory
Forever.
Amen.

Not sure when your birthday really is, Marilyn as it was a different day on Photography Cafe! So enjoy your days!!!
Hello every one, hope to find you all in good spirits. Thank you Al Moak for the great lesson today. Maybe instead of asking for something I should start thanking God for whatever He wants to give me and take it with both hands.
There is a song that I love...it's a country song, sang by Garth Brooks..."sometimes I thank God for unanswerd prayers" This is so true, just immagine what would've happend/what your life would be like if God answerd all our prayers...lol
It's been quite a hectic few weeks, but things seem to be coming back to normal, wich means I should be able to come onto the site more...I miss you all, especially the morning devotional.
Love u all lots
Adri
I just heard the report on the snowfall over the weekend. Are you ready? 44cm of the white stuff. For those south of the border that works out to be a little over 17inches! Then add the wind to that ....... snow drifts are BIG.
I am up early today awake often through the night. I will be back later.
Judy about the snow. We got word that some folk that live farther north were actually unable to get out of their homes because of the snow and blowing snow. It was thank goodness for caring folk on the outside that had snow blowers. :( :( :( :(
Judy & John Happy Anniversary. :)
Ruth
Thank you Ruth
Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. Cornelia didn't have a good day. She continues to be depressed. She had several times when she had shortness of breast. We talked with a nurse several times and also talked with a cardioligest. (sp)
She did rest well last night. This morning she took her medicine and ate some breakfast. We are hoping she will have a better day today. Martha and Rachel are both here to help take care. Martha took off from work all last week and she is stayhing away from work again today and maybe the rest of the week depending on how Cornelia does.
Thank you all for your prayers. I know God is listening.
Papa John
Hi everyone. We have had a little snow in the Atlanta area but so far nothing out our way. They are having some snow in the North Georgia mountains.
When Pat and I were coming home from church yesterday the transmission started shifting with a bang and the service light came on. However, this morning it seems to be fine so have to conclude it was something to do with the computer that controls everything in the car and not the transmission. That was a relief as the service light is gone and it was shifting as it normally does. I think I am going to look into renting a car for our trip to Florida later this month and not take the chance of a breakdown when a long way from home. It will also save putting all those miles on our car.
Papa John, sorry to hear that Cornelia had such a rough day yesterday and certainly hope today is better for her. It is so good that Martha and Rachel can be there to help her and keep an eye on you as well. I am sure this is also a very stressful time for you.
Judy, that is a lot of snow. I don't envy you having to deal with it but suppose you are used to it living in that area. I wonder iPat are you snowed in today?
Al, that is a fine devotional today.
Ardi, glad to see you back and hope things smooth out for you.
Welcome to our new members and Happy Anniversary to Judy & John and Happy Birthday Marilyn.
Etta Sue, didn't you share some photos with us the last time you went to the Easter pagaent? I am glad you are having the opportunity to attend it again.
Marilyn, it sounds like you have your dogs spoiled just as we have our cat very spoiled.
Janet, hope you have super classes this week and enjoy every minute of it. It is so nice to read that Beth is progressing well.
Hi Melody.
Chris, when I tried to access the music you had linked I got a page saying you couldn't link from Angelfire to other sites.
Kevin, hope your rest will take care of that cold.
Guess I had better get busy on some other projects.

Larry ~ I don't believe you can take photos at the pageant but I think I remember I put up a URL so you could see some pictures. With movement all around you while there, it seems to draw you into that time. Wonderful.
Papa John ~ I am praying that Cornelia will be better soon. She may always have some depression but praying that the depression isn't severe. I am praying for the whole family in this stressful time. God Bless All of You.
JudyB ~ Wow! That's a lot of snow! Do you have ice with the snow up there? We tend to have some of both here. Usually snow on top of ice and that makes for a very slippery situation when out driving.
Al ~ An awesome devotion! Really great!
Today it is cold....21°F but bright and sunny. My solar heat is working right now. But my hands are cold as I am typing. Maybe I ought to sit at my dining room table where the solar heat comes into the house!!

I forgot .....
I am not a football fan. Last night I was channel surfing and got to the Animal Planet channel. They had Puppy Bowl on. The stage looked like a football field, the sides were painted like people in the bleachers. Then they let the puppies in, telling their names, ages, and breed....so cute...about 10 of them. Music was playing in the background. So the whole two hours were watching these puppies run, play, bite, play with toys. So cute. The only human was when the puppies had a penalty accident and a referee came in to clean up the mess! And then there were commercials. Lots more fun than Super Bowl...well, to me, at least.
Etta Sue, I would have loved the Puppy Bowl. I used to have cable, and would watch Animal Planet a lot.
Papa John, I know this is a stressful time. Thank God for children who can come and be with you and Cornelia during this time. I know they wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Al, thank you for a wonderful devotional. We have such a good Father.
We had early morning sunshine again today. I have more daffodils blooming.
All this talk of snow! Brrrrr.....I'll take Oregon rain anytime. :)
Blessings, Nita
Pray for one another. James 5:16
Be encouraged to cheerfully offer intercessory prayer, by remembering
that such prayer is the sweetest God ever hears. The prayer of Christ
is of this character. In all the incense that our Great High Priest
now puts into the golden censer, there is not a single grain for
Himself. His intercession must be the most acceptable of all
supplications--and the more our prayer like Christ's, the
sweeter it will be.

Chris, I get this message when I click on your link:
Angelfire does not allow direct linking
from offsite, non-Angelfire pages,
to files hosted on Angelfire.
Pat, try the method Babycakes suggested. I did that and it worked as it downloads the file to your computer rather than direct linking to play. I would never have thought to try that method.
Chris, I like the song but it is not the one we sang yesterday. The one we sang was called, "Move that Mountain, Lord" by Robert Clatterback. I did a websearch for it with no success. I think it is a new composition.
Yes, I see it Larry.

Happy Birthday Marilyn!
Happy Anniversary Judy and John!
I have been struggling with trying to clean the house, and the clutter just seems to keep piling up. I have joined FlyLady and although I don't do as she asks all the time, I have shined my sink each night before bed and feel really good when I get up. I came home from work today and went upstairs to strip the bed in preparation for doing the laundry and took the time to clean/declutter a corner of the bedroom behind a chair. That took an hour but I feel great! One baby step toward decluttering the house!
Papa John, I pray that Corneila gets through her bout of depression. I remember when my husband had his, he was bothered by depression off and on for the rest of his 7 years of life but the most severe was the first two weeks after coming home.
We have had a fair accumulation of snow but I'm sure that it is not as much as you have received Judy. I received an email from an Aunt and she has been without power and has had quite a bit of snow, more than me I'm sure!
I have to get going and make some rice to go with the Chili in the crock pot and then will sit and relax for the evening (in between treks up and down the stairs to deal with the laundry).
Hello I am back home now from a very pleasant day sepent with the wm's. They took me to lunch at the Samoa Cookhouse, a loggers cookhouse andmuseum, I took a whole bunch of photos with I will upload to my gallery as soon as I get them resized and enhanced. Right now I have a headache so Iam going to lay down for a little while.
I am having a fun Birthday.
TTYL
Happy Birthday, Marilyn ....
It still is your special day, y'know... ;)
Samoa Cookhouse ... I've been there! In fact, I have a coffee mug souvenir from there. Neat place. I'm glad you're enjoying your birthday.
I have had a pleasant surprise: I found out I am eligible for a tax refund this year! WhooHooo ... That's great, considering the mess the IRS and the State of Oregon have put me through for the past couple years. ::)
I used TaxAct (free) to figure the Federal Tax then transferred the infomation required for State from there ... I would like to file electronically so I can get the $$$ sooner, but I don't want to have to pay to file. :-\ The AARP volunteers are helping, and filing, for free but when I went over there this morning they were already overloaded and said to come back tomorrow. I'll go again tomorrow but if there's the same crowd then I'll just mail the forms. I guess a longer wait won't kill me and I'll have something to look forward to. ;)
I sure have a (long) list of things to use the money for! ::)
Well, I've got stuff to do and need to get at it ... We are having a respite from the rain this week ... hopefully it will last a while so my weeds and grass can grow ... LOL I'm thinking of getting a goat to keep the yard mowed. But then I'd have to cleanup after the goat so it would be another not nice chore. :-\
I'm still praying for Beth and Cornelia -- and Papa John and Janet and Ruth Ann and all the others who really need sustaining and comfort.
I have been enjoying the photos ... I'll come back later to check for any new ones.
Later .........
:groupwave:
Happy Anniversary
John and Judy!

:hb: Happy Birthday Marilyn :cheer:
Thank you all for the lovely a Birthday greeting. I really appreciate them all. I have had a wonderful day and Gilbert and the family is coming over in just a little while.
Yesterday when I got home form church there was a lovely pot of Purple Tulips in front of my door. No card on them and I didn't know where they were from. Gilbert had put them there to surprise me while I was at church.
I have all the photos that we took this afternoon ready to add to my gallery, I can only add 5 at a time so I will get them all there. I guess I can post some in our photos here thread then.
I am having the AARP people do my taxes too at the Senior center next week My apt. is for the 13th. I never did get my $19. refund from last year.

As the Deer Panteth for the Water (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/asthedeer.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Written by Martin Nystrom
Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.
You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.
Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARILYN!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, JUDY AND JOHN!!
It's been a very long and very busy day, and I am more than ready to hit the sack. I didn't sleep at all well last night, and have been going full steam ahead since 7 this morning. After class I helped with the Ministerial Association's annual soup supper, then attended my Community Meltdown meeting, then Darrel's diabetes support group meeting. Whew. I'm bushed.
My painting is going really well. It is amazing how much praying before and during the process helps. :)
Jane, thanks so much for your continuing prayers. And I am rejoicing with you over your expected tax refund. There are always things we need money for, huh?
Papa John, I pray Cornelia will have a better day tomorrow, and each day following that. And I pray for you and your daughters who are caring and concerned for her. These things take a toll on the whole family.
Beth continues to do well. I didn't see her today, but I will stop in tomorrow. I told her yesterday that I might not have time today, so she won't be hurt about it.
Time to get a devotional posted, then I will come back and close up shop for the day.
Thanks folks for clicking on the photos up above. We all like to have comments and these members sure would like to have some.
