The town of Chepstow in South Wales is one of the gateway towns from the country's border with England. A stroll through it while on holiday caught my imagination when I saw a hotel called "The Five Alls."
The facade of the building was bedecked with five life-size figures with inscriptions as follows:
- A soldier with the inscription "I fight all;"
- a bishop with "I pray for all;"
- a king, "I rule all;"
- a lawyer, "I plead for all;"
- a banker, "I pay all."
What an opportunity to preach a message concerning Christ in that town by adding two other themes represented in His blessed person:
- "I love all"
- "I died for all."

Good morning/afternoon folks!
Troy has another swim meet this morning at 10:30am.
They bumped him up to the A team, which is with the best swimmers last night. Not sure what they have planned to do today with him.
The coach said, "he is doing really good."
Troy swam the 500yd freestyle last night and got a 6.23 min. The coach said, that most kids who have been swimming for 2 years can't get that good of score." Troy's goggles came off even when he dove of the block, so his eyes were all red and he could barely see. :(
He was excited and so was his team. He took 7th in the over all heat. Which is excellent since he was swimming with the A team.
He will swim the 100yd butterfly and the 50 free today. I am so jazzed. I love watching the kids swim.
It is going to be crowded there today with 30 different schools there. The girls we also be swimming today. Ugh...what a mess.
I better get going.

Today it is beautiful and not too cold. In fact the temps are in the high 40's.
I am going to Myrtle Beach tonight and to see the broadway play tomorrow.....Les Miserables. I have been given tickets for a present and am really looking forward to it. I dearly love the ocean and beach. When I am there it is soooooooo relaxing. I wish I could afford to retire there and just listen to the waves washing on shore everyday.

Today I am doing my laundry in my new washer Ya--hoo!!
The kids finally got here about 9 pm last night broght me 1/2 of a German Chocolate cake. (My Favorite by the way) and a Gift certificate for a one hour threaputic massage at Dynamic Therapies. I will call and make an apppointment soon.
Both dogs are standing on the couch looking out the back window over the fence at the neighbors dogs and whining. Poor babies have to be confined to our yard. Better for them that way.I would rather have them safe than to be out in the neighborhood.

Tony called me again last night and talked for over an hour. He doesn't like this night shift...5pm-5am...but I think I do. He calls me about every other night. Also they are to be here this evening and we are going out for dinner...my way of paying him for fixing the garage door. BTW, I did walk out there this morning and it was frozen to the pavement. I got it loose and it works fine. Just remembered, I walked out there to get a cassette of the Youth Ministers sermon last weekend...forgot to get it!

Ria sorry you couldn't sleep. Have you tried drinking "Sleepy Time Tea" before you go to bed. Do not drink regular tea because it has caffein in it. Not good for sleeping. Another trick is to drink warm milk with your calcium pill and then put socks on. Apparently if you have warm feet it keeps you sleeping, Hope some of these help tonight!

Do not quench the Spirit.

It is time for us to repent, for our transgressions against the

I have a 2:30 appointment at the hairdresser for a haircut. I am contemplating getting my looooong hair cut off to about shoulder length. Trying to eventually get it to all one length and get the perm cut off. Can't do it all at once though, I hate to cut it period it took so long to get this way, but the layers need to go. I will have someone take a new photo of me later. I forgot you can't really see how long my hair really is, it is just about the middle of my back around the strap area.

PAT: "It is well with my Soul" is one of my favorite hymns. Especially because I love singing the bass part.
Now as Paul Harvey would say...Here is the rest of the story.
The writer of this GREAT hymn used a personal tragedy when he penned these enduring and encouraging words.
His wife and children had booked passage to sail from England to the USA to join him. At some time during the night, a storm struck. The ship sank and all on board perished.
Later, the writer was returning to England on another ship. When the ship reached the point of the sinking, the ships captain, as an honor to the lost , stopped the ship at the exact point and told the writer that this was where his wife and children perished in the storm.
At this point the man went back to his cabin and penned the words to this song out of deep sorrow, yet comfort.
He was much like Job, who had lost everything he had, but to the Sustainer and Giver of life he could write "When sorrows like sea billows roll."
When the storms of life of life strike and all around us is lost.....you can sing "Whatever my lot......It is well, it is well with my soul."
YOUR ASSIGNMENT: Go back and re-read the words to that hymn (as I am going to do) and see how much more that hymn will mean to you.
Sometimes knowing the rest of the story, makes something so much more meaningful.

Well, it has been a long day here. We went to the homecoming brunch at Lipscomb University this morning and saw many old friends. We always enjoy events like this.
This afternoon we went to a birthday party for our son-in-law's dad, David East. David lost his wife last year and many of the family were there including his son and daughter as well as several of the grandchildren along with the Murphrees.
On the way back we stopped at the Mall to walk. It was after dark when we got home. Pizza for supper.
Janet, I really enjoyed the amazing pictures. It is quite an adventure to view such marvels of the sea. God's creation never ceases to amaze me.

I am really late getting here today as have spent another day of frustration with the computers. I once again had to call our son, who came over this evening, and got everything going and did some other improvements. Needless to say I am beat but wanted to at least post today.
It is cold here tonight, about 30 now and will get colder before morning. However, we have no snow or ice so am not complaining as have a nice warm house.

What a strange day we had today! The sun would shine brightly, glaring off the snow, for a while. Then it would get so dark I needed a light in order to read. Then it would brighten a little and there'd be a snow squall. The temperature got up to 38 degrees, but the wind was so strong and gusty it didn't feel warm at all. A little bit of everything except rain. ;D
Got all the bills paid this morning and of course there was one more in this afternoon's mail. :-\ I did make one huge mistake today... I let Gene go to the grocery story by himself. ::) Oh well. Maybe I'll get some new town work on the computer this week.
