Morning Devotional...

"When Jesus heard it, He said to them, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance'."
Mark 2:11

The Body's Incredible Healing Powers

God has given your body incredible powers of healing and repair and you could almost say that we carry our very own doctor and pharmacy inside us.

When testing new medicines, one group of patients get the medicine and another group get a placebo. The placebo does nothing but no one knows who gets it. However, doctors have known for years that a "placebo effect" sometimes takes place For example, if the body thinks it is getting aspirin for a headache but is actually getting a placebo, the body expects the medicine to work and the headache will often disappear. Studies over recent years have shown that the body does produce its own painkillers. It has been found that one of these pain-killing chemicals made by the body can reduce pain as effectively as 8 milligrams of morphine or 80 milligrams of Demerol!

Studies on the body's built-in pharmacy have, so far, confirmed that the body is also able to treat coughs, anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, asthma, colds, arthritis, ulcers, high cholesterol, and even warts. Often, the medicines we take simply give the  body "permission" to do its own healing by giving us the belief we are going to get better.

Medicine is often the study of how the body solves problems - in other words, a study of the work of the Great Physician Himself!

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, You made us and You are the great Healer of both body and soul. I thank you for the wonderful abilities You have given my body to take care of itself. But without You, my soul has no healing. I trust in Your atonement for my sin. Amen.

Pat, wonderful devotional.  So very true.

Our services.....this morning and tonight.....were great.  We have another church that fellowships with us on Sunday evenings, so there is always lots of music.

Our services are always filled with worship songs.  We worship in music for a longer time than pastor preaches.  The worship has been so wonderful lately.  Wonderful because I can feel a fresh move of the Holy Spirit in our midst.    Just one Touch, and our hearts are eager for more. :)  Oh, I pray this lasts, and we don't get human plan in the way.   We were all blessed tonight.   Thank you, Jesus, for not giving up on us......thank you Holy Spirit for so lovingly tending the bride of Christ, and thank you, Father, for choosing us for Your Son.

I'm going to look at your pictures, Janet.

Night all.  I sat hear reading and smiling about your church services today.  Pat, sorry you are in pain.  How was church tonight?

Pat that is perfect.  A real "confirmation in Spirit" for me this morning. I gave a health problem to Jesus and He has confirmed He is in control...Amen!  Wonderful timing!
Sunday dog got me up at 4.45 a.m.  I had a cuppa and Devotional time with the Lord.  He was so near.  I had just been looking at the beautiful Heavenly picture He gave me when I was in the garden with Sunday...the sky was sprinkled with stars and the moon was so clear and bright.  Praise The Artist!

As I drank my early cup of tea, I read from "God's Treasury"...Spurgeon (O.K. Iain?)..

"The fire only refines; it does not destroy."

"We are to be brought through the fire, not left in it.
The Lord values His people as silver, and therefore He is at pains to purge away their dross.  If we are wise, we shall rather welcome the refining process than decline it. Our prayer will be that our alloy may be taken from us rather than that we should be withdrawn from the crucible."

The ref for the above is  Zech 13:9

Nita, I rejoice with you and Jane....Prayerfully.

My prayers and blessings,
Jenny

Good Morning All.

I forgot to mention that the youth minister, yesterday, during his sermon was brought to tears three times while preaching.  He is young...mid 20's...going to be a first time father this spring or summer.  He so wants everyone to come to Christ.  I wish they would put the sermons on the PCCC website so anyone or everyone could hear or read.  Hmmm!  That's an idea!!

It is above freezing today.  I had a couple of letters to put in the mailbox.  So while the coffee was making, I put on my boots and winter jacket and hat and took the letters out.  Wow!  When I got to where the wind could hit me, it was like a gale!  But it sure is making the snow yucky!  It almost looks like a sand dune.  Remember I am out in the open and some of the snow has been blown off the farm fields so the wind is blowing dirt and snow.  It looks weird seeing dusty snow.

Partly sunny today.

Ali is wanting her drink from the faucet...she has me trained well!!!  Inky is drinking from the faucet too.  Ali has trained Inky well, too.  At least, in drinking water.   ???

We all have pc problems from time to time.

Mine right now is.....

I used Microsoft Internet Explorer as my browser.  What do I have to do so that I can have more than 2 IE windows open.  When I want to post photos, I have to copy and paste the URL's on note pad because I have my import site open, then the Preview of the picture I want to post in order to get the URL.  Then I have to open up CP again, find Photographs Here, but then I have to Open a New topic again.  Very frustrating.  Thought I could use the History...arrow between my Back and Forward but it doesn't have the 'page' where I am creating a new topic.

Very frustrating.

I am thinking I need something ticked or unticked in Tools/Internet Options but I can't seem to find it.

Can anyone help?

Please!!

Good Morning Everyone!

It's cold here today!

Etta Sue, as you are reading this, can you not go up to "File/New/Window"   and just click on that?  That will open a new window.

Etta Sue I don't have that problem with XP. I usually only have two windows open when posting

Pat than  you for the devetional this morning. It is always very interesting what the body can do for itself when God is in control.

I looked out the window this morning and the drivers door on one of Gilberts cars was open. I remember that it was open late yesterday afternoon and I don't think he closed it. So I call ed to let them know. I hope nothing was stolen from his car.

P.U.S.H.
=========

A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room
filled with light and God appeared.  The Lord told the man He
had work for him to do and showed him a large rock in front of
his cabin.

The Lord explained that the man was to push against the rock
with all his might.  So, this the man did, day after day.
For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders
set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving
rock, pushing with all of his might.

Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out,
feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.

Since the man was showing discouragement, the Adversary (Satan),
decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary
mind:

"You have been pushing against that rock for a long time, and it
hasn't moved."

Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was
impossible and that he was a failure.  These thoughts
discouraged and disheartened the man.

Satan said, "Why kill yourself over this?  Just put in your
time, giving just the minimum effort, and that will be good
enough.  That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to
make it a matter of prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to
the Lord.

"Lord," he said, "I have labored long and hard in your service,
putting all my strength to do that which you have asked.
Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by
half a millimeter.

What is wrong?

Why am I failing?"

The Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when I asked you
to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to
push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have
done.

Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it.

Your task was to push.

And now you come to Me with your strength spent,
thinking that you have failed.

Is that really so?

Look at yourself.

Your arms are strong and muscled,
your back sinewy and brown;
your hands are callused from constant pressure,
your legs have become massive and hard.
Through opposition you have grown much,
and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have.

True, you haven't moved the rock.  But your calling was to be
obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My
wisdom.  That you have done.

Now I, my friend, will move the rock."

At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own
intellect to decipher what He wants, when actually what God
wants is just a simple obedience and faith in Him.

By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains,
but know that it is still God who moves mountains.

When everything seems to go wrong...just

P.U.S.H.!

When the job gets you down... just P.U.S.H.!

When people don't react the way you think
they should... just P.U.S.H.

When your money is "gone" and the bills are due... just P.U.S.H!

When people just don't understand you... just P.U.S.H.

P= Pray
U= Until
S= Something
H= Happens

I have been feeling rather discouraged the last couple of days.  Then I received the above email.  I will keep pushing.

I am hearing some discouragement in some of the postings over the last little while.  I urge all of you to keep pushing! ! !

Hi JudyB when you sent me that in my email this morning, McAfee kicked it out and I didn't get to read it so I am glad that you posted it here. Thank you, you don't know how much I needed that message. There has been something going on in my finances that caused me to be in need of a message such and this and had me feeling discouraged. I just have to P.U.S.H. and let God be in control.

Well Gilbert has brought me a book that he wants me to read before the elections here in the states, so that is what I am going to do.

Good morning! How I thank you, PAT, JENNY, and JUDY B for the devotional thoughts here this morning!  I have had a restless night and didn't even want to get up this morning because of the heaviness in my heart and the questions in my mind.  First of all I received a devotional in my email that hit me right where I was hurting!   :-\  Then I came here and there was the rest of what the Lord wanted me to know today.  I will keep pushing, Judy, and I will "rather welcome the refining process than decline it" Jenny.  I know God is (ALWAYS) in control, Pat, and I will continue to remind myself of that as I worship through this day.

Marilyn, I understand, only too well, what you are going through.  I am praying.

It is a beautiful sunny morning here, although the frost was pretty thick earlier.  This is the day the Lord has made and I WILL rejoice and be glad in it.

Love in Him,  Jane

I just thought I'd like to share some more along the same theme today... I received this in this mornng's email:
Manna in the Morning

Manna Under His Pinions
[/b]
Then He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; his truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. Psalm 91:4 Amplified

We all know that a mother hen buries her chicks under her wings in the softest feathers of her breast. But I didn't know the full meaning of this until my husband and I raised some chickens.

The chicks are not even visible under the mother's wings. If one peeks out she pushes it back in. A good mother hen is vigilant because chickens are vicious creatures. They will eat each other and especially will eat baby chicks. The mother hen has to fight off the predators in her own flock and she will attack then violently if they go after her chicks!! Then there are other predators: snakes, possums, etc. I have seen a mother hen scare away a dozen chickens, screeching and pecking and flapping her wings. She is a fearsome sight.

The hen is not merely a warm place of hidden protection. She is the shield and buckler - the armed defense, the fighting force.

Such is the picture God draws of Himself, for us.

February 9

The Holy Spirit: Some Other Time

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I
do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because
I go to My Father.
--John 14:12

"You will receive power" (Acts 1:8a). "Eagerly desire the greater
gifts" (1 Corinthians 12:31a). Anything that God has ever done for a
soul He will do for anyone else, if the conditions are met. The Lord
who blessed these men that I spoke about, and the thousands who
followed them but whose names are not known, is willing to do the
same for us as He did for them.

Unbelief says: Some other time, but not now; some other place, but
not here; some other people, but not us. Faith says: Anything He did
anywhere else He will do here; anything He did any other time He is
willing to do now; anything He ever did for other people He is
willing to do for us! With our feet on the ground, and our head cool,
but with our heart ablaze with the love of God, we walk out in this
fullness of the Spirit, if we will yield and obey. God wants to work
through you!

The Counselor has come, and He doesn't care about the limits of
locality, geography, time or nationality. The Body of Christ is
bigger than all of these. The question is: Will you open your heart?
The Counselor, 121.

"This thought is very convicting, Lord. I know I've been guilty of
praising You for Your power and goodness, while secretly doubting
that You were really going to work in my present situation. Forgive
me that duplicity, Lord, and give me faith to believe You for Now,
for Here, for Me. Amen."

Words by Fanny Crosby
Music by Phoebe P. Knapp

Hebrews 10:22
"Let us draw near with a true heart
in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water
."

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Hello Pat, Zachery, Soni, Ria, Sarah,

Just popping in to see what's up.  I don't want to miss anything.

It's soooooooooo cold here tonight. I am so thankful for my feather under-quilt., It's made a great difference Pat. Like you, I can't afford to leave heating on all night., a nice hot water bottle and bed socks.  God is good!

Thank you for the "uplifting" hymn and music dear Pat.

I am off to do a little bit more of the rug.  It's a bit heavy on my wrists so I am going to make a toy rabbit also for a break in between.

Good night Ria, God Bless.Sleep tight. :-*

Hi everyone.  Have really had a busy day and just now having time to write a little bit.  I got up early and went walking at the "Y" as the housekeepers were coming this morning and Pat needed to go to the "Y" for water aerobics before they would be done.  Came back and stopped for coffee at the cafe.  Worked all morning on the church webpage and when Pat got home from the "Y" we decided to go have some Mexican food at a new place.  They had a nice buffet at a reasonable price so we enjoyed that.  Then stopped at the library to return items and Pat got some more.  We then stopped at two grocery stores for a few items and at the bank.  Now we are home for the evening.  (Wasn't that boring but that was my day.  Suppose to rain tomorrow so we wanted to get these errands done.)

Pat, that is a beautiful midi of "Blessed Assurance".  Do you know who the pianist is?   Also very meaningful devotional comments and pieces today.  JudyB, I liked the PUSH story as that is certainly true.

Mullet, tell us a bit about your paper route if you care to do so.  Also do you have any particular hobbies.  Tell us about your Sunday School class or youth activities at your church.  Tell us about your swimming.  Was your paper route easier today in your new vehicle?

Etta Sue, noticed your comment about having sermons from your ministers posted on your church webpage.  Just this last weekend I set up a new section on our church webpage to start putting the sermons from our pastors on the website.  Two of our three ministers write their sermons in MS Word and I can take those files and immediately convert them into html files and just upload them so it is very easy to do.  If you are interested in seeing the way I have done this just go to http://www.wpcsnellville.org/ (http://www.wpcsnellville.org/) and then click on the link to Sermons on the left side of the homepage.  I feel this added a needed devotional component to our webpage.  So far have only 5 sermons linked.  Unfortunately, our third minister doesn't write out her sermons but uses an outline.

Etta Sue, regarding the IE Browser, I have been using a browser called Avant, which is built on the IE platform but allows tabbed browsing, which I really like.  You can also set up groups of sites and open them all at once.  It uses the IE bookmarks and looks very much like IE.  It is my browser of preference now.  It is free and here is the link:  http://www.avantbrowser.com/ (http://www.avantbrowser.com/) if you are interested.  I think as Pat says you should be able to open as many IE windows as you want.

Marilyn, I hope your son didn't have a dead battery in his car from leaving the door open all night.

Judy, hope Norm is feeling better today.  Pat, is the toothache gone today?  Ruth Ann, hope the dizziness has subsided.  Hard to do anything while you are dizzy.  Fortunately I have only experienced that feeling a few times in my life.

Need to stop writing and do my Bible and devotional reading for today as didn't get it done before I left the house this morning.  Hope everyone has a good afternoon, evening or morning for Jenny, Ria, Chris, Iain and anyone else in Europe.

Hi Pat,

Thanks for writing back. I've never had such a difficult time, finding work.  I believe in the power of God and that difficult times don't last.  I just have to trust in His timing.  I'm on my way to eat with a friend, so will talk to you later. Melvin

Melvin!  Great to see you back posting.

We actually got up to 35 degrees this afternoon - for a few minutes.  :-\  Then it clouded up and started snowing again, which wasn't in the forecast.  Guess the weatherman forgot to tell the weather.   ;D

Zachery, you're really doing great - swimming, paper deliveries, computer posting, cooking...  keep up the good work.  You're part of our "family" now, you know, and we're all proud of you. :o

See?  I knew if I started naming names I'd get into trouble.  Suffice it to say that today's devotion and the other uplifting postings were "right on".   ;D

Hi Jeanne - I see you and I are online together!! - I love the way you express your love in here for Gene...and the thankfulness you always have for your nice warm cozy home.
I am thankful for Norm and our warm cozy home too.  Tonight as I write, itd dark, cold and damp outside....I am thankful for being inside!

Mel. - thank you for the reminder for us to pray for a job for you.  I know of another fellow who has been looking for a job now for two years.  This particular person has a wife and three small pre-school age children.  He is getting pretty desperate.  Please pray for Bruce!

Zachary:  One of my grandchildren swims in competition.  She swims every day., sometimes she gets to the pool as early as 5:am.  Do you swim in competitions?  Kelsea is very competitive...BUT she is also very hard on herself.  She is always trying to beat her record.

Thank you Larry for asking about Norm.  He is feeling better today.  We are seriously looking at his diet.  He is driking lactose free milk, organic breads and special margarine.  Anything made with milk, he is avoiding.  I am praying that its  a milk allergy that he has.  We can deal with that. :(

Does anyone know how I can find out what symptoms an allergy to milk can cause?  I would sure like to find out what all foods to avoid.  It will be a new way of cooking, if thats the cause.

I'm off to the photography forums now.

Pat - how is your facial pain....gone I hope!

Love.... Judy :D

Judy, if I were told not to express my love for Gene or my love for my Savior I'd be in big trouble!   ;D

Judy...Just popped in before I go to my bed.

Milk allergy can cause I.B.S.(Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Long Life Skimmed Milk, U.HT.  does help this wonderfully. It is very highly treated, boiled even more times than sterilised milk.,This kills the parasites that cause havoc with the intestines also it is higher in calcium this way. I listened to a bowel specialist on the radio last year and he was expounding the qualities of U.H.T Milk. He did explain how it works but I cant recall.

I use it all the time having been hospitalised and drip fed due to severe I.B.S. In fact I have a mug of skimmed milk here beside me as my bedtime drink.

Thats all for now dear Judy, I must to my bed.

See you all again.
Love Jenny.

Ria, yes Ruth and I are mother and daughter.

Pat, I think that Dad enjoyed coming for dinner.  I know I enjoyed their company.....I always do!

Pat, thank you. I have always had more than one window open, but always minimized the current screen to then open another window from my desktop.  This is a wonderful shortcut.

Pat, what wonderful music.  Blessed Assurance.  The first time through, I sang the words.  Then just enjoyed the skill of the pianist.

Work was much better today.  Things are starting to calm down emotionally after last week's upheaval.  Time to get off line and do a bit of cleaning and then some rest and relaxation before starting a fresh day tomorrow.

Hey, Guys and Gals!

I have had a great day at painting class, and Sonja, it's lookin' good! ;)

Zachery, what is your favorite thing to study in your schoolwork?  What is your favorite swimming stroke?  Did you look at my underwater photos?  You might like them.  It sure is good having you back in here posting again!  Love you!

Pat, no toothache today?  I hope the pain is gone.

I enjoyed everyone's posts, but am tired tonight and need to do a couple things yet before bedtime, so please excuse me for not mentioning everybody.  I still love all of you!

Thanks Jenny for that information.  The "strane" thing is, though., Norm hasn't any problem with his bowel...its all nausea and pain in the abdomen. I'm hoping this lactose free diet will help.

When he is doubled over in pain., my heart goes out to him. :'(

Janet - did I tell you that I love this new picture of you?

Jeanne - nobody would EVER tell you not to express your love for Gene or your Savior....Never, never, never., especially in here!! ;)

well., I have been sitting here at my computer for a couple of hours.  Its time to put the dishes away., and get into bed where its cozy and warm.

I hope everyone has a good sleep tonight!

I am hoping that everyone on CP will go and see the movie "The Passion" that was directed by Mel Gibson.  Apparently Famous Players are thinking of limiting the screens.  If all the Christians support this movie it would be good.    Billy Graham has seen it and said that it brought tears to his eyes.   Also James Dobson is supporting it.

Thank you.   God Bless

Pat, I enjoyed the devotional and reading all the posts tonight.  I have just come back from an EE planning meeting for an EE clinic.   This is where we train Pastors to present the gospel.

Now I have to let my new boarder get on the computer.  He is researching for his new job. Ryan is a nice Christian fellow who lives in the basement and has no computer as yet so I agreed he could use mine until he gets one.

God Bless

Well, we have had another nice day.  This morning I had an appointment with my Cardiologist.  He listened to my heart, looked at recent lab tests, etc. and said I was doing fine and to come back in six months.

This afternoon we walked in the Mall.  The doctor wants me to walk every day and so far I have been doing pretty good.

Larry, thanks for the information about the Avant Browser.  I have downloaded it and I think I am going to enjoy using it.  Anything which is new takes a little while to get used to.

I hope you are all doing well tonight.  Good to see each one of you.

JUDY:  Thank you for the neat story.  Sometimes we cannot or do not see the results of what God wants us to do.  We look to others for confirmation that we are doing the right thing.

Sometimes we need only to look at ourselves to see the results.  When I think back to how I used to be, I am humbly blessed to see the changes that he made in me.

Satan does tell us that we are still the same person, but looking at the results, we know that we are not.  PTL

PAT: Thank you for putting the music on...now as I navigate the entries...I listen to some of my favorite hymns.  of course I could use my Windows Media Player....

Hey, Ed!

Great to see you here!  How's the weather across the border in Michigan?

It's been cold and damp here today.

I'm off to London tomorrow early.  I'll have to pull out of here a bit before 7 am so I'm going to open our new topic a little early tonight folks.

Pat:  Thanks for all of your hard work.
Pat: How are your teeth today?

Ria:  Yes Sue and I are mother and daughter.

Zachery: It is wonderful that you enjoy swimming so much keep up the good work.

Today started out as any normal day the roads and weather were good a hint of sun as well.  But as I drove along picking up the students for school a message came over the 2-way radio sugesting that a watermain outside the school had broke.  When I arrived water was all over the road, we had to keep the children on the buses until it was decided what to do.  Phone calls were made and the children were picked up by their parents and taken home as for tomorrow we will have to wait and see. Today my morning trip trip ended at noon.

We have been experiencing a sort of thaw around here.  Yesterday it got up to 41, don't know about today.  Snow still melting.

Probably as soon as the snow is gone, we'll get another batch.....Oh well, you have to get the last snowstorm then comes the warm stuff.

We went to Eaton Rapids (s of Lansing) on Sunday, for our newest grandchilds dedication service yesterday.  A nice sunny day for a drive.

Hi all!  sorry I didn't get in here from work today.  My students were excessively talkative today.  And it was me they were wanting to talk to.  No subject in particular, they just kept shooting the breeze.  every itme I would start to post, one of them would start to tell me a story.  go figure.

Z= I think you asked why the lower forums didn't get read/commented on alot.  I can only speak for myself, but a lot of times, I come in read NEM, comment, and then have to chase a 2yo.  Also, alot of times, I read the posts, but don't comment unless I have something burning to say.

I am sleepy, and Nards has some programming ot do, I think, so I will callit a night!

nite nite all
