Morning Devotional...

Are you a seeker?

"These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures deaily to find out whether these things were so.  Therefore many of them believed..."

When you first came to Jesus Christ, what exactly was it that happened to you?  Did God's Word play a significant part in it?  When you were told about Jesus, did you really search the Scriptures to see if what you heard was true?  That's the way it was for the Bereans.  And the result of their careful study was that many of them "believed" - they began to call on Jesus' Name for salvation for every aspect of their lives.

Please notice, though, that it was all because they carefully, prayerfully, dilligently, and urgently studied God's Word.  Do you want a closer walk with Him?  Do you want true blessing in your life?  There is only one answer.  It is daily and prayerful study of God's Word.   What part does God's holy Word play in your daily life?

Bless Thou The Bread of Life[/u]

Break Thou the bread of life, Dear Lord, to me,
As thou didst break the loaves beside the sea;
Throughout the sacred page, I seek Thee, Lord,
My spirit pants for Thee, O living Word.

Bless Thou the truth, dear Lord, to me, to me,
As Thou didst bless the bread by Galilee;
Then shall all bondage cease, all fetters fall;
And I shall find my peace, my all in all.
Amen.

Bad me, I told everyone my wife was having surgery and forgot to tell you that she had it...  She had surgery this past wednesday for the herniated disk.  Surgery took an hour.  She spent the night at the hospital, then came on home.  No complications, and the pain is gone.  She hasn't had any pain meds since surgery!!!  We're now staying here for another month before we will be able to fly back home.  We're all ready to get home and back to our 'normal' life.  Had to change our tickets, and that cost us another $600, so we've got to come up with that as well.  Oh well, God knows our needs and is faithful to meet them.

Blessings all,
Mike
A watched clock never boils.

Judy McKenna

Mike:  I'm so glad that your wife (don't know her name...sorry)., is doing so well!

NO MORE PAIN.....NO PAIN MEDICATION....WOW - THIS IS TRULY AN ANSWER TO PRAYER!...

wonderful, Mike....we rejoice with you!

Thank you for posting this good news!
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Nita

Gina, I was smiling out loud, reading your story about the Sad Queen and her song. And her sister trying to make her laugh.   I would have been the same as you......cracking up.  Kids are so much fun.  Thanks for sharing that story.   I still have that relationship with my sisters. We spend all our time laughing.  When yours are all grown up.....they'll talk about these silly times and laugh some more.

Well, my grandson got home from Bend ok.  They had to drive up to Portland and then down to get home.  It was a loooong trip.

I tried to take more pics of the pups today, but I'm sure having a hard time.  They are white, and unless I focus out the window or some other bright place, I can't get the picture dark enough.  I'll try again later.

Janet, your sleep "habits" sure sound like mine.  Then after a week, I sort of crash and sleep all day to catch up. Last night was one of those nights and I've been tired today.

Larry,  I sure want you to find an answer to your dropping blood sugar.  Maybe Ruth Ann' s suggestion will work for you.   I've always read that it's the fast rise in blood sugar that then causes it to fall rapidly.  Is that so?  Ruth Ann, do you know?   Our bodies are sure complicated, arent' they?  And no part working indepentantly.

Liz, I looked at your snow pictures.  I like the picture of the trees over the houses.  That's pretty.

Mike, no pain after back surgery is a miracle. :)  Prasie God.

Annie

Pat, I just wanted to pop in here and pass on my love and thoughts for you today.

I know I've posted my poem to you somewhere else and I know you'll read it, but I wanted to post it here too. I hope that's ok.

Life is a journey down a long winding track
Is it one way? or can we come back?
Where did it start? where does it end?
The one thing that matters is that we have a friend.

A friend to walk and share the view,
To share what's old, to share what's new.
To be there when you're happy, to be there when you're sad,
A friend to share the good times and bad.

So this is what i say to you
I'm always here to help you get through.
When days are dark and all you feel is pain
Walk down the road through the refreshing rain.

Because after a short walk with a special friend
You'll eventually come to the rainbows end.
Where the sun shines strong and seems so bright
And soon you'll realise everything will be alright.

You'll get through the feeling of overwhelming pain
Just like you get through a shower of rain.
The mist will clear and you'll see the view
And your friend will be with you enjoying it too.

When you share the view with that special friend
You know the pain will soon be at an end
The sun will come out, a new phase is born
And you'll wake the next day to a sunny morn

Life goes on whichever road you take
With it's up's and down's and choices to make
Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong
But whatever the choice, the road is long

It's best not to travel alone on that road
Take a friend along to share the load
I'll be that friend when times are bad
And then I'll remind you of the good times you've had.

Pat I am thinking of you today with love!
I had an extremely full weekend so I was not able to get on here to post.  I did come on last night to read everyone else's but by the thime I was done I was too exhausted to share anything myself.
All day Saturday I was at a bridal show with my two sisters and mom as my younger sister just recently got in engaged.  The I had to go directly to my church for our Kick off to the Purpose Driven Life course.  We socialized and watched a 90 minute viedo by Rick Warren (the autor of the book)  which was a amazing.  It was so powerful and moving, I can think of many people who would benefit just from hearing that alone.  I have a brought a friend into the course her name is Tammy so please pray for her as she will be getting to know God for the first time in her life but is starting to realize that she needs him.......Praise God for that!!
Yesterday after church I had to make a meal for a family of the church who has the husband in the hospital and then from there it was off to see the musical production Mama Mia in Toronto for a friends 30 th birthday.  So like I said it was an extremely busy weekend but I did read everyone's postings and there was not only some excellent devotionals but it seems everyone had something to share that was very inspiring.  Loved it!!
Have a blessed day everone!!
Carrie

Carrie

Really should have proof read my post first.........sorry for all the errors, like I said I am quite exhausted from this weekend!!!   LOL

Annie your poem is beautiful.

Pat my prayers are with you today.

Thank you Brother Al for the devotional t this morning.

Larry I do hope you are better today and thet the drops in your blood sugar soon stop. I working with Diabetics in my jobs I know that these thing are quite scary even for those around you. When Gloria would have a low blood sugar it was  very scary for her as she was afraid she would go into a coma.

Nita Do you use the flash or turn it off. I have found that turning off the flash will sometimes work so the photo is not overly bright. Better that it is dark because you can fix that in PSP. Or in your editing program.

Carrie our new pastor, who starts next week, has some great ideas about using everyone in our church is some sort of ministry like those described in the PDL. He wants to work with each of us to find out what our particular ministry is.

Be back later.

Good morning.

Mike, I am glad your wife is doing well after surgery.  I hope she continues to feel better.  Sorry about the extra expense with the tickets.

Judy Mc, you are up and going early this morning, or was it late last night.

Pat, I can’t believe it has been four years today.  The memorial is beautiful.  I especially enjoyed the picture of all the “cousins.”

Annie, thanks for sharing your poem.

Also it is good to see Nita, Carrie, T Bear, Marilyn, and Jen this morning.

We had especially good services yesterday.  Our budget for 2005 with plans for this year were presented.  We are excited about all the projects and challenges  which confront us and the great things God is doing.

Al, thanks for the devotional this morning.

Hi everyone.

Thanks for the expressions of ocncern.  Actually I believe the blood sugar is spiking rather than falling.  The doctor told me this could be caused from an adreline rush, although have no idea what might have caused such a rush.  I was very tired all day yesterday and spent a lot of time in bed resting, slept well all night, but am feeling exhausted this morning.  I know it is just a matter of time and this will pass away.  Fast Eddie, I can certainly relate to your comments, although I am very fortunate and usually have few aches and pains on a daily basis.

We have another beautiful day here in Georgia and will get into the high 60's today with a clear sky.  Tomorrow is our winter registration for our computer classes at the Learning Center.  I am sitting in for the treasurer tomorrow, who has had hip surgery and is not yet able to attend.  It is an easy job as I just collect any cash payments and issue a receipt.  If they pay by check I don't have to do anything until the registration is over.

Gina has sent me a list of several books for our Book Exchange (which has been dormant for quite awhile).  I will make a posting here when I get them displayed in the proper place so you all can check them out.

I have read all the postings but just don't feel up to writing a lot at the moment.

Pat, I am thinking of you today.

Thank you for your prayers.  Donna & I were having our devotions this morning and I mentioned to her how much better I feel today than yesterday.  Then it dawned on me (Ya Big Dummy) that people had prayed for me.....it works it works.

PAT:  Today is a special day for.  I wish I could say I know how you feel, but I can't.  I can just say that I will lift you up in prayer and the our Mighty God will supply all of your needs.....

That He would cradle you in His loving arms and rock you and talk to you in that special way that a loving parent talks to their little baby....not so much with words, but with cooing noises and humming a song while holding you gently and rocking you to sleep.  As Red Skelton would have said, "And may God bless."

Oh, and Pat:  Thanks for the song.

Busy Monday, have a bunch of calls to make, have to take my Mom to the eye doctor in Garden in preparation for her second cataract surgery tomorrow...........puff, pant.

Larry, I hope you feel much better soon.

Fast Eddie, good to hear you are feeling better.

Mike, that is wonderful that your wife had no pain after back surgery.  When Beth had that done, she just never did recover, and now has several more ruptured duscs in her back.  Give your wife our love, will you?  That sounds like a lot to pay for changing your tickets!  Wow!

Gina, your story about the sad queen is so cute!  These are children you babysit, right?  Or are they your own?  I love kids' imiginations.

Pat----love, prayers and hugs going your way today.  Remember, there are so many who love you.  I know it isn't enough to fill the void, but hope it helps you feel cherished.  (Because you are.)

I must run, I'm behind schedule already.

Pat, my prayers are with you today.

Larry!  NO!  Not bringing this cat into the house.  >:(  I did take a letter to the mailbox and the cat is still in the basement window well.  No, I may be hunted down by the animal activists but I am not taking in this cat.  He still has food out but no much left.

Church was wonderful.  As I stated before both the Senior minister and the Teen minister are preaching on the same subject for the next two years.  They both covered the same Bible verses and topics.  Really enriching to hear this from both ministers....same views but spoken different.  Funny when Danny, the Teen minister, would speak directly to teens but mention 'the old' people, too!  He is a God-send for our church.

Pat, when I clicked on Jack's Memorial, I was reminded that my Mom has been gone 4 years, the 7th.   Then January 13th is another big day for me.  I can't remember if I read it here or one of my morning devotionals where it stated 'A Christian's death is a happy time'.  I am owning that statement.  I am sad that Mom and Dad and my husband is gone but happy that they are happy.

A gloomy day today.  Not too cold though.  Tonight is Small Groups again.  I have sure missed us not meeting due to the hustle bustle of the Christmas Season.  I am anxious to get back in the grind.

Good devotional this morning.Pat Your are in my thoughts and Prayers .I am glad for your wife that she is not having any pain sorry they charged so much to change your tickets over Mike.I may be having more back surgery so I hope for better results than the first time.Fogy out today and yucky looking.I am getting Johns belated package ready to send to him along with a long, long from my heart letter with several real corny poems,I only hope when he reads them he buckles hisself in his chair so he doesn't fall out and hurt himself laughing so hard at my effort of poem writting.I am paying off my car  and then selling it to my nephew,I don't even know what he and his parents are giving me for it.Meika is in saeson again so far the male dog has not shown his face so maybe  he won't this time as I don't want any puppies this time of year anyway.I'd like to have a kitten tho  a good mouser would be nice to have.I got to go on a big time diet and lose all the weight I gained from the holidays and because of the steroid,I wish it would stop with the weight gain and making me swell up.well I am going to go try and get some emails written and also have to look for Christmas cards that for some reason did not get sent or anyway looks like they may not of,my friend in Canada is still waiting for hers.Take care and God Bless you all ,cya later,Beth

Personal Life: Longing After God

Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me
now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your
sight....
--Exodus 33:13

Come near to the holy men and women of the past and you will soon
feel the heat of their desire after God. They mourned for Him,
they prayed and wrestled and sought for Him day and night, in
season and out, and when they had found Him the finding was all
the sweeter for the long seeking. Moses used the fact that he knew
God as an argument for knowing Him better. "Now, therefore, I pray
thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way,
that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight;" and from
there he rose to make the daring request, "I beseech thee, show me
thy glory." God was frankly pleased by this display of ardor, and
the next day called Moses into the mount, and there in solemn
procession made all His glory pass before him.  The Pursuit of
God, 15.

"Does anyone today know anything about that heat of desire after
You, God? I'm not reading or hearing much that comes close, though
thankfully there are a few exceptions. Restore to us today this
deep longing, I pray in Jesus' name. Amen."
