Morning Devotional... (Anna) coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of Him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. Luke 2:38
Anna's first words were heavenward. With sincere appreciation, she thanked the Lord for the advent of the long-awaited Christ, of whom Simeon had just spoken.
In thus rendering her thanks, Anna was spiritually attuned for testifying of Him to "all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem."
She established a "God first" priority--a perfect example for effective witnessing!

The brief hours are not lost in which ye learn
More of your Master and His rest in heaven.

Hi there Pat.............
We haven't chatted in a long time.
Nita............
Marilyn may be right about Doris Day, but she wasn't the original one to sing it. You are correct, it was in fact Rosemary C. Ya gotta remember Nita, Marilyn's a kid and wasn't around then. ;D
I have a request of you folks. My granddaughter is now in Iraq. I'd sure appreciate a few prayers for her safety. She isn't a Christian, and if you'd include asking the Lord to send a few messengers her way, and that her eyes and ears would be opened, I'd be most grateful.
11.05AM in Holland GOOD MORNING
PAT thank you for the devotional this morning and the links also for the photo's from your dentist very good.
CHRIS thank you for what you have writen yesterday evening on CP about John 6 : 3
very good. I have read it this morning yesterday evening we have been to a birthday party and i have take a look on CP. But i can English better understand in the morning then late in the evening. But you are very good brother.
RUTHIE yes you have snow we have all days rain also today but our springflowers are standing in the garden and that is making me happy now we can see that the springtime is coming.
Yesterday i have writen that i sometimes
specially in the winter am depressed but on this moment i am no more depressed in that times i read a lot in the Bible and i read Poems and i pray. But here is always one Bible verse they i first read and that is this:
MATTHEW 11: 28 NIV
Come to me all you are weatery and burdened
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
PEACE WITHIN YOUR LOVE
Lord, still the clamor of our days
and calm our rushing anxious ways.
In silence, teach us how to praise -
give us peace within Your love.
LEE i pray for your granddaughter who is now in Iraq i pray also that God may open here eyes
so that she will find the way to Him.

"...the result of desiring My will only, in every detail, and then the realization of the wonderful way I can act for you when you leave the planning to Me.
Truly all things, every detail in each day, do work together for good to those who love Me. My miracle working power can become operative when there is no "kicking against the pricks," no thwarting of My Will.
Whether you walk here on earth, or are free from earth's limitations in My Heaven, it is Heaven to walk with Me."(2 Listeners)
I feel strongly that there is a message here for someone:-
Do not kick against the pricks dear brother
A Blessed and love-filled weekend dear ones.

Hey to all of you! The two sweethearts of the Shuford house are still asleep, so I'm working on some programming and web stuff...
Hope all of you have a great day! Focus on Jesus!
Nard
Bernard
It always gives me "warm fuzzies" when you talk about your lovely wife and son. It is wonderful to know a young man who really loves his family and God Bless you dear lad.
Just popped in for a quick spot check and I felt I ought to say a word to Bernard. He is a special brother. It is good to encourage family values.
Luv U All
Hi everyone. It looks like another beautiful day here in the south. As I came home from coffee I saw on the bank that it was 40 degrees and it is a bit overcast today.
Not much on my schedule for today so will putter around on my computer. A friend of mine just got a new computer delivered and he may call me to come over and help him set it up later today. It is always enjoyable to work with a new computer.
Lee, I will be praying for your granddaughter as she serves in Iraq.
Marilyn, as Nita and Lee have indicated it was Rosemary Clooney who made that song famous.
JudyB, Pat, Jeanne, Judy M and all those experiencing the very cold weather I do hope you are being able to stay warm and that this spell breaks soon.
Liz, I think cats do just what they want to do all the time, at least ours does. He is spoiled and has us well trained with certain rituals that he wants observed. He also has an internal clock and about 11:30 am and 4:30 pm he starts in nagging us by doing things that annoy to get us to feed him. ::)
Pat, seeing your dental school pictures reminded me of my experience years ago at the Kansas City Dental School where I spent many hours having my teeth worked on by students. They did fine work but I really got tired of all those hours in the dental chair. Their facility looked very much like your pictures.
Marilyn, my wife is making patchwork quilts all the time. She has put together many block. I think she will probably make lap quilts to give away to the nursing home or to our adult day-care center. Her quilting group at church are busy making neck pillows to be given to our folks during hospital stays. They recently made little quilted hearts that the parish nurse can give to shut-ins in nursing homes and during her calls to those in the hospitals. Glad you like doing handiwork to keep you busy when you feel like doing it. That was a very nice gesture of the two girls who stayed at your place to leave you food in the refrigerator. God is certainly taking good care of you.
Karma, thanks for the suggestion about using the pennies to keep track of laps at the gym. I hadn't thought about using something like that but it is a good idea.
Just a thought on defrag of Windows XP. If that was not suppose to be done why would they have put that function in the software. I have done it on my computer without consequence and had never heard that said before. It really isn't logical that it should not be done occasionally. However, I am certainly no expert on that.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day enjoying the many blessings that God has provided to us.
Judy Mc, the scripture you asked about is:
James 1:5-7 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; (NIV)
Sorry I didn't indicate where it is.
Pat, about the two headed snake they always say that two heads are better than one.
Larry, I thought of the same thing. I haven't seen any warning on defraging XP in the literature.

Personal Life: The Need for Solitude
And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain
by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.
--Matthew 14:23
Modern civilization is so complex as to make the devotional life all
but impossible. It wears us out by multiplying distractions and
beats us down by destroying our solitude, where otherwise we might
drink and renew our strength before going out to face the world
again.
"The thoughtful soul to solitude retires," said the poet of other
and quieter times; but where is the solitude to which we can retire
today? Science, which has provided men with certain material
comforts, has robbed them of their souls by surrounding them with a
world hostile to their existence. "Commune with your own heart upon
your bed and be still" is a wise and healing counsel, but how can
it be followed in this day of the newspaper, the telephone, the
radio and the television? These modern playthings, like pet tiger
cubs, have grown so large and dangerous that they threaten to
devour us all. What was intended to be a blessing has become a
positive curse. No spot is now safe from the world's intrusion.
Of God and Men, 125.
"If Tozer wrestled with this in his day, how much more are we
bombarded today! We have all the influences of which he speaks, and
much more all-pervasive, plus the internet and a host of other
'playthings' seeking to devour us. Lord, help us somehow to escape
today and retire to solitude, even if only for a brief time. Amen."
My new book purchases are:
"Walking the Bible" by Bruce Feiler - it is A Journey by Land throught the five books of Moses & a Bestseller book.
"Grace for the Moment" by Max Lucado
"The Prayer of Jabez" bible study by Bruce Wilkinson - a very small paperback.
Lee: Of course, I will add your granddaughter who is serving in Iraq to my prayers.
Here in the states, the news is filled with junk - all the political hubbub in Iowa - and other high-profile people coming up for trials. We just don't seem to have any normal news anymore and it certainly isn't interesting.
It sounds very chilly in parts of our world now - take care all. Carol
Father, remember Lee and his, and our, prayers for his grandaughter, we ask for many witnesses there to present to her Your Gospel, and to keep her safe, amen.
QuoteLord, help us somehow to escape
today and retire to solitude, even if only for a brief time. Amen."
Chris: your message is right on target and just what I have been thinking about. All this frenzy and hype over such silliness. I guess that I am thinking about the adoration of people going to trial for beastly accusations. Thanks for summing it up and for your sweet prayer.
Carol
Weeeeeell Carol,
I guess if some folks spent more time with the Lord, instead of dancing on the roof of their auto, they wouldn't be in that terrible state. lol.
If only people read Scripture and acted upon God's Word, how much heartache they could spare themselves!
I dont usually post a photo here, but this seems apt.

Marilyn ~ Please do take it easy. Vacuuming is one of the hardest things to do after surgery. Do go slow and let your body tell you what you can do and not do. If the dog hairs get to be too much then put on sunglasses!!!!! As for checking in on MSN IM...I did that once and that person wasn't suppose to be on that particular computer. Now I know you are home again.
Papa John ~ Hello! Now I am really puzzled. Should we defrag or not defrag Windows XP. Tony, my son, says that 'Disc Defragmenter' is on Windows XP. My analysis is if you aren't suppose to defrag, why would it be on Windows XP? Well, if you don't have to do it as often, then that still would be a great time saver. Tell Cornelia hi for me.
Ruthie ~ Ha! I thought Inky was really smart because she was learning what 'No!' means. Now she is really smart because she is learning to ignore the word 'No!' ;) :-\ ;) :-\ Now if I could get her to stop chasing my feet in bed. Ouch! That hurts. :'( :'( Both of my cats are indoor cats. Inky, I think would go out but Ali trembles when I carry her on the deck. Ali is a scaredy-cat!!!! Inky is bolder and braver than Ali ever thought of being. Maybe she is a he after all!!!!
Pat ~ Thank you for the link. I have a feeling that I will use this link. I also I have a feeling that I use my pc more than Tony and Kevin. They listen to music and email. Well, Kevin does some of his schooling online. Anyway, I think I will know if it become sluggish and needs 'cleaned up'.
Ali is crying quietly but consistently. She is thirsty! Hmmm! Little Inky can jump up on the countertop. She is watching Ali drink.
Defragging XP ~ I think I am eating my words. :-[ :-[I was just repeating what I had heard from people. Now, I feel totally different. I sent the link to Tony and Kevin that Pat posted! Maybe Kevin's college should have it also. Thanks to all for your input.
I have been 'in the quiet'. I love being with people but I also love being by myself. To do my own thing. No TV. No radio. Just quiet. Like recharging my battery!!!»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«,¸¸,»ïÏï«

I stand corrected, yes it was Rosemary Clooney. NOw I remember that. Thanks Lee, Larry and Chris for the reminders.
Another beautiful California day with rain expected by tomorrow. I know that Nita and Jane are experiencing the same mild weather. I am praying for all who are in the fridgid cold of NOrth America. I am also praying for the homeess people who have no place to go.
Lee I am praying for your grandaughter and I will put her on the prayer chain with my church family here.
I have a nice conversation with JudyMc last night. I just love my CP family, so loving and kind. Now I have heard the voices of Janet, Pat, RuthAnn and JudyMc.
WEll I am hurting this morning where I have the pinched nerve, ( I pray that is all it is), So I will go look at Pat's dental photos, and check SN then get off the computer.

It is a good -15*C today. The temp has gone up somewhat. Never thought I would be happy with -15* ! ! !
Imagine Ria has her spring flowers coming up! Wow Ria enjoy them and remember us here in the deep freezer.
Chris That picture is beautiful. The verse is a favourite as well.
Well picking John up today. So have to go.
Bye for now

Judy, the Hydrangeas in Gilberts front yard a beginning to bloom and my forget me nots are budding also.

hmmmm, got this in my email a few days ago and thought now might be a good time to post it.
QuoteJust in case you might think of Iraq as "only" an oil rich nation, ruled by an evil dictator for 30 years, whether it has been supporting terrorists or may not be very important, here are a few important facts regarding the important history and roles that this nation has played down through history *
IRAQ -- VERY INTERESTING -- DID YOU KNOW??????
1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq. (it sure doesn't look much like Paradise on earth today thanks to Saddam)
2. Mesopotamia which is now Iraq was the cradle of civilization!
3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.
4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.
5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!
6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor which is in Iraq.
7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.
8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in Iraq.
9. Assyria which is in Iraq conquered the ten tribes of Israel.
10. Amos cried out in Iraq!
11. Babylon which is in Iraq destroyed Jerusalem.
12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq!
13. The 3 Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (that's good news to know that JESUS has been in Iraq too as the 4th person in the fiery furnace)!
14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq (which hopefully Saddam will too)!
15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq.
16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.
17. The wise men were from Iraq. (where are the "wise" men today)?
18. Peter preached in Iraq.
19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon which was a city in Iraq!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots. Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.
Hello all!
Speaking of second cats. (Well, Etta was, anyway). Last night my sister called and asked if we could keep a cat in our basement. Apparently, one showed up in their barn. We don't know if it is lost or if was purposely set out. It is a beautiful white, long-haired thing. We would keep it, but it has been declawed, so it absolutely cannot stay outside. And, it can't stay inside our house because in just a few minutes of being around it last night, my eyes were itching like mad. Bingo, the Alpha Cat, is having fits, even though they have not seen eachother. The funny part, is that the white one is the exact opposite of Bingo -- like Inky and Ali. The white one loves people, loves to be petted, is friendly and sweet. bingo is, well, Bingo is not those things. :-\
I hope someone claims it/gets it by Monday, or it will go to the pound. :'(
It is a cloudy, rather cool day today, and I have done nothing. Bernard, on the other hand, has worked like a little Trojan. Good thing one of us does, I guess.
Wonder how Janet is enjoying Fantasy Island?? (The island Roatan where she is is where they filmed the series Fantasy Island).
take care all. I'm gonna go look at some pictures.
This morning I took some photos of only one of my many hobbies. I spent and hour and a half on the phone with a very close friend of mine. She had received a voice mail saying I was going to the hospital that I left before I went. We had a lot of catching up to do.
I see we haven't been very busy here today. Come on you people lets get going here. I saw Jane on line earlier.
TTYL
This is for some one special and you know who you are. My name on Yahoo is Imablessed.
I am trully blessed.
THANK YOU
Yesterday I was looking at a text I am preparing for a Wednesday night lesson I have been asked to present. I thought I would share with you some of the thoughts. The passage is:
Phil 4:4-7 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV)
I plan to talk about why we should rejoice every day as Christians. We need to be characterized with gentleness. The Lord IS near. Paul said he is not far from each one of us. So we ought not be anxious but talk with God about our problems. The result will be the "peace of God" will guard our hearts.
I hope you all have a good night's rest and that you will have a good Lord's day tomorrow.
--- Papa John ;D <:))))><<
JudyB, we did even better than you today. We got up to +15F (-12C) and when I went out this afternoon it didn't feel cold at all, after having those days that never reached zero. ;D
Tomorrow and Monday are supposed to be around +20 - should feel absolutely balmy!
Gene's finally starting to feel a little better - he ate a "normal" supper tonight after four nights of just a small bowl of vegetable or chicken rice soup. Of all times not to have any homemade soup in the freezer - but even that might have been kind of heavy for him, with everything I add to it. By tomorrow he'll probably be restless and wish he could go outdoors, but he's agreed to stay inside at least until we see the doctor again on Monday.
Hi Pat, Thank you for the link about Andrew Murray. I am very interested in reading about his messages. Andrew Murray was the founder of AEF or Africa Evangelical Fellowship that Kamyl and Lorraine went to Mauritius under. Andrew Murray writes many wonderful books and devotionals.
Wow, maybe that two-headed snake is a siamese snake!
Hi Lee.....For sure, I will pray for your granddaughter, for her safety and for her salvation. God can send a Christian to her side to talk about the Lord and of course the Holy Spirit can speak to her heart.
Hi Ria....Glad to hear that the Bible reading helps with depression. That was a nice poem you wrote. I have a little poem that is in a frame on my wall:
The Robin and the Sparrow
Said the Robin to the Sparrow,
"I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so."
Said the Sparrow to the Robin,
"Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no Heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me."
"Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows."
Love You
Hi Jenny.....thank you for your encouraging words.
Larry....my cats do the same thing. My big cat named Jolson jumps on the bed and around my head and runs down the stairs. He keeps on doing that until I let him outside. And he will go outside in the freezing weather in the middle of the night.
Chris....yes, I will try to get alone with the Lord, away from all the stuff today. Thank you for the music. It is lovely.
Hi Etta Sue....I have 4 cats. I didn't plan it that way, but Katie had 4 kittens, I gave away 2 and couldn't get rid of 2 so I kept them. Jolson, Katie, Rusty and Lily. That's the whole family!
Hi Marilyn....please take it easy. You wouldn't want a relapse. I can hardly wait to see my "forget me nots", but spring is a long way off here.
Karma.....I do wish I could see that lovely white cat. I would probably take it home with me. But then there might be a cat fight at home.
Thank you Papa John for the little bible study on Phil 4: 4-7. When I get anxious, I am reminded that God said not to be anxious, but in everything talk to Him and the peace of God will be with me.
God Bless You All
Love Ruthie ;)
Ruthie, if I had a easy, economical, efficient, and/or legal way to get her to you, she would be yours. We have nicknamed her BD (don't ask). My sister is going to take her to the pet store owner/groomer where they take their Maltese to be groomed. Hoping she can find an owner for it. Precious little kitty. For someone else!
:P
Well :) We do not have too many posting today. I made my plans early this morning to do:
1. Bible & prayer first
2. Get my bank statement and finances straight on the computer.
3. Go on-line at CP and catch up some
4. Wash & dry clothes
5. Vacuum and dust most of the house (it's been over 2 weeks!)
Guess what :) I onlyl finished No. ! Then I got a call to go to town and grocery shop, after that another person wanted to go to town and grocery shop.
Visited with friends, etc. Then the day was gone.
Now look at the time!
Tomorrow after church...vacuum here I come!
Have a blessed LORD's day.
love, kathy :-*
Papa John - Thanks so much for putting the bible reference in for me. I should have known it was from the book of James.... as remember studying from that book just last year.
James and Romans are probably my most favourite books.... oh yes and of course John!
Marilyn - I just loved speaking with you last night. I'd love to get speaking with some others of my CP family., sooo if you are reading this, and would email me your phone number.... I will call you!
Now I may regret making all those long distant calls when the bill comes in., but I'll worry about that later.
L.,
Judy
Speaking of cats...
I have 2 - one black and white - tuxedo, and one white with a red stripped tail and some red markings on his head. They are as unalike in personality as they are in color. The black one is laaiid back and nonchalant. I call the white one my hyperactive child. He's always on the move. Neither cat is allowed in the bedroom with me at night. I need my sleep and I KNOW Bonz would chase my feet and I'd never get a good nights rest! When I got Bonz he was a boney stray - that's where he got the name... but now he's Bonz-no-more!
We seem to be on the topic of pets! well Elizabeth has a pet teddybear hamster. It has had constant cronic eye infections. Melaura picked it up tonight to pet it and felt something hard and pointed in the eye area. She picked and petted till she pulled out a piece of wood shavings. A bit of animal eye ointment and we hope it will be alright. That reminds me of a verse about the splinter in the eye. Papa John can you tell us where that is found?
John came home from his trip today and has a dose of Chandrya's flu ot a touch of food poisoning. Please keep him in your prayers, as he is supposed to go back out on Monday.
I am off to bed. See y'all tomorrow
JudyB
I'm early tonight but I'd like to retire for the night and get ready for the Lord's Day.
Tomorrow is Anthony's birthday and Kevin's Birthday (Ruthie's son) so if you look in tomorrow, Anthony, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
