Morning Devotional...Personal Life:
Stay in the Secret Place
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up. --Psalm 5:3
Retire from the world each day to some private spot, even if it be only the bedroom (for a while I retreated to the furnace room for want of a better place). Stay in the secret place till the surrounding noises begin to fade out of your heart and a sense of God's presence envelops you. Deliberately tune out the unpleasant sounds and come out of your closet determined not to hear them.
Listen for the inward Voice till you learn to recognize it. Stop trying to compete with others. Give yourself to God and then be what and who you are without regard to what others think. Reduce your interests to a few. Don't try to know what will be of no service to you. Avoid the digest type of mind--short bits of unrelated facts, cute stories and bright sayings. Learn to pray inwardly every moment. After a while you can do this even while you work. Practice candor, childlike honesty, humility. Pray for a single eye. Read less, but read more of what is important to your inner life. Never let your mind remain scattered for very long.
Call home your roving thoughts. Gaze on Christ with the eyes of your soul. Practice spiritual concentration.
Dr. Tozer in Of God and Men, 128-129."Lord, I need all of these practical suggestions. Direct me today to those things that would most enhance my walk with you, and enable me to serve You better. Amen."(https://www.christianphotographers.com/forum/graphics/musicbar.gif)
Cleanse Me (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/now.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from ev'ry sin and set me free.
I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within.
Fill me with fire where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.
Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord--in me abide.
O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival--start the work in me.
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

Wow, I am finally on the internet! Have had a very stressful day. BUT GOD IS ABLE! All through the hectic day, 3 of us went to St. Michaels Hospital and led a poor sick 33 year old man to the Lord! So praise God!
Love Ruthie ;D
I'm so glad that your internet is back, Ruthie. Great to have you posting.
So nice to know about your trip to St. Michael's too. Wonderful news.
Thank you Pat.
If you live in Canada, please vote next Monday. I'm so glad to see that the Conservative Party are gaining. God Bless.
Love Ruthie
Yes, Voting is Monday. I really dislike the election fever and all the mud slinging that goes with it. Why can't the candidates deal with the issues without the mudslinging?
We have a fine snow coming down. Southern Ontario is in for weather too. The temp is 0*C yet it feels much colder. I just lit the wood furnace, and hopefully the house warms up quickly. ;D
Today at the girls school (elementary) it is pajama day. Am I old fashioned?? :-\ I believe pajamas belong in the bedroom and not paraded out at school, shopping malls or on the street. :o Any Comments?
John is coming home today! :D and leaving tomorrow. :(
Well got to go Have a blessed day.
Ruthie - I know I'll be showing my ignorance about this, but - is your conservative party at all analagous to our Republican party here - conservative in the sense of wanting to keep truly constitutional government and to avoid socialism as much as possible?
Pat, that is one of the best devotionals I have read in a while! Probably because it speaks to the issues I am dealing with in my life at this time. I just feel too scattered.
Ruthie, I have been thinking of you. I had to take down the lovely calendar of Niagara Falls you gave me, time was up! :( But It surely didn't go in the trash. It's a keeper. God bless.
Judy, I agree. We stopped in an Applebee's not to long ago and the servers were all in pajamas. I found it not at all appealing nor attractive. Yes, I am old-fashioned, and proud of it, if that means keeping some modesty and sense of propriety in our behavior and dress.
Larry, I'm sorry your daughter's condition is not improving. It sounds as if we have very similar burdens to bear. Beth will be home tomorrow........
My friend Pat is coming out after while and we are going to make hand-made cards together. Fun! Later, Darrel is going to Hugoton to work on re-installing the alarm in Jeff's and Diane's store, and he will bring Abby home with him, thus saving me a trip to pick her up.... :) She wanted me to come to school with her today, but it is snowing, and I prefer to stay home today.
Last night, Abby made cookies in her Easy Bake Oven, then she and I played Mexican Train Dominoes, then she made some brownies in the big oven, got into her pajamas, then read to me and I to her.......and by then her Daddy came home, and I came on home too. ;D She is really ready and wanting to learn to cook, and can read the directions, so will be a big help to her Mom.
John emailed me a photo of Beth holding Mieka. Mieka is wearing a Santa hat with antlers, and he labeled it "The newest member of the Red Hat Society." (For those who don't remember, Mieka is Beth's little chihuahua dog. ^-^
Gotta go, laundry to do!

Good morning All! I had a semi-busy day yesterday and didn't get back in after posting the devotional. It is pleasing to me that you all enjoyed the devotional.
All the snow is melted now. A nice warm, sunny day yesterday and the snow is gone. Now they are predicting rain today! Watch out, Basement! You may get flooded!
Kitty called me last evening and we decided to have a night out. I went to her house and then we went to Pizza King for cokes! No food....just drinks! I can't remember when I ever did that. It was really nice and I also saw many other people there that I hadn't seen or talked to for years! A very nice evening indeed. Kitty's birthday is Sunday so the evening was for her birthday.
Janet ~ I agree...I wish there was a way to post photos so that more people would comment. Seems like a waste of time when you share them with others and others don't comment. My opinion and I know it is a broken record but that's the way I feel!
Pat ~ Glad you enjoy my animations. I love those moving graphics. Especially now that I know how to make them smaller and can compress them to less volume.
I am sorry for not commenting to everyone but I also am glad you liked Ivalou's snacks! Wasn't the Sausage Cheese Balls good?
Time to move on....<OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo> <OO> <oo>

Good Morning:
Ithink I read that devotional yesterday in one of Chris's posts. However it is worth reading again.
Etta Sue and Janet I agree with you about the photos. I haven't even posted our Christmas photos and haven't bothered to resize them yet either. Just figured no one would be interested.
Janet: Savannah and Forest like to cook too. at christmas they helped to roll out the dough for the home made hot rolls, cut them and put them onthe cookie sheet.
I need to dot hat more often with the kids. It wasn't me they were helping it was Sarah.
Not a busy day today at work, all I have tod o at Versal's is to dust and fix her something to eat. At Fay's just fix her lunch.
Fay has been telling me that she wants me to buy her some meat and she will pay me back by putting extra hours on my time sheet. But that is illegal and I am not going to do that. I don't even buy much meat for myself and never buy red meat. She says because I eat there she want me to buy her meat. No way. Not gonna do it.
TTYL
Hi everyone. Have spent the morning, after coffee at the senior center, meeting here at my house with one of the men who has offered to help me with the webpages I do for the Learning Center and the PC User Group. He has some experience so it isn't startiing from scratch. We had a nice morning.
Later this afternoon I am going to Rod's house with the lady who is our Learning Center President and very involved in our user group for a planning meeting. We are trying to come up with interesting programs.
It is another nice and warm day here although it is overcast. These warm days really help with the heating bill.
I am one of the persons who seldom seems to find the time to look at the photos, although I always enjoy them when I do take the time. We should probably focus on the number of views of the photos more than the comments since many of us viewing the photos may not feel we are really qualified to offer comments other than to say we enjoyed them.
Marilyn, stick with your position with your lady. What she is suggesting is troublesome and certainly wrong.
Welcome to our new members.
Etta Sue, it is nice to just spend time with a good friend as you did yesterday. Don't necessarily have to be doing anything significant to have a good time.
Janet, I certainly agree with you and JudyB on proper dress. What can people be thinking.
Ruthie, glad to see you back online.
Pat, thanks for the devotional today.
Papa John, sounds like your weather is like ours except we are not having the winds.
Sue, at least you know what to expect on election day since you have worked the polls before.
I'm sorry y'all are upset by comments on the photos.
I just went there and looked at our gallery.
I clicked on
"Last Comments". There are
25 comments per page and there are
103 pages of comments! So multiply that out! I think that's great.
All of
Janet's photos have at least
3 or 4 PER PHOTO!!! That's many more than if they were posted in a topic in here and each person viewed all of them and then posted one comment.
So, come on folks!
Cheer up! If you all go in and click on the
"Last Uploads" button, you'll see the photos that were last uploaded to our site and most are all nice and large so that we can see them so much better than when we had to use 500 pixels as our largest size.
And if you want to see what the last comments were that were posted in there, click on the
"Last Comments" button.
If you want to see the last comments
in your own gallery, go to
"My Gallery" and then click on
"Last Comments" and you'll see all of the comments that folks have left you.
ENJOY YOUR GALLERY, FOLKS!!!
EDIT: Just thought I'd do some counting and just for an example, I used Janet's fantastic vacation photos.
She uploaded
14 photosThere are
81 comments in those 14 photos
There are
185 views. In other words those 14 photos were clicked on to look at 185 times.
There is absolutely no way in our old way of showing photos would we even have had 81 comments posted for 14 photos posted.
The least number of comments is 4 on 3 of these photos and one has 9 comments and one has 8 and the others between 4 and 9
So, again, this is great!
OK Pat I am a little confused. How do you comment on a person's photos? I have looked at the photo's and have not figured that out. If I am having problems sorting it out there may be others. So if you can tell us how to leave comments I for one would appreciate it.
The northers area between here and Sudbury is supposed to be good for Monday, ellection day.
As to whether the PC party is like your Republican party, I don't know. All I do know is that we need a change, The PC's seem to stand up for family and family values. There are many PC candidates who profess Jesus Christ as Saviour, but the telling is in the fruit.
WEll Girls will be home soon.
God bless
Judy, all you do is go down below the photo and start typing on the liine where it says "Add Your Comment" and then use your enter key and it will post.
Under each photo, you will see 4 or 5 little thumbnail-sized photos and then below that are all the comments.

Thanks for the welcome. On the other side of the world, havin' my morning cup, kevin. :coffee:
Thanks, Pat ... I really don't know what the confusion is about ... I don't always comment on each photo, but that's usually because, as Larry said, I don't feel qualified to say anything more than I like it! :-[
I appreciate all the effort and work you have put into making this a great site for everyone ... professional to peon (like me) ...
How are you feeling today? Hopefully "all better" ... you have so much that needs your attention but YOU need to come FIRST! OK? :)
:) hello to all -its a cold but sunny day here today. I have enjoyed the devotional today-very thought provoking.
I'm of for a good walk and hopefully to go to visit a sick friend.
Praying the Lord will bless you all
Great to see you drop in here, Kevin. This is like our corner Coffee Shop. We start it over anew each night (North American night).
Enjoy your walk, Melody.
Jane, I know! It's such a great place for photos. And they sure are getting viewed.

Personal Life: Personal Discipline
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives
the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who
competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to
obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
--1 Corinthians 9:24-25
Another trap into which the preacher is in danger of falling is that
he may do what comes naturally and just take it easy. I know how
ticklish this matter is and, while my writing this will not win me
friends, I hope it may influence people in the right direction. It is
easy for the minister to be turned into a privileged idler, a social
parasite with an open palm and an expectant look. He has no boss
within sight; he is not often required to keep regular hours, so he
can work out a comfortable pattern of life that permits him to loaf,
putter, play, doze and run about at his pleasure. And many do just
that.
To avoid this danger the minister should voluntarily impose upon
himself a life of labor as arduous as that of a farmer, a serious
student or a scientist. No man has any right to a way of life less
rugged than that of the workers who support him. No preacher has any
right to die of old age if hard work will kill him. God Tells the
Man Who Cares, 94-95.
"Lord, I entered the ministry not because I considered it an easy or
prestigious job. I'm here because I was called, compelled, and
committed. Help me to work hard and faithfully today, driven by that
original sense of passion. Amen.

I am going to meet John and we are having a date night. WOOHOO it has been a long time coming. Soo I won't be back tonight.
Have a good evening everyone and a God Filled weekend.

I am originally from Louisiana, but I live and minister in Japan...across the other pond.

So, Kevin, how do you pronounce "Louisiana" properly?
Hello Kevin You are across the pond on my side of the states. I am in Northern California. Tell us about yourself. How did you come to be in Japan.

A long story...Basically, I came over as a young Marine. One Sunday in church I met my wife, Midori. A few years later we were married. After bible college in the Seattle area, God led us to Japan to pastor.
We have 2 sons, one 23, living here in Japan, and a 19-year-old in college in the San Diego area.
I enjoy spending time with my border collie, Jazz, taking pictures (new DSLR), and going on dates with my lovely wife of (almost) 28 years .
kevin
Ohh, Kevin.
I have a border collie. He's the best dog in the world (and I'm sure yours is as well! ;) )

Here is my Happy, he too is the best dog in the world.
Well, it's great there are so many places in our world for great pets to live. Didn't God to a good thing by letting us have pets to love and care for?
I've been lax about coming in because my iron level is so low I've been eating a small sandwich and lying in the bed resting until time for bedtime. Hopefully these iron tablets will begin helping me so that I'll have more energy.
I'm thankful for the weekend and reduced duties.
This has been a wonderful evening of catching up on several days worth of this wonderful discussion. Like someone else, I certainly can't respond to all the post, but understand I'm still reading as often as I can and trying to stay abreast of life in New Every Morning.
Welcome to our newcomers. My God richly bless you.
Ruth Ann
Sorry to burst your bubbles, but you see.........I have the best dogs in the world. ;D Could it be that we few here on CP are blessed enough to have found the very best critters in the world? Wow!
Never the less, I really enjoyed the pictures you posted, Pat and Marilyn of your second best dogs in the world. lol
I know we all have the best for us.........that's what makes it so wonderful.
I try to go to the photos and look at the newest posted. I did go in and look at Janet's but didn't pos,t as i saw that others had, and there were some olde rpostings from others that had no comments. Pat, I was glad to have you break it down and see that people are posting. I'm not qualified to do anything but say I like it and just make a comment. I always enjoy the pictures, but don't post on each one.
blessings, nita
Kevin, if you upload your photos, then you can use the intermediate sized one in here to post. It will be just the right size for our forums. So, upload your Jazz to your gallery on here and we can see it in two places. LOL
Pat, how do you post the photos in here? If I put something in here, I'm assured that all of our regular folks will see it, and that's nice.
I had a big girls' Play Day today! :) I invited my friend Pat out, and we spent the afternoon making cards. That was fun. We need to do it more often, and have a couple others join us. I have more stuff for that kind of thing than I can use in three lifetimes!
Darrel brought Abby, and of course she immediately set to work making a Valentine for her teacher. She is staying with Pat tomorrow while we go get Beth from the airport, as there isn't room in the car for all of us and all of Beth's stuff, plus her wheelcahir and walker. So Pat told her they will make cards tomorrow, and maybe bake and decorate sugar cookies. Sure more fun than riding in a crowded car! ;)
Kevin, Welcome! You have a digital SLR? How nice! I'd love to get one someday. My HP digital is not working and I'm not sure how to go about finding someone to repair it, and if the cost will be more than a new one. I love that camera. :'( We look forward to seeing your photos here on CP.
Abby's in the shower now, then I told her she can play games on here for 20 minutes. But she put off getting into the shower so long, it's going to be bedtime for her soon.
Ruth Ann, glad you are working fewer hours and getting more rest. Hope those iron pills do the trick.
See you tomorrow, maybe. Not sure how timing will go. The plumber did get the pipe repaired at Beth's today, re-lit the pilots on her stove and checked her furnace. I called to get her cable internet and TV and phone hooked up again yesterday, but some of that won't be done for up to 5 working days. We thought she was going to be away 6 months; if we'd known it would be only one month, we wouldn't have had her cancel them. ???
I wish I could do this :coffee: but I don't dare in the evening, or no sleep.
Etta Sue, I admire you for having so many friends and doing stuff with them. That's really good. I think I have a lot of friends, but very few who are available to go or do things with me. Wish I had more, like you!
No no no I have the best dogs in the world. Hahaha. You are right Nita we all have the best and we are blessed to have them.
Kevin As you post pictures we would love to see some of your country.
WE had a good but short date night. We are both really tired so it will be to bed. John leaves again tomorrow morning. Pat you want to go with him? He is going near your friend's home. I think that you would have a hard time getting into the truck with the pain you are in.
Well Night all
and God bless.
