Morning Devotional...

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 15:7

Just imagine for a moment going into a Superstore and the Manager met you at the door with an empty trolley, saying 'Ask me for whatever you want and I'll give it to you!'

Wow wouldn't that be good!

We are not limited today my friends to an 'omer' of manna.

There is a divine simplicity in the promise written above. Often our prayers are thwarted by our unbelief and by the complications that we add to the promise. My dear friend dare to take God at His Word today. He is faithful to all His promises.

Where else would the Christian rather be than to be abiding in Christ?  He is our refuge.  We should have great confidence when we pray to our Father.  He gave us the most precious possession that He had, namely His own Son.  He will therefore withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly. For those who abide in Him.

He awaits your petition dear brother or sister. Ask for great things! Why? Because we have a great God who hears and answers prayer.

Faith is a spiritual muscle that needs to be exercised constantly. We are to use it to fend off the fiery darts of the evil one.

Faith sees beyond the shores of this present world and views an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled which awaits the child of God.

There may be days for the child of God that seem endless with pain and misery. Their souls sigh and groan for liberty. Seems like one trial following another.

Is there no escape? Is there no rest? Is there no peace?

Like the dove there is no peace or safety for us without  the Ark.  Abiding in Christ provides a greater safety than that enjoyed by Noah and his family in the Ark!

Our strength to overcome and to persevere comes from abiding in the Beloved.  When the trials of this present life threaten to overwhelm us, let us meditate on the world to come. Let us think of Home.  An eternity with our Beloved where nothing can corrupt, where there is no more darkness or fear and no end to life.

Are you crushed in spirit today my dear friend? If so then put your faith into action and view the beauty of Immanuel's Land. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Weeping may for a night endure but at morn doth joy arise.

Iain Mackenzie

9.30 a.m. England

Iain thank you my dear brother.  This is surely one of my favourite devotionals from you.  I wish I had a printer as I would like to copy it... I will:-

Put My Faith into Action and View Emmanuel's Land

and I begin "The Whitewashed Stairs to Heaven" today dear bro.

God Bless and Keep our dear Little Mieka and safe journies for her. In Jesus Name.

It's icy cold here and a "stay-indoors" day, but I have much to do.  After lunch will be a time of intercession, bringing before Our Lord those situations which dear ones have asked me to place before the "Mercy Seat"., Oh and of course some of my own.

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

Naturally I shall be remembering all who died during the "Holocaust" as this is Holocaust Rememberance Day.I pray this may never happen again.  Lord Have Mercy.

I was up early today and saw my son off to work but I am still in my dressing gown.  I think I had best leave you all now and attend to my ablutions.  ;D

See you later.
God bless.
Jenny

Seems like months since I was last on here. I have so much reading to catch up on. I have been laid low with a heavy cold. Shivering, sore bones, chesty cough........job lot!!

I had no interest in doing anything and I could not concentrate on anything. It made me think of those who leave their salvation until their death bed! What makes them think that they could put two thoughts together never mind repenting?

Today is the day of salvation. Today if you will hear my voice then harden not your hearts. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and soul.

Well that is about as much as I can offer today as I am still feeling washed out. Wobbly knees and faintness.

Take care and God bless you all. Bye the way, we have snow today and Chris and Jenny - it's heading your way. Wrap up well.

LOL

Your brother in Christ

Iain

Hi everyone.  I got up early this morning as have a busy day ahead.  Will, of course, go to coffee and then to the "Y" to do my walking.  Then I will head to the Senior Center to attend a meeting related to planning for our PC User's Group.  Following that I will go to the church as this is Calvin Cove day and today we are going to sing hymns with the older adult day-care folks.  For me this is a full day.  We did not get the ice here that was all around us other than some icing on the trees.  Today I see we have a fog alert for awhile.

I extend my welcome to Shawn.  Glad to have you with us here at CP.

Iain, certainly sorry to read that you have been ill.  I have appreciated your devotional messages yesterday and today that Pat has shared with us in the daily devotional section.

I sure don't envy all you folks who are experiencing snow and ice and very cold temperatures.

I expect this is a day of mixed emotions for Mieka as she travels back to China.

Liz, I have read quite a few things related to the Mel Gibson movie and the people who have seen it seem to have experienced something profound.  They had a private viewing for about 200 ministers and others at a church in Atlanta this past weekend.  One minister of a church of about 1500 people said he planned to rent out the theater for special showings for his congregation.  I am sure we will be hearing a lot more about it.

Marilyn, glad to hear that you are feeling better and that the chiropractor was able to bring relief to your pain.  I have had a Rubbermaid pull-out keyboard holder attached to my computer desk for a long time.  It puts the keyboard at the proper level.  I also have my monitor where I am basically looking down at it.  If your desk is too high and you have to hold up your arms you are putting strain on your muscles.  The ideas with the pillows and a foot rest sound wise as an alternative to lowering everything.

Sonja, Troy is really getting into the competitive swimming.  I hope he is really enjoying it.  I have been missing seeing the cleaver postings from Zachery (mullet).  Hope he can post from time to time.  Congratulations Zachery on your plaque.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning to ALL.  :)

We have had THE ice storm.

It started Sunday and evening services were called off.  It sleeted/rained all day.  Then Monday was just plain cold.. Nothing over 28 degrees.  More sleet and a sprinkling of snow.

Today it is still about 24 degrees, and the roads are icy.  I will stay home until I feel safe to travel to work.  I did go to work yesterday..scared and driving on ice.  Got home about 3 o'clock.  The roads were slushy then.  Back to ice now.  Nobody seems to be traveling down my country road.

Good excuse to stay home.  Hurrah!  First time on the computer, though and I tried to play catch-up.

Love to all.

Great devotions from Iain!  Glad you are back!

Good morning!  So nice to hear from Iain, but I'm so sorry you have been ill.  Take care of yourself, dear brother, we miss you when you can't come in and post.  But we surely have enjoyed your devotionals.

Kathy, isn't it nice to just get to stay home?  I'm glad you can do that and not feel forced to go out and drive on the ice.  Have a wonderful, cozy day!

Hello, Sarah!  So you have decided to become an EMT??  Good for you!  It's lots of work, but a worthy undertaking.

I am so sorry I had computer problems and didn't get to visit with dear Mieka.  I am glad, though, that she doesn't have the fear of going to Tibet that she had before.  Godspeed, little one, we love you and will be waiting for your return to us.

Jenny, a few words of prayer for the healing of my mouth would be appreciated in your prayer time.  Bless you, dear.

Larry, you are so consistent in your doing of good works.  I know you will be/are blessed for your faithfulness.  I wish you a wonderful day today.

Hello, dear Ria!!  I'm sorry Holland is so dark and damp, but soon the sun will shine again on you!  I know your father appreciates your help, and that you are happy you have him with you and can be of help to him.

Hey there, Judy!  Good to see you!  Yes, Beth is okay, but she had to cancel her week at that clinic in Texas as her Dad planned to take her, but he just got out of the hospital and isn't able to take her yet.  Plans are for her to go later, though.  (And yes, John is still in the picture! ;))

We are in the deep freeze here, too.  Darrel just told me it is about 3 degrees outside.  I have to get out and do a couple things today, but am not looking forward to getting out in it.

My coffee is ready, so see you later!

Good Morning Everyone...

We'll our storm is about half over--so the weather men say!  We've had so much!  And the freezing rain is still to come so everyone is desperately trying to get the snow dug and removed from the driveways before the freezing rain lands on top of it.

It was so nice to be able to speak with Mieka last night.

Iain, you get well soon.  We'll be praying for you bro!

Now, I must go and move my car.

Wow, page 2 already!

We had the most beautifulest sunrise ever.  The whole sky was pink and orange.  I thought about pictures the whole time.

I am in the process of changing my website, getting new pictures put up and stuff.  I just heard this morning that our Christian Radio station has website.
www.kslt.com (http://www.kslt.com)  I am going to check that out today.  The two host in the morning just crack me up.

Larry~Zachery and Troy will post more as soon as I get the computers back.  They didn't get fixed right.  Still getting pop ups even though they aren't on the internet.  Of course we are online 24/7 because we never shut off the computers.  No one is allowed on my computer, but me.  ;D  Give 'em 2 weeks.

Ruthie~Way to go! You are doing a great job on posting pictures!!!  <high five>   You got some cute ones too.  Keep it up!

I have a another busy day.  I best get started.

Have a good day Ria, Jenny, Pat, Iain, Larry, Sarah, Janet, Kathy and Judy Mc.  (((hug)))

Liz ~ I believe that the movie 'The Passion' will be in theaters February 25.  My church is certainly supporting it as some have already seen the movie as a pre-screening.  In fact, our church is going to purchase tickets so we may have a private showing at our local theater.  It is rated R because of the violence...the crucifixion of Christ.  The story is the last 12 days of Christ on earth.  Mel spent his own money producing, directing and, I think, acting in this movie.  Hollywood wouldn't touch it because it was about Christ.  But our church is encouraging all Christians to see the film....let Hollywood find out what John Q Public wants!!!  Check it out here..... http://www.passion-movie.com/  I see Ed and I gave the same information.  I also heard that no one left the theater until the screen was totally black.  They sat through all the credits.

It is cold and all white outside.  I can see a state highway from my picture window and the cars are moving very slow.  A great day to be inside looking out!  Glad I don't have to get out in it.

It gets windy inside the house.  Let me explain.  Two cats chasing each other causes a terrific draft!!!!  Sometimes you can see the fur fly!!!  It is almost as if Ali gets enough of Inky's antics and chases her, knowing that Inky will eventually flop and then Ali can get some rest, too!  Never a dull moment now at Etta Sue's house!

<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))><<~~<:))))
"Shouting to make your children obey is like using the horn to steer your car, and you get about the same results."  (Is this about cats, too?)

Kassie and I are researching Ben Franklin.  There was a story about him in her spelling this week.  SHe found the story interesting and asked if we could go on the internet and find out more.  One thing I came across was 20 sermons.  THis is one of the awesome quotes, in his second sermon.  What a heritage the US has in the Founding Fathers.  This is so applicable to today too.

QuoteAmong all the beliefs of the world, what belief is it through which the sinner is justified before God? By reference to John xx: 30, 31, we learn what he wrote out his testimony concerning Christ for. He says: "Many other signs truly did Jesus, in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you might believe." This gives the purpose of the apostle in writing his book: "These are written that you might believe." The next question is, That you might believe what? He informs us, "That you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God."

Ruth I sympathyse with ouy, having to go out in this terrible weather,  I at least can opt out of going out if I want.

I came home Sunday late and forgot to plug the van in.   Woooops  Cannot get it going again.  I have a heater on the battery to see if that will help.  May have to call in the garage.

It is only -12*C, not so cold but ther windchill is what is causing the trouble.

John is on the way home from Tennesee, and the forcast is for bad weather there.  Take care Ruth Ann and don't get caught in it.

Have a good day everyone, Back to research.

Dear Iain:

When I had a bad cold last year and went on Arithimisin. a drug.  (not sure of the spelling).    After when I felt weak and needed a pick me up, a lady at the health store told me to make some chicken soup.   But not just ordinary chicken soup.   Put garlic cloves, onion, ginger and turmuric powder in it.   Then add carrots, potatoes and more onions if you like.  Then drink the clear soup.   I ended up eating the vegetables too, but the turmuric and garlic and ginger were wonderful for picking me up and making me feel human again!

Please try it and start off slow, and have a little every two hours.    Also Iain I have been telling people about Barley Green that I take.   A wonderful green drink that has everything in it.   Just the powdered green leaves of barley.   There are a lot of Christians taking this.    If you are interested IM me.  They are in many countries including the British Isles.

I enjoyed your devotional yesterday and today!

God Bless

Hi Soni....thank you for your encouragement.    I thought "Oh brother, I cannot do this"   but I just had to concentrate on what Pat told me.    She is a great teacher.     It's funny, if I ask Kevin, my son, he will say things like  "It's not rocket science Mom" or  "you don't have to ride a bike while you are doing it!"    Well you know he just gets me laughing and I learn nothing.   But Pat has taught me and will keep on helping if I forget.

I would like to get a scanner and do my own.

You are so smart to do your own posting of pictures.

God Bless

Just checking in again to catch up on the messages since this morning.  We finally have the sun shining and all of the ice is gone.  It is now in the low 40s.

Etta Sue, I love that saying at the end of your postings.  It really gave my wife and I a good laugh and it is so true.

Sonja, I checked the Christian radio website you inidcated to see if they were broadcasting over the Internet but don't see that to be the case.  Fortunately I can get Moody Broadcasting on the Internet and listen to it a lot.  I taught myself the basics of html several years ago and have found that knowing probably 100 or so codes and understanding the logic of html makes it relatively easy to use.  One of the thngs you will find very helpful is to use tables as they allow you to control where things appear on your webpage.  I don't try to remember every code and have a couple reference books to use.  There are also great resources on the Internet regarding using basic html coding.  Hope your boys get their computers fixed soon.

Ruthie, Pat and I learned to do html about the same time and I remember a conference we attended in Wilmington, North Carolina where she and another lady from SeniorNet presented a class on using various codes.  This was the first time I had the great priviledge of meeting Pat in person.

JudyB, hope you get your van started and that your husband has a good safe trip home from Tennessee.  Sure he will see a lot of snow and cold weather.

I have a lot I want to get done this afternoon so guess I had better stop writing for the time being.

Here it is 4 PM and I did go to work after all.
The trees are still loaded with ice, power outages in some places but not at work or at my home.  I do pray for the ones who are out...especially with no heat and small children, sick ones and the elderly.  I feel truly blessed.

The highways were pretty clear today and it is beginning to melt off the power lines which is a good sign.

I hope you don't hurt yourself, Pat, digging out of the snow!

Iain, I liked the recipie that Ruthie posted.  I want to try it myself even though I am not sick.  I hope you get better, FAST!.

Well the car is running.  I don't need to go out today so I let it run and warm up well.  It is now plugged in and I will check early tomorrow to make sure it runs when needed.

You folks who have the flu, Do yourself a favour, and stay in for a few days to enable your bodies to get well.  Drink a lot, hot water with lemon and honey helps flush the system.  Ruthie's soup sounds good too, to give you energy, but you need to allow your body to heal.  So stay in and sleep as needed and GET WELL!

We have snow up here.  That is a good thing as long as there is no wind.  The temp outside my Kitchen window is,-12*C, so that is better than the -32 we had on the weekend.

Kathy it is so pretty to see the trees loaded with snow.  That is the part of winter that I love.  It can be so dangerous too, so be careful.

Ruth how was your PM bus run?

Bye for now
Love JudyB

I am home from work, been home for a few hours, but trying to stay off the computer more. I did a little sewing and will do more shortly, I am just taking my time with the duvet, not in any hurry to get it done.

Sorry to hear that Iian and Chris are under the weather.  Ruthie your would sounds familiar to me, the recipe I heard about contains 2 whole red onions and also a  cinnamon stick in addition to what you said.

I went to the Co-op in Arcata on my way home and bought some veggies, tofu and organic Dog biscuits.  made my self a BIG salad for lunch. I am, eating more fresh veggies and fruits now.

My back is pain free but my arm still hurts. Dr. said the arm pain isn't related to the bacd and neck being out. I am going to ask my regular Dr. for an MRI to see what the problem is.

Hi Everyone...thought I would share an answer of prayer.   Yesterday I wore a lovely warm pair of mitts to work. I walk to work and they are warm, leather on the underside and rabbit fur on the top.   After work I went into the mall, took off my mitts, put one in one pocket and one in the other.     After walking around Winner's, I went to Black's and then started home when I discovered one mitt was missing.   I immediately went to Winner's, went to the desk, but was told no mitt there.

I went to the Lost & Found in the Mall.   No mitt there and not at Black's either.

Today I went back to the same places and asked again at Winner's.   They still said NO MITT.   I decided to walk around the store myself and look.  I asked at the dressing room door, still the answer was NO.    Then I said a silent prayer in my heart.   I was ready to go home when I saw a lady at the Layaway booth.  I told her my predicament.   She said "Go over to the Gloves and Mitts Department, maybe someone would think it belonged here and put it there.   I thought "okay, it is worth a try".   Well, I walked over to the gloves and there to my delight was my furry mitt!laying on top of the other gloves.  I think I had tears in my eyes as I realized God cares about even little things in our lives!

Yes, I was happy that I had found my mitt, but even more thrilled that I am connected to the Mighty God of the Universe who loves me and desires to answer my prayers

I went back to the lost & found counter and told the lady that I had found my mitt and would like to thank the lady who had told me to go to the gloves department, but she had gone home.

On the way home I sang this song:

"I worship You,  Almighty God, there is none like You.    I worship You, O Prince of Peace, That is what I long to do.   I give You praise,   For you are my righteousness.   I worship You, Almighty God, there is none like you."

Pat, do we have the music for this song?

God Bless

That is soooo cool, Ruthie!

Even the little things matter to God.  That's gives me a good feeling to know that.  Thanks for sharing.  and your welcome for the encouragement.

It is very hard stuff when we first learn but after awhile we get so used to doing it that we wonder why it was so hard.  ::)

Larry~I am having trouble getting 2 windows to open up on one page for me correctly.  I get the 2 windows but there nothing like what I put. hmm...I will keep working on it.  Do you happen to have a good site to learn the codes? Thanks

I just got done helping Zachery with the paper route.  We bought some donuts and had some chocolate milk together when we got done.  That was fun but very feeling.

I am going to mess some more in with my webpage.

Oh Ruthie... that is so neat. (and so cool too as Soni already said...LOL)  I'm so glad you shared that experience with us.  It really does make you realize how much God cares about the liittle things in life.

Larry:  I have an idea of the pain your Pat is going through.  I have rheumatoid arthritis, and my arms, shoulders and neck are really paining me as I write.

Last night I didn't get any more than 3 hours sleep...I feel as though I could fall asleep here., so I will close down early.

I always check the prayer requests...thats a must!

I hope everyone is keeping warm., and Iain I trust you are feeling some better now too.

Ria:  sounds like we both have the same type of "bed warmer"...lol

WELCOME TO HELEN AND SHAWN..... we hope you post and tell us a little about yourself.

Etta Sue:  How is Jerry these days?  Please tell him I was asking for him.

Great having you back Janet....you sure were missed, and I look forward to seeing some of your photos.

Pat - is there any possibility you could send that song, with the clickable music, to my friend John Luken?  He is jluken@sbcglobal.net.  Thanks.

Hello again: I just came out of a nice hot soaking bath. MMMMMM. got my jammies on and thought I would stop into my favorite place and see if anyone was home. I had a nice cuppa tea before my bath and no one to share it with.  I don't think  will be back here tonight so I will say good night now. Sorry I missed y-all. I come a knockin again in the morning.

Until then.

Page 3?! Oh come on folks...I know you have more to say then this.

We just got through eating and cleaning the house up. I don't have to get up early to take Troy to practice, yipeee...so I think I might stay up a bit later.  If I can.  ::)

You all hear about that worm going around and then that new bird flu?  Pretty scarey stuff.  With the mad cow disease and all going on I am seriously thinking of becoming a vegetarian.  :-X  I could live with it. I think.

Good evening all.  Hope you feel better soon Iain, Chris and others who are not well.

Had a quiet day today and stayed indoors.  Rain and chilly fog outside.  Almost have forgotten what the sun looks like.  Tho' of course, Ralph Waldo Emerson did say that 'Most of the Shadows in this life are caused by standing in one's own sunshine.'  Hmm!!!

Wendy is still quite ill.  Did not cook their dinner tonight as Ralph got them something from take-out.  I need to get to a store and stock up on quick foods to cook.  Amanda is off meat these days and that makes things a bit difficult.  Not that I blame her, considering all the 'Mad Cow talk.'

I wrote a letter to my sister in Australia and printed some photos of my new home.  Took them with the Digital Camera.  Wish she used a computer and could simply e-mail.  That makes life so much simpler for lazy folks like me.

Thanks for all the info on The Passion of Christ.  I am really interested in seeing the movie and hope it comes to a nearby theatre.  Rarely go to movies...think this will be worth the effort.

Our BC gov. is an ongoing horror movie in itself.  Politicians alleged to be involved with the Mafia.  Ministers getting married to same sex partners.  It is rather like a nightmare come to fruition...or something!
Getting so that I head straight for the comics when reading the morning news.

Okay!  Need some more of Soni's cheery posts.  Think all this rain is truly dampening the old spirit.  Will go and read some of the other posts and look at pictures.  Get back to what our lives are really about.
God Bless and pleasant dreams.  Liz.

Soni, Soni, Soni...........I saw you looking right at me when you made that last comment about only three pages. ::)   I'm here.  I was wondering if I had anything to say, but since you said I do, then I guess I do.

Lets see.....spent time in prayer this morning as usual.  Then decided I simply had to get curtains for my kitchen window, so went to Walmart and found some lace panels with swag and valances for the in between.  I love the outdoors, love the light coming in the window, so didn't want heavy curtains or blinds.

I slept in!  I made sure the bedrrom door was closed last night, and only once did I hear Katie Kat knocking on the door.  Once she, and probably Shadow too, realized I wasn't answering,  she stopped, and I slept till 8.  8!!  I had lots of energy today too.

Etta Sue, I sure understand about wind in the house. haha   It's so much fun to watch the cats begin to play.  Shadow is pretty new here, so it took awhile for Katie to accept her.  Shadow was ready to play immediately, but she wisely stayed out of Katies way for awhile.  It makes me smile when I see them chasing each other around.  Shadow goes for the high places and Katie still stays on the ground. :)   It does things in my heart to have them here wanting my attention......Shadow will get really close and stare into my face when I'm praying out loud.  If I am brought to tears, she looks so intent.  I wonder what she knows.
Kate on the other hand, just wants me to make sure she is comfortable and has food.  She's a sweetie,  and I love her.  I love them both.  It's so neat discovering their personalities as they interact with each other.  God made animals, pets, for us to love.   I need them as much as they need me.

OK, Sonja.......are you tired yet? hehe

  I love you all.   Nita

I don't have anything of importance to say tonight.  It is hard when your computer is "fixed" and then you can't find stuff like before.  I finally got my icons I need back on PSP, but now I cannot find my FTP program, so I still can't post photos.  Maybe tomorrow..........

They say we are in for even colder temps for a few days, so I'm glad I got my errands done today.  Tonight we went to a client appreciation dinner our financial planner had.  It was really nice, and really good food.  And we were home before 8:00!

I'm headed for my bed now!

Iain and Chris, I hope both of you are feeling much better when you wake in the morning!

Soni..... :-*

Well folks, I am off to bed.     There is so much snow outside.  I will take a picture tomorrow and show everyone.  The weatherman said ice pellets and freezing rain earlier today, but we didn't get that, thank the Lord.   We just got snow and more snow!

A man down the street has a truck with a blade and he shovels out my driveway and the adjoining driveway.    So I just have to shovel the sidewalks.

Have a blessed day tomorrow.

Love Ruthie ;)
