Morning Devotional...

The Shepherd's Psalm--Part (iii)

(https://www.christianphotographers.com/images/jasForum.jpg)

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He restores my soul;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

Perhaps you can imagine the scene. In the far distance, the sun shines over the misty blue mountains. Below them lie the upland moors covered with deep rich purple heather and golden yellow gorse. Immediately in front of us, and just beyond the field gate on which you and I are leaning, is a beautiful verdant pasture.

The grass is lush and wild flowers grow in colorful array. If we stand quietly, we can hear above the soft rustle of the wind, the musical drone of the honey bees as they gather nectar from delicate blooms.

About five hundred yards away, the cool, clear waters of a river flow serenely and silently towards the distant sea.

A little flock of sheep, some with lambs, lie peacefully undisturbed near the river's edge. If we were to look at them through our binoculars, we would see them gently chewing their cud as they draw nourishment from the abundant provision of fresh food. They surely are the picture of contentment and tranquillity. This is something like the picture that Psalm 23 calls to my mind.

"He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters." (Psalm 23:2) Why are the sheep in our little scene so peaceful, so content, so unruffled as they enjoy the warmth of the afternoon sun?

I think my shepherd friend, Johnny Crawford, would tell us that a flock such as we have described are free from fear, have enough to eat and are not plagued with parasites. If we remove any one of these conditions the sheep will not be at peace.

Has not God given us a lovely picture in Psalm 23 of the condition of His believing people? In Psalm 95:7, we read "For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand." Every good shepherd will care for his flock, removing the sheep from danger, providing medical treatment to prevent parasites and ensure sufficient food to keep them strong and healthy.

Our "Good Shepherd" has done so much more for His flock than the best of earthly shepherds. To start with He says to us in John 10:11, "I am the Good Shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep". He paid the ultimate price to purchase His flock and to deliver them from the fear of eternal death. "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" (Romans 8:32).

In Christ our shepherd we have all we need for eternity. When we realize that "I am His and He is mine", fears quickly diminish and should fade away. When the Shepherd is present the wolf will seek some other prey. We need not fear man or devil, even if they kill us we shall live with Him.

If we are aware of His divine presence we will find food abundant for our souls and our spirits will rejoice in the Bread of Life, for He feeds us with food sufficient for our requirements. This He does as we seek to feed on His word and to find Him there. We can, with the Shulamite maiden experience the bounty of His hand. Listen to her words, "He brought me into the banqueting house, and His banner over me was love." (Song of Solomon 2:4) My friends let us feat on the good things of His word as we bask in the sunshine of His love.

"He leadeth me beside the still waters." Sheep like human beings need more than food to live; both need water if they are to survive. In Revelation 21:6, we read, "And He said to me, 'It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts'."

What is the water of life? The Lord Jesus when speaking to the woman of Samaria told her of "living water" which if a person drank he or she would never thirst again. "But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." (John 4:14).

The Old Testament prophet Isaiah talks about that water in Isaiah 12:2,3 "Many people shall come and say, 'Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths." And the Lord Jesus Christ explains its meaning for us in John 7:37-39, "On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, 'If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.' But this He spoke concerning the Spirit whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified."

We see then that the water is the Holy Spirit whom we receive by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ the Great Shepherd. The Holy Spirit is needed to give life to those who are dead in sin. He is God's agent in the new birth as we are told in John 3:8 "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit". And it is His presence that sustains eternal life in all those who come by faith to the Lord Jesus for Salvation. It is He who enables us to become true disciples of the one who loved us unto death; the good shepherd who gave His life for the sheep.

If you and I are truly united by faith to the great Shepherd we can enjoy peace greater and more beautiful than any earthly scene. No matter what our material blessings or lack of them we have a peace that passes all understanding, food that nourishes for eternity and water that quenches the thirst for satisfaction in a way the broken cisterns of earth cannot satisfy.

To know this Shepherd is to love Him, and to love Him is to know Him in a way that can only be experienced by His flock. We will close this part of our studies with His gracious invitation as it is found in Isaiah 55:1-3a "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live."

Can you afford to reject this lovely overture of love and mercy? If you are one of His sheep, does not the knowledge of His love thrill your heart and cheer your spirit?

He is missed greatly by his family.

I've copied this devotional.  This one is such a comfort to me.  Thank you, God, for sending your servant, Jack Scott,  and thank you for giving him gifts to leave behind for us. :'( :-*

Pat, I know that this site is very special.  I'm not online much, as some know, but when I do come.....I check email and then to CP.  I don't always post, but read and pray for the needs posted.  I guess I should be better about posting, but sometimes (like lately......so many sad things happening in our church)there are no words.....or you try to post something, and then erase all of it.  That's just me.  Others NEED to come and say what they are feeling, while sometimes I can't.

    You know where the Lord is leading you, honey.  He'll speak to you and you'll follow.  We, those who want the site to stay, can't say what God is doing.  As those who love you and want the best for you, there isn't one of us who would  urge you to continue hosting this site if you really felt God telling you to do something different now.   On the other hand, as others have posted, I, too, felt the need to let you know that we would help financially to keep the site up, and wrote that to you.

    I've always been ready to receive and to let go just as easily.  I know that we are on a journey and there are seasons for everything.  God is teaching us all.

    We can all pray for Pat and with Pat, and surrender our desire for this site to continue, to the Lord.  Our Precious Father knows just what Pat needs to be doing, and if it's to continue here, I trust Him.  He will move on her heart and put a new joy in her for this place and a new vision of what is already happening here.      Some people leave because they do not need a site like this.  That is the truth.  Other have so much going on that it takes determined time to come here and post, and then they feel quilty if they've been gone awhile so they don't come back. We are all so different.  All busy on the journey God has layed out before us.

 Soni, I think your idea is a good one if Pat continues.  Have a place where newcomers can come and post in one place for awhile......get a feel for the site and the other members...a safe place to be.   There are still people who are not too comfortable with the internet yet, and getting used to a site like this would be hard.

 I've said way too many words.  Initially, I just wanted to come and say that I've had a really good day.  And my daughter from Arizona is coming tomorrow !!  Yippee. She'll only be here one day, but I need to hug on her.  I'll just do it fast. :)

  Grandaughter, Angel, is staying with me tonight, so I'll go and get her tucked in and to bed myself.   I'll be praying with all of you.  love, nita

Pat, I took too long to write this and you had locked the door by the time I was ready to post, so I will just copy it here, okay?

I, too, feel as NITA just posted.  I come here every day, and sometimes several times a day, because I need to know how all y'all are doing.  I have been bombarded with many, many hard and hurtful arrows of late, and there just are no words that can adequately express my thoughts even if I believed sharing them would make a difference.  I feel that when I am "going through" something I need to keep it to myself rather than spreading it all around.  Most of the time I don't even tell my best friend, NITA.  I know everyone has their own problems and life to live and certainly don't need to become aware of mine.   :-\

Maybe this makes no sense at all ... and that is exactly my point!  I know my Father understands my heart and that's where I go when I need help.  Please know that I am here and I read all your comments...I could never, ever, respond to each one (Sonja) and much of the time just can't bring myself to chit chat when my heart is heavy.

That goes for my seeming absence from so many of the other forums.  I read each prayer request and pray diligently, but you just can't know how much pain I feel over them and words seem so meaningless compared to what I feel.

I'm sorry that I am not very responsive ... it's just that you don't know that I'm here.  I feel like Mieka so often expressed: It's too hard to type when my eyes are full of tears.   :'(

I can't promise too much ... I know you will hear from God and that you will do as He instructs ... I'll be waiting.

Firstly I want to say Pat, I am sorry that last night I posted my own feelings re this site...That was wrong.  My feelings shouldn't come into it.

Indeed mulling things over I realise that you have been doing far too much and thus getting very tired and unable to sleep properly with the pressures of the work.....This doesn't come from God.

Take your time to consider what you want to do with your life.  Someone once said re God:-

            "We think His thoughts after Him."

I am sure His plan will take effect. He  will use the March situation to bring about His purposes.

Now then, on another theme, we all need lifting don't we?  How's about Pat or Chris our own "disk jockey" playing a great uplifting hymn for us.  It's been on my lips this morning:-

                How Great Thou Art

I would appreciate this and feel sure others would too.

Jane and Nita, Prayerfully:-

............."A three-fold cord cannot be broken"

God bless you all

(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Today I realized that I was selfish in my wanting this site to stay on...and on...and on.  But as Nita and Joyce so well expressed it should be the LORD's will for this site to continue.  If this ministry is uplifting God and He sees fit for it to continue..it will.  I believe that He will let all of us know as we prayerfully put this petition  before His throne of grace and love.

I will be in prayer for this throughout the day and days following until a decision is reached  knowing that the Holy Spirit is present in here in each of our lives.

in His love,   kathy

Good morning!  As usual, I have come to my favorite place on the web---CP!

I had a rather short night.  Abby got sick in the night and threw up, so all you moms and grandmas know what that meant!  She doesn't seem to feel all that bad, and has no fever, but not even a sip of water will stay in her stomach.  So she is lying quietly on the couch watching cartoons.  She wanted to call Mom and Daddy as soon as it happened, but I talked her into waiting until time for them to be up.  She just wanted them to be aware!  :)  Diane asked her if she wanted to come home, and she said no.

I think if she stays quiet, I may be able to post more photos today.  Time will tell.

Only love can be divided endlessly and still not diminish.   ~~~Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Thanks, Sonja!  Prayers are so appreciated.  Poor Abby just had an accident in her pants, very distressing to a 6 year old! :-[  So I guess it isn't only to be the throwing up, but also the "other."  :-X  Sure a good thing I have a washer and dryer! ;D She didn't bring very many clothes.

Sonja, it is so sweet of you to respond to everyone who posts.  Some can do that so well, and I do try, but know that a lot of times I'm in a hurry or other things, and don't get it done.  But you are very much appreciated.  Why will Troy shave his head?  Less drag in the water?  Couldn't he use a tight fitting swim cap instead?  But he will still be your handsome son!!  GO TROY!!

Ria, prayers continue for your father.  God bless all of you as you care for him during this time.

Hey, Jenny, Kathy, Jane and Nita!!  Love you gals!!

Darrel just cooked me some sausage, and I am having coffee, so I will eat just ONE doughnut, thanks! ;) ;D

-------------------------------------------------

The Gifts
==========

On father's day last year, a young man came up to me after
church.  I did not recognize him.  I have not seen him since.
He was in his late teens or early 20's.

As I stood at the front of the church shaking hands he
approached me and said, "I watch you on TV and I just want to
give you this," as he handed me a piece of paper rolled up like
a cigarette.

I thought it was another appeal for help of some kind or who
knows what.  You can get some weird things in ministry.
I thought nothing more about it.  I threw the paper in the back
seat of my car along with a myriad of other papers that I had
accumulated.

A week later, as I was cleaning out my car, I noticed what
appeared to be a receipt for a money order laying on my back
seat.  I looked at it.  It said $500.00.

"Who would put a receipt for a $500.00 money order on my seat?"
I thought.  I looked at it again, this time more carefully.

It couldn't be!  I checked it again and again.

It wasn't a receipt.

It was a real money order for $500.00.

There was no indication who the money order was from.

I noticed another similar piece of paper still on the seat.

I picked it up.

It was another $500.00 money order.  I immediately checked my
back seat thoroughly.  There was another money order, this one
for $300.00.

There was also a note.

On my backseat were three money orders, totaling $1,300.00, and
a note.

The note read, "You have been like a father to me."

I stood there scratching my head wondering where in the world
did these money orders come from?  Did my mother give them to me
for father's day and slip them in my car?

I called her and asked.  She knew nothing about them.

I asked my wife.  She looked at me, perhaps wondering if I had
started drinking or something.  $1,300 of money orders just
laying on your back seat?

I looked at the money orders closely.  There was absolutely no
indication of the origin but then I noticed one thing.  All of
the money orders had a slight curl.  I placed them in a stack.
The curls all fit together neatly,

like in a roll,

like in a cigarette roll.

I placed the note on top of the money orders.
The note had the same curl.

The young man at the church, the rolled up piece of paper,

He had given me $1,300.00!

In my years in ministry, I have never been on salary.
I don't collect a "Love Offering" for myself.
Ministry is something that I do without cost.

There is nothing wrong with being paid as a Pastor.
The Biblical way is to receive some form of support,
but for the moment, I simply choose to do as Paul did.
http://www.mountainwings.com/past/paulspay.htm

Thus, $1,300.00 was by far the largest gift in ministry that
I had ever received.  It impacted me.  It made me also remember
to never to prejudge anyone, for you know not what they bear.

Months later, another regular attendee of the church gave me an
envelope for Christmas.

In it was a card.

In the card was cash money.

It was a worn and faded one-dollar bill.

My first reaction was, "Is this all in this card. . . $1?"

Then I realized, they didn't have to give me that, no one else
did.  It was all that they could afford.  I began to see that
worn dollar bill in a new light, a widow's mite.

Those two gifts are the only two that stand out in my mind; the
only ones that I really remember.  In both instances I misjudged
the givers and jumped to wrong conclusions.  We are all human
and make errors.

Those gifts represent the extremes for me in amounts, but they
were given with the same spirit.

I teach here a principle of spirit.

We are sometimes ashamed because we don't have as much as our
neighbors or friends.  Both the $1,300 and the $1 had great
impact on me.  The person that gave the $1 was in dire financial
straits themselves.  They didn't have much and virtually none to
spare.  But they had $1, and they gave it.

We must always be careful with our words and declarations.

Never say that you don't have anything.  That's not true.
If you have the capability to receive MountainWings you are more
materially blessed than 75% of the world.

You have or have access to:
1. A computer (likely with some type of living space to put it in)
2. electricity (worldwide that's not as common as you may think)
3. Phone service
4. An ISP connection
5. An email account
6. You live in a country that does not block internet traffic.
7. You can read.

There is a longer list but you get the point.

When I start on my list of "haves" money isn't at the top.
In material possessions I am enormously wealthy,
so are most of you.

We judge assets by how much they are worth.
What you would sell them for indicates their value to you.

How much would you sell your eyes for?

Huh?

How much would you sell your eyes for?

10 million?  No.

50 million?  No.

I billion?  Probably not.

Your eyes are priceless to you.

Maybe you would let the left eye go for 50 million but virtually
for no amount of money would you part with both of your eyes.

I am enormously wealthy.  I have a pair of billion dollar eyes.

You do have something, always know that.

You do have something, be it a billion or a widow's mite.

You do have something.

Good Morning everyone> Pat thank you for posting part 3 of Jacks teaching on Psalm 32.

I am in a bit of a bind this morning. I got one load of laundry out of the washer and went to put in the second load and the timer will not turn to set the wasner. Drat!! time for another washer. Here I thought I was going to be able to save the money from my income tax check  for when I have to move again. The dryer is going too it takes two or three times to get the clothes dry.

Forgive me this morning I am just upset. I will come back in a little while after I calm down some.

Good Morning Everyone!  ;D

It's a bright day here in Guelph but it snowed during the night and I must go out and do some errands so I also must dig.  I need a snowblower from Soni!  :o

Nita, thanks for your loving words.  I always receive a blessing when I read your posts or a smile.  Thanks!  Glad you enjoyed Jack's part 3 as I did as well .
I just went through it again with my Bible.

Sorry I locked the door on you, Jane, last night!  :-*  I waited for a long time but it seems I slam the door on someone.   Thanks for your comments too...it helps.

Jenny, no need to apologize.  I wanted everyone's personal feelings.  That's how it will help me to know what to do and it looks pretty promising that the site will continue.  I just needed to know that it was a blessing to folks and I do hope that more people will come and find out that too.

I see Soni put in "How Great Thou Art" and I have it playing here while I type.  I love that hymn!

Ria, I'm happy to read that your father is doing better.  I pray that each day he'll get stronger and stronger.  Thanks for putting in the poem and I'm going to keep a copy of that.

Soni, WHY??? :( :o ??? ::)

Great thought, Sonja!

QuoteI will be in prayer for this throughout the day and days following until a decision is reached  knowing that the Holy Spirit is present in here in each of our lives.

Ohhhh, Janet!  I'm so sorry about Abby!  Funny isn't it that they love Grandma but when they are sick, it's Mummy and Daddy!  That's good though.   Looking forward to your photos.

Hi Marilyn...  Sorry about your washer.  Mine is going too and I daren't let anyone touch it except me since they could ruin the switches in there.  My dryer is quite new (about 3 years) so I'm ok there.

Thanks for the Mountain Wings, JudyB.  Lovely reading there.

Well, I hear my kettle and I'm thirsty for another coffee so off I go to make one.

Marilyn ~ Sorry to hear about your neck but, oh, so, glad you found out why the pain was happening.  Sounds like mine.  Mine was between the 6th & 7th vertabrae.  I am without pain now.  But I kind of over done it yesterday.  My neck was burning by the time I got off of here last night.  But mine is better each day.  I am to go for a follow-up appointment with the Pain Management Doctor Monday morning IF the rain turning to ice turning to snow doesn't come as predicted Sunday night.

Boots ~ What a legacy you will leave to your children and grandchildren by writing your life story.  Aren't memories great?  Thank God for them.  My morning devotional was about not being burdened with bad memories.  Even your bad memories turn out great if we look for the greatness.

Sonja ~ Grandparents are wonderful.  My maternal grandmother lived to be 101.  She lived by herself until she was 100½.  (When you get that old, you are allowed to add the ½'s)  ::) When she was born, they didn't even have gravel roads and before she died, she flew to California in an airplane To see one of her daughters!!!  The progress she saw in those short 101 years!!!  Just read where Troy will be shaving his head, arms and legs for swimming.  Hope you will be taking some pictures.  Come to think of it, I wish my son was taking swimming when he was Troy's age.  Anything to get him to cut his hair at that time!!!  BTW, Troy doesn't have long hair!!!  Tony did!!!

Liz ~ I agree totally with what you said about CP.  It is so hard to 'read' in the typed words what  emotion the typist has.  That is the hard part about this forum.  Sometimes we think that something very casual said is pointed right at you and when you ask, it had nothing to do with you!  It is wonderful that we agree to disagree and can still be family!!!

Nita ~ Good to see you posting.  I am saying a prayer for you.  You seem burdened.

Jane ~ Are you coming back to Indiana this year?  I sure hope so.  I do so want to meet my sister in Christ!  Just know that you are in my prayers also.

Janet ~ Sorry sorry that Abby was ill in the night.  Makes you wonder what causes such nights?  Hope she is much better today.

JudyB ~ I love 'The Gifts'.  You know, I am learning that giving gifts are far more fulfilling for the spirit than receiving.  Not that I received so much but I sure didn't give a lot either.  Too independent!  I used to think that I worked for what I have.  If you want it, you work for it.  Don't expect me to give it to you.  But now, I feel totally different.  Only now, just don't ask for it.  You may receive it anyway!

I received a phone call from Jerry this morning.  He has been without electricity since 8 a.m. and it is 11 a.m. now.  He has Bubba...if anything he can keep Jerry warm.   :o You will know why when I take his picture tomorrow, I hope.  Anyway, Ivalou called me this morning shortly after I woke.  Wanted to know if I was keeping warm.  I said, yes..very puzzled.  I guess Indiana broke the record for January 31.  It hasn't been this cold on this day since early '30's.  It was -13°F in the night.  I looked at my indoor/outdoor thermometer and it was -8°F.  Now only a degree warmer.  The sun is shining and my solar heat is running!!!  Jerry is keeping warm by the oven in the kitchen.  I told him to shut the bedroom doors, open the cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen so the pipes don't freeze.  (Remember, his home used to be my home so I was saying what I used to do)  He doesn't have water either because he has well-water.  Also told him to open the outside door once in awhile for fresh air.  If the electric doesn't come back on soon...I told him to call me and I would go get Bubba and Jerry.  So pray for us Hoosiers in the cold, deep freeze!!!  I am doing laundry so it is 11:21 a.m. now and Jerry just signed on MSN IM!!!  Praise God!!!

I'm here again.  ;D
PAT~That's okay ... I didn't get bumped too badly from the door being shut in my face last night.   :P

It is NOT raining here at the moment, SONI, but that doesn't mean it won't be in another moment!  ::)  We have had some pretty good rain storms in the past couple days, but I think that's over for a while.  This is Oregon, after all.  We don't get snow here on the coast very often.  There has been significant snowfall just a ways "inland" this winter, however.  It just seems cold (to me) here.  I am so grateful for the wood I have to burn in my stove.  That sure helps with the electric bill!

JENNY~Thanks for your prayers.

Tomorrow is communion and potluck at our church.  There will be no evening service.  I have the bulletin ready for printing and then I need to take them to the church for distribution in the morning.  While I'm out I will also need to go by the pharmacy and pick up my prescription refill.  Then it's back to my cozy home and another cuppa.   Join me?

Hi ETTA SUE~Nope, I'm not planning any more trips for a while.  I'm really sorry we didn't manage to connect when I was there this summer.  :'( I surely understand the reason, though. :-\  Take care .. and don't get too frozen, okay?

Jane you can pass me a nice hot cup of that tea, and one of those wonderful homemade donuts dripping with chocolate and filled with custard. You are such a wonderful baker dear Jane. I just love your donuts.

Ok all you people who are only looking in here, we are not crazy. We are just ejnoying our cyber meeting over tea, coffee and donuts.

I have put my prayer request for an inexpensive washer and dryer on the prayer chain, it is out of my hands now God can take over.

I read a cute quip in the PDL. "The only thing wrong with being a living sacrifice ,is that it keeps climbing off the altar." How often I have put someting on the altar only to take it back and try to do it my way. Will I ever learn that it is only God's way that works and not mine.

I have my children on the altar and I have remembered only to say "Lord there are my children on your altar, please supply their every need".

Pat, Judy M and Mom.  The idea to put Jack's writing's into a book/binder is a wonderful idea.  I have three cookbooks (among many) that could not be replaced. One that as my mom mentioned she put together after her mother passed away.  These recipes were photocopied from the actual recipies.  Another is from my Dad's Aunt and is also a compilation of family recipies and she enclosed a personal note with my binder that makes her gift so much more personal.  The third is one that my Mom put together of her favourite recipes.  I have used some of the recipes in these books.  Whe my Great-Aunt gave out hers, there was a personal note in the front of the book that means so much.

Jenny, please take care when riding your scooter in weather that is not the best for such.  Save a cup of tea for me too, please.

Pat, this site is a gem and needs to be here.  It is the first place I come after checking my email!  If a membership fee were to become necessary to access certain parts of the site, I for one would pay!

I'm heading out to do a bit of shopping.  I will be back later to spend more time reading today's postings.

Thanks, Judy.  Abby is still feeling bad, and nothing will stay in her tummy, not even little ice chips after she sucks on them.  We tried a bit of lukewarm water, that came back up, too.  She is getting tired of laying around feeling bad, sweet baby. :-\  I asked her if she wanted to try a couple bites of toast, and she says no, nothing.

Jane, I will have a cyber doughnut, too---may I have TWO?  the cyber ones don't make me gain weight, and have no carbs!

I'm not getting much accomplished today, but then, I didn't plan to do much except enjoy Abby.  We brought all her dance clothes and I planned to take photos of her to use for portraits, but she doesn't feel like dressing up for me.  I hope she feels better soon.  Her Daddy called and asked if she wanted him to come take her home, she still says no.

I think I will eat a hamburger (Hope that cow wasn't mad at anybody! ;), and then ready more photos to post.

In the Cross of Christ (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/rathbun.mpga)
(Click to hear music)

Author:  John Bowring, 1792-1872
Musician:  Ithamar Conkey, 1815-1867

In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering o'er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.

When the woes of life o'ertake me,
Hopes deceive, and fears annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me,
Lo! it glows with peace and joy.

When the sun of bliss is beaming
Light and love upon my way,
From the cross the radiance streaming
Adds more luster to the day.

Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure,
By the cross are sanctified;
Peace is there that knows no measure,
Joys that through all time abide.

In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering o'er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.

Talking of upset tummies...

I had a few years of trouble similar to Abby's even ended up in hospital on  a drip sometimes...

After various different treatments to "stop the flow". I now drink warm sugar water to prevent dehydration  when  these bouts occur.  Praise God it's not as bad these days.

The "sugar water" is the old fashioned way when all else fails and it does help against the awful dizziness which comes with chronic bouts of sickness.

I have some awesome news!

My brother has been looking for a job for awhile now and was getting a bit disceraged and decided to take some time to himself and God.  He prayed and read some of the book "The Purpose Driven Life" and highlighted a bunch of scriptures and decided to go make some more calls to get a job.
Well...when he went to pick up the phone it rang and it was a job offer and then another call 5 minutes after he hung up with the first one. He got 3 calls that day and now he has a job.  He is happy with the pay too.
Wow...God is good!
He heard my brothers cry and was mercyful.  Thank you, God!!!

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Oh how gracious and lovingkind He is!!!!!!!

To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Refrain

Abby is still very droopy, but has been able to keep a little flat 7-Up down, so I think she is on the mend.  She is still refusing any food, and I think that is probably good.  Thank you for all the well wishes for her, and even an e-card! ;D ;D

Sonja, that is wonderful news about your brother finding a job---or a job finding him!!!  YEA, GOD!!!

Ria, don't you wash away over there in wet Holland!!

Hi Pat!  Hi Marilyn!!

WHEW!!!  I have all my photos both above and underwater compressed and uploaded!  Now ti find time to post them!

Well John is on his way home from a course down south,  It was an all day course, but ended early as the company cut breaks and that made things faster.

Yes Marilyn you are good.  Any nore Bible trivia Pat?  That was fun.

Janet How is Abby doind?  Do you have gingerale in the house?  That could help.  To the sugar water you coould add some ginger powder, that is good for the tummy, and settling it.

I had an offer of another dog yesterday.  Now tell me what in the world would I do with 4 dogs? and to boot she was a BIG dog.   No don't think so.

It is -15*C today and Doug has been at work since 5:00 am.  He is working at John's company bringing in loads for the highway drivers.  He doesn't have a car, so he is needing a ride home.  We will leave and get him and have some time to ourselves for a while.  That will be a nice change, and it will get him home for his supper.

Well night all
Love Judy

WE ALL HAVE A PART TO PLAY,
IF ONE OF US DOESN'T  DO WHAT IS EXPECTED OF US, SOMEONE ELSE HAS TWICE AS MUCH WORK TO DO FOR THE KINGDOM.

Roles And How We Play Them

Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in my life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part in a school play. His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.

On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement.

"Guess what Mum," he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me: "I've been chosen to clap and cheer!"

He that is faithful in the little things! :)

    Who was John the Baptist's father?

    • Thaddeus

    • Joseph

      • Zechariah

      • Malachi

I think it was Zechariah.  I remember reding the story of Mary being pregnant and John jumping in womb of his mother(Rebecca??) when the two were next to each other.

For totally confused JudyB!!!!

Jerry has a gas cook stove...not electric.  So he turned on the oven and kept warm....at least, the top half since heat goes up!  But the electric came back on and he is fine.

I discovered with this new pc and video card that I can do jigzone puzzles.  Jigzone and my old pc didn't work too well together.  I have done ALL the puzzles today.  What an inspiration!!!

Hi everyone.  I haven't read any messages but we at least have internet access back on one computer.  This has been a tough day as my son and I have been working on trying to get back online all day long.  It is now after 8:30 pm and he just now left.  We finally got hold of knowledgeable technical people at the ISP and we determined that the broadband part of our home networking device had gone bad.  Fortunately I had purchased the warranty on it about 15 months ago when the first unit of that type had failed after about 15 months.  So we went out and got a wireless network system and worked about 3 hours.  We finally got my desktop to connect and had Pat's computer connected but then he changed something and now have again lost that connection.  He hasn't been able to get the laptop to connect.

Needless to say we are all exhausted so I will try to read the postings early tomorrow.  Just to tired tonight.

Hi,
I spent the day doing housework and laundry, so finally came back to read the posts.  It is evening here and still no end to the rain.  Better than what some of you are experiencing.  Etta Sue, those temps. sound like the Alberta winters I once lived with....

Larry, I surely can relate to your computer problems.  No more networking for me.  Hope you arrive at a solution soon.  A Professor G. Ziegler wrote this:

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
And the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
And the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
Then the socket packet pocket, has an error to report.

There now, don't you feel better?

God Bless and pleasant dreams to all.  Liz

Liz, that was too funny.

Sarah -- Just come in and see us soemtimes.  I like keeping up with your busy life.  Reminds me of my high school years.  Not that long ago, but nostalgic, none the less.

HI TRISH!!  I was thinking about you the other day.  Glad you are doing well.  July will be here before you know it!

Marilyn, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother, at least.  Mary, Martha's sister, perhaps?  Adn the others we don't know about.  Of course, I could be a smart aleck adn say none because "Mary" is an "English" name and not a Hebrew one, but that was not in the spirit of your question.   :P  Was it?? ;D

3.40a.m.Sunday, U.K.

Hello...anyone there?  Pat?

Yes it's poor sleepless me...

Thought I'd call in and say a bleery-eyed "Hi"to you all.

Sunday doggie is certainly a restless "old" lady these days., round and round the bedroom she goes until I take her out for a wee. Guess you know the feeling Pat and Marilyn! It sure is cold and wet out there at the moment and the wind is still strong.

Liz, Hello to you dear sister. Gosh, just think, you are saying 'Goodnight' and I am saying 'Goodmorning.' Amazing, we are still on the same Planet, still in God's timing.

Soni Remember, you promised not to overdo it. :-\

HI Karma

       3 Marys at the Cross Marilyn.

Now I will pop into my new feather-mattress covered bed and try for another little snooze.

Love you all.
Jenny

I'm just popping in to say goodnight to everyone.  I'm still having a lot of trouble getting enough sleep., sooo, if you could., please pray for me.  This is four nights now that I have been unable to sleep, and its really starting to take its toll.

I feel that this is such a "minor" problem, compared to what some people endure., I almost feel guilty even asking.

I have been asked to help with a youth program at one of the local churches.  I am praying about this... I'm just not sure if this is what I should commit to at this time.

Sarah - Its always good to see our young CP members posting.  We know and understand that school work must come first.

Where is Zachary these days?

Marilyn:  I will pray about the washer and dryer for you.  This is a necessity,for sure!

Janet:  I'm so glad sweet Abby is feeling better.  Isn't it nice knowing Grandma's TLC is what makes the little ones feel better., and not just Mommy and Daddy's TLC!...lol

Jane and Nita:  You are so fortunate to have each other as best friends.  I have never had a "best friend" like that.

Etta Sue and Ivalou:  Oh how I wish I had a relationship with my sister like you have with each other.

Has anyone heard from Iain lately?

Now, here I said I was only coming in to NEM for a minute.....time's up...haha.  I wish you all a very restful night!

Love..... Judy M.
