Morning Devotional...

I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself.
John 14:2-3

This promise was made as the death of the Lord drew near. He broached the subject by simply saying that He was going away.

Naturally the disciples were troubled. But His reply calmed their fears--I am coming again to receive you to Myself that where I am, there you may be also.

Still today, we await the fulfillment of this promise. John responded to it in Revelation 22:20. He said, "Even so come, Lord Jesus."

What is our response?
Reg. L. Jordan

Come, Lord, come! We wait for Thee,
We listen still for Thy returning;
Thy loveliness we long to see,
For Thee the lamp of hope is burning.

Hi everyone!!  Busy, busy, busy weekend, so sorry I haven't been around much.  The new semester for the community college  where I work starts tomorrow, so my Christmas break is almost over, and it is back to work for me.

For the first couple of days, anyway, I should have some time to get in here while at work.  Since I work in the Adult Basic Skills/GED department, it sometimes takes a while for things to "get rolling."

Have a awesome week, ya'll!!!!

Title: Prayer request for a friend...
Post by: pinkie on January 04, 2004, 11:09:23 PM
I have a friend whom I've never met - other than online, but she is a fellow photographer.  Doesn't live too far from me, in North east Texas.  Her father has cancer and is going through some very heavy duty chemo treatments.  They will be going back down to Houston (M. D. Anderson cancer hospital, I'm assuming)  Please pray for this family, for strength and healing for her father, and anything else you can think of!  Thanks, I appreciate it!

The prayer meeting before the evening service was a very powerful meeting. The sanctuary was filled by the Holy Spirit. There were only 8 of us present and It was awesome. The Holy Spirit had me on my face crying out to Jesus. The  annointing was so thick and so powerful. It was something so special to me that I am just going to close up for tonight and bask in the Glory of the Son of the living God.

Pinkie I will use this time to pray for your friends father.

Good Night

Hi everyone! It is still the 4th here but it has been a good weekend.

God blesses my life everyday with a new understanding of his character and his Love. This morning we studied parts of Jobe and it was good. I saw my Savoir in another different way.

Life is good because of Him.

Good morning!

What a beautiful cold morning it is here.  Don't you just love it when the snow cracks and squeeks under your feet as you walk on it?  A sound that is only heard when it is really cold.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I love this verse.  We discussed this in Sunday school yesterday.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
My boys asked me the other day while delivering papers about the fear part.  I explained to them that we aren't supposed to be afraid of God, but fear Him.  Fear meaning respect His power, love and authority.

School starts back up here in our house.  Ugh...I don't feel ready.  Can't I just have one more week of vacation? hehehhee...do I sound as bad as the kids.  ;D

I will start  "The Purpose Driven Life" over again today to join the rest of in a discussion later today.  I am so excited about it.  I love to learn!  I pray God will give us all guidence to learn his word correctly and remember it to show and help others.

Thank you for all the Get-Well wishes and most of all for your prayers.
Chris is out working, am concerned quite a bit about his chest, tiredness, but he felt he had to go.
Spoke with him at noon, our daily noon chat, he says that he's actually feeling better being outdoors, he so loves the outdoors. Thanks be to God, it is mild today, occasionally a drizzle but nothing persistant.

I, on the other hand, am more the home buddy although I too love the outdoors, nature that is, but not in bad weather.
Am feeling a bit "selfish" (maybe not ::)), catering to my needs, but I must confess that I've spent most of this day in bed, fell asleep time and time again and not feeling much better rested for it.

Can't do much for Chris while he's out there but am cooking chicken soup for his soul - or to his heart's content, if I don't fall asleep again, ??on the mend with all this sleep?? - ready to serve a hot bowl when Chris gets home.

I thought I had better touch base with you well-wishers, wondering who is up and about, but sooner or later you may stumble upon this post and you will know how much you are appreciated. I thank God for you and pray you into His wellkeeping.

In His love,

Margit

This will be a pretty mixed-up day for me, I think.  We got to bed sometime around 3:30 this morning, after going to Dodge to pick up Beth.  Her plane was late in Pittsburgh, which made the other connections late, and .......you get the picture.  That is the latest I have been up, and the latest I have slept, in years!  Now I feel draggy.

Beth had a wonderful visit with John and their friendship continues to grow and deepen.  His whole family was really nice to her, went out of their way to take them places, and all gave Beth gifts for Christmas.   Beth talked all the way home!

Lots to do today, if I can get the cobwebs cleared away and get to it!  And today is the first chapter of The Purpose Driven LIfe, right?   ;D

Welcome to CP, NICOLANNE!!

CHILDREN SELDOM MISQUOTE YOU.  IN FACT, THEY USUALLY REPEAT WORD FOR WORD WHAT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID.

Janet that was a long day yeaterday.  Take care of yourself and get the rest you need.

Marilyn you have my sympathies, (giggle giggle) dogs are the greatest companions, but when they start the games you go nitzy.

Margit if you are sleeping that much your body is giving you a message.  You need the rest to heal.  The soup will be good for both of you.  Get well soon.

The temperature has at last dropped.  It is minus 11*C .  The puddles are gone, lots of ice.  John fell outside our son's on Christmas Eve and he is still feeling it.  This is so much like the winter before we moved north.    There is a bit of foreboding in that as the next year we had LOTS of snow by the end of October and it stayed late into the season.  Is this the lull before the storn, figuratively speaking?

I have wood to throw and then stack, so cheerio for now.

Wow...I am so excited, plus nerves.

Just had to share with my closest friends.

The most important part of "portrait" work is being interested in your subject.  The idea being that she will be relaxed and natural in front of the lens.  Spend the time "setting up" the shot talking to her about her work, her self, etc.  Some of the best portrait photgs ever take very few shots but spend a lot of time talking to the subject.

Just my two cents.  I'm definitely no good at it... :)

Hello!  Happy New Year!  Oh, boy, back to work.... :(

The good part about going back to work is that I'm one day closer to NEXT Christmas... just kidding.

I hope all of you have a great day.  Any spare time I have on the computer for the next few weeks will be spent setting up a website and doing some programming, so I may be a little scarce, but I'll try to drop in during my lunch hour at work.

Bye for now!  Hey, Karmat!

I am praying that the MRI shows what is causing the pain in my arm and shoulder.  I am ready to give it to anybody that would take it!!!!!  It sure has put a damper on my pc time and when I am driving my car, it really gives me fits.  So I am limiting my pc time.  Well, I can be at the pc but typing causes me lots of pain.  So I have become a semi-lurker!!!

I am praying that everyone has a God-filled day and keeps warm!!!

I found out what is causing all the  ruckus with the dogs. The 4 dogs from next door are running loose in the stree and causing all the cars to stop  they are out there barking at everything. That mama dog has had another batch of puppies, I went over there and tried to shoo them all back into the yard but they wouldn't go in the gate, I think they came out a different way, maybe dug out.

Now I know why Happydog was going over the fence a couple of months ago, that mama dog was in season again. They don't take care of the dogs next dog and she just keeps having puppies every 6 months.

Hi from frozen Vanc. Island.  We have snow and ice everywhere and extremely cold for here.  Something like -10C and dropping.  I am sitting in Ralph's office at the computer, freezing, as workmen are in my home and the garage door is open letting in all the cold.  Sawing outside!!  One more day should finish the work and then can complete the unpacking.  It snowed on moving day...just to add a little challenge to the day.

Our New Year has started with all four of us being ill with a nasty virus that is sweeping BC.  Could have picked a better time to appear as there simply isn't a moment to rest.  So far have all managed to stay in the game....

The suite is grand and couldn't ask for a more wonderful place to live.  Will be all cheery again in a week or so when stress has ended and the kids can return to a normal life.  Pray real hard each day that we will all survive the stress.  Never met so many obstacles from business services in all these years...seems no one tells the truth about anything any longer and care even less!  The costs keep rising like the snow outside....

Want to take this short time to read the postings and get a spiritual lift...so will end this post now.  My computer will not be operating for a week or so and goodness knows when can get back on this one.
Hope everyone is okay and staying close to warm fires, etc.  God is good.  Glad He is in control and not me....God Bless, Liz.

Ok here we go again.

Just wanted to say Hi; a good way to start the new year.

My baby is 39 years old today and my oldest will be 43 on Wednesday.

They bought get to hear my recant their births ( that's the enjoyment of being their mother).

Their births were easier than I tell them; thanks to the good LORD ; I really don't remember much pain at all.

I think the pain comes as they grow older!!

An old saying that I heard a long time ago:

When they are little ; they step on your toes; when they are older; they step on your heart.

But truth be told, they are delightful and good Christians; so I am very pleased.

Going to check around other forums.

Hello everyone!!  Well, things have slowed to a crawl, now.  Three students.  Actually only two because one insisted on playing computer games instead of working so I told him he couldn't get credit for his time here.  He can't leave because he is a minor and doesn't have a ride.  Ugh.

Anywya.  Rainy, rainy, rainy, here.  It has stopped some now, but is still cloudy, and getting colder.

God is good, isn't he.  <waits for response>

Well, Ima gonna go actually do something, maybe.

Hi everyone and a special welcome to our new members greuu and nicolanne.  I look forward to seeing your postings in the days and months ahead.

I have been gone most of the day as today was registration for our winter classes at our computer learning center.  I filled in for the treasurer, a job I had the last three years, as he was handling the registration for a class he is going to teach.  We had a very good turnout and almost all of our 13 classes we are offering are full.  We usually have further registrants before the classes start.  I then stayed and worked with the new treasurer on the books.

Sorry to read that several of you are ailing.  Liz, sure glad to see you got moved and hope the work you are having done will soon be finished and you will be all straightened away in your new home.

We have had rain all day but it is suppose to end late this afternoon and get about 30 degrees colder by morning, but no snow.  It should get to freezing tonight.

I have a lot I need to get done so will signoff for today.

Subject: Left Handed
Little Bobby was spending the weekend with his grandmother after a particularly trying week in kindergarten.
His grandmother decided to take him to the park on Saturday morning. It had been snowing all night and everything was beautiful.

His grandmother remarked, "Doesn't it look like an artist painted this scenery? Did you know God painted this just for you?"

Bobby said, "Yes, God did it and he did it left handed."

This confused his grandmother a bit, and she asked him "What makes you say God did this with his left hand?"

"Well," said Bobby, "we learned at Sunday School last week that Jesus sits on God's right hand."

VISITING DAY

He was looking forward to this moment all day long, after 6 days of
labor and it finally arrived - Visiting Day!

The man with the keys arrived to swing open the large, heavy doors. The
cold gray hall springs to life in the warm glow of light. He could
hardly control His emotions.

The families began to arrive. He peers from the corner of the room
longing for the 1st glimpse of His loved one. He lives for the weekends.
He lives for these visits.

As the cars arrive, He watches intently. Then, finally, they arrive, for
whom He would do anything. They embrace, eat a light lunch and reminisce
how things used to be.

At one point, they break into singing, with interruptions of laughter
and applause. But all too soon it is over. A tear comes to His eyes as
they depart.

Then the man with the keys closes the heavy doors. He hears the key turn
in the lock marking the end of a special day.  There He stands, alone
again.

He knows that most of His visitors will not contact Him again till next
week. As the last car pulls away from the parking lot, Jesus retreats
into loneliness as He waits until next Sunday - Visiting Day.

Is the time that we spend with Jesus an everyday thing, or do we just
visit Him on Sunday. Think about it ...

Hi all. Woohoo America won that hockey game in Holland.

Thank Janet for posting those two stories. I have read the one about Jesus before.
The pain in my neck has moved down  to the area between my shoulder blades but up high.  I think it has to do with the way I sit at the computer and the way the furniture is arranged in my clients houses. I have to keep my head turned to the left to see them and talk to them.

Thanks Janet...  I've never read that before.  Thanks for all the nice little readings you put in here.  I really enjoy them.

Yes, Marilyn...  Good job the USA did!  I think it was in Norway but I can't be sure.

Not much to tell about my day today.  Cleaned a couple of inches of snow off the car before work this morning, scraped about 1/4 inch of ice off at noon to come home.  Since then it's been alternating between slight freezing drizzle and snow flurries.  There's enough salt on the roads that with the temperture staying around 20 they didn't ice up.   Pretty normal January weather, although a little warmer than average...  which will be changing the rest of this week.

My command is this:  Love each other as I have loved you.  John 15:12

All to Jesus, I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

Refrain

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

Refrain

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

Refrain

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

Refrain

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!

~I Surrender All

     For five years, Mr. Van de Venter wavered between the challenge of the Gospel ministry and that of becoming a recognized artist. Here is how he tells it:

     "For some time, I had struggled between developing my talents in the field of art and going into full-time evangelistic work. At last the pivotal hour of my life came, and I surrendered all.

     "A new day was ushered into my life. I became an evangelist and discovered down deep in my soul a talent hitherto unknown to me. God had hidden a song in my heart, and touching a tender chord. He caused me to sing."

     Dr. Billy Graham, wrote this tribute to Mr. Van de Venter:

     One of the evangelists who influenced my early preaching was also a hymnist who wrote 'I Surrender All'—the Rev. J.W. Van de Venter. He was a regular visitor at the Florida Bible Institute (now Trinity Bible College) in the late 1930s. We students loved this kind, deeply spiritual gentleman and often gathered in his winter home at Tampa, Florida, for an evening of fellowship and singing.

It was so nice to see you Cami.  I'm so glad that today's posts cheered you up.

It was so good to see Liz here today too.  Glad that the new suite is so super and hopefully the illness will be much less in your family.  How's Al doing?  This is such a difficult time for you.

Now, it's time to lock the door and open the one for tomorrow.  Maybe we'll be blessed by a post by Iain.  Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Here's the link for you all to find your way there quickly...
