Morning Devotional... ..They shall never perish. John 10:28
Wonderful words, and they mean exactly what they say!
"Never" is a long time! Yes, there are some people who will never perish, who are safe forever in the hands of the Lord. They have eternal life, because the Lord Himself has given it to them.
Are you one of those people?
The Lord tells how to recognize them; they hear His voice and follow Him. They don't just know things about Him, they belong to Him personally, and He keeps them
forever.
If you have never heard His voice and decided to follow Him, let today be the day!

Hebrews 1:13
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation; in whom also after that ye believed,
ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise."
Jesus, my Lord will love me forever,
From Him no pow'r of evil can sever,
He gave His life to ransom my soul;
Now I belong to Him;
Chorus
Now I belong to Jesus,
Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time alone,
But for eternity.
Once I was lost in sin's degradation,
Jesus came down to bring me salvation,
Lifted me up from sorrow and shame,
Now I belong to Him;
Chorus
Now I belong to Jesus,
Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time alone,
But for eternity.
Joy floods my soul for Jesus has saved me,
Freed me from sin that long had enslaved me
His precious blood, He came to redeem,
Now I belong to Him;
Chorus
Now I belong to Jesus,
Jesus belongs to me,
Not for the years of time alone,
But for eternity.

Pat thank-you dear one,the devotional this morning will be a good theme for me to think on this day. John 10 and John 11 are my most fav. chapters of the Holy Bible. I think of My Shepherd leading me out and calling me from the tomb. I was a lost sheep, I followed "strangers voices" and then I heard the voice of the Shepherd and Lord of Life calling me out and saying "I am the Resurrection and the Life"
"And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers." John 10:5
"Jesus said unto her, 'I am the Resurrection and the Life; he that believeth in Me though he were dead, yet shall he live" John 11:25
"and when He had thus spoken He cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus come forth'., And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes........and Jesus said 'loose him and let him go."
John 11:43-44
Jesus calls us all forth from our graves...we are all dead unto sin and lost for eternity until we hear His voice and then we turn away from strangers voices.
If there be anyone enter here today who does not know Jesus as his/her Saviour please ask us to pray for you. Jesus is the Good shepherd and He cares about everone and reaches down intothe darkest valley to lift up the lost and frightened among us. All is not lost dear soul, come to Jesus and find pasture.

Dear Brother,
Missing you.
Love and prayers,Jenny
Hi Jenny-
I see you are online-so I am saying HELLO ;D
I too was lost until my savior called me when I was 11 years old-that was a long time ago-there were times that i didn't follow him as I should-but, I do know his voice now and I think I can hear him more clearly in my walk with him-he has brought me a long way.
I just thought I would stop by and say Hi, before I go to bed.
Hope you all have a blessed day!
Hugs in Jesus

Good morning, everyone!
Jerry and I had a great evening with our small group Bible study. BUT our book didn't come in. Hopefully Pastor Mark will give them to us Sunday. But we had a lot of laughs and sorrows as we discussed our Christmas time with our families and loved ones. One lady is going to Germany on business and doesn't like flying at all. Deborah, the Pastors wife, said to go get some Zanax. She said she did when she went to Florida. The Dr gave her 4 pills. She took one. Got on the plane, then thought it wasn't doing anything and took another! Then later took another!!! The lady that was with her told her later that there was a lot of turbulence and that Deborah was drinking a cup of coffee. Even though Deborah's arm was going up and down during the turbulence, she didn't spill a drop. We all agree....Deborah must be the pill pusher at our church. It was really funny. Maybe you had to be there.....??????
Jerry came home with me and we are getting ready to go to his house. His son called this morning and he is bringing Jerry's car back. Also, little Daniel was taken to the Emergency Room last evening for what Nermin thought was stomach problems. The ER doctor said he was fine but to take him to a pediatrian today to make sure. So we won't get to see Daniel today. :'( :'( :'(
My arm is hurting. Gotta go. ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

Good morning to you all and God bless you as you go through this day by the riches of His Grace!
Pat...thankyou for the devotional today and may God be with you tomorrow as you head out to London AGAIN... :o
Hello Etta Sue...sorry to read about your trial with the MRI thing....aren;t you glad that it is over...
Sonifo...isn't it amazing to rest in the fact that there is only One who knows us so well........
Good morning also to:RUTH, RIA, RACHELLE AND JENNY and God bless you all.
Good morning everyone! (well at least it's morning here on the West Coast of the USA. You people in Holland, Scotland, and England are just on the wrong side of the globe!)
I'm becoming more and more aware this morning of a problem amongst Christians everywhere. It's the "me-centered" syndrome - the syndrome that says that salvation is for the purpose of giving me eternal life, healing my body, bringing me happiness, and making me love everybody in the world.
The problem is - God is left out. What's in it for Him? He was the offended Party, both at the beginning and now. This is His world, and the glory should all be His. What happened to our guilt for having rebelled against Him? Yes, Jesus loves me, but what He loves is a lost, rebellious, self-centered me, a me that isn't worthy of anything but eternal misery because it rebelled against the eternal, holy GOD.
Salvation isn't just to give me all joy all the time, but it's to bring lost sinners to His feet to bow before Him for the first time since the rebellion began. Is that you? Is it me? Do you rejoice this morning (or afternoon) in Jesus Christ because He's your Lord today? May it be so for you. May it be so for me.
Al, I agree with the "me-centered" syndrome". It is easy to say, "what about me". I have recently discovered that it isn't all about me. It is all about God! He is the reason for my being here. I learned this by reading the book "The Purpose Driven Life"
There are a few things you said that I didn't quite understand.
QuoteBy Al Moak~Salvation isn't just to give me all joy all the time
If not joy then how are others supposed to see the light when we are cranky and dwelling on things that should be given to God?
Isn't bowing down to God a good thing? Or is it a thing that is sad? Can we not have joy in doing "
but it's to bring lost sinners to His feet to bow before Him for the first time since the rebellion began" as well?
I think that if people dwell on the fact that we are nothing and no good, it brings down our self esteem and in turn makes us depressed. It does for me anyway. I have been feeling pretty good that I am doing things good for God and making the right choices in my families life.
I know we are not worthy of God, but must we dwell on just that? Can we move on and try to please Him?
Maybe I just didn't get what you were saying.
Good Morning. Pat thank you for the devotion, and to answer your question from last night, Yes the pre-op proceedures can be trying and time consuming.
It seems[/u] like I have so much to do before I go to the hospital. But it isn't reall;y all that much. A little laundry so I don't come home with laundry waiting for me. Writing the checks for the bills that will be due and getting them ready for my son to mail. Paying off the layaway at K-mart for my TV. Groceries. Just a bunch of little things to do. Oh yeah probably the most important is to get the stuff together that I will need there like my toothbrush and hair brush.[/b]
One of the grocery stores in Eureka has recalled beef that was contaminated by the Mad Cow diseased cow. The Winco stores have recalled about 1,000 lbs. That is not a store where IO shop, but Al does. Al did you have to return any meat? ??? I know you don't eat much beef.

Title: Contentment

Contentment
"I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content" (Phil. 4:11).
Paul, denied of every comfort, wrote the above words in his dungeon. A story is told of a king who went into his garden one morning, and found everything withered and dying. He asked the oak that stood near the gate what the trouble was. He found it was sick of life and determined to die because it was not tall and beautiful like the pine. The pine was all out of heart because it could not bear grapes, like the vine. The vine was going to throw its life away because it could not stand erect and have as fine fruit as the peach tree. The geranium was fretting because it was not tall and fragrant like the lilac; and so on all through the garden. Coming to a heart's-ease, he found its bright face lifted as cheery as ever. "Well, heart's-ease, I'm glad, amidst all this discouragement, to find one brave little flower. You do not seem to be the least disheartened." "No, I am not of much account, but I thought that if you wanted an oak, or a pine, or a peach tree, or a lilac, you would have planted one; but as I knew you wanted a heart's-ease, I am determined to be the best little heart's-ease that I can."
"Others may do a greater work,
But you have your part to do;
And no one in all God's heritage
Can do it so well as you."
They who are God's without reserve, are in every state content; for they will only what He wills, and desire to do for Him whatever He desires them to do; they strip themselves of everything, and in this nakedness find all things restored an hundredfold.
---------------------------------------------------
Good afternoon to each and every one.
This spoke highly to me today, perhaps when everyone in the house is sick and energy is at low levels, nerves do get a bit frayed and before one gets unraveled it is good to get hold of this and back in touch with what is truly important, contentment in Christ.
Does God not know us in our sickness as well as in our health, is He not present in every state and does He not know that with which we can walk away, if only we see Him there?
Contentment to us all!
In His love,
Margit
Hey check out this web site...
I'm told that there is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy. 25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing it's character many times.
A few months back, the rock received it's latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed. It's quite an impressive sight.
Click on the link below and check for yourself. There are multiple photos (all angles) of the rock.
Hope you enjoy it (if you haven't seen it before) as much as I did.

I know we are not worthy of God, but must we dwell on just that? Can we move on and try to please Him?
Thanks for asking - that's (unfortunately) the way I come to see the shortcomings in my writing! First of all, you say, "cranky and dwelling on . . ." We certainly must not be either "cranky" or "dwelling on . . ." That's not the proper response to seeing the need to be God-centered. There is joy indeed in knowing Him - to say the least! When seeing Him, as Paul put it, we see "the glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ." What could be more joyful than that - except maybe doing so for all eternity! "bowing down to God" is indeed a good thing, but it's a little hard on the old man (and the old ego). But knowing Him and acknowledging Him as Lord (as He should be) is a WONDERFUL thing! But it also gives up self government - we can't anymore go only our own way.
You also say, "...dwell on the fact that we are nothing and no good, it brings down our self esteem and in turn makes us depressed." Yes, it will do that. But Paul did say, "I know that in me, that is in my flesh, dwells no good thing." That doesn't mean we weren't
created good, but we've ruined that created goodness to a large extent. It's ok to lose self esteem and to feel depressed - at the beginning as we come to Christ. Then, after completely reorienting our minds, we quit worrying about "self" esteem and start to have a "Christ-esteem." It becomes "all about Him."
You go on to say, "I have been feeling pretty good that I am doing things good for God and making the right choices in my families life." And well you should feel pretty good, Sonja! He's begun to create a new you! The new you is doing His will, and you absolutely should take notice of that victory! It's HIS victory, and you join in it with Him! Wow! I do not mean - at all - to say that we should "dwell on" only our unworthiness of God. If we're going to dwell, let's dwell on His goodness.
By the way, this whole tirade (I'm preachy, after all) was not directed at CP people, but at what I perceive has happened in Christianity in general. It has become too "me-oriented" I believe. It needs once again to become more "God-oriented."
4.40 p.m.
Praise God. Some nice things are happening. He doesn't leave me comfortless. He comes to me...Amen!
Jane from church brought me Holy Communion this afternoon. I shared with her how wonderfully the Lord provides and even caused a book to fall at my son's feet for me on the day I requested it. It was out of print., albeit second-hand but Chris really did walk on it. It was on the floor of the shop. Special delivery for Jenny of Mrs. C.E. Cowman "Streams in the desert Vol 2"...this was two years ago. I also have a book called "The Wonderful Prayer"...Jesus tapped me on the shoulder years ago and told me to go in a second hand furniture shop. The book was sticking out on a shelf...For me!
I explained to Jane that I had tried to order a book from Books 4 Life today and was having problems. Well that is now sorted and Chris the young man at the company has just sent me an e mail and is sending me a gift of "Heavenly Man" (the story of Brother Yun leader of Chinese House church) with my order for "The Purpose Driven Life".
So I received the Sacraments, witnessed to God's small miracles and then received more from His hand. Wonderful! Praise God! I haven't done a thing to deserve this. He is so Good to us folks.
Well Chris at "Books 4 Life," thank-you dear brother. Pat I told him about C.P. Hope he pops in.
Hello Pastor Al.
Love Jenny.
Jenny until you get your book you can read the chapters on the web PDL web site, I sent them your email adress yesterday and hope you got some mail from there.
Attention Lee
Well I am not going to spend so much time on the computer. Lee Thank you brother for reminding that God does not like idols. I confess that my computer turned onto my own personal idol. So I am asking for the Lord's forgiveness and getting off now.
Hey, it's just past noon here in the eastern part of North America and we're already seeing some great messages that will cause us to think more deeply on God's Word.
I'm just rushing around. Been on the phone with the University of Western Ontario about my crowns and I might not be going down there tomorrow...will find out a little later on today.
Now, I'm showered and ready to go out into the cold (brrrrrr...) and do some errands.
I wanted to share this with you all. It really means a lot to me...
"He paid a debt He didn't owe,
Because I owed a debt I couldn't pay!"
It really fits in today I think.
I didn't know you could read the P.D.L. on the net, Marilyn. That's good to know!
Good morning to you all, wow, this really great to read all your wonderful posts today! Marilyn, my friend, please know my prayers go with you. Jenny, thanks so much for your post; it was especially helpful. Pat, your devotional today helps so much, too. I noticed, reading the past posts, about Bro. Iain being missed; is he okay? Thanks to the Lord that I am saved, and one of His children, and I thank Him daily for that! He gives me such great joy in His love, and I am so undeserving! Thanks to all of you again for a very encouraging morning!
Love in Him,
Cami
Hi Cami...Nice to see you. Yes, we are all unworthy or what our Savior did for us on the cross. It reminds me of a hymn I was sharing with someone else this morning...
Unworthy
I am unworthy of the price He paid for me.
I am unworthy of His death on Calvary,
I am unworthy to call upon His name;
Yet He loved me, still He loves me,
Praise His holy name.
I am unworthy of the blood He freely gave.
I am unworthy, for in sin I was a slave.
I am unworthy that He should bear my shame;
Yet He loved me, still He loves me,
Praise His holy name.
I am unworthy of the place He has prepared.
I am unworthy of His love that He has shared.
I am unworthy to claim His precious name;
Yet He loved me, still He loves me,
Praise His holy name.
Here is some interesting information that Ireceived in my email today.
On the aluminum cap atop of the Washington Monument
are two words: Laus Deo.
No one can see these words. In fact ... most visitors to the
monument have no idea they are even there and...for that
matter...probably couldn't care less!
But there they are...555 feet, 5.125 inches high...perched
atop the monument to the father of our nation...overlooking
the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia
...capital of the United States of America.
Laus Deo! Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words...
out of sight and, one might think, out of mind...but very
meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the
most powerful city in the world. And what might those two
words...comprised of just four syllables and only seven
letters...mean?
Very simply ... "Praise be to God!"
Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848
when James Polk was President of the United States, it
was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated
and opened to the public.
It took twenty five years to finally cap the memorial with
the tribute Laus Deo!
Praise be to God! From atop this magnificent granite and
marble structure...a visitor can take in the beautiful
panoramic view of the city with its division into four major
segments. And from that vantage point one can also
easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles
l'Enfant...a perfect cross imposed upon the landscape...with
the White House to the north...the Jefferson Memorial to
the south...the Capitol to the east...and the Lincoln Memorial
to the west.
A cross...you say? How interesting! And...no doubt...intended
to carry a meaning for those who bother to notice.
Praise be to God!
Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings.
As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the
memorial stones share a message. On the 12th Landing is
a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore; on the 20th is a
memorial presented by some Chinese Christians; on the 24th
a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York
and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and
Proverbs 22:6.
Praise be to God!
When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid
on July 4th, 1848, deposited within it were many items
including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society.
Praise be to God!
Such was the discipline, the moral direction, the spiritual
mood given by the founder and first President of our unique
democracy..."one nation, under God."
I am awed by Washington's prayer for America. Have you
never read it? Well now is your opportunity...read on!
"Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou
wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that
Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate
a spirit of subordination and obedience to government;
and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one
another and for their fellow citizens of the United states
at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be
pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy,
and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and
pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of
the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a
humble imitation of whose example in these things we
can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication,
we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
Laus Deo! As you might have guessed ...
I kind of like the idea that our Pledge of Allegiance includes
the phrase "under God."
It is clear when one studies the history of our great nation
that Washington's America was one of the few countries in
all the world established under the guidance, direction and
banner of Almighty God, to whom was given all praise, honor
and worship by the great men who formed and fashioned her
pivotal foundations.
And...when one stops to observe the inscriptions found in
public places all over our nation's capitol...one will easily
find the signature of God. We are a nation under God!!! Laus
Deo!!!
Praise be to God!!!
"Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand
guard in vain.
(Psalm 127: 1)
A History of the Aluminum Cap of the Washington Monument.
Let the ACLU try to remove THAT!
I was doing some reading on the net of various topics and came across an article from 1994 that I found to be quite interesting this morning.
You've all heard of Pilgrim's Progress, well, the author mentions this well known book.
Here's the link to it:
Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners (http://www.fcfonline.org/94/012394.htm)
In the article, is the following paragraph which I think fits into what
Al Moak was writing about this morning. And remember that this was written by Mr. Cole back in 1994--10 years ago! (and where he mentions "American", we could say "Canadian" as well):
I fear that as American Christians, living in this day of a watered down, feel good about yourself "gospel," we have forgotten what favors we have received from God and how unworthy we are of them. My aim today is to get any of you who may have wandered into Forgetful Green out of there as you think again on God's abundant grace that covers all your sins.[/list]
Hello everyone!! Yes, Marilyn, I am like you. I, too, was convicted of spending too much time at this one-eyed things. (OK, I confess, it took a little prodding from my better half to get me to admit it). Mine was more of just wasting time. There really is no need to read the same thread 12 times when nothing has been added, ya know. And I was worse at DPC than here. :-\ Now, I try to pop in, read, post what I have to say, and move on doing other things. It's not so much
less time on the computer, just using what time I am here more effectively.
One thing I really want to do this year is keep a prayer journal. Most times, I start praying and I move so fast that I never give God time to speak. By making myself writing, I may pray about fewer "things" but I find that my prayers are more thought out, and I can feel His presence more.
In reading the posts today, a song came to my mind. Simple really, and I am sure you all know it -- it goes something like this:
Jesus loves me, this I know
For the Bible tells me so,
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
The Bible tells me so.
Wow! Marilyn, that's something!
No Marilyn..I didn't receive that. You did mention that you were participating however on PDL. I had a lot of interference on site yesterday and Firewall blocked a lot. I did send an e mail to you last night Marilyn.
The P.D.L site caused me some havoc today so I shall just look forward to reading "The Purpose Driven Life" when it arrives. I will just hobble along behind you all and read your posts about this book folks. It was popular here a couple of years ago. A local church appears to be using P.D.L as its Lenten course this year.
Another excellent book, flavour of the month a few years ago when I first became "born again" is Colin Urquharts "My Dear Child.....Listening to God's Heart"........
"I love you, because I love you. I have called and chosen you. You have been afraid to come closer to me because of your sense of inadequacy., but I want you close to Me. I like you."
PatI wrote to Iain yesterday. No reply. Is he alright.
I am off to add some more to my rug so won't be back until tomorrow.
Goodnight, God bless.

Personal Life: The Call of God
Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful;
nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of
righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
--Hebrews 12:11
"Your calling," said Meister Eckhart to the clergy of his day,
"cannot make you holy; but you can make it holy. No matter how
humble that calling may be, a holy man can make it a holy calling.
A call to the ministry is not a call to be holy, as if the fact of
his being a minister would sanctify a man; rather, the ministry is
a calling for a holy man who has been made holy some other way
than by the work he does. The true order is: God makes a man holy
by blood and fire and sharp discipline. Then he calls the man to
some special work, and the man being holy makes that work holy in
turn....
Every person should see to it that he is fully cleansed from all
sin, entirely surrendered to the whole will of God and filled with
the Holy Spirit. Then he will not be known as what he does, but as
what he is. He will be a man of God first and anything else second.

successful. Keep me focused today on being the person You want me
to be, no matter how significant or insignificant the work You ask
me to do. Amen."

Al Moak!
You got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning Bro!
Of course our salvation is to be enjoyed!
When we understand just how far we had fallen in our sinful lost state, and then understand what our Redeemer has done for us,well... how can we not enjoy our salvation!
If we do not enjoy it, then what did Jesus say..
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,, these fruits will show others how much you love Me and how grateful you are for what I have done for you, that you want to be just like Me!
The joy of the Lord is our strength,,, We are continually told to rejoice, to praise, to worship to sing His praises, to play musical instruments in our singing of the psalms.
I detect a little bit of sadness in you this morning my brother Al, and I pray the Holy Spirit will cause your heart once more to sing, as He reminds you of the great and precious gifts you have been given, lift up your heads , for your salvation draweth near!
I love you Al let's see that big smile again, come on now.
love Chris.

I pray that you...may have power...to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.-- Ephesians 3:17-18

Music: William B. Bradbury, 1862
Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
Refrain
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! This I know,
As He loved so long ago,
Taking children on His knee,
Saying, "Let them come to Me."
Refrain
Jesus loves me still today,
Walking with me on my way,
Wanting as a friend to give
Light and love to all who live.
Refrain
Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven's gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.
Refrain
Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.

Hi everyone.
Karma, we should all sing "Jesus Loves Me" from time to time. It has such a wonderful message of His love for us and that while we are weak, he is strong.
Good to read all the postings today and the devotional thoughts.
It is still cold down our way but nothing like you are having north of us. It has been sunny and still all day. I kept my hand over my mouth while I was out this morning. The YMCA gym was pretty chilly this morning as I walked and I had to keep my hat, coat and gloves on to stay warm while walking. For some reason the walk really wore me out this morning. This evening is choir practice and I sure hope the room is warm.
Thanks Larry! What a wonderful reminder that Jesus truly does love us!
It's such a blustery day here. I had some errands and did a couple but it's so cold getting in and out of the car. Even Geordie was happy to get back home.
I do have two more to do but I thought I'd just warm up first.
Just heard from Janet and her computer is "fried" (her words) and she'll be able to use Darrel's once in awhile to get in here but this is just horrible.
I hope I don't have that happen to mine.
I also hope that we see Janet here soon.
LOVE YOU JANET!!!

Mr Iain, I love you, I like so much to read or your thoughts here.
Mieka,
Your dictionary exercise there reminded me of a game I used to play in elementary school. I would take a thesaurus, pick a word and just follow the trail to see where I would end up. I think the oddest one I ever did was start at "love" and end up at "hate." Amazing that that is possible, but with the English language, it does seem to be.
I am able to sneak in here a minute before Bernard gets home. He is working on two webpages, so he will probably need the 'puter when he gets home. If you don't "see" me again tonight, I'll check in in the morning, or something.
Janet, sorry to hear of your 'puter problems

Hi Meika! How are you doing my bonnie lass?
It's blowing a hooligan here tonight!!
Tee Hee!! This might confuse 'Google!'
I just popped in for a quick 'catch-up' as I am tres busy these days. Good to see you though and I'm still praying for you.
Take care.

Here I am, Mieka!! I will be able to come upstairs to Darrel's office and use his computer when he isn't using it, and the parts for mine should get here on Monday. Curtis took mine to his house, so I will take the parts to him to fix it for me as soon as they arrive.
Lee, I had been thinking maybe my computer was becoming something of an idol in my life--maybe He is trying to tell me something?? I hsd just told Pat a couple of days ago that I was going to be spending less time online.
Etta Sue, I'm sorry your MRI was such a bad experience. Beth has had several of them, she says the noise is the part that bothers her the most. She is pretty skinny, so she doesn't feel so closed in as you did. I do hope they got useful information from it!
This is a straight keyboard, and I am used to the natural (ergonomic) one, so I am making lots of mistakes. I will try to correct them, but forgive me if I miss some.
Chris, I really agree with your last post---we should NOT be somber, unhappy people. Christians should be the most joyful people in all the world!! Sonja, you asked VERY good questions, and it is such a joy to see how you are growing in your walk with the Lord.
I will go check the photos and the book discussion now. See you later!
Marilyn: The site you gave us is really outstanding. And, beautiful artwork on the rock! I am praying for a quick recovery for you - wish I could be there to help a bit.
Jenny: You mentioned having little surprises such as finding a book and being given a present - a Christian book. Those are the things you will always remember - the little treats of random kindness that drop in our lives.
Pat: It must really be cold in your neck of the woods. (Now have Meika try to figure out "neck of the woods" ;D The cold here is something to deal with but icy sidewalks are always a fear for me and I don't really know why. More dental work for you?
I so appreciate reading everyone's posts. Carol
Well I am home again and will check the folders here and on SN then get back off the computer.
I am thinking of getting out some fabric to cut squares for a quilt to work on while I am recuperating. Sound like a good idea? Yea!!!
TTY-ALL
Translation Talk To Y-all Later.
Well, since some are saying, "xxx, I agree with you" and then others are saying, "zzz, I agree with you" I'm going to say that I agree 100% with the following quotation.
QuoteThe problem is - God is left out.
As far as I'm concerned, "easy-believism" is rampant in Christendom and I don't think it's a good thing.
So many people say, "Pray this little prayer and you'll be saved". What about repentance? This seems to have gone by the wayside.
Oh, that we can all sing this hymn together...
The Enormous Load of Human Guilt
The enormous load of human guilt
Was on my Saviour laid;
With woes as with a garment He
For sinners was arrayed.
And in the fearful pangs of death
He wept, He prayed for me;
Loved and embraced my guilty soul
When nailed to the tree.
O love amazing! love beyond
The reach of human tongue;
Love which shall be the subject of
An everlasting song.
Eternity, though infinite,
Is short enough to trace
The virtues of His healing wounds,
The wonders of His grace.
Ye men, rejoice in Jesu's blood,
Ye angels, join your lays;
In one harmonious endless choir
Sing His eternal praise.
William Williams, 1717-1791
QuoteDo you rejoice this morning (or afternoon) in Jesus Christ because He's your Lord today?
Oh, I pray that I can and will DAILY rejoice that he's my Lord and Saviour.
Certainly we'll be joyful most of the time in our Salvation but what about the times we fail our Master? Should be be joyful at these times? Do we ever fail our Saviour? I know that I do.
Since this morning, I've also had an article I wanted to share with you all. I wondered when to do it and now is when I'm going to do it.
You've all heard about
Evangelism Explosion which was started in
Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Florida by D. James Kennedy.Well, Mr. Kennedy wrote this and I think it's wonderful. Copy it to your computer where you can read it in your quiet time and think about it.
By D. James Kennedy
"For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast."
(Ephessians. 2:8,9)
I want to tell you something which is at once so simple that the wayfaring man, though a fool, need not err therein; something that even a seven year-old can understand; and yet so profound that there are many with college degrees will not be able to understand.
I am going to speak about the amazing, the astounding, the incredible grace of God. Now that would seem to be a simple enough concept. Grace is a word we are all familiar with. There is nothing complex about it. We ought to be able to understand its meaning. And yet I have never met a person who had not come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who could explain what it really means. The Scripture says,
"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned."
(1 Corinthians 2:14)
What indeed is the mystery called grace? Does grace mean that if we do the best we can that God will bless us and take us to Heaven? Is it not simply another way of talking about justice? Is grace justice?
I suppose that if man wrote a bible, the basic message would simply be this: Good people go to Heaven and bad people go to Hell. I say that because that's what most people think the Bible says anyway! It seems to make sense. It is equitable. It is fair. It is just.
But there is just one small problem. There are no good persons. The Bible states it plainly, unequivocally:
"There is none that doeth good, no, not one."
(Romans 3:12)
If there is none that do good -- and if only the good people go to Heaven -- then Heaven is going to be a very lonely place. So we do have a problem with the idea of justice.
Furthermore, there is another problem with this idea of justice; the idea of quid pro quo, this for that. You do so much good, you get so much reward. Would God then be indebted to us! The problem with quid pro quo is there is not an ounce of worship in quid or a hallelujah in quo. I'm afraid that our message of justice fall far short of the wondrous message which is contained in the Bible -- a message not of justice but of grace.
You say, "Ah, I'm beginning to see it now. Grace is love, right?"
Well, not quite. Now it is true that all grace has within it an element of love, but it is not true that all love has within it an element of grace. For example: You meet the most beautiful, most lovely girl you have ever seen in your life, and you fall head over heels in love with her. Isn't that gracious of you! Of course not because she is altogether lovable.
Or as another example: You love God. Is that grace? Not at all, for God is certainly worthy of our love. No, love doesn't quite do it. It is not merely love, but it is love to the unlovely, to the unworthy. It is love with a downward reach. It is reaching down to those in need and to those who are even detestable because of their filth or their habits, and giving to them some token of your love. That, my friend is mercy. It is an admirable trait, but still it falls far short of grace.
To grace must be added another element. Grace is far more than justice, far more than love, far more than mercy. As I have told many a person, the first thing you need to understand about the Gospel is that it is not just; it is not fair.
Christianity is not fair. Let me hasten to add that there are two ways in which something cannot be fair. It can be less than fair, and that is usually what we mean by that term, or it can be more than fair. It can be supra-fair, and that is what Christianity is.
Grace is love reaching downward, not only to the unworthy, but it is favor granted to the undeserving, rather even to those who deserve positive punishment.
In this great summation of all the truth of Scripture and the Christian faith, the Bible says,
"By grace ye are saved"-- by that kind of undeserved favor and mercy reaching down to ill-deserving, Hell-deserving sinners such as I. That is the meaning of grace by which we are saved.
Yet, still there are those who struggle with this. Sometimes their problem is a matter of their pride. They cannot bring themselves to say, "I am an undeserving, an ill-deserving, a Hell-deserving sinner." That is too difficult for them. Their necks are too stiff to bow to those words, and so they cannot receive the grace of God.
Ministers oftentimes ask people, "Are you saved?" I think we might do better to ask people, "Have you ever been lost?" because that is precisely the problem so many people have. They cannot be saved because they have never really felt that they were lost. The only one who can be saved is the one that realizes they are hopelessly lost. And so I would direct the question to you: Have you ever been lost? I mean really lost?
To be really lost means to not know where you are going. In a spiritual sense it means that you are going to leave this world and leap out into darkness -- not knowing where you are going. In fact, in the truest sense, it means that you are going to Hell!
I am reminded of John Newton who wrote the great hymn "Amazing Grace." Newton was one of the most blasphemous man his friends had ever known. He was a slave trader. He was captured by the very slaves he traded and was made a slave of the slaves.
One day he escaped. While on a ship bound for England, a violent storm hit. Newton was terrified. He thought, "If only there was some mercy for me. Mercy? How could there possible be mercy for someone like me?" Suddenly the face of God burst upon his heart and mind. He realized the wonder of the love of Christ, the grace of God that was willing to reach down and accept
even one such as he. That hour his eyes were opened, and he stepped into the Kingdom of God.
Newton later wrote that marvelous hymn, "Amazing Grace."
Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I was once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see.
You sing it. Do you mean it? Do not stiffen your neck. Do not claim your abilities; come with your disabilities. Do not come with your hands filled with all manner of good things, supposedly which you have done. Every religion of the earth that I know about says, "Something in my hand I bring" as it approaches God. The New Testament alone says, "Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the cross I cling." When you take hold of that cross, in that moment the grace of God flows into your life, and you are transformed!
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things become new."
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
That is the wonder of grace. That is what creates a heart filled with love and adoration for Jesus Christ.
Some say there is no such thing as a free lunch. That is the first lesson of economics. Is it different in the spiritual world? No, my friend, it is not. Heaven is free to you and me; but it was not free to Him. It was paid for at an infinite cost by bloody sweat and tears ... by the excruciating agony on the cross ... by the wrath of God Almighty that fell upon Him who bore our sins upon the tree. An infinite penalty paid in our place.
Those of us who trust in Him will one day sit down at the marriage feast of the Lamb and enter into all the freeness of paradise. We will settle down in mansions on high, in a new body, in a new universe, forever and ever, where time shall be no more. We shall rejoice forevermore in that land where there is no pain, no suffering, no tears, and no sorrow. When God Himself, with His own finger, shall wipe away the very last tear. And it is all free to us!
Jesus paid it all. The offer is extended. It is received by the simple hand of faith. If you have not already, won't you reach out that hand right now and accept that incredible gift offered by that astounding and amazing grace of God, that you too might step out of the darkness of death and sin into the Kingdom of God!
Prayer: O God, may your Holy Spirit open the eyes of the blind that they may see themselves in all their filthiness and uncleanness and unworthiness, and cast themselves before Thy Cross, O Christ and say, "O Lord Jesus, I am unworthy of the least of Thy favors. Cleanse me by Thy blood. Wash me by that stream that flows from Calvary's mountain that I may be made whiter than snow; that I may enter with Thee into the Kingdom of God. Change me right now and grant me the free gift of life eternal." In Thy name I ask. Amen.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.

I love you all very much in our Lord Jesus Christ, but I'm a little concerned that some have misread so grossly my post this morning. I nowhere said anything about a joyless Christian life. I nowhere said Christians should have no joy. What I simply said was that the Christian should not be joyful ALL the time - the Christian life is not about us - it's about God. It's not only about our deliverance from all negatives, but it's about our deliverance from our sin through the death of our Savior.
As that wonderful hymn by Isaac Watts said, "Forbid it Lord, that I should boast, save in the death of Christ my God. All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His blood. See from His head, His hands, His feet, sorrow and love flow mingled down; did e'er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown." I do believe that Christianity in general has somewhat forgotten these things in our day - but they are the glory of our religion, and they are to God's glory!
Thanks Al... I was wondering the same thing. I never saw those things in your post this morning.
Let's sing that hymn you quoted, Al...

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/when-i-survey-the-wondrous-cross.mid)
(Click to hear music)
"May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ." Galatians 6:14
Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707. Charles Wesley reportedly said he would give up all his other hymns to have written this one.
Music: "Hamburg," Lowell Mason, 1824; first appeared in The Boston Handel and Haydn Society Collection of Church Music, third edition, 1825
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o'er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

I am gone now, See y-all in the morning. I am going to bible study tonight I will post fopr todays PDL chapter tomorrow.
This post is for everyone visiting and do not post in this forum..........
Jenny and Al introduced the most important question you will ever face in your lives. "Your eternal future." In essence, they were speaking of your sin nature. Yes, you are a horrble sinner and there is no way you can personally atone for your own sins. You are not alone, for our Lord Jesus Christ tells us that we were born into sin and will be sinners untill the day we die. However, though we are sinners and though we hate our sins, Jesus Christ made it possible for all mankind to break free form our sins by His dying on the cross for us. He tells us: 'Take up your cross and follow after Me." There are two kinds of sins, one, unconfessed sins of our past, and two, our present sin nature. God has promised that you will surely be cast into the Lake of Fire if you die in rejection of Christ. There will be no saying "I'm sorry God," after you are dead. It will be too late. In affect, we are in a life-living "Boot Camp". Either you learn, or you don't. It's a "Pass Fail" system whether you or I like it or not. Jesus says: "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the father, but by Me." You MUST be broken, and you MUST come to the decision that you hate your sinfull life, and that you want forgiveness for having rebelled against Him for having lived a sinfull life in rebellion of God, and that you want to be set free from the bondage of sin. If you honestly believe this, then you are close to chosing heaven over hell for all eternity. The people in this forum all came to this decision at a point in their life because they recognized they were in fact wretched sinners, and were in need of a savior. That Savior is Jesus Christ, there is no other. Now, what must you do to be free from your sinful life? Jesus Christ did NOT make it easy, though some might tell you otherwise. Becoming a true believer requires that you tell the Lord that you recognize you are a sinner and truly want His forgiveness. You must turn over your life to Him, and follow after Him. That means a total change in your lifestyle. You must leave your present sinful life and ask Him to change your life to that of a Christian. No, you will not be instantly changed. It will take effort on your part. You will now (If you ask the Lord to take charge of your life) spend a lifetime in Christian learning. You will slowly advance from the "milk" of the Word of God, to the "meat" of the Word of God. But, from the moment you make the decision to be a follower of the Lord God (Jesus Christ), You will be on the most wonderful journey you have ever taken in your life. And, you will be assured that God will one day say to you: "Well done my faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord". It's either heaven or hell........It's your choice.
Marilyn........
You're cute, and I love you. I'm truly praying for you kiddo. We all know who the real physician is, and He's 100% in charge. Praise to Him for His promises that He will never recant. Take good care of that shoulder (Arm, neck).

Welcome angief888!
We're so happy to be able to welcome you here![/b]
Pat..........
We watch Kennedy every morning just before "Love Worth Finding'. Your post was directed at everyone's heart, and I had posted mine just before reading yours. It hits right where it was meant to hit. A wonderful post Pat. A real thought provoker.
Amen to both yours and Al's posts.
Thanks Lee...
I haven't seen him on TV. I don't think it's possible to see him in Toronto but I certainly appreciate him.
I thought that was a very good article, Lee.
Friends, I'm late getting in from work and have not had time to read anything except the conversation on this page in which I'm posting. Therefore, I won't enter into today's discussion at all.
First, I have to leave at 2 am (about 5 hours from now) to drive my son to Atlanta for an emergency treatment with the doctor - he has been in bed for the last 4 days and I feel it's imperative to take the risk driving tired to get him there to be seen.
Second, another child of mine has become clinically depressed and is currently suicidal. Prayers needed, please for both these children of mine.
Now, the last purpose of the post. You remember some time back we had a conversation about forgiveness. And I had commented that the "forgive us our trespasses AS we forgive those who trespass against us" found in the Lord's Prayer have meant so much to me down through the years.
Well, I take a daily newsletter that gives small quotations from the Bible using several different translations.
I've copied the verse presented today and want to bring it here for y'all to review. It seems to speak to my understanding of the Lord's Prayer.
Love, Ruth Ann
Today's selection is Matthew 6:14-15
American Standard Version
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
King James Version
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
New International Version
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
New King James Version
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
It has been a wonderful evening reading all of the posts and listening to the music as I read.
Oh what a wonderful Lord we have. I cannot begin to think what life would be like without HIM.
All Praise and Glory goes to our glorious saviour.
Hi Ruth and Ruth Ann... Thanks so much for your input tonight.
Yes, we do serve a wonderful Saviour.
Hi Pat....great devotional this morning. To think that we belong to Jesus and nothing can change that! Love that song... "Now I belong to Him" I used to sing it at different churches.

Hi Ruthie!
Yes Karma....a prayer journal is a good thing! Sometimes I had written a list of prayer requests and forgotten. Later when I find the list, I see that God has already answered most of them. Then I praise His Holy name.

I gotta start reading more closely. I feel like I have missed something. :-\
Anyway, I was thinking today, after reading through the prayer requests, and in different forums today, we really need to pray for eachother. One of Travis's favorite songs right now is called "Sheltering Trees" by Newsong. It goes like this in part of it:
We all need, sheltering trees
Friends in our life who get down on their knees
Lift us up unto the King of Kings,
We all need sheltering trees.
I know that I, for one, take my Christian friends for granted a lot of time. I am committing myself to pray daily for this website (not only that it would be an encouraging uplifting place to rest, but that we would start to see people actually start to come to Jesus Christ for salvation because of it), but also for each of you, and whatever needs (spiritual, physical, financial, social) you may have. I want to be a spiritual tree for you. Anybody with me?
Thank you Pat for that message from D. James Kennedy. I have been in Evangelism Explosion for 18 years now and often I hear Dr. Kennedy on the radio. One time coming home from visiting people with my team we heard him and when we reported back at the church I told them we had listened to him on the way back.
It is true that heaven is a free gift and we cannot earn it and do not deserve it, but before a person can receive this free gift, he must be willing to receive Jesus as Saviour, receive Jesus as his resurrected Lord, transfer his trust from what he has been doing to earn his way to heaven to what Jesus did on the cross and REPENT.
I make sure that they are willing to repent and that means turning around and going the other way before they say the sinner's prayer to receive Christ.
I am very aware of easy believism, and that usually doesn't happen when I am talking to someone.
We have a Wonderful Saviour to give us eternal life when we don't deserve it. Praise God.

Karma I haven't heard that one, but yes we do need sheltering trees. I for one am praying for the folks on CP, not each need specifically but our Lord knows the details. There are times that we need prayer and there is no where to turn, Thankfully I have a few dear friends who know to pray with little prompting.
Ruth Ann, If only I was closer I would gladly share the wheel with you. Interestingly John is headed to GA as well. I am praying for your safety as well as the health of your family.
I received word tonight of the illness of a pastor friend of ours. I grew up with his wife and she too is ill with a viral infection. She is the only "bread winner", is working 16 - 18 hours a day, and sounds worn out. Keep these folks in your prayers would you. This is the first I have heard from them since 1996.
Well it is late, I am off to bed.
Night all

Praying for her cable to get fixed shortly.
