Jeremiah 17:7-8 says...
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Morning Devotional...My times are in Thy hand. Psalm 31:15
"The affairs of my entire lifetime are in your hands," is a literal Chinese translation of this verse.
Truly the only place of eternal security is in the hand of the Good Shepherd, who gave His life for the sheep.
With sins forgiven and the peace of God in ones heart, there is courage to face the day today and no need to fear death at the end of our journey.
The tender hand of the Lord Jesus will deliver all His own safely to the Father's Home.

My times are in Thy hand;
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul I leave
Entirely to Thy care.
My times are in Thy hand;
Whatever they may be,
In joy or pain; 'tho dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.
My times are in Thy hand;
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father's hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.
My times are in Thy hand;
Jesus, the Crucified;
Those hands my cruel sins had pierced
Are now my guard and guide.
My times are in Thy hand;
I'll always trust in Thee;
And, after death, at Thy right hand
I shall forever be.

Yaaay!!!! Our internet connection is good again!
Hello, gang.
Well, that's good news, Nards.
Just a quick check-in tonight from our hotel in Denver. We had a nice flight but then had a time finding our hotel. We finally got here and then went out to eat. Came back and have been working for the last hour or so trying to get this wireless system to work. Initially the desk clerk gave me an incorrect access code but just now was able to get online. Remains to be seen how will this wireless works in a hotel.
I haven't read any postings for today and am too tired to do so tonight so will sign off for now. I will try to check in tomorrow morning.
Great to hear from you, Larry!
Enjoy your time away.
WEll woohoo Bonnie has moved into her new (to her) townhouse! It is a nice place for her.
The weather has been beautiful this week, my garden is coming up nicely. I will have to do some weeding soon though. We are getting enough rain to keep the ground moist but not so much that it would flood it.
Mom had a wonderful time this week with company. It is so nice that the folks were able to drive up to see her.
Well it is late and I am going to wind down an go to bed.
Night all

MATTHEW 7 : 2 NIV
For in the same way you judge others,
you will be judged, and with the measure
you use, it will be measured to you.
Jesus is concerned that we not
have a critical spirit toward others,
especially about their motives as to
why they did something.
We can't assume to know another
person heart; only God can.
When we are unfairly critical,
overly harsh, or unduly judgmental,
we need to remember that God will
use that same standard on us.
I don't know about you, but i need grace.
So do those i love.
I'm going to try very hard to be as
gracious toward others as i'm trusting that
God is going to be gracious with me.
PRAYER...
Forgive me, Abba Father,
for the times that i,ve been
far more critical of others
than i should be.
Arouse within me a passion
to be gracious toward others
so that they can see Your
graciousness shining through me.
In Jesus name i pray. AMEN.
PHIL WARE.

Alma, I hope your birthday is wonderful. Each time a birthday rolls around, I feel I've been given the gift of a whole new life in front of me to live with and for my Lord. I wonder what's going to "come down my pike" and how He and I will handle it together.
Well, Judy, it's good to hear from you - y'all take care of yourselves.
And, Nards, I have experienced problems with my phone. In my instance, it was because I have lived in this house for almost 40 years and I couldn't get the phone folks to believe that the phone was cutting in and out. Seems my problem was that the wire had (I guess) kind of dry rotted and was sometimes making good contact and sometimes not.
Well, hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Ruth Ann
I want to appologize for not telling everyone that I went on a trip with my hubby to Florida... I haven't been on line for weeks....
Thank you so much for the birthday wishes back on the 17th
and the cake :D
.....at the moment I'm getting ready to take the kids for a 2 week camping trip to Colorado... packing for 7 people is very time consuming ;)
God bless

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALMA!!
Hayley, it sure is good to see you again! Have fun camping! I know summers are busy for nearly everyone, and especially for those with kids still at home. So just pop in when you can, and also, let us see more of your lovely artwork!
Ria, I sure will be thinking of you (and missing you) while you are offline. I so enjoy your posts---you always have something good to say, and encourage us, even when you feel depressed yourself. God bless you, dear one!
Larry, thank you for taking the time and trouble to stop in and say hello while you are on vacation. We appreciate it---and you! :)
Hey, Ruth Ann! Good to read your post today, too. You are always a ray of sunshine.
We have sunshine today, and a really lovely day. But they are warning us the HOT weather is coming back. :( It surely was nice while it lasted, though!
I have lots of cleaning to do, and it isn't doing itself, so........
Hello Hayley! Colorado is a beautiful place. One of my favorite place to go on vacation. Have fun with those kiddo's.
Happy Birthday, Alma!!!
I am off to take the kids swimming. We got rained out the other day. I don't see a cloud in the sky so I think we are safe.
Have a good day.

I got a call this morning. A friend wanted to know if I had had breakfast yet. So I went out for breakfast with her. It is great to visit with friends. Sure wish she still didn't work so we would have more time to spend together.
This afternoon Ivalou, and two friends are going to Conner Prairie to the 'Symphony on the Prairie'. We are taking lawn chairs and a picnic. Then at 6 p.m. is the symphony concert. At dark, is fireworks. Last year it rained us out. We were going tomorrow but it is predicting rain. Like Sonja, there isn't a cloud in the sky today.
I am hoping to get caught up on here so I can go out and wash the car! WooHee!!!
Happy Birthday, Alma!!!

Ya'll don't have clouds in the sky 'cause they are all here! :(
Some wild beast tore into Travis's little plastic inflatable swimming pool last night. Perhaps a raccoon, or bear, or mountain lion, or tiger, or shark, or something. hahaha. Probably just a dog. Not sure why they did it, though. between snakes on the front porch and critters on the back, I'm not sure I want to go outside right now!
Glad to see you Hayley. Didn't want to bug you , but it is good to see you back!
Laters all!
Ria, you are going to be missed on CP but I know that you will be so happy to get the laminate finished.
We'll "keep the home fires burning" till you are able to post again. Just don't stay away too long as everyone misses you so much.
I really enjoyed your little devotional today.

"Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin." Hebrews 9:22
Words & Music: Robert Lowry, in Gospel Music, by William Doane and Robert Lowry (New York: Biglow & Main, 1876)
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Refrain
This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Now by this I'll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
Now by this I'll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

I'm a day late.......but as I read that Canada celebrated its National Day and saw the anthem that Pat had posted I found myself singing and singing it as if it were my own.
A belated HAPPY CANADA DAY to all of you who make her your home.
Me, what does the anthem mean to me, after all I'm not Canadian?
When the gentleman that I took care of for seven years was becoming more feeble bodied but still was with a fairly keen mind I accompanied him every week to his Kiwanis meeting and there in honor of all the Canadian fellow Kiwanis across the border the Canadian anthem was sung along with the American.
"My" gentleman was the lead singer. As I stood with him, holding his arm to support him, we both became the lead singers starting the song as all joined in, the song that I'm now so familiar with.
Thanks, it also brought back tender thoughts of the gentleman, his fellow Kiwanis and of that big land just north of us. Then........:-)
So, although I'm here in England now, I wish you all a
belated Happy Canada Day
and I know that I will always fondly be joining in when your anthem is raised.
God bless.
Margit
And more belated wishes...;D :) ;)
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY IAIN - HOPE YOU'LL FIND ALL THE WELL WISHES HERE
and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALMA
Many happy returns!!!
Margit and Chris too.
Rachelle, it's great to see you! You've really been missed.
I'm sorry though to read about Shawnee's hospital stay. PLEASE keep us posted on that.
Hope you changed your email in your Profile.
Awwwwwwww.... Margit, that's so touching. I'm going to delete the music soon as it's such a massive file but I thought it was about the best rendition on the net that I could find of our National Anthem.
Thanks again. That was so sweet.
This is an old hymn with very good words.

"The Lord God is a sun and shield." Psalm 84:11
Words: John Keble, 1820
Music: "Hursley," Katholisches Gesangbuch (Vienna: 1774); adapted from Metrical Psalter, 1855
Sun of my soul, Thou Savior dear,
It is not night if Thou be near;
O may no earthborn cloud arise
To hide Thee from Thy servant's eyes.
When the soft dews of kindly sleep
My wearied eyelids gently steep,
Be my last thought, how sweet to rest
Forever on my Savior's breast.
Abide with me from morn till eve,
For without Thee I cannot live;
Abide with me when night is nigh,
For without Thee I dare not die.
If some poor wandering child of Thine
Has spurned today the voice Divine,
Now, Lord, the gracious work begin;
Let him no more lie down in sin.
Watch by the sick, enrich the poor
With blessings from Thy boundless store;
Be every mourner's sleep tonight,
Like infants' slumbers, pure and right.
Come near and bless us when we wake,
Ere through the world our way we take,
Till in the ocean of Thy love
We lose ourselves in heaven above.

I too am moved by the Canadian anthem. It's really a hymn and not a mere anthem. God has placed us each in our nations. He's given us to that nation, and He's given that nation to us. We ought to treasure our nation because it is a gift. None should be more patriotic than Christians. We ought to pray for our country, call for its repentance, and seek the mercy of God upon it. May it be so in Canada and in the USA.
Hi everyone. It is about 5:30 pm Denver time and we will leave in about an hour to attend the 50th wedding anniversary party, which brought us to Denver.
We have had a nice day today as my cousin and his wife from Michigan and the cousin and his wife who live here (and are being honored tonight) got together here at the hotel for about an hours visit and then we all went out and had a great lunch and more conversation.
Then we came back to the hotel and the couple of Michigan and Pat and I played a rubber of bridge. Their son is coming in from California around 11 pm tonight and we plan to have breakfast with them in the morning before they head out to Casper, Wyoming to meet their daughter and family, who are coming from Billings, Montana.
Tomorrow, after breakfast, Pat and I will head out for a day trip for some sightseeing. We plan to do the same on Sunday and then on Monday we will get together at the Denver cousins home one last time. We talked today about trying to do an annual cousins get together as we enjoy being together and have a lot of fun.
I have not been able to make the wireless work today and have switched back to dialup at 26 K, but at least it gives me access to e-mail and the web. I have limited hours so am not going to try to address other posters.
Happy Birthday, Alma and Hayley good to see you back.
I will try to check in again tomorrow but if I don't no one should worry as it just will mean we are out and about doing the vacation thing! :D
The talk about our National Anthems reminded me of something I heard on TV today. I have always loved the haunting melody of "Taps" when I hear it played. I thought there were words to go with the music, and the story was about the fellows who wrote both the words and music. The words are as follows:
TAPS
Day is done
Gone the sun
From the hills
From the lakes
From the skies.
All is well
Safely rest
God is nigh.
Anywhere you look in our nations's capitol, you will see carved in granite and marble, quotes from the Bible. This is just another example of the fact that this country was founded on the truths and principles of God's Word.
Abby called me today and we had a good visit. We are going over in the morning to see them. Got to have our "Abby fix." ;) ;D
Hello y-all, I am busy and tired. After I came home I fed the horses some apple, watered my garden, put a small roast in the oven, and did a load of laundry. I still have toi vacumm my car and wash it. I will be back later. Maybe.
The following is a little long, but well worth your time to read!
THE PERIL OF PUBLIC PESSIMISM
"When a politician, or an activist, or a television
commentator tells us the land is actually a mess, that
things are getting worse, we perk up and listen, for a
distinct public pessimism is the mark of our era. Good
news we greet with skepticism. Bad news we believe at
once."
The above observation by Stephen Carter, shared in his
timely article "A Politics of Gratitude" (Christianity
Today), is cause for concern. Pessimism is the opposite
of faith. And faith is vital if we are to enjoy the
blessings of God.
Election campaigns often promote pessimism. In his best-
selling book, "Total Forgiveness," R.T. Kendall quotes a
former presidential campaign manager who said, "Candidates
with high negative ratings in the opinion polls --above
35 percent--lose." adding: "Negative ratings are far easier
to create than positive ones." Kendall concludes, in the
minds of too many politicians, "It is not enough to make
yourself look good; you must make your opponent look bad.
And unfortunately it works." He then pleads for graciousness,
in all areas of life.
"Graciousness," he explains, "is withholding certain facts
you know to be true, so as to leave your enemy's reputation
unscathed. Total forgiveness sometimes means overlooking
what you perceive to be the truth and not letting on about
anything you know that could damage another person."
How can we attain this kind of attitude?
Stephen Carter says we must stop whining and start counting
our blessings. Thankfulness builds faith and overcomes
pessimism. Faith is positive. Pessimism is negative. To
build faith, I quote the following Bible verses every
morning: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1); "If you
can believe, all things are possible to him who believes"
(Mark 9:23).
Pessimism drains churches of courage and needed energy to
fulfill their important roles in their communities and the
world. It robs families of expectation and adventure,
causing husbands and wives to focus on what's wrong in
their lives instead of the many opportunities confronting
them every day.
Pessimism is contagious. A businessman once told me how
damaging a few pessimistic comments could be to a committee
evaluating people for different levels of employment. He
said the first evaluation usually proved to be the most
important. If that one was negative there was little hope
for the person being considered.
Politicians, pastors and other public people should be
examples of optimistic faith, remembering that in cutting
down others to gain election or self promotion they may
poison the minds of those who trust them, creating
pessimistic attitudes among their followers who will then
expect little and attempt less.
Dr. V. Raymond Edman, former president and late chancellor
of Wheaton College, said: "Faith is dead to doubts, dumb
to discouragements, blind to impossibilities, knows nothing
but success. Faith makes the uplook good, the outlook bright,
the inlook favorable and the future glorious."
Let's stop whining and start shining. Faith wins and fear
loses...every time.

Oh, how true, how true!
Thanks Janet... What a good article that is.
Evenin', folks!
Well, last night I cut off early because a storm was on the way - and what a beautiful storm it turned out to be! Usually they come fast and are gone in about 10 minutes but last night it stayed right overhead for a good half hour. Almost constant flashing and booming - there were three times that we're sure struck someplace close by, although we haven't seen any evidence of it today.
Who needs man-made fireworks when God supplies the real thing for free? ;D
Any photos, Jeanne!?? ;o)
Of what... the lightning or the thunder? ;D (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fusers.adelphia.net%2F%7Epairajeans%2FLOL2.gif&hash=40848d301f35e0cc833dc571889e418b6d4a93b2)
Lightening!
HAHA, I'm not quick enough for that. Remember this is an old lady you're dealing with. ;D (and a picture-taker as opposed to a photographer! )
Aw, shucks, Pat! I wanted to see photos of the thunder!! ;) Lightning shots are mostly LUCK, I think, more than timing!
I've had a nice hot shower and shampooed my hair and feel all nice and clean. I had to get the smoke off of me, Gloria smokes. I really don't look forward to washing my hair every day.
I borrowed a wheelchair and took her out to the furniture store today to look at new mattresses and will be taking her to church on Sunday.
I still need to vacumm out my car I may get to that in the morning before Igo to work.
I think I shall call it a night now and read a few things here check the photos and check out SN and PS.
TTYL
Good evening, folks.
I won't be in much tomorrow. We have a big day with the community. Starts off with a big pancake feed that the firestation puts on every year that we have gone to for hmmm... at least 10 years or more. Than off to the park to play draw with chalk on the basketball courts for money. oh ya, can't forget the getting dretched by the fire trucks and mud volleyball (which I won't be playing). It will be a long busy day that I am sure the kids will enjoy.
Hope you all have a fun day too!
Lots of love.

Hello my friends. I am tired tonight, have had a busy day again. I did some ironing, some laundry, baked a loaf of bread (I make all of our bread), had to get a package mailed.....on and on it went! We went over to Texas to the nursing home right after lunch and sat awhile with hubby's sister again. She is so weak, she can't do anything but sleep most of the time. She is not able to talk to us, and sometimes she knows us and sometimes not. We were going to sit with her every day for most of this year, but awhile back I got to feeling the need to back off a little bit as my nerves were so on edge. We still go about 4 times a week.
We got some bad news this evening. Our daughter came to tell us of a phone call she had received from Arkansas. My sister-in-law had not been able to reach us to tell us this news, so she called Elaine. My great nephew, Bradley Poole, was in a traffic accident just after leaving work at Children's Hospital in Little Rock, and he was brought back to the hospital, but he died. He had just completed his first year at the University of Arkansas recently, and he was studying to become a doctor. This is my brother Wesley's first grandson. He was about 19 or 20 I think and was a very intelligent young man. I feel so badly for the parents and my brother and his wife. I pray they will be comforted by the Lord their Savior.
Well, I must go now. Everyone have a good evening and weekend.
Love, Janice
Enjoy your day, Soni. Hopefully, we'll all enjoy your photos! What a fun-sounding day it's going to be!
Janice, it's so good to see you but so sad to read your news. I'm very sorry about your great nephew, Bradley. We must just claim the words that the Lord's ways are perfect and right. We don't know the reasons why these things happen but in glary we'll meet again. Truly, I'm sorry.
Well, time to lock the door.
