What To Do When You Are Facing Old Age
Psalm 92:12-15 says...
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
Psalm 103:5 says...
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Morning Devotional...Or despisest thou the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Romans 2:4
Far too often we blame God for evil that is really the result of human sin.
And, to compound our error, we fail to recognize His consistent goodness. In fact, God's mercy and patience should cause us to turn to Him.
He sends sun and rain even on those who curse Him (Mt. 5:45), and we all have life and breath in Him (Acts 17:28).
Even more, He offers salvation freely to all who will believe on His Son. "For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon Thee" (Ps. 86:5).
--Warren HageyChrist has died upon the tree
that from sin you might be free;
Jesus died for you and me,
Oh, believe it!

Hi Pat, thank you for that devotional. Great truths. The weather is so beautiful. I have been spending a lot of time outside either planting stuff or sitting in the backyard.
Have a great day today and God bless
Love Ruthie
I seem to be late for one and early for the other. Enjoyed both devotionals. Thanks Pat.
Growing old is not for sissies. Have been getting a large taste of that lately and not finding it 'enjoyable'. So won't bore everyone with the details.
We are getting some badly needed rain today and it is a welcome sight. Had to go into the 'small' city and found walking in the rain refreshing after all our heat.
Etta Sue, I got a toy fishing pole with a mouse, for Squeek. She absolutely adores the thing. It will make my life a little easier early in the morning. Won't have to keep tossing her other mouse around to keep her happy. She rarely ever brought it back....not like a dog with it's ball!
A friend of Wendy's had their whole hot tub stolen from the yard. It was a good size one at that an certainly costly. Thieves have been coming over from the mainland with their trucks and stealing them to place in new homes. Also stealing expensive shrubs, etc. They were pretty bold and drained the pool again after she had just cleaned it that day. Hard to imagine. They stole a number of shrubs from one of the churches recently.
BUGS, Pat!!!!!
What is the best kind of computer bug?
Spiders...they make the best 'web' sites ;D
Pleasant dreams and God Bless.
Liz
Oh, Liz! That's priceless! Did you come up with that yourself? HAHAHAHA!
I'll be giggling when I go to the Bugs Challenge now for sure!
Good Morning. Thank you Pat for the devotional today, Old Age? Who is old? certainly no one on the web site. I keep wondering if I will ever be able to retire. I am working more now than I have in the last 9 years. I seem to feel healthier too just since moving here. I do know for sure that I am much happier here. I am 30 years old trapped in a 64 year old body. oh poor me. :-[ LOL
Today is my LONG day I won't get home until after 6 pm. Don't go to work until 11 am. but I will get some things done around here before I go.
TTYL
Goodmorning
Thanks for the devotional Pat.
Ria: You will be missed
It is a lovely day and like many others I to will be outside, probably just catching up on my reading
Janice: Such sad news, we often wonder why such things have to happen to folk so young.
Has anyone thought about Bugs Bunny
Ruth
Good Morning Everyone or Afternoon ..
I got woke up early this am lol-wasn't ready to get up-but, I got more work to do.
Anyway thought I would drop by and say Hello-Please continue to pray for Shawnee, I guess they had to take 6 tubes of spinal fluid and had to go deep into her spine to get it and she said they hit some nerves, she said they were going to freeze some of the fluid because she had other things going on, I am not sure what that all means..she also said they found a bulging disc in her back-but that has nothing to do whats going on. I haven't talked with her today yet, but when I do I will all let you know how she is.
Not much going on here today-Just alot of work..I keep running out of towels because the kids swim so much lol.
Ok-Im off..
Have a good day.

Hi everyone!!!
Well, the house is tore upside down. Why is it to really clean something up, you have to get it dirty first? Today has been clothes day. We got a new dryer given to us (Thank you, Lord), and it has truly been a blessing. I didn't think I would ever say that about a dryer, but . . . I can dry four loads of clothes in the time it was taking me to dry one. It took four hours or more to dry 5 loads of jeans one time. Now they dry in less than an hour. YEAHH. So, anyway. I went through my clothes and got rid of stuff that I haven't worn since before Travis was born. Figured I won't be wearing it for another year or so, and threw away some stuff that was not fit for humans to wear. 3 bags worth.
Then, I went to Travis's room and cleaned out his drawers and closet. Got two bags of 2T/24mos and smaller out of there. Maybe now I can figure out where to put stuff. A friend of mine gave me a huge box of 3T adn 4T stuff for him, and I gotta have somewhere to put it. :-)
Anyway. If you are still reading, sorry to bore you with the details. It is raining again. Any of ya'll need a little? I'll try to send it west to you if you do. :) I hope it clears up tomorrow night (we may go watch fireworks somewhere) and Monday (we are wanting ot take Travis to the lake for the day). We'll see.
Hope ya'll are having a wonderful day.
Rachelle, I'll try to get "by there."

I just heard a noise outside. Tony, my son, got a Harley last evening. He is testing it out on the side roads to get confidence. I am sure that Charlene and him will enjoy it at Gatlinburg and other trips. Tony assures me that he will be a safe driver...not daring. God, I hope so.
The symphony was great last evening. Hot, but great. You go early to get your plot of grass to put up your chairs, blanket, etc. We took a picnic to have. Then at 7:30 p.m. the concert starts...this week with patriotic music. Then it all ends with fireworks. A very enjoyable evening. You may check out the pictures I took at....My PhotoSite (http://egann.photosite.com/Symphony/)

Hi everyone... missed you all whilst been away for training and settling into my new career. Hope I have not missed anything.
I am hoping to resume the ministry in a couple of years time. With my youngest going into his senior years at school I cannot afford to move him just yet.
Pat, I really appreciate your comments, friendship and encouragement and I know there are others who feel exactly the same way I do; just for the record, you are all a blessing to me. I have taken tons of photos whilst away but need to sift through them
Ria, hoop alles gaan goed vir jou.
Welcome Emanuel,
It is so nice to meet you!!! This is a wonderful site!!!!
Shall we sing? I've been ironing and this hymn kept on going through my mind so thought I might as well come and look at the words and sing it properly and then I thought, "Well, I might as well share it with all on CP!"
So, here goes!
Let's hear you all sing it!

(Click to hear music)
Be filled with the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18
Words: Elwood H. Stokes, 1879.
Music: John R. Sweney, 1879
Hover o'er me, Holy Spirit,
Bathe my trembling heart and brow;
Fill me with Thy hallowed presence,
Come, O come and fill me now.
Refrain
Fill me now, fill me now,
Jesus, come and fill me now;
Fill me with Thy hallowed presence,
Come, O come, and fill me now.
Thou canst fill me, gracious Spirit,
Though I cannot tell Thee how;
But I need Thee, greatly need Thee,
Come, O come and fill me now.
Refrain
I am weakness, full of weakness,
At Thy sacred feet I bow;
Blest, divine, eternal Spirit,
Fill with power and fill me now.
Refrain
Cleanse and comfort, bless and save me,
Bathe, O bathe my heart and brow;
Thou art comforting and saving,
Thou at sweetly filling now.

Wow. Finally caught up on all of my reading.
Karma/Nards/Travis~Belated Congratulations
Pat~Thank you especially for the music to the Lord's Prayer that you had posted days back.
Ria~I will miss your posts while you are finishing up your house. I had read that you had lost a fair bit of weight. Congratulations! It is not easy to do. I hope that you are hearing the verbal confirmation from friends and family that it is noticed. That always helps to keep one on track.
Pat~I'm sure the the newsletter you sent out was bounced back to you. My inbox was full when I came home from vacation.
Nards~Snake~a very big YUCK! I can't even look at a picture of one without shivering. Might perhaps go back to a childhood incident when a cousin stopped me from sitting on a water snake sunning itself on a seat in a rowboat. To this day I am terrified of the creatures!
Pat~Car troubles are not fun! I spent a portion of my Canada Day (July 1) going back to where we had spent our vacation to retrieve my now repaired van. $2500 for a rebuilt transmission.
And now to go back outside and enjoy the beautiful day we have been given.
Janice, I will be praying for the family of your nephew and for you also.
Beautiful day today in Canada. I think it is around 80 F out. My big cat named Jolson has a lot of blood on him. Looks like he has been in a fight. I'm not sure if he got hurt but he doesn't want me to touch him. Yesterday my other cat Rusty had a baby rabbit in his mouth. I managed to free it and it ran away. So glad. But a blue jay was not that lucky. There was a lot of squawking outside and one was down. I put the wounded blue jay in a box, but he died later. Cats and birds and other smaller animals don't mix.
Ruthie
Have you all been to see the lovely photos in this challenge???

Well, Cornelia and I had a lovely trip for our 55th anniversary. We visited Rugby, Tennessee village and spent two nights in a bed and breakfast. The weather was great though we had a little rain it made for a perfect visit to the mountains.
I have read through most of the posts since we have been gone. I hope you are all doing well. Welcome to the new comers.

--- Old Papa John

Well, this has been another one of those daze! ::) I am so grateful to my Father for moving me into this place directly across the road from a very handy handy man! There was a small (I thought) problem with the pluming in the master bathroom. I talked to Bob about it and he said he'd come right over and see about it. That was about 11 a.m. It was nearly 3 p.m. when he finished and presented the bill for $35.
In the process he noticed a "soft spot" in the bathroom floor. :-\ Soon, I suppose, I will have to have that repaired too. I commented that I just can't afford to rebuild this place! It seems whenever a problem presents itself and a repair person tackles it they find extended "hidden" problems. :-\
Last night there was a fire in a neighbor's place. Started as a chimney fire and progressed to the electrical wiring. Reminded me that I have been planning to have my chimney cleaned before this fall when I will be using the wood stove again. I had thought August. That still seems like a good idea. I need to have the oil changed in my car before that ... that can be this month, hopefully. If it isn't one thing it is another but my Father keeps me on track and is ever mindful of my needs. I am so grateful, cuz I sure don't have the knowledge nor expertise to do these things on my own. ::)
Pat, that bugs and insects dance is funny. Well it turns out that Jolson didn't have blood on him but some kind of red paint. I don't know where he got it from but someone has some cat hair in their fresh paint!
Oh well.
Ruthie
Home now from work, tired but not as tired as yeaterday. I am going to read awhile on here then go to Photo Sense and check that out, I got a cute pjoto for the Colours challenge but have to download my camera.
Hi Ruthie... That's awful--poor cat having red paint on it? That will be something getting that off.
Hope you went to both of the challenges.
Jane - I'm sure you already know it, but $35 for that much time is an incredible bargain! Normally it would be two to five times that - per hour! Thank that man! Keep that man! I just paid $177.50 for less than an hour's work on our septic drain system. I may be reimbursed, but imagine making that much every hour!
Hi Everyone-
I am calling all prayer warriors to pray!!! I know I am suppose to post this into another area of CP but, this needs everyones attention right away!!!
Please pray for Shawnee my best friend-she went into the hosptial yesterday morning for a spinal tap-well, they ended up hitting the nerves in her spinal cord 6 x's-removing the needle and hitting again..finally she couldn't take it and was sick to her stomach-later that day she started having a spinal headache when she had to get up to go to the bathroom..going all night without anything to relieve the headache the dr. that was on call would not do anything because he said "He didn't know her case" today he finally ordered morphine, he ordered 300 mg a minute because he wanted to get it into her system he said quickly..well, thank goodness a friend was there to get them on the ball-she then had her veins blow out in her arm..all she wants to do is go home and be with her kids, but now said she probably won't get to go home until tuesday..
Please pray that she gets some gets better care-as the dr. that is treating her-really hasnt been that kind.
Thank You for praying!!!
Rachelle
Father, I pray for Shawnee. I pray You'll deliver her from incompetent doctors, and that You'll send s good and conscientious doctor her way who will get involved and give her the right care. In Your mercy, Father, I pray You'll do this through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rachelle, I will pray for Shawnee. What a terrible ordeal for her. Poor dear. I pray like Al that God will bring a caring and competent doctor to rectify the situation.
I was walking around the block in my neighbourhood to find out where all the noise is coming from. Looks like a backyard party with music and people talking etc. It's only 10:45 p.m. Hope they wrap this party up before midnight!
Ruthie
Ruthie: Sounds like YOUR neighbourhood is like mine tonight....an extension of Canada Day celebrations.....LOL
We are hoping our neighbours close down" the party by midnight....(am I getting old, or what...lol)
Shawnee: If you happen to hear from Rachelle that your C.P. family is praying for you, please believe it...you are dearly loved, and we are all so concerned about this doctor situation. I do pray that a competant physician will take over your care, and that proper diagnosis will be made, and appropriate treatment will take place.
Hi, friends,
This has been a very long day and I'm feeling it right about now.
But, I'm in a quiet place, the rain is softly falling and making the air smell SO sweet, my friend who had the amputation of her leg is doing well, and I just spoke with my brother who arrived a few hours ago from a missions trip in Peru.
So, all around, it's been a good day and I'm here to thank the Lord for His tender mercies to us all.
Ruth Ann
Janice: I have been remiss in not commenting on your situation. Please forgive me., I am so sorry to hear the news of Bradley's terrible accident.
My sincerest sympathy to you, your brother and all Bradley's family. This is so sad!
Lovingly,
Judy M.
Janice, it is so good to see you again, but I am so sorry about your great nephew. It is so tragic to lose someone so young and with so much promise. My prayers are with you and your family during this sad time.
Jane, I thank God with you for the kindness of your helpful neighbor. Now we all need to pray about Pat's car situation. One just must have transportation, especially when you are alone!
Rachelle, my prayers are for Shawnee, too.
We have been away all day, and after a sleepless night, I am wiped out! See y'all tomorrow!
RACHELLE~I echo the prayers of these others for Shawnee. I am so sorry she is having to go through this ordeal. God is with her and will keep her. I know He will see she gets proper, attentive, compassionate care immediately if not sooner!

AL and JANET, I have been blessed abundantly with God's provisions ever since He moved me here. In fact, Bob is the one who was "filling in" for the manager when Nita and I first came here to look for a place. He directed me to this place and it wasn't even listed for sale yet! There have been several occasions when I have had to put out an SOS to him--usually at night and in the rain--and he has come right over and spent much time and labor to help. He is retired so only charges for the parts and not much for his labor ... You can be sure I thank him and plan to keep him! ;)
Nita commented once: "Are you sure he isn't an angel?" hmmm could be! ;)
Good Night Everyone
