JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

What's His Kingdom Like?

Morning Devotional...

Matt. 6:10.  "Your kingdom come.  Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

You're in a city that's new to you.  It's a very large, populous city, a city full of large but beautiful buildings.  You notice immediately, though, that it isn't all streets and buildings.  There's greenery everywhere and a beautiful park about every two blocks.  It's a really nice city!

But right away you come into contact with some of the locals.  You notice right away that every elderly person has someone right at hand to help them across the street or assist them by carrying some of their burdens.  You quickly discover that no one is left alone unless they want to be and that there's an obvious air of caring - every one about others - and everyone seems to be happy about the good things that happen to others.  Even when you've been there a whole day, yet you still haven't heard a harsh word.  And all the people make it obvious that they want to be helpful to the other cities of the land as well.

There's really beautiful music coming from the nearest park, and  as you pass it you notice some people creating beautiful paintings and mosaics and others sculpting really good likenesses of animals and people.

In a specially large and beautiful park near the center ot the city there's a fairly large and constantly changing crowd gathered around a truly wonderful looking man, a man who seems to be able to lovingly advise and help whenever there's a question.  He seems to be completely interested in and thoroughly knowledgeable about each one's life and interests.

The city you're in is obviously Heaven.  There's no place like it here on earth.  That wonderful Man we noticed is the King of the place, and everything we saw and heard was part of His kingdom.

Think you'd like a place like that?  Think you'd like to see this world changed to be like that?  Your Lord would like to hear you say so.  He'd like to hear you say, "Even so, come, Lord jesus!"  He'd like to hear you say, "Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven!"  Why don't you tell Him right now?  Why not tell Him you want to be like those people?

I can only imagine what it will be like,
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see,
When Your Face is before me!
I can only imagine.  I can only imagine.

Refrain
Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus?  Or in awe of You, be still?
Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Hallelujah?  Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine!  I can only imagine!

I can only imagine, when that day comes,
When I find myself standing in the Son.
I can only imagine, when all I will do,
Is forever, forever worship You!
I can only imagine!  I can only imagine!

Thank you, Al, that was a wonderful picture of the kingdom! And yes, I do so want to go there.

It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood, but I've got to go in to the warehouse and work today.  >:( WORK is a four letter word :)

I just want to thank God for his provisions, isn't He wonderful?  He takes care of us even when we know we are not deserving. Praise the Lord!

Hope everyone has a great day in the Lord, and Marilyn, I hope you are still feeling better.

Yes, work seems to come regularly to intrude on our times off!  But - Samantha - remember that when you go there, you're still not leaving God's presence.  He's there.  He's always right at your right hand, that you might not every be outside His loving protection and blessing.  Amen?

Thanks for a reminder of what awaits.  My favorite parables of Jesus are the ones that begin "The kingdom of heaven is like...."
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Hi everyone.  Just back from morning coffee at the cafe.  I would really miss that if I were not able to go and spend an hour or so with friends.  They have been a blessing in my life.

It is going to be very hot around here today, perhaps up to 100 degrees.  However, we had that lovely rain a couple of days ago so everything is nice and green again and my yard looks the best it has all season.  It is really growing and it will be another week before the lawn people will be back.  Of course, with the very hot weather it will probably not grow much more.

Al, I am sure it was a pleasant surprise to see your pastor arrive at the church.  I am sure he was pleased to be able to be the "hearer of the Word" as you proclaimed it yesterday.  By the way, I love your sense of humor but do hope that coffee you use for other purposes didn't just come off the heat.  :)

Samantha, you are so right about the Lord providing for our needs.  What type of warehouse do you work in?

Liz, I liked your cake story.  I would like to know what happened after the lady made that comment that she had baked the cake.  :)

Ruth, sometimes we push ourselves too hard.  It is easy to overdo even when we know we shouldn't.

Etta Sue, hope your glucose testing goes well and that you like the results.  You didn't say anything about your back hurting based on your church attendence since you were not standing.  I am sure you appreciated being able to sit and listen and participate in the service from the pew.

Hi Sue and Marilyn.

Carol, Pat did get to feeling better by evening.  She recently got a parafin bath in which to put her hands when they are aching that she used that yesterday and it really helped.  In about 16 days she has an appointment with the specialist.

Samantha

 :) I lost my post!!!

Al, you are so right, without God there would be no warehouse to go to work at. I just wanted to go swimming today instead.  But that will wait until later.

Larry, my husband and I have a salvage grocery (and other stuff) warehouse.  We have about 50 bent & dent stores that buy from us.  We had ordered a load of salvage sporting goods to be delivered today, but the driver called yesterday and had arrived early, so we unloaded him after church.  Now I have to go sort that stuff out and put together what needs to put together. Its fun, but hard work in the weather we are having.  It sure was hot in the back of that trailer yesterday. I've got a good friend who homeschools her children also, and she comes and helps me to earn book money and such. And the kids play together so they are occupied while we work. So God takes care of all us with the warehouse. (Terry is busy with the grocery end of it. In between feeling bad.  Good thing a lot of his is phone sales)  That was probably more than you wanted to know! :)

Gotta go now, before it get too hot!

Wow Al what a great picture you have painted of heaven.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

I often wonder what heaven will be like.  I used to think it might be boring.  Do you take the sorrow, ill health and death as the norm for our earthly lives?  I must have or I certainly wouldn't think heaven as boring.  I think it will be wonderful to see everyone who have passed on as healthy ones.  The handicap as healthy.  And most of all to see our Lords of Lords face to face.  'I Can Only Imagine'!  By the way, that is one of my favorite songs.

Larry ~ I didn't stand long enough yesterday for my back to start hurting.  It's always is stiff when I first get out of bed but by the time I am dressed and have the furkids taken care of, I am fine.  I can walk, sit, but it is the standing and bending and twisting that starts it to hurting.  But I am relieved that someone else will be doing the duping.  And yes, it was wonderful to sit to the end of the services and then get up and go to my car.  I talked to more people yesterday than I have for a very long time...I had time to talk and I could go to them.

Babycakes ~ Welcome to the Lost Post world.  We have all done it at some time or other.  Frustrating, isn't it?

Marilyn ~ I haven't had Lima Beans for a long time.  Too hot for them right now in Indiana.

Ohenry ~ It think it would be very hard for me to chose a favorite parable.  I take the Bible so literal that I have a hard time getting what Jesus was meaning behind the story.  Like today in my Bible reading.  The Bridegroom and the Ten Bridemaids.  Duh!  I didn't realize that he was talking about himself as the Bridegroom and the 10 bridemaids as his brothers and sisters....some of whom are ready when Christ comes and some who are not ready when Christ comes.  The meaning....always be prepared for we know not when Christ will come.

I had my blood draw for glucose and then ate breakfast at Perkins.  The nurse did a great job....got that tiny needle in my tiny vein and drew that blood right out.  No problem!

I got a call from Nancy saying that we don't go to Grand Rapids until August 17.  Seems they are trying to do Bio-feedback only half a day and there are so many patients.  Seems like they are doing it for themselves and not for the patients!  And that doesn't seem right.

Now to decide if I want to mow today or tomorrow.  This evening is a seminar to hear a photographer from Bloomington, IN and tomorrow evening is Beef and Boards Dinner Theater (Steel Magnolias) so either day, I will have to mow in the hottest part of the day.  I wish we didn't have so much dew and I could mow in the mornings but you can't do that in Indiana.

Ruth

Al:  Thanks for the devotional  great thoughts of heaven.

Marilyn:  Praise the Lord you are feeling well again. I should try cooking  Lima Beans in turkey broth sounds good.

Babycakes: With so many folk without a job we all need to thanks the Lord for providing even though it could be something that we really do not like. Jesus is with us at all times.

Etta Sue - Larry & the rest:  Hello

I have just finished my scrubbies with no leftover yarn which is good, I will not be tempted to make more.  As I must still take is easy I lknow that my next project will be a paper tole picture that will be given as a Christmas Gift I was to have had it done for 2005 but it did not happen.

Mel and a friend have shared ownership in a utility trailor which I might add needs a lot of little repairs one of which is tires a friend of our son has sold him a set of 5 almost new tires for $100.00 plus a little extra to put them on the rims.

Just got a phone call and we will be having company in about 5 minutes.

It seems that we are all talking about the weather and yes it is hot and getting hotter here as well.

candiceloves

i feel like i haven't been on here in forever, but maybe just since saturday.

so, it's hot. and, being not a fan of summer, well, i want it to go away. i'm supposed to be going to a waterpark tomorrow, but i just called my youth pastor a couple hours telling him i don't think i'm going to go considering it's supposed to be in the 100's. the heat's one thing, the fact that i burn no matter how much sun screen i put on is another, and the lines for the slides will be insanely long, so i have a pool, but my parents' room is air conditioned, so i'll probably just go in there and do school work for most of the day..what a bah humbug, i know.

tonight just might be our last cleaning night, which would be really exciting. one of my friends mom actually took the job which is really cool and i'm sure she will be blessed doing it. yesterday i took my first drive by myself and with friends, which was a big deal considering the hate i have for driving, but i did it haha. and so friday i might visit a youth group that i haven't been to in a long time. of course going to my own youth group on wednesday too. i really dislike being a busy teenager, but if i'm not busy i don't know what to do with myself. but on saturday i leave again for a couple days to pittsburgh. hopefully i'll be on here before then haha.

hope everyone is staying out of the heat  :)
blessings,
candice.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

Been in two meetings today and then to cool off, I went and sat at the mall.  My house must have been about 100 degrees F.  It's still hot.

Kathleen just arrived home from her first day at work.  She's very tired.  So I think we'll both have an early night.

I just have to say though, too, Al that that was a wonderful devotional.  Thank you so much for your faithfulness on CP.
