Morning Devotional...

But God, who is rich in mercy...hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Eph. 2:4, 6

A converted opera singer, Bill Carle, gave up his entertainment friends because they did not like his newfound lifestyle.

On a night of an evangelistic crusade, he gave his testimony. He said, "Some people ask me, Don't you miss hobnobbing with the stars of the stage?"

In answer he lifted his Bible skyward. "I am associating with the stars...the stars I used to know will go to a Christless grave. But I have many new stars to take their place."

Believers are new creations in Christ and now have the privilege to dwell in heavenly places, which far exceeds the stardom of earth.
                                                                        --E. Dyck

We shall shine as the stars of the morning
with Jesus the crucified One.
We shall rise to be like Him forever,
eternally shine as the sun.

Folks, I am going to say my hello tonight, before my computer freezes up!
After that, I will go and read what you all have been up to today.

As for me, it has been one busy day, they all seem to be busy.  Hey, I thought when you get older it gets easier!!!   no way.

I ran errands not only for us, but for Earl's sister in the nursing home too.  I do shopping for her, and also I do her laundry/ironing.  She is a dear and I am glad to be of help.  Some days though, I can't do it all.  She will be 94 in October if the Lord gives her that much more time, and it looks like she may make 100.  She is in great health for her age.

His brother is coming tomorrow from central Texas for a couple of days.  And some of the kids will be coming in over the weekend for Father's Day.  It is always good to have the kids come see us.

Well, time for me to post this and go to the forums now.
Hope you all have a really good Thursday!
Love in Jesus,   Janice

Pat, thanks your devotional reminded me of a text I put on the 'Dawn' photograph for a friend yesterday. 'Until the day dawn and the day star arise in your heart..' Can you imagine a star bright enough to be seen in the day time, even brighter than the sun?

The first thing that I read when I was invited to join this wonderful group was to read Jack's devotional on 'Angels.'  A fine article indeed.

My Christian upbringing and eachin, I am sure is very similar to what Jack's would have been. With that in mind there are 'things' not really preached upon in our congregations. One is 'Angels' and the other is 'Physical Healing.'

Now please do not allow satan the opportunity to build wedges between us here. I am simply trying to help you to understand how difficult it is for me to tell the following story.

'The Lord before whom I walk will send His angel with thee and prosper thy way'

Genesis Chapter 24 Verse 40

We had been travelling across Europe for four days and nights. We had only had one nights sleep and we were absolutely exhausted. We had reached the town of Iasi on the East coast of Romania at ten o'clock at night. I had been in Iasi once before but I was lost this time in the centre of the city!

I had driven around in circles for the best part of an hour before pulling into an alleyway at the end of my tether. The three of us cried out to the Lord for help, in silent anguish.

Out of the darkness came this young man wearing a black leather jacket and jeans. I rolled down the window and asked if he could direct us to this certain hotel that we had been searching for. He spoke no English, however he must have understood the name of the hotel.

He squeezed into the passenger seat beside my other two mates and started giving me directions. I knew the Romanian for left, right and straight ahead. We travelled for miles following his monosyllable directions. We began to wonder if we were being hijacked! My mates were terrified that he was going to stab them. (Not uncommon in Eastern Europe at that time!)

Stop! He hit the dashboard hard.

We parked the van in a car park and there facing us across the busy street was the hotel we had been searching for. We all got out of the van and I went to pay the man and thank him for his kindness, but he had disappeared!

Romanian streets are long, broad and very straight yet he had vanished. We were absolutely stunned! He had disappeared into thin air! We had taken him miles away from where we had started and now he was nowhere to be seen.

Surely in our extremities, God had provided an angel to prosper us on our way. The days of miracles are not over. The three of us will never forget the angel in the black leather jacket.

I was going to post this yesterday as it would have been very approprioate following Pat's post, however for some reason it has been left until today.

Many have mocked my friends and I as we have relayed this story. We now pass this blessing on to few. Those who mock have missed out on the woinders of God's love. Perhaps an angel will meet with you today. I hope so.

LOL

Your brother in Christ

Iain

Well well good morning to you all today!
This is the day the Lord hath made...let us rejoice and be glad!
Do we very often rejoice in the day? I know that there are times when I get up in the morning and just want to go back to bed.....not because there is any real reason...just because I am lazy and have not trained my mind to arise with thanksgiving in my heart for the very breath God has given me to open my eyes and see the glory of a brand new day. So today....I am giving thanks for this brand new day and for the grace that He has given me to see the beauty of His hand.
May you all see this and have a wonderful day of awe....
Paulette.

Hi everyone.  Thanks to you all for the continued prayers.  I did sleep very well last night and am ready to begin the treatments today.

Iain, what an experience you and your friends had and certainly something you could never forget.  I wonder how often we may experience an angel without ever realizing it.

Pat, hope you have a great day with your computer class and then enjoy your gardening.  A friend told me he had picked a couple of his cherry tomatoes, the first produce from the garden I have heard of this year.

Janice, you are one busy lady.  Hope you are able to find a few minutes for resting.  It is wonderful that you look after your 94 year old aunt.

Paulette, somedays it is hard to start the day.  I am one who wakes up wide-awake and ready to go but my wife is a night person and it takes her awhile to wake up in the mornings.

Good morning Jane.

Al, I have been reading your writings on Psalms as I have been reading the Psalms in my daily Bible reading.  Today I read Psalms 55, 56 and 57.  I really appreciate your sharing your work with us.

Papa John, I liked your costume for Bible School and would think you created some images that those children will probably never forget.

Judy, I will be thinking about you today and your treatment.  That does sound very tiring.

Good morning,

Unfortunately I'm dealing with a fever and headache, so will be home instead of working.

That's not what I had planned for the day. Today would have been my 44th wedding anniversary, and I always do better when I'm active on that particular day each year.

Ruth Ann:  Sending you a <<<<<HUG>>>>> today.  Take care.

Janet:  I made an angel food cake yesterday for someone's early birthday.  Your cake story was very good.

Ursula:  It is so simple - He died for all of us - even the most hateful people who walk the earth and it is easy to forget about them.  Thank you for the reminder.

Iain:  What a story about guidance when you most needed it!

We are having a great time with two of the grands.  Don played the game Battleship with one and today they each get to help in the workshop making their own pen.  I slept like a log last night and feel groggy this morning.

Larry:  Thinking of you today.

Etta Sue:  We made a 3 week train trip to Europe last year for our 40th. and I got to go to Sweden to meet with many relatives and see one grandmother's farm home.  It was overwhelming for me and I give thanks for being able to see the place as she was never able to make it back to her home.  Now we correspond by e-mail.

Good Morning to you all. Iain thank you for yourtestimony on the angel in the black leather jacket.

I can give you personal testimony on physical healing. Once I found a lump in my breast, went to the doctor and after a manual exam he too found the same lump. He ordered a mamogram but couldn't see anything, too dense. So he ordered an ultrasound. Before that appointment I went to my church I was annointed with oil and prayed for. I went for the ultrasound, and at my next doctor appt., he also did another manual exam and Praise the Lord the lump was gone. I sat up on the table and said "PRAISE THE LORD", He also praised the lord and said that was the only answer he could give me as to what happened to the lump. He was a Christian Doctor. My church preaches on physical healing. I know that some do not, though. Different denominations. What more can I say.

{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}} To Ruth Ann.

I'll be back later.

Good Morning everyone!  I am so thankful that lately I have been having the bestest night's rests!!!!  I wake up so rested and raring to go for the new day!  Of course, I start my day by going to the Word.  Then I am refueled by God.

Jerry is here and we are going out to lunch and then to Lowe's....looking for a saw for him, I guess.  It has been rainy and I should mow today but will probably have to mow tomorrow.

Gotta go!  It is getting hungry here!

Good morning everyone, just popping in to say "hi" while little man takes a nap!

Iain,
I can appreciate your angel story.  A good friend of mine has one similar.  He was at the beach, and a little boy got caught in a rip tide and was in danger of drowning.  Matt looked up and down the beach, and realized that he was it.  So he dove in after him.  The current was so strong, that Matt soon was in danger as well.  Suddenly, he noticed this big strong man (Matt was also a man, but is a skinny little thing) there to help the both of them out.  When they got to shore, Matt turned to thank him, but he was gone.  No one else but Matt had seen him, even the little boy.

Like you, Matt sometimes gets ridiculed, but it excites me to know that if it is not my time to go, and I am in a dangerous situation, God has given his angels commands to be with me.  WooHoo

I meant to commetn on the physical healing thing as well.  I do believe that God can heal anyone, anytime.  I've also learned that healing may not be earthly, and that sometimes all he wants us to do is love him and believe he could heal.  I think I ahve told before how I was convinced my dad would come out of a coma and be "normal" again.  The day he died, I just kinda looked up at God and said, "But, I thought you said . .."  Then, it was like that still, small voice said, "Did you think I could?"
I answered, "Yes."  He said, "THAT is what I wanted from you."
God is good . . .

We had a good service at the nursing home this morning.

Tonight we are having a family birthday dinner at our daughter Rachel's house for our number two daughter, Martha.  Martha is 50 years old today.  Seems like only yesterday that Martha was born when we were living and working in Starkville, Mississippi.

I have always like the study of angels.  There are some questions which may be unanswered but there is no doubt they exist and we may not always recognize them when we see them.

Heb 13:2  Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.  (NIV)

Papa John: Dale Evans wrote a book called "Angels Unawares", I haven't read it  but both she and Roy Rogers were Christians.

I have heard many testimonies of Angel Encounters. No other explaination could be found. When People just dissappear into thin air. What else could it be?

30 more days and I am outta here!!!! My new Landlord called me here at work toady to tell me he had received my Cashiers check I sent to him. He is a very nice man according to Gilbert. He was very cooperative whenI asked if my rent could be due on the 15th instead of the 1st, as my SS check arrives on the 2nd Wed. of the month. He said no problem. Praise the Lord another answered prayer.

Angels seem to be the topic for today and it seems that our Father sent them to His people in the Bible...so, therefore, He can still send them to us now.  Like most of you I have read of too many experiences to doubt their existence.  Not too long ago I read of a missionary and his family that were in the middle of a terrorist situation and his house & family were spared because of "giant guards" protecting the house. (He wondered why the terrorists would not attack when they were within just yards from his home)  It was told to him later by one of the terrorists.  I believe it even made a believer out of him.

:)We share celebrations with you, Papa John as our oldest son is 45 today and our oldest grandchild is 19.  My how the time does fly when you're having so much fun!  :)

Marilyn, thanks for your testimony. I believe in physiical healing, too.

Hi everyone.  I had my first treatment this afternoon and it went well.  I actually felt better after the treatment than when I started in terms of not being so tired.  The trip to downtown Atlanta went well and the traffic wasn't too bad today as it was around noon.  It was very encouraging to talk with the nurse/tech about the results they have gotten from these treatments.

It is thundering here and believe we are going to have a late afternoon shower.  Hope everyone has a great evening.

Hello Everyone!

What a rainy day we're having here in Guelph!  I went to the Senior Centre this morning and came out and it was bucketing down.  I had left my living room window open and then rain sure found it's way inside too...but it was easily wiped up.

Thanks for the good discussion in here today.  Yes, we certainly do entertain angels unawares at times.

I just got this in my email.  I've heard it before but it's always good to read again...

Daddy's Chair

A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father. When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside his bed.

The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit. "I guess you were expecting me", he said.

"No, who are you?", said the father.

"I'm the new minister at your church", he replied. "When I saw the empty chair, I just figured you knew I was going to show up".

"Oh yeah, the chair", said the bedridden man. "Would you mind closing the door?"
Puzzled, the minister shut the door.

"I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter", said the man. "But all my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head."

"I abandoned any attempt at prayer," the old man continued, "until one day about four years ago my best friend said to me, "Joe, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here is what I suggest. Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith SEE Jesus on the chair. It's not spooky because he promised, "I'll be with you
always". Then just speak to him and listen in the same way you're doing with me right now.'

"So I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours everyday. I'm careful though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, She'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm."

The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old guy to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and returned to the church.

Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon. "Did he die in peace?" he asked.

She answered, "Yes, when I left the house about two o'clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead. But there was something strange about his death.

Apparently, just before daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed. What do you make of that?"

The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said," I wish we all could go like that."

We live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

Larry - I'm really glad everything went well with you today. You were very much on my mind and in my prayers. The wonder of Christian love for the brethren!
It reminds me of a spiritual song I used to sing when leaving my brothers and sisters in Romania.

'I would like you to know, you are never forgotten
That down in my heart, there's a place all your own
That the passage of time, in no way affects it.
It's yours, only yours and remains your alone.

I would like you to know you are oft times remembered
When at the dear place interceding I bend,
Not all that you need am I able to mention,
But doesn't God know all the needs of my friends?'

I've got my stall at the Craft Market tomorrow and Saturday, so you'll get a little peace for the next few days. My thoughts and prayers will be with you though. The song above is not just for Larry but for you all.

LOL

Oh, Iain!  Please try to make an appearance before you leave.  I don't want any of that kind of "peace" due to the fact that you aren't posting!  I so enjoy your messages.

Many of us just look so forward to your gems of wisdom as we all rise in the morning here across the big pond of water that is separating us from you.

What a lovely hymn.  I wonder what tune you sang that to?  Maybe we could add it to our little collection of hymns.  I love it!

Great to see you posting Larry.   I never heard of this treatment that you are getting up here when Jack was ill.  Maybe it's new?  I certainly pray that it will be a help to you.  Larry, we love you so much and please remember that there's a little band of folks praying for you daily.

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Do you know it? It's not very spiritual but it's a lovely tune. Get singin' lassies...

Pat - What a super post., about the empty chair.  Could you forward it to me via e-mail?  I'd love to send it on to my friend.

Brrr, its quite cool here, and very damp.

When ever I have had serious ills, I relied and totally believed God would heal me and I went about my business as usual and I talked about it when ever anyone would listen and gave God the glory for my healing and I was healed. I will remember you in my prayers.

I am just home from a great choir practice.  Sunday worship service is going to be fabulous. I live singing for the Lord. Praising and worhiping Him is what I live for. Many times in my prayers I just worship Him for His goodness and His grace.

Yes Jerry God is the HEALER. I believe that with all my heart and all my inner being.
