How To Overcome Despair

2 Corinthians 4:8-9, 16-18 says...

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

[/list]

Hebrews 13:5-6 says...

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Morning Devotional...

All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
1 Corinthians 6:12

A garage which specialized in brake repair had an advertising slogan, "If you can't stop, don't start."

This is a good principle for all to follow. The devil ensnares many in sin because at the very beginning they were undiscerning of circumstances or of their own weaknesses.

If we don't have peace about participation in a certain activity (Rom. 14:23) or think that it might pull us away from the Lord (1 Cor. 10:23, 31), let us not start it.

It is much easier to never start than it is to stop!
--Warren Henderson

Only one life to offer.
Take it, dear Lord, I pray;
Nothing from Thee withholding,
Thy will I now obey.
A. C.

LUKE 6 : 28
Bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you.

Outsite the example and the outcome of Jesus,
this command makes no sense at all.
But, Jesus shows us the importance of leaving
our destiny in the hands of our Creator and Father.
Suddenly, this makes perfect sense.
What is the best way to defeat an enemy?
Certainly it's not to beat or kill that person.
No, the way we defeat our enemies is by
having Jesus grace capture their hearts
and having their character conform to that
of our King!

Prayer...
Loving and gracious God,
please soften my heart
and toughen my resolve so that
i can love as Jesus loved me.
Make my life redemptive, even to
those who oppose, abhor,
ridicule, and hate me.
Use me, dear Father,
to bring others to the grace of Jesus.
In His name i pray.  AMEN.

                                           PHIL Ware.

Bye love RIA

Good morning everyone.  I got up a little after 5 am as we are sleeping in an unfamilar bed.  Of course, it is really 6 am by our time at home and what my body is adjusted to and I usually get up by 6 am.

We are suppose to have a sunny and very nice day for our time on the pontoon boat.  We are going to have a picnic lunch on the boat.

My wife's sister, where we are staying, has a parakeet and she is really a lot of company for her.  I am getting a few laughs  in observing the interaction between the two.

Ria, don't overwork this week.  Glad you had a nice day on Saturday.

Good to see Chris posting for England as well as everyone else.

Good Morning Everyone...

Nice to see you up bright and early, Larry!  These birds can be a lot of fun.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILDFLOWERJOY!

Hope you have a wonderful day!  This week on Photo-Sense, the SPOTLIGHT is on Wildflowerjoy so people can ask her questions on her photography!  So if you feel so inclined, take a look!  Her photography is wonderful and I hope that we see lots more of it here on CP.

Thanks Ria...  Hope you have a wonderful week over there in Holland.  The painting should be done soon and then we'll have to see photos of your work.   :)

Well, I'm off to the elections and won't be home till really late tonight.

I hope that you all have a great day and a good birthday party for Wildflowerjoy here in New Every Morning!

Thanks for the birthday good wishes.  My sister's birthday was yesterday so I cooked for my family and hers and two of my brothers and their families and my mom.  It was a big crowd at our house this weekend.  (Good thing the whole family did not come because there would not have been room! I have 9 brothers and sisters. Yes, a family of ten children.
I have a sad visit to make today.  The mom of some of my students died Friday and I will attend the visitation tonight.  Her girls are 14 and 10.  Please pray for them if you think about it.  Lisa and Jessica mom found out she had cancer when Lisa was in first grade.
Thanks again for the birthday wishes and the lovely photo!  Mary

Welcme Wildflower Joy!  Sorry to hear about your sad time visititation today.

Larry:  You are not seeing the real Colorado weather - it is very unusual for us to see day after day of clouds and rain.  It can flood though as rains can really pound this area.  I hope that you are getting out to see some sights.

We had such a special service this weekend at our church.  19 youth and 5 adults went to Tiajuana, Mexico and built two concrete block houses in one week.  They were tuckered and glad to do it.  I know one couple that is about our age who went and they said the heat was oppressive and difficult for them - I know that we couldn't stand to work in that heat.  Our church youth sends a group to another area of Mexico around Christmas vacation time as well - and now we are involved in building another Habitat house.  And - this is not a huge church, just very dedicated people.  The kids sang for us while we watched a slide show and pictures of the happy people speak for themselves.

Greetings to everyone,

     Pat, Thank you so much for the morning devontional . It is so true about doing something with what I call A CHECK in my Spirit. I have found on many occasions that when I have a CHECK in my Spirit it is from God. For instance;
I was going to drive down the mountain one day and I got 10 miles from home and I knew I should turn around and go back, which I did. Low and behold I went to town got some lunch and when I tried to start the truck OHOH,It wouldn't start. If I had gone down the mountain I would have been 50 miles from home not 8. Now let me tell you the best part of this story, I sat in the truck for a minute and said LORD, you told me not to go down the mountain and I didn't, So I'm asking you to help me here, ok? I ask you to start this truck and When I turned it over it started. I drove straight home and parked it. When Craig went out to see what was wrong with it wouldn't start, it needed a new altenator.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU WILDFLOWER, and many more returns. I am so sorry to hear about the death in your students family. My Heart helt prayers are over them.

Ria, What a lovely prayer you put on this morning. THANK YOU, I am so glad you got to have a great weekend. You keep talking about painting so now you got me started, I am going to paint the back bedroom and office. I am putting my part-time photography studio in there. I have my amior in my room with my computer inn it. It is 6 feet high and 4 feet wide, so I have little room. I am putting it in the office. Give me more room.

Larry, It is so nice to see you posting on vacation. Truely cool to me. I want to get me a lap top. When I get away I miss my computer so. Have a GREAT time out on the boat. I love boating.

As you can see I am up this morning early, Let me give you the schedule, On Monday mornings Craig gets up at 4:00 am to leave the house,He won't come home from work until late Thursday night and sometimes Friday. I spend my week with Cheryl.
I have a dear friend Debby,of 20 years who lives with me she came
last July, she was an alcoholic when she came to us we helped her to turn her
life over to Jesus and she hasn't had a drink since. On June 9th Debby had to go down the mountain to stay at her daughters mother in laws Sharon who is dying of cancer. Sharon got so ill from the treatments that she quit having them, leaving her to go home to die.
Debby, is a great help in my home as to all that  needs to be done here.
Until recently we had 5 goats, 1 donkey, 5 horses, 2 geese, 15 chickens and 1 rooster , 6 dogs and 3 rare birds.
I finally thinned out a few animals. But still there are plenty. Our yard is 10,000 square feet of grass and our home is around 3500 sqare feet. I have several flower beds and we are building an out door studio so there is plenty to do.
In the winter. I use only a fireplace to heat a small portion of the house, which means I get to haul and chop wood.
Funny part is as I think of all these chores I can only Give Thanks to God for taking such good care of me and loving me enough to bless me in ways I could never have imagend.Thank  GOD,I am still stong enough to take good care of all these things and the humor to enjoy it.
God Bless all of you today as you go through the day. May God keep you safe and in peace. ~ALMA

Pat, I hope you have a really good day helping at the election place.  I have thought I would enjoy doing that, but the positions always seem to be filled here.

I am going to go to the church and do some painting today.  They keep asking for help, and I'm good at that, so.........

Beth called to let me know they made it safely to Utica, NY.  I hope she enjoys her time there, and am confident that she will.

Jeanne, that does sound like a lovely service!  I really enjoy music.

I have some things to do here before going to the church at 11:00 to start painting, so guess I'd best get with it!

Beth's friend John sent the following to me and I got a grin out of it, hope you do as well.

Subject: The meaning of life?

On the first day God created the dog. God said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I'll give you back the other ten."

So God agreed.

On the second day God created the monkey. God said, "Entertain people,

do monkey tricks, make them laugh. I'll give you a twenty-year life span."  The monkey said, "How boring, monkey tricks for twenty years? I don't think so. Dog gave you back ten, so that's what I'll do too, okay?"

And God agreed.

On the third day God created the cow. God said, "You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years."  The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I'll give back the other forty."

And God agreed again.

On the forth day God created man. God said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. I'll give you twenty years."  Man said, "What? Only twenty years! Tell you what, I'll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave back and the ten the monkey gave back and the ten the dog gave back, that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God, "You've got a deal."

So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves; for the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family; for the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren; and for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

I got these .gifs in an email and stole them....aren't they cute?  Hope they make you smile when you see them.

Good evening from Indiana.

Long, productive day here.  I dried two loads of clothes on the line.  Dusted the whole house.  Swept the whole house.  Mopped the linoleums.  Fixed lunch.  Washed dishes.  Folded clothes.  Jerry is napping.  But he did trim a short bush and take the trimmings and some cardboard boxes to the woods.  He burnt the boxes.  He likes a nap in the afternoon.  I do too but then I can't go to sleep at night.

Pat, so sorry to hear of you car problems.  I am praying for a cheap solution... ::)  That's the best kind, right?

Sonja, perhaps ask around for the best type of grass for your area.  What grows good here may not grow good there.

Janet, so glad to hear that Beth and John are seeing each other again.  That seems to boost her morale.  She will be fine.

Alma, I love reading your posts.  You seem to be busy doing for others.  That is God's plan.

Larry, glad you arrived at your destination and that you are already posting.  You didn't miss a day!

Jane, glad to see you posting.  I miss your posts.

Happy Birthday, Wildflowerjoy!!!
I know I have missed someone but it sure isn't intentionally.

Church yesterday was different.  We had a team of men that went to North Korea and China a few weeks back.  Brave souls.  The authorities there let 5 men into North Korea first.  Then the rest went the next day.  They weren't to touch the North Koreans.  They weren't to laugh.  They weren't to be the leader.  They went to build a building for orphans.  But the North Koreans were to be the leaders.  They frowned if one of the Americans did something without being showed by the North Korean.  But by the time they were to return to China, the North Koreans were friendly.  Also, our men were glad to be back in China.  They felt safer there even though it was communist China.  They were all happy to return home.

Then last evening Ivalou, Betty, Marg and I went to a small church and heard 'The Shepherds' sing.  Tracy, our nephew, sings baritone.  They must have been rehearsing....they sang great.   ;)  Not really.  They always sound great.  The minister asked how many churches were represented and there were around 15.  This was a small church.  Last Sunday 47 attended worship service.

Well, it is good to see everyone who has been in today.

It has been a quiet day for me.  I have stayed in most of the day, reading, watching a little news and really not doing very much of anything.  I have been here in my recliner "all day long" .  Seems like now that I am "old and gray" there are more and more days when I can sit and think about the blessings God has given me.

Ps 71:15-18  My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation all day long, [/b]though I know not its measure.  I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.  Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.  Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.  (NIV)

I hope you have all had a nice day.

Etta Sue, you sure seem to have lots of energy!  I went to the church and painted a huge shelving unit, and a small room, and I was exhausted!  Came home and took a nap, which is really rare for me. :-\  I didn't get any of my work at home done, except a couple of loads of laundry.  But it will wait for me, tomorrow is coming, and if not, it won't matter one bit!

It is still cool, cloudy and humid here, and our  sod grass is greening up!!!  Yeaaaa!  ;D :D

I guess everyone is trying to get their week off to a good start, not many posts here today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WILDFLOWER JOY!!

Not much happening around this household, so see you tomorrow.

Pat, if you check in, know that you were missed!!

Only on Page two???

Well I have been to work and now I am home.  Made Gloria a big pot of Vegetable Beef stew and a Pineapple upside- down cake.  I took a little bowl of the stew over to Fay. Fay is very hard to please when it comes to cooking, things must be done her way or no way. That's ok though; I aim to please. She did like the stew even if it did have some spices in it.

Not much new here at home same old 7 and 6 ; as my uncle used to say. or Mezzo Mezzo as my step dad used to say. Pretty much the same around here every day. Happy is back to his normal  playful self.

I have my own supper in the oven all in one dish, chicken breast, a quartered potato, a small onion, two cloves of garlic, three carrots,. a little water, sprayed some garlic flavored olive oil on seasoned and wrapped it all in foil and laid it  a pan.

I am really reaching for something to talk about so I will sign off for now.

When I first moved here I believe I shared photos of this home and it's surroundings.  There's a deck out onto the water and it had several large logs tied with rope to look like piers on two corners of it.  Over time I have noticed these piers begin to lean ... then I noticed they were really leaning, because they were rotting at the ground, and pulling the fence over!  I finally decided I needed to have something done about them but there was no way I could do this sort of work/repair.  A couple weeks ago I called the same man who rebuilt the back porch and steps last year.  He and his wife came today and have removed the very rotten piers ... two had termites in them ... and replaced the rail and straightened the fence.  Then Scot cut all the boards he had replaced into fire wood and stacked them in the woodshed for me!

Naturally, after they got to work on the deck, they found more problems than they had anticipated.   :-\  More rot in the 4x6 posts under the deck ... He reinforced them also so everything is safe for this ol' lady again!

I have a friend who tells me I should just sell this place and move into an apartment so I won't have so much upkeep!  So far I don't think I'm ready for that.  Anyway, this is the place the Lord brought me to and worked in every detail of the plan for me to be here at this time.  Maybe I'll need to "move on" some other time but... not today!  ;)

The Lord has always taken care of me and I love Him for that!  Whenever something comes up and I need work done that I am not capable of doing He supplies just the right person at just the right time.  I don't like to talk/write about all the things that need doing because I don't want to appear to be complaining.  I trust my Father to take care of me and/or show me how to fix things that need fixing.  I am always grateful for His loving care.

Now it is time for me to have the oil changed in my car ... I will have to wait a few more days for that, though, until my bank account is resusitated.  :-\

Hey RUTH ANN!!  I didn't chop my wood this year ... had a broken collarbone ... and I may not be able to chop it again for a while.  I need a new chopping block!  Yup, you guessed it ... this one is rotten, too!! :-\

Just checking in to say "HI!" to everybody.   Nothing special happening in the Lee household today.  I worked this morning and Gene had a transport - we got home within about 10 minutes of each other.  Pretty good timing, huh?  Then he did some lawns and I did some (UGH!) housework.  We both sat and read a little, had supper, watched the game shows and that's about it.  Now aren't you glad you know all about my exciting day?  (https://www.christianphotographers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fusers.adelphia.net%2F%7Epairajeans%2FLOL2.gif&hash=40848d301f35e0cc833dc571889e418b6d4a93b2)

WHAT IF
What if God decided to stop leading us tomorrow because we didn't follow Him today?

What if God couldn't take the time  to bless us today because we couldn't take the time to thank Him yesterday?

What if we never saw another flower bloom because we grumbled when God sent the Rain?

What if God didn't walk with us today because we failed to recognize it as His day?

What if, God took away the Bible tomorrow because we would not read it today?

What if, God took away His message because we failed to listen to the messenger?
==THINK ABOUT THIS ONE.........

What if, God didn't send His only begotten Son because He wanted us to be prepared to pay the price for sin?

What if, the door of the church was closed because we did not open the door of our heart?

What if, God stopped loving and caring for us because we failed to love and care for others?

What if, God would not hear us today because we would not listen to Him?

What if, God answered our prayers the way we answer His call to service?

What if, God met our needs the way we give Him our lives???

Pat: How was your day at work and I bet that you are tired as well.

I pray that you get your car up and running soon without too much expense as well.

I am going to do a little reading then head for bed, as others have their off nights for sleeping mine happened to be last night.

I hope that everyone has a great day tomorrow.

My mother had an interesting visitor last night.  About ten o'clock, she saw the kitchen light come on, and then go off.  She assumed it was my little sister coming home.  Then, it came on again, and she heard someone whispering "Aunt Edith?"

She got up and went to the living room, and one of my long-lost cousins had stopped in looking for shelter for the night.  He's not really long-lost, but he is a bit of the drifter.  I guess he would be considered career army, by now.  He's in Delta Force and just got back from North Korea (Etta's story reminded me) and leaves for 6 months in Iraq in a few weeks.  He was riding a motorcycle to his dad's house in TN, but the rain caught him and he was soaked so he stopped at mom's.

He's kinda a neat guy, if a bit weird.  Not saved, by any stretch of the imagination, so I pray about that.   Could really use God.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful day.  I tried to post earlier, but my connection fizzled.  I have no idea what i said in it!

Take care, adn I hope my head isn't about to be slammed by the closing door! :)

I'm very tired.  It's been a very long day and many of us are very disappointed with the results in this country.

Anyway, I must get some sleep...
