Morning Devotional

Why We Should Worship Him

John 17:4, 5 -"I have glorified You on the earth.  I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.  And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself with the glory which I had with You before the world was."

In  prayer, Jesus asked His Father to glorify both Himself and His Father - to restore to Him the glory He had before coming as the Babe of Bethlehem.  Of course it's plain that when our Lord rose from the dead and ascended to the right Hand of The Father, He was thereby greatly glorified.

Prior to His ascension, though, Jesus suffered the Cross, and I want to suggest that Father and Son were glorified in the Cross as well as in the splendor and majesty of heaven. God is glorified in shining forth His mercy and love on the Cross.  The Father's love is glorified in giving His Son to utter desolation there for you.  The Son's love is glorified in giving Himself to that desolation for you.

O worship your King!

O Worship the King
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, You are very great;
You are clothed with splendor and majesty.
Psalm 104:1-2

Words: Robert Grant, in Christian Psalmody, by Edward H. Bickersteth, 1833, alt. This version is a reworking of lyrics by William Kethe in the Genevan Psalter of 1561

O worship the King, all glorious above,
O gratefully sing His power and His love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

O tell of His might, O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light, Whose canopy space,
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.

The earth with its store of wonders untold,
Almighty, Thy power hath founded of old;
Established it fast by a changeless decree,
And round it hath cast, like a mantle, the sea.

Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail;
Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend.

O measureless might! Ineffable love!
While angels delight to worship Thee above,
The humbler creation, though feeble their lays,
With true adoration shall all sing Thy praise.

Hello eveyrone!!

Just finished reading Sunday's posts.  Glad to "see" each of you!!

Soni -- Bernard and I also shot a wedding saturday.  It was my second, his first.  We're still processing the pictures, though.  Between the two of us, we had about 300.  How many did you get??

Etta -- What do you mean only two women in Jesus' lineage?  Seems to me that there would be one woman for every man.  I'm sure if I went and reread your post after having sleep, I would udnerstand it, but right now, I don't get it. :)

I've got to work on some more pictures now.   Laters.

Karma~between me and my helpers I am thinking 500..she only gets 150 proofs and she can view the rest online, I might just have her view them on line unstead of worrying about someone scanning the photos.  Not sure what I am going to do.  What do you guys do?

Etta Sue~Wow, girl!  Sounds like you had a busy but fun weekend.  ROFL..I had to laugh at your comment about the handicap spot.  hehehe..  Chandraya, Mike and I are having our tech. rehearsals all this week. Fun but busy...  ::) ;D We will have dress rehearsal on Thursday and the recital is Friday and Saturday.
Chandraya will be performing in 4 dances..tap, ballet, jazz and her solo(jazz/hip hop).
Mike and I will be performing in 2 productions.
I will be performing in a jazz and tap number. I am pretty jazzed, but Mike is scared out of his pants. lol  He has some pretty big parts in these productions.
Oh yeah.. he also performs in my tap class as a priest. Wish you all could come watch it.  ;D

I start work at walgreens on Wednesday.  My least busiest day. woohoo!

Off to bed I go..it is 12:00am here.  <yawn>

Night and good morning, Everyone!

Hi everyone.  Al, thanks for the devotional this morning.  It is a very good one.

Karmat and Sonja, you ladies are certainly busy.  I would think it would be daunting to deal with that many photos.  My wife had a cousin (now deceased) who was a professional photographer and shot many weddings and other events.  I talked with him a bit about how much work was involved.  I know he used some very sophisticated software and in the last few years was basically doing all of his jobs with his digital camera.  It sounds like you ladies had a great weekend.  Sonja, I wish you, your daughter and husband much success this week in your dance contests.

Etta Sue, it sounds like you had thought of everything when you used the handicapped placard.  Sure Jerry would have enjoyed that.  I have had a handicapped plate and placard (took two separate documents) and find it helpful to get close to the door.  While I can walk well it just leave me very tired when I finish and therefore am trying to limit my steps.  It has been an interesting experience to use the motorized carts in the grocery store.  Unfotunately, at our local Krogers, while they have electric carts, they have the isles so junked up with merchedise that it would be very difficult to get around in the cart.  It takes a lot of room to turn them around.

We had a very nice church service yesterday.  Our youth minister preached and it was highschool graduates recognition day.  We had graduates from 9 different high schools.  The minister emphasized to the graduates to not only look out to the world but to always look up to God as their anchor.  Following the service a group went to a restruarant to eat and after waiting for 35 minutes or so and being blasted by very, very loud music we decided to leave and go up the street to another place.  We did and it was so pleasant there as the music was pleasant and didn't blast you out of your seat.  We also got seated immediately and served quickly and the food was good.

I have nothing unusual on my schedule this week that I know of at the moment.  However, Friday is our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center Volunteers Meeting.

Hope everyone has a good day and week.

Pat

Good Morning Everyone...

Yes, it's still morning.  I've been up since about 3:15 am so it feels like I'm ready to go back to bed!

I'm tired just reading your posts, Soni.  Did you manage to get any Macro Photos into the Photography Cafe comp?

I'm still planning on going away and it will probably be for about 3 weeks so you'll all have a great time with me away.  LOL  I probably won't have internet access even though I'm taking my laptop but that's because I just don't understand how to get it.  There is a friend here that I might ask.

I have a busy day ahead of me.  Lots of cleaning to do.

Good Morning, Thank you Brother Al for today's devotional.

It has been raining here again, "Thank you Lord for the rain that brings forth the wonderful beauty of  the things that grow here in the redwoods, the beautiful trees and flowers." Speaking of flowers the Azalea festival was Saturday I heard on TV that in Eureka they had some kind of Rose  thing going on too.

I sure look forward to when I do not have to work the weekends so I can get out on Saturdays to some of the events that go on around here. I seem to miss out on EVERYTHING. More and more I am thinking  of dropping some hours or one of my clients. Although that is not likely to take place I am not one to quit unless it is someone who mistreats me.

Today after work on my way home I am stopping at the Pastor's house to check the refridgerator for anything thing that needs to be thrown out and collect the dishes that belong to others and take them to the church. Then I will see what else needs to be done there. So my day is going to be another busy one, and I need to get dressed, fix my breakfast and get to Tai Chi before I go to work.

I do believe I am going to have to go to the drug store for something.  After mowing this morning, my face is really burning.  I know my nose is blistered and probably all of me.  In about 10 days, I will look like a snake shedding its skin....yuck!

Not much to say today...said it all yesterday.... 8)

Etta Sue

Oh, yeah!  Karma, I know it takes a woman and a man for each birth but only the men's names are mentioned as the ancestors.  I have looked in three Bible versions and I only see Rahab mentioned in Matthew 1:2-6a in the Contemporary English Version.  Duh, I don't know.

Al Moak

Etta Sue - I fully agree with Marilyn about the aloe vera.  There are some aloe vera creams that are available in the health food stores (or the like), and, if their concentrations of the aloe is at least 50 percent or more, they'll work.  It does absolute WONDERS for sunburn, burns, etc.

Greetings, friends,

I'm now officially on vacation the remainder of the week. I planned to go to our church's retreat center, but don't know if that will happen or not - I'm coughing until tears run down my cheeks, and have a doctor appt (already set up) for tomorrow morning, so will ask what she thinks is wrong.

What a day  have had. I got to Fay's this morning and she informed me that she had a Dr. appt at 1:30. She also has a bad cold and cough. I also made an appointmet withmY Dr. for tomorrow at 11:30 because of this cold and cough that I have had for three weeks. I didn't get to Versal's because of the lateness of Fays appt. But I did get to the Pastor's house to clean out the fridge, take out the garbage and wipe down the counter. Then I sat on the bed and visited with Michele for about an hour.

Tomorrow after my dr. appt. I have to take Versal around to a few places. I would like to get my laundry done tomorrow too. I thought about doing it tonight but I am tired.

Hello and good evening.

We complain about the cold and now we are complaining about the heat.

Pat:  Have a very restful vacation when you leave.

Lots and lots of running around to do today and it turned out that I was away most of the afternoon.

Since I've been up since about 3 am, I'm feeling very tired and I'm shutting the door early.
