Pat, I am so sorry about your dental ordeal today, and you even had to drive home after all that!   :(  Hope you feel better tomorrow.  Would you believe the song you posted for us "Till the storm passes by" was one I just learned on Tuesday!  I joined the OASIS choir at our church right after we became members there last summer.  We oldsters sing mostly the old time songs, but that one was new to me.  Most of the others knew it.
Take care of yourself!

This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Pat - I have often found that when the pain has been most severe, the dew from heaven descends and my soul delights itself in fat things. I pray that will also be the case with you.

I'm in a rush this morning as I am taking my photos to a Mini Market where I have a stall today, hoping to earn a few bob. Oops, sorry. what is the American version of 'A few bob?'

I have a real old copy of 'Streams in the Desert' which I read every morning. It does not seem to matter how often I read through these gems, there always seems to be a crumb from the Master's Table for me.

I have two favourite readings, one of which is posted below, the other, I hope to post on Monday. May it be blessed to your soul and may you enjoy a blessed and peaceful Sabbath.

"Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord." --Exodus 14:13

These words contain God's command to the believer when he is reduced to great straits and brought into extraordinary difficulties. He cannot retreat; he cannot go forward; he is shut up on the right hand and on the left; what is he now to do?

The Master's word to him is, "Stand still." It will be well for him if at such times he listens only to his Master's word, for other and evil advisers come with their suggestions. Despair whispers, "Lie down and die; give it all up." But God would have us put on a cheerful courage, and even in our worst times, rejoice in His love and faithfulness.

Cowardice says, "Retreat; go back to the worldling's way of action; you cannot play the Christian's part, it is too difficult. Relinquish your principles." But, however much Satan may urge this course upon you, you cannot follow it if you are a child of God. His divine fiat has bid thee go from strength to strength, and so thou shalt, and neither death nor hell shall turn thee from thy course.

What, if for a while thou art called to stand still, yet this is but to renew thy strength for some greater advance in due time. Precipitancy cries, "do something. Stir yourself; to stand still and wait, is sheer idleness." We must be doing something at once--we must do it so we think--instead of looking to the Lord, who will not only do something but will do everything.

Presumption boasts, "If the sea be before you, march into it and expect a miracle." But Faith listens neither to Presumption, nor to Despair, nor to Cowardice, nor to Precipitancy, but it hears God say, "Stand still," and immovable as a rock it stands.

"Stand still";--keep the posture of an upright man, ready for action, expecting further orders, cheerfully and patiently awaiting the directing voice; and it will not be long ere God shall say to you, as distinctly as Moses said it to the people of Israel, "Go forward."

Thanks Iain!

I really appreciate your contributions here each morning.   I have a copy of Streams in the Desert that was my parents' copy and I used to read it each day as well.  I must look it up and get it out again.

The pain isn't quite so bad this morning although, I experienced little sleep last night.

At 4 pm this afternoon, I can start rinsing my mouth with salt water.  That, I hope, will also help.  I mustn't do that too soon as salt promotes bleeding.

Anyway, enough of my troubles...

I do pray that each of you experience a closeness with the Lord today as you prepare for the Lord's Day tomorrow.  I pray that you'll all "Stand Still" and wait for the Lord's voice as in Iain's words above, "Go Forward".  Oh that we would all have such a close and intimate relationship with our Master that we hear His voice clearly all the time.

"A few bob"!  I haven't heard that term for a long time, Iain!   ;D  Even though we used dollars over here, Jack used the term "bob" all of the time.  I hope you earn a few today.

Speaking of Jack, Heather gave me a photo to scan of Jack and he's wearing his kilt!  I'll post it over in the photos area for you to see...especially our Iain!  (Iain, do you wear a kilt at all?  Jack loved his and wore it often).

Now, I'm back to lie down with an ice pack on my cheek!

I hope you do come back with a few "bob" today, Iain.  I guess we'd call them "bucks" or "sawbucks."
I appreciate that the kilt means something to the Scots, but I can certainly understand their being called by that name, because I'd feel as if I'd been kilt to wear one!
I'd appreciate your prayer for me, folks.  Today I go up to Brookings, Oregon to preach tomorrow at Pistol River.  But the big thing today is that we'll be meeting my boyhood friend of 53 years ago.  It's the first time I will have seen him in all those years!  It turns out he lives just above Brookings.  I don't know that he knows our Lord, so pray they'll be receptive.

Hi everyone.  It has rained all night long and is really gloomy here today and suppose to rain throughout the weekend.  However, no complaints as we are nice and cozy in our house.  At noon today we are going to the old Stone Mountain Village, which is next to Stone Mountain Park, to attend a special luncheon for good friends of ours from church who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.  So know it will be a time of warm and loving fellowship as we dine together.

Last evening we went out to eat with other friends of our and then they stopped by the house for a few minutes of good conversation.  A very enjoyable time.

Iain, thanks for sharing that writing with us this morning.  Our culture sure doesn't teach uf to "stand still" but those are certainly words of wisdom.

Pat, it sounds like you had a very unpleasant day in the dentist chair yesterday.  Do hope the pain will not be too severe today.  I liked the picture of Jack in the kilt.  One of the couples from our church group are Scottish hertiage and he has a kilt, but have never seen him wear  it, only seen pictures.  They have traveled widely to attend the various Scottish festivals.

Beverly, so glad that your daughter returned to the fold and you have a good relationship with her.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Ruth Ann Bice

Larry, there's a beautiful old German restaurant in that area. My friend and I certainly enjoyed eating there a few years back. Great food and the atmosphere was wonderful.

Good morning!

Iain, we say "make a few bucks" here.  I just asked my husband about a 'sawbuck' and he said he thinks that refers to a $5 bill.  I don't know!  Anyway, I hope you make a good pile of bob today with your photos. ::)

Larry, your day sounds very pleasant.  It rained here most of the night, too, and is quite cool.  Darrel is wondering about pulling the fifth wheel trailer out of the garage, because the ground is so soft and muddy.  We will be taking it to the family reunion, leaving next Thursday, so I hope it dries up enough that we can get the trailer out!  I don't fancy sleeping on the muddy ground. :-\ :( >:(

Pat, I hope your jaw/mouth feels better each hour.  You aren't having all your teeth pulled, are you?  I know a guy here who for years has had ONE tooth left, right in the front!  Not too pretty.  I don't know why he doesn't give up that last one and get dentures.

Hi, Al!  I pray your meeting with your friend proves a real blessing to all involved.

Hello, Janice!  Good to see you here today and I do hope we get to meet someday before too long.  You don't live all that far from me.  I hope both you and Earl are feeling good today.

Hi, Jen!  We miss you when you don't post, so come on in and chat a little more, won't you?

Paulette, good to greet you today.  What are your plans with those cute kiddies of yours today?

Sonja, where are you?  I really miss your posts when they don't appear.  Remember, you are much loved here.

The community here is having a benefit for a couple today, both have cancer.  The wife had colon cancer surgery, and just after being released from the hospital, her husband began to drag one leg, could hardly get around, and he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  They said in Wichita that it was inoperable, but they went to Kansas City, and they did operate.  Now both are taking chemo, etc.  They are a lovely Christian couple, and I hope this day brings in a lot of monetary support to help them with the expenses.  There is a bake sale, rummage sale, and a dinner, all out at the 4-H building on the fairgrounds.  So that's where we will be eating lunch.

I'd best stop before you get bored and run on past!

Hello hello hello

Cold and rainy here.  Well, not really cold, but as i have no socks on, my feet are.  Travis is taking his midmorning nap, and I am trying to get soem work done. Can't you see how hard I'm working!  ;)

Pat, sorry about hte extractions.  I had to have 4 teeth pulled before I could get braces (there was no where for my teeth to move!) then in college, I had oral surgery to remove four impacted wisdom teeth.  I would take the wisdom teeth surgery ANYDAY! over extractions.  Anyway, hope you are feeling better and getting some rest.

bernard and i were going to go riding today, but since it is still raining, decided that it would be better to stay off of the trails.  Wet trails get damaged very quickly.

We have a deep Scottish and Irish heritage here in Western NC.  Though I have never been, Blowing Rock, NC has the Highland Games every year.  They do traditional stuff and most of the men wear their kilts.

Have an awesome day!

Pat

Yea thanks Pat, I sold 11 photographs today and around 50 others took business cards to view the website.

One of the places where the bagpipes stayed for a time was Fort William, unfortunately I cannot remember the other town in Canada.

Two photographs also went to Vancouver this week! Keep it up Canada!

LOL

Pat

Well, Fort William and Port Arthur were two cities at the top of Lake Superior and they've amalgamated into one city called Thunder Bay!

My daughter lived 55 km to the west of Thunder Bay for about 10 years and we missed them a lot.  It is 20 hours drive to get to Thunder Bay from Guelph.  I'm so happy that they are in Southern Ontario now.

Glad you earned a few bob!

Well I have come back in to blow some steam. I am so sorry to let it out on my friends here, please pray. You know the problems with my landsords. well now they are moving all my stuff out of the shed and setting it out side so they can put more of his equipment in  and had another shed delivered this morning on top of that. I told them I wanted my stuff under the eaves of the house and covered with a trarp. I was only using and 2 1/2 X 6 foot spot. I have to go supervise my stuff because when some one else moves it around things get lost. I lready had to go retrieve Brand new curtian rods from their stuff. Then the pump holding tank started leaking and I have no water until some friend of theirs comes to look and see if he can fix it. The friend is to be here "sometime" this afternoon.GRRRRRRRRR >:( >:( >:( I have already lost my cool with them going in and out of my house and all else too. I Let her have it. Oops not very christ like of me either. At least no foul language came out.

Marilyn, it is perfectly all right to defend your rights!  God never asked us to be a door mat for other people.  As long as you pay the rent, the house should be considered yours, and no one has the right to just come barging in whenever they feel like it!  On our lease/rental agreements for the properties we own, we stipulate the right to come in once a month to inspect the property (we don't do it, but if need be, we do have that right) but to just come and go in someone's living space at will just is NOT RIGHT!  Same for the storage space.  I would be upset, too!  And I'm glad you told her about it!

Marilyn God bless you, it sounds like you are being taxed far more than you should.  Yes I am praying for you.  Just remember you are not a doormat you are a child of the King of Kings.  Now take a deep breath and pray that God's peace will fill you and you will have His wisdom to say and do what you need.

Papa John

Let me drop in for a minute today.

Marilyn, sorry about your problems.  Things will be better soon.

Good to see everyone.  Iain, I'm glad you made a few Bob.  I think we would say a few bucks.

Pat, many years ago I was having a wisdom tooth removed.  The dentist had problems with it.  It broke off in pieces and he worked and worked.  He would leave and come back and work some more.  His assistant would pat me on the shoulder and say, "poor Mr. Murphree."  Anyway when it was over the dentist said, "I know you are going to tell people about this."  He just made up a name and said, "Tell them DR SHULTZ did it."  I hope your mouth is well soon.

Joan, I like that passage in James too.  Many times I have gone to the Lord in prayer and asked for wisdom to deal with this or that problem.

I got a water delivery and both tanks are full to the brim, but still can't use the water. I need a shower and still have laundry in the washer. Their friend arrive and is outside working on his truck that is storedd here. Not even looking at the pump and he is the electrician they said they had to wait for. But I am calming myself down relaxing and trying to let go and let God handle this for me. I was sooooo stressed out by them.  As if i don't have enough to do, then they make more work for me to do.
Now the friend tells me that he doesn't know how to fix the pump ll he knows how tdo is install it. Oh My,My, what a weekend.

Niether have I Pat. Well everything is working again My last load of laundry is in the dryer and I will be able to take my shower. what a relief. owever I know that after I go to church in the morning they will be in and out of my house  some more even after I lock the door. I just want to be left alone for the rest of the week end.

Praise God though for the trials and tribulation we go THROUGH. Because He goes  THROUGH them with us. We don't have to get stuck in the middle of the valley with Jesus at our sides.

My kids have a song they like to sing.  It is called The Bear Hunt

Going on a bear hunt
We're not scared,
uhoh Look what's up ahead
It's a muddy swamp.
We can't go over it,
We can't go under it.
Can't go around it,
GUESS WE GOTTA GO THROUGH IT.

So many things in life are muddy swamps and we have to go through them.  BUT we can know that the Lord is holding our hand and He has something to teach us through the mud.

My pastor has a favourite verse "And it came to pass" it didn't come to stay.

My hubby is coming home toight, it is raining and the roads are slick.  Pray for safety as he drives, and a restful day tomorrow.

God bless you all
Judy

Etta Sue

Thanks, Pat, for welcoming be back.  It seems like it was a long time without CP!

What a wonderful two days and nights spent with my niece and her family.  I got to see another niece and her three-week old baby, Isabelle also.  Even got to hold her and give her her bottle.  SOOOO much hair on a baby!  She could use barrettes!  We had two nights of watching dancing.  I took photos of the rehearsal but I don't care for my camera for pictures inside when it is dark and we weren't allowed to use flash.  We brought back Lydia with us.  She is 4.  Talks all the time but hard to understand at times.   :-\  She has already been over to visit Ali and me.

We got home around 1pm today.  I came in, put food out for Ali, changed clothes and mowed the lawn.  Then used vegatation kill around some trees, bushes, and my deck.  Then it was shower time.

Now to get caught up on the PC.  I have read everyone's post.  All I can say is, Beth, follow your heart.  I met Jerry online.  And it is true, you have to be careful...there are some weirdoes out there.  Jerry ARE one!  No, all kidding aside.  Jerry is my special friend.  We met when we both needed companionship.  We are good for each other but we also need our space.

I am ready for the Lord's Day.  Tomorrow afternoon Ivalou, Lydia and I are going on the Home Tour, touring 6 homes in our area.  That should be fun after listening to a wonderful sermon in God's house.

June 6th quote is too good to passover.
"I know things are tough right now, but just remember, every flower that ever bloomed had to go through a whole lot of dirt to get there!"
The todays quote is...
"Eat a live toad first thing in the morning, and nothing worse can happen to you the rest of the day!"

God Bless All of You.

Welcome back Etta!!

Judy, we also used to go on "bear hunts."  We had other verses about things we couldn't go around, over, through, etc.  One of those campfire, action kinda songs.

Marilyn, if nothing else, maybe these trials will make you place up north even more appealing!

Well, i'm off to tour the rest of the site for a moment.  Then, maybe go take some pictures.

Hi, Etta Sue!  Hi, Karma!  Hello, Papa John!

I stayed off the computer for several hours this afternoon and worked on my painting.  I'm doing one of a section of the Great Wall of China.  It's going pretty well, I think.

I want to read for a while, see y'all tomorrow!

I know I haven't been around much lately, but I have a good excuse.  (My mother always said "if you had a good excuse you wouldn't need to use it.")  I've been moving, arranging, re-moving and re-arranging the living room furniture.  I think I finally have it right, at least the big stuff, but now it's the all the little details and accessories.   :-\  All this pushing, pulling, shoving really tires an old lady out and I've been just falling into bed every night.

Next week will be a long one, too.  I'll be filling in for the other girl while she takes one week of her vacation so I'll be working from 8:00 to 5:00 every day, except Friday which will be 8:30 to noon.  My next paycheck will really look nice! ;D

Well, folks, I am going to "hit the hay."  I am extremely sleepy, and don't want to fall asleep at church.  It would be just like my preacher to say something to me.  That, and we have chairs, not pews, and I would probably fall out or something.

Good night all.  have an awesoem Lord's day!
