Morning Devotional...Pastoral Ministry:
A Different Man in the Pulpit
You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe.... --1 Thessalonians 2:10
I am afraid of the pastor that is another man when he enters the pulpit from what he was before. Reverend, you should never think a thought or do a deed or be caught in any situation that you couldn't carry into the pulpit with you without embarrassment.
You should never have to be a different man or get a new voice and a new sense of solemnity when you enter the pulpit. You should be able to enter the pulpit with the same spirit and the same sense of reverence that you had just before when you were talking to someone about the common affairs of life.
Dr. Tozer in Worship: The Missing Jewel of the Evangelical Church, 29."Lord, help me to be a man of impeccable integrity. Give me the grace to be the same man, whether in the pulpit, in a board meeting, caught in rush hour traffic, or at dinner with my wife. Amen."
...and from the left sidebar today...
Today's Verse
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
Thank you Pat, and Dr Tozer, for the good Word. I am just going to chew on this one for a bit. A good loud message.
In His Grip,
kevin
OK!!!!! Pat I have put a pin on the map..... Perhaps the wrong colour!
I had to get rid os cookies or something and voila I can find things you all have been talking about.
I have a Big unspoken request. Cannot talk about it, but, God knows and I would appreciate your prayers.
How is Papa John? Janet don't overdo it. Is there a highschool student who is needing community service hours for a highschool credit that could help out with Beth? Do you have that kind of program where you live? We do and the teens are greatful for any hours they can get. Perhaps ask some questions?
Well it is very late. I have been working on the map and computer for nearly 4 hours. I need some rest so Night all and God bless
Good morning, everyone!
Judy B., Papa John is doing fine. I wish I could say the same for Cornelia. But we believe that little by little she is making some progress.
Each day we feel like we see a little improvement. She is so very weak. If she walks from the bedroom to the kitchen she puts her head on the table and is all worn out which is so unlike Cornelia. Progress is very slow. Often she seems so short of breath. She has been very depressed which is understandable. Her meds includes something for depression. Friday we will take her back to the cardiologist.
Beautiful spring weather here in Tennessee. It is supposed to get up to 76 today. Yesterday we opened the window by the recliner where Cornelia sits. She really enjoyed the outside air.
I hope you all have a nice day.
James 1:17-22
17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
20 for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
(NIV)
Papa John
Give Cornelia our love. We're praying for you guys.
Bernard
Thank you Pat for the wonderful quote from Dr.Tozer. Like Kevin said...I need to "Chew" on that one for a while.Peace, Ritz.
In case anyone missed the answer to the watch-pict-quiz yesterday, the answer is 8 seconds. ;)
Good night... :sleep:
In His Grip,
kevin
Good Morning. Great devotional this morning Pat, thank you.
No rain this morning at least not yet. I hope it stays away or very light while I take Jan to Eureka this morning to shop. I also need to go to Costco to get dog food. since we will be out and about today I am only having 1/2 cup of coffee.
The results of last night's Union meeting is that negotiations for our raise and insurance is still meeting with the brick wall of the Board of Supervisors. These negotiations have been going on for two years and have not moved forward at all. I will probably be retired before that raise every comes through. DRAT!!
Tonight is the first night of our "March of Faith" Pastor Danny will be asking all of us to fast one meal per day for the next 10 days. He will be preaching on "Expect Great Things"
TTYL
I can certainly relate to that devotional, Pat. Thank you for it. Oh how often I've thought about it - I'm preaching the Word, and what I say is quite true. But am I living it? My prayer is often not, "Lord bless Your Word to them, but Lord, bless Your Word to US.

Cleanse Me (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/now.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from ev'ry sin and set me free.
I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within.
Fill me with fire where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.
Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord--in me abide.
O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival--start the work in me.
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

March already!!
I don't have a blog. I am thinking a blog is like a diary online. So if I have a blog is in the NEM's for CP!!
Papa John ~ Do let Cornelia know that we are praying for her and that we love her. God Bless both of you! You are both in God's hands.
This afternoon I am taking the couple to Indiana University for the man's speech therapy. It is an enjoyable time. Just wish the sun was shining a little. Dark and gloomy out there right now.
I will be back late tonight but will be back.?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

I am hurrying to get to the Red Hats meeting, and am picking up Pat, but wanted to pop in and say "howdy!" to all of you. I shall return later...................
Papa John say hello to Cornelia for me, and do take care of yourself as well.
Janet: After I retire I will check out the Red Hats it sounds like an enjoyable time together.
A beautiful afternoon here in southern Ontario.
I will be leaving early for work as I will be stopping at the Dominion store to take advantage of some of this weeks specials. One of the cheeses is half price per lb.
I have a roast in the oven that also will be done in a couple of minutes so better not forget to take care of that before I leave.
All of you have a great day.
Ruth G
Papa John: Sending hugs to you and Cornelia.
A meeting at church this afternoon - and it is terribly windy outside but must go. It is warm and windy.
Ruth, wish we had a Dominion Store near here. I'd love to take advantage of that cheese!
Nice to see you all here and nice to see your pins on the map!
Today is the First Anniversary of Photography Cafe so if you're a member there, it would be nice if you dropped in to say "Hi" We're using the Coffee Counter (http://www.photography-cafe.com/forum/index.php?topic=2277.0) for that purpose and it's the same software as here and last year on March 1st I was looking back and saw you Nita posting! :)
Papa John I am sorry Cornelia is having such slow progress with her recovery. I will continue to pray for her.
Pat thankyou for the help with the members map. I am going to double check and make sure the settings "took"
Hi Janet. I am continuing in prayer for you and Beth.
Kass was going to a friends home from school and unfortunately the bus company won't allow it. So the sleepover will have to wait till the weekend.
I have to go. Melaura likes supper to be ready when she comes home from school, she says it makes her evening longer and she is less hungry. That is fine with me, gives me a longer evening to. I am pulling the sewing machine out tonight to make a friends daughter a nighty and one for her doll. I have been putting this off for too long.
Well bye for now
Love Judy
Ruth, Red Hats is fun! Today we just met in a local restaurant and ate and visited, but we do other things, go other places sometimes, too. I wanted Darrel to take a new photo of me in my Red Hat regalia, but no camera........ :(
Papa John, my love and prayers are undergirding you and Cornelia at this time.
RUTHIE, this is for YOU.....I was reading a report from Dr. Blaylock last night, and he warns CHOLESTEROL LOWERING DRUGS ARE DANGEROUS!! Some can even kill you! He says to take Policosanol instead. It is available without a prescription, much cheaper than the statin drugs, and there are NO side effects!! Wonderful news, I think! Darrel and I are already taking the Policosanol. We will get our blood lipid profiles done again soon, and I hope to see an improvement then.
Marilyn, I saw an ad for the Cholest-Off on TV last night, too. And I am still taking the Natural Cholesterol Balance, but will discontinue it when I take up what I have on hand.
Pat, I would love to be involved with Photography Cafe, but I don't even have time to check out Senior Net any more. Where does the time go, anyway? ??? :-\
JudyB, thanks for your concern. We are looking for other options for Beth, also praying about her situation. It isn't really safe to leave her alone when we go out of town, and we don't want to be tied down all the time, either. And Beth understands that.
My floors still haven't been vacuumed.........where is that housekeeping fairy when you need her???
Hey there, Nards! Hi, Karma!
See y'all later!
That's ok, Janet. I was only asking that if anyone is a member that they could leave a message today but it's ok if you can't. (Are you a member?)
Judy, looks like your pin is just great on the map! <3
Just heard this on the radio and I think it's a lovely hymn...

Give of Your Best to the Master (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/giveOfYourBestToTheMaster.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Author: Howard B. Grose, 1851-1939
Musician: Charlotte A. Barnard, 1830-1869
Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every
heave offering of the LORD, of all the best thereof,
even the hallowed part thereof out of it.
Numbers 18:29
Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Throw your soul's fresh, glowing ardor
Into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example,
Dauntless was He, young and brave.
Give Him your loyal devotion;
Give Him the best that you have.
Refrain
Give of your best to the Master;
Give of the strength of your youth.
Clad in salvation's full armor,
Join in the battle for truth.
Give of your best to the Master;
Give Him first place in your heart.
Give Him first place in your service;
Consecrate every part.
Give, and to you will be given;
God His beloved Son gave.
Gratefully seeking to serve Him,
Give Him the best that you have.
Refrain
Naught else is worthy His love.
He gave Himself for your ransom,
Gave up His glory above.
Laid down His life without murmur,
You from sin's ruin to save.
Give Him your heart's adoration;
Give Him the best that you have.
Refrain
(https://www.christianphotographers.com/forum/graphics/musicbar.gif)
Papa John, if I was Cornelia, I wouldn't be walking at all just resting! Praying for you both.
THIS IS MY PRAYER
Bless me, heavenly Father,
forgive my erring ways,
Grant me strength to serve Thee,
put purpose in my days...
Give me understanding,
enough to make me kind
So I may judge all people
with my heart and not my mind...
And teach me to be patient
in everything I do,
Content to trust Your Wisdom
and to follow after You...
And help me when I falter
and hear me when I pray.
And receive me in Thy Kingdom
to dwell with Thee some day.
~By Helen Steiner Rice~ :) ;)
Thanks for sharing that, Chris. I used to have a book of Helen Steiner Rice's poetry and now that I think of it, I haven't seen it for a long time. Maybe I loaned it to someone.
Lovely!
The wind is blowing a lot and I am shutting down my PC to be on the safe side , See y-all tomorrow.
The wind is howling here, too, Marilyn. March coming in like a lion!
We had grilled chicken breasts, fried apples and potato salad for dinner (supper). Not all health food, but it did taste good. ;) I took a plate over to Beth, too.
I just had a chat with Toni, my grandson's fiance`. We cleared the air about some things. I want to be able to love her as I do him.
It is almost church time. Pastor is out of town at a prayer summit, and Darrel's friend (and mine) Mark is leading the srvice. Should be good!
Papa John, I'm continuing to pray for Cornelia and you and your family. Her recovery is bound to be slow, after all she's been through a lot. Give her my love, too.
This morning, I was snuggled so nicely under the covers :sleep: and then the phone started to ring. I kept telling it to stop, but it wouldn't. When I had my eyes open just a little I could see it was from the woman I fill in for. Darn! Of course, she wanted me to cover for her and of course I agreed. Then I noticed it was already 7:45 and the office opens at 8:00 so I said I'd go in but I would be late. I was, too. I didn't get there until 9:30. Oh, well! ;)
Another cold day today. We're running about 10 degrees below the average for this time of year. Spring and the flowers seem a long way off, but time will fly and soon we'll be complaining about the heat. :thumbsup:
We are having c-c-c-c-cold weather this week. Almost like what we expected in January. Aparently an indian called "Restoule" has perdicted more snow before spring. As much as we have had to date. Aparently he is seldome wrong. I hope this year he is wrong as we have about had it with the snow. As it is the amount we have, if there is a fast thaw we will loose our driveway and the road leading to the house. One year we also lost the main road due to flooding. As a result of that experience we now pray for a slow thaw, with enough cold to balance the runoff.
The girls and I have taken to reading a chapter in Proverbs every evening. Kassie particularly enjoys reading the Bible out loud. She insisted on reading 2 proverbs tonight. It is interesting that it doesn't matter how often we read a specific chapter we always come out with a new application for a certain verse.
Well I am weary tonight, the puppies are barking and need attention. I think I will deal with them, feed the furnace and then go to bed.
Night all
We have had wind here too. It's raining at the moment.
It was really nice earlier and I was grateful. My granddaughter has her driver's permit. We've been driving for the last two days. Her mom and dad both have stick shift. That leaves gramma's car as the only automatic. She is a really good driver and I feel comfortable with her driving. Knowing how it is when you first get to drive, I know she'll want to drive every single day. That won't happen, but she'll want it. haha Having the only car she can drive gives me great leverage in getting things done too. Today she did some cleaning for me before we left.
I feel bad for Cornelia, Papa John. I hate to see anyone going through depression. Bless her heart. I pray this pass and she will become stronger.
Jeanne Lee, so many times I've started to take a nap and the phone ring. It's always someone wanting my political views or wanting me to donate to a charity. I guess I need caller ID, but don't have it.
g'night to everyone.
It's that time again. Time to lock up for tonight.
You may continue posting here (http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=5227.msg96152#msg96152).
