JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

OOPS, forgot to tell you, Sonja---that is my very favorite Easter hymn.  If they fail to sing it on Eater Sunday I am SO disappointed, and feel it wasn't really Easter... :'(  But I discovered it will not play on my computer, I get a message about needing a disc or something???  :'( :'( :'(  They used to always play on here. ???

Hi, friends, I decided to take a bit of a lunchtime break. So hurried home, took the dogs out, cooked a bite of beef veggie soup (doncha just love homemade soups!) and now I'm on my way back to work.

Y'all have a great afternoon.

Pastoral Ministry: In Need of a Physician

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in
green pastures; He leads my beside the still waters. He restores my
soul....
--Psalm 23:1-3

Human nature being what it is, the man of God may soon adopt an air
of constant piety and try to appear what the public thinks he is.
The fixed smile and hollow tones of the professional cleric are too
well known to require further mention.

All this show of godliness, by the squeeze of circumstances and
through no fault of the man himself, may become a front behind
which the man hides, a plaintive, secretly discouraged and lonely
soul. Here is no hypocrisy, no intentional double living, no actual
desire to deceive. The man has been mastered by the circumstances.
He has been made the keeper of other people's vineyards but his own
vineyard has not been kept. So many demands have been made upon him
that they have long ago exhausted his supply. He has been compelled
to minister to others while he himself is in desperate need of a
physician.  God Tells the Man Who Cares, 115.

"Lord, I pray for pastors everywhere today who are indeed exhausted
and depleted. The task is so overwhelming and the demands so
extreme. Come today with a fresh breath of Your Spirit to refresh,
renew, and restore. Amen."

karmat

Chris, Thank you for that.  So many times I think we forget to pray for pastors and their wives.  No one knows the enormous load and responsibilty they bear unless they have seen it first hand (my brother is a preacher, and my best friend's husband is one).  If it were not for Jesus sustaining them daily hourly minutely, I think many would be crushed.  An awesome prayer that should be prayed often.

Greetings all!  I've just got caught up on yesterday and today and now it's time to put the finishing touches on supper.  Gene's going to a men's bible study tonight so we need to eat a little earlier than usual.

March came in like a lamb around here - 50's temperatures and some sun, some rain.  The snow is melting - in fact at the base of the trees you can actually see a bit of the ground!!! :o :o :o :o

Hi Folks,   tonight I am going back with my team to see ANYOLFI  who came to the Lord last Tuesday out in the hall of his apartment building.    Tonight his brother MOYSES will be there also.    Praying for another salvation.    As I posted last night, Anyolfi walked to the church on Sunday morning, came in and sat by himself.   Then Billy, my Jr. trainer saw him and sat with him.  I think he will be going to the youth Bible study this week.

Pray that Anyolfi will grow in the Lord and he will discover abundant life in Jesus Christ.   I will check in when I get home.   God Bless

Papa John

We have a quiet day here.  It has been like spring with beautiful sunshine and the temperature has been up in the 60's.  Cornelia and I had our walk in the neighborhood this morning.  I am trying to walk for a mile each day but some days we don't get around to it.

I found advertisements for 8 and 11 pixel cameras.  I believe the 11 pixel cost around $8,000.00.  I decided not to buy one.

One of everyone's favorite passages is I Corinthians 13.

1 Cor 13:1-3
1   Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
2   And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3   And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.  (NKJ)

Good to see everyone today.  We continue to enjoy our Bible reading each night.  We are up to the 9th chapter in Joshua.

I received this email from our cousin  in Toronto.  I think it is self explanitory.

Here's a message that will bring you chills. Have you ever felt the urge
to pray for someone and then just put it on a list and said, "I'll pray for them later?"

Or has anyone ever called you and said, "I need you to pray for me, I have this need?"
Read the following story that was sent to me and may it change the way that
you may think about prayer and also the way you pray. You will be blessed by this.

A missionary on Furlough told this true story while visiting his home church in Michigan.

"While serving at a small field hospital in Africa, every two weeks I
traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies.
This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway
point. On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to
collect money from a bank, purchase medicine and supplies, and then begin
my two-day journey back to the field hospital.

Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had
been seriously injured I treated him for his injuries and at the same time
talked to him about the Lord.

I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident.

Two weeks later I repeated my journey. Upon arriving in the city, I was
approached by the young man I had treated. He told me that he had known I
carried money and medicines.

He said, 'Some friends and I followed you into the jungle, knowing you
would camp overnight. We planned to kill you and take your money and
drugs. But just as we were about to move into your camp, we saw that you were
surrounded by 26 armed guards."

At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle
campsite. The young man pressed the point, however, and said, 'No, sir, I
was not the only person to see the guards, my friends also saw them, and
we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and
left you alone.'

At this point in the sermon, one of the men in the congregation jumped to
his feet and interrupted the missionary and asked if he could tell him
the exact day this happened.

The missionary told the congregation the date, and the man who interrupted
told him this story:

"On the night of your incident in Africa, it was morning here and I was
preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt when I felt the urge to pray
for you. In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong, I called men in
this church to meet with me here in the sanctuary to pray for you. Would
all of those men who met with me on that day stand up?" The men who had met
together to pray that day stood up.

The missionary wasn't concerned with who they were, he was too busy
counting how many men he saw. There were 26."

This story is an incredible example of how the Spirit of the Lord moves
in mysterious ways. If you ever hear such prodding, go along with it.
Nothing is ever hurt by prayer except the gates of hell.  I encourage you to
forward this to as many people as you know. If we all take it to heart,
we can turn this world toward God once again. As the above true story clearly
illustrates, "with God all things are possible." More importantly, how
God hears and answers the prayers of the faithful.

After you read this, please pass it on and give God thanks for the
beautiful gift of your faith, for the powerful gift of prayer, and for
the many miracles He works in your own daily life...and then pass it on. Who says
God does not work in mysterious ways?

Al Moak

Thanks so much, Chris, for explaining the need for prayer for pastors and for providing that prayer.  As a pastor myself, I can certainly verify all that was said about the need for prayer.  Oh - not only pray, but minister to your pastor in love.  Just talk to him as you would any other brother or sister - he is one.  He needs you to exhort him, encourage him, even rebuke him.  Christ is the Pastor - that man you're dealing with is your brother.

I went to the Hospital and had my Mammogram and echocardiogram, all went smoothly. While I was there I went  to Visit Erin a sister who sings in the choir and is married to Willa's grandson. She had a C-section yesterday and delivered an 8lb. 9 oz. baby girl. Emma Nichelle (that is spelled right N not M) My Pastor and Judy were there; They are Aunt and Uncle to the baby's daddy. Erins mother was also there from Oregon.

Speaking of Oregon, I might be going up there in April to see Jane and Nita and some other SN'ers A bash.

That's all for now.

Al.............

Well said, and  from the heart.

Chris..........

Our church sent our pastor to Southern California this week to attend the pastor's conference at Grace Community Church.  There will be over 3800 pastors from not only the USA, but many other countries as well.   Their wives are scheduled to attend a seperate conference in an adjacent building.  The wives being so close to their husbands and their ministery, they  are often affected in other serious ways.  How difficult it would be for a pastors wife to constantly have to hold her husband up when he can be so very low.  His burdens become hers as well.   It's perhaps equated with being lonely in a crowd (The pastors).

I have just finished reading all of the posts and enjoyed listening to the music.

I sure love the new computer, but the changes I have to get used to as well.

I just came back from EE and visiting Anyolfi.   He will be going to the Youth Bible Study and while we were there he asked a lot of questions.   Hopefully we answered them all to his satisfaction.   I asked about his brother Moyses and he said that he was not ready yet to listen to the gospel.

There were other salvations on the other teams.  It has been a good night!

God Bless
