Morning Devotional...

For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Heb. 13:5

This is an astounding promise. Has anyone else ever made it to you? Do you believe it?

Abraham, Moses, Esther, David and Ruth are just a few examples
of those who staked their lives on it. The promise was true for them, and it's true for us.

But how should we respond to this amazing promise during times in our lives when we feel alone and overwhelmed? What about when we are ill, hurt, or afraid?

It is at times like this that it is even more important to claim this promise as our own and to remember that God is with us every moment.

Then as He works, remember to praise Him for His faithfulness.
--Pam Hagey

Never Alone  (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/never-alone.mid)
(Click to hear music)

I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:1

Words: Ludie D. Pickett, 1897.
Music: Arranged by Fred Jackey

I've seen the lightning flashing, I've heard the thunder roll.
I've felt sin's breakers dashing, which almost conquered my soul.
I've heard the voice of my Savior, bidding me still to fight on.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

Refrain

No, never alone, no never alone,
He promised never to leave me,
He'll claim me for His own;
No, never alone, no never alone.
He promised never to leave me,
Never to leave me alone.

The world's fierce winds are blowing, temptation sharp and keen.
I have a peace in knowing my Savior stands between—
He stands to shield me from danger when my friends are all gone.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

Refrain

When in affliction's valley I tread the road of care,
My Savior helps me carry the cross so heavy to bear;
Though all around me is darkness, earthly joys all flown;
My Savior whispers His promise, never to leave me alone!

Refrain

He died on Calvary's mountain, for me they pierced His side.
For me He opened that fountain, the crimson, cleansing tide.
For me He waiteth in glory, seated upon His throne.
He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

Refrain

Good Morning thank you Pat for the devotional today.

It was hailing a little bit when I let the dogs out this morning, but As I look out my window to the north west I can see the clouds sepaerating and some light coming through I can't be the sun 'cause the sun come up in the east. I  Did not sleep good last night. Maybe better tonight.

Yes, I can see that light Marilyn is talking about.  I think the sun crept around to the other side and will come up in the West today.  That's called a reversal in fortunes.

At least it isn't raining just now.

Well, Pat, at least that fellow in your graphic won't have to take time eating - but he may require a little more time washing.

Yes, Karma - maybe about two hours before midnight will do it.

MArilyn I had a dog like that.  Charlie would crawl under the nearest bed, couch or table if there was lightening.  He was a big dog and the bed would move with his effort!

Puppies are running around trying to be ferocious.  They are growling and barking at each other.  Really funny.  They are squirmy wormies when we pick them up.

Karma get some rest on the weekend!

Thanks for the devotional, Pat.  I am listening to the music right now.  That promise is something we really need to hold on to in these changing times:
For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Heb. 13:5

I didn' t realize my posting sounded like a lesson, Judy.  It was in answer to Janet's question about the Malahat.  Wendy & Ralph were held in a long line of traffic for ages....there were  three accidents on the stretch of hwy. when they went to Victoria.  My worry is for Amanda, who will be driving that way every day when attending university this fall.......

The Anglican Church is closing many of its' churches on the island.  One is a little church of over 100 yrs. old, where I used to live.  So many people of that faith are elderly and very upset.  What dreadful things are happening....

Trying to find out information on the internet is quite a challenge.  I have been looking into something medical and think the person who once wrote that the Internet is a seething cauldron of half truths, opinions, outright lies and lunacy, wrote one of the few on track statements to be found.  Not the Wild West of communications....more like the twilight zone. ::)

Snow is still all over the ground.  Misty has decided that it is fun and loves to play in it now.  Could be because she can come in and get dried off every little while...then out to get wet again!  Pets ;)

Time to go and do something useful....like ironing!

Pleasant Day/Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Good morning!! It is an amazing day today!  Hail, sunshine, and hail/rain mix ... At the moment it is beautiful sunshine.  Still Winter for a few more days so I suppose this is to be expected.  I am happily stoking a fire and enjoying it all!

Pat, the devotional is great and the hymn is my theme song!   ;)  I love the thought that He is always with me ... in sickness and in health ... I'm NEVER alone.

P.S. I'd say that fella has egg on his face!

Liz, thank you for the explanation and interesting information on the Malahat.  It sounds like a beautiful place to look at, but a nightmare to drive, especially in bad weather!  Could Amanda maybe rent a room where the university is, and not have to drive that every day?  Goodness, I don't blame you for being concerned.  I also want to say again how much I enjoy your "smiles" and especially liked the definitions.  Thanks!  :)

We have been on the phone this entire morning, calling car dealers and looking for a mobility van to get for taking Beth places.  Man!  Those things cost a fortune, and are really hard to find used ones!  We have called Colorado Springs, Denver and Amarillo, besides every dealer in our area.  And the more we learn, the more confused we are.  Which way to go?  ??? ???  My brain is tired........... :-\

Beth is really liking her power chair, but she uses it all the time, thus losing what strength she had in her upper body.  How to get her to move her body more?  Does she listen to Mom?  Not very well. Sigh................

I need to get some things done here in the Damon household.  So I will catch you all later.

PS Pat, cute graphics today!!!

Janet that "not listening" is a normal state for those who are disabled.  An elderly lady I knoe has been told by the doctor that ti be healthy she needs to walk.  SHe does the minimum with the words "You just don't know how hard it is!"  Keep your chin up, this too shall pass.  I wish I lived near you I would gladly help you out.  Have you checked into respite care?  That may be of help.  I am continuing to pray that your need is met.

Jane spring is coming.  Not soon enough but will be here "soon"  you and I shoule take some of the precipitation we are getting and send it to the areas that have a drought going.   Have a good day.

Papa John and Gord I am praying for each of your needs.

Well I will be off the puter for a couple of days so have a good weekend everyone.  God bless each of you.

Thanks so much, Judy.  I believe the only respite care available here is at the care home, where she absolutely does NOT want to be.  We are still making calls and looking on the computer for vans............. :-\

We had to buy new shoes for our "baby" yesterday. (Tires for the PT Cruiser.)  They cost $100 each!! :o  Yikes!!  The front ones had the steel showing in them.

Gotta run, again!  Have to type a letter for Beth now.

Well, this has been our day for spending the $$$$$$$!!  The van we looked at in Amarillo seems to be the best buy we can find, so we told them we will take it.  OUCHIE in the ol' pocketbook!!

I have to go weigh out tonight for the Community Meltdown, after 7:30.  Have to have been up for a minimum of 12 hours, and not having eaten in at least two hours.  Hope my body fat content has gone down some more.  I'm really sore from the past three days' workouts.

Tomorrow is the health fair here, and we will be taking Beth.  All of us will have our blood lipid tests done, and that is a savings of over $1000 for the three of us!  Our Pioneer Electric Company pays for all of it, and this is always the day of their annual meeting.  It is a cooperative, owned by us, the customers.  Nice deal!  :)

I haven't accomplished anything today except getting the laundry and dishes done.  The rest of the day has been spent on the phone. :yakyakyak:  I have brain fatigue from thinking of all the options, comparing, trying to make the best decision for Beth.  When I ask her what she thinks we should do, she says "whatever you and Darrel think I should do."  :idiot:  I need a  :coffee:, but I don't dare, or I won't sleep at all tonight.

Okay, enough of this!  Bye!

Have a nice hot cup of Chammomile Tea Janet When you get back from your weigh out.  I just had a cup of Green/Jasmine blended tea. So Janet you have accomplished something you haven't totally wasted your day on the phone.

I am doing my laundry and have done my vacuuming as well and at Pastor Leroy and Joanne's house today.  It snowed/sleeted here today. Was a very interesting day here on the coast of California. They said on the radio that the snow level was at sea level. HMMMMM Interesting.

Hi everyone.  This was a very busy day with a morning meeting and an afternoon meeting.  We had an excellent speaker this afternoon who spoke on how to convert old print photos into digital photos by using your digital camera.  He also spoke on computer security with an emphasis on malware (something I really knew very little about).  He told us of a program like AdAware and Spybot (which are free) and one called Ewido (www.ewido.net) for malware removal that you can try for 14 days but then is $29.95.  I will check it out shortly.

I guess the saying about the sack must be a midwest saying since Janet was aware of it.  I heard my mother say that all the time I was growing up.  Guess each area of the country has certain saying or phrases unique to that area.

I got a new office chair delivered today but was only able to get the old one out of my office and the new one out of the box.  I will try to assemble it in the morning.  Just getting it from the box into my office really wore me out.  It is a burgundy high-back leather chair and was very comfortable in the store.  My old chair broke down a few days ago when I leaned forward and it gave you the sense you were falling out of the chair.

Janet, glad you found a van to use with Beth.  With her powered chair and the ramp and now the van you shouldn't have to lift her now.

Papa John, hope the appointments weren't too exhausting for Cornelia today.

It is hard for me to realize that it is snowing out West and in Canada.  It was 75 degrees here a little while ago.  It was a beautiful day.

I have read all the posting and glad to see each person posting.

Well, we DID have a day of it. We went for the MRI and after filling out the papers the lady said, "Oh, she has a pacemaker. We can't do an MRI for her. It turns out that this order was given before she had the pacemaker installed and it had been rescheduled because she was in the hospital. It was a mix up. Anyway they called the doctor and his nurse said for us to come on to the hospital to see the doctor. He was pleased with her progress. No more fluid on her lungs this time. We go back next Thursday.

Hi Ruth Ann  ;)

Papa John I have been following your reports with great interest and prayer ... I am so happy to hear of Cornelia's steady improvement.   I'm sure you both feel it is slow but it is steady.  We can praise God for that.  I know you do.

Marilyn I think we were experiencing the same sort of weather today.  I awoke to a dusting of snow and that was soon enhanced with hail and sleet.  There were periods of hail, rain, sleet, snow and then the cycle would repeat ... all intersperced with periods of bright sunshine.  I couldn't keep away from the window as I maveled at the awesome display of God's majesty.

At one point, after an especially prolonged downpour of sleet and hail, it looked like a winter wonderland here.  The trees and ground were all white and then the sun came out and shone brightly.  I saw our resident swan and several ducks glide by on the lake.  It was really beautiful ... the white swan against the dark water and the white on the ground and trees all around the lake.  Didn't have a camera or I'd sure like to share that moment with y'll.  :-\

Anyway, it was a beautiful day in my neighborhood and I enjoyed every moment! Told my Father how much I loved Him for letting me experience such a display of beauty.  Every form of percipitation all in one day!   :D

Jane, I had exactly the same weather over here.  Strange, huh?  :P

And it was beautiful while it lasted.   I agree.  I imagine your view was much prettier than mine, with the lake and all.

Papa J.  it is so good to hear your reports of Cornelia.  I'm just thrilled with her recovery. I know.......not as much as you are. :)

My daughter, Kim, and I have been busy upstairs getting a room ready for my sis.  She's moving from Portland to live with me awhile.  Her daughter and grandkids are moving to California, so she decided to just come back this way.  Angel, grandaughter, had the room last,  before she went to live with her dad.  Before that my grandson had it.  It really gets used. haha  I'll enjoy Sue being here.  She's coming sometime in April.

Blessings,  Nita

Nita, Jane, Al, Marilyn, or anyone else with excess moisture, PLEASE send it here!!  I am trying not to be envious of the beautiful weather you got to witness, in a beautiful setting, Jane.  What a great description of it, too.  I can see it in my mind's eye, just from reading your description.

Nita, how nice that your sis can come stay with you a while!  It is nice to have family around us.

We are ready to head out to the health fair, just waiting for Beth to finish getting ready.  I could help her get dressed, but she tends to not do for herself is anyone else is available to help her, and I want her to do whatever she can for as long as she can.  Sigh........does being a Mom ever get any easier?? :-\

Tonight Darrel and I are going to a dinner theater in Elkhart with Diane, Jeff and Abby, to see "The Foreigner."  That is one of my all-time favorite plays!  ;D

Talk atcha later!

Everything is white and frozen this morning, Fay called me yesterday and told me to take the day off with pay, she didn't want to me take any chances driving around on icy rods to get to her house. I can't believe that Happy of mine, he is out there by the fence just sitting there looking through the fence on the icy cold ground. After the stuff thaws out I will go check on the Pastor Leroy and Joanne, I already know there is nothing to do over there today. I did it all yesterday. The only thing would be to empty and sterilize her potty chair and make the bed.

Hi everyone.  I am sitting here waiting to help with a webcam demo with my friend Rod.  He is over in Huntsville, Alabama giving his presentation.  I was watching and listening to him for quite awhile but then the connection was stopped.

Papa John, while I am sure the mixup yesterday was frustrating I hope the good news concerning no more fluid more than made up for it.  As I mentioned before getting the fluid removed was the key to my recovery after my first heart surgery.  Hopefully Cornelia will feel stronger each day as that helps alot with the depression.

Marilyn and Jane, it sounds like it is still winter out your way.  I had to reverse my ceiling fan this morning here in my office so I could feel the air move as it is really warm here today.  The flowering trees are all about leafed out now.  We may still have some cold days but probably no more frost or ice.

Nita, will your sister be planning to stay with you permanently or is this just a temporary thing?

Janet, when will you be getting the van with the lift?  You are wise to let her fend for herself as long as possible.  Hope you really enjoy the play tonight.  Don't think I know of that play.

Pat, I did get my new chair put together this morning.  It was hard as just had to put in twelve bolts to fasten the arms to the seat and back and to put on the base.  It is very comfortable.  I am sitting in it as I write.

Ruth Ann, glad to see your posting as we have been missing hearing from you.  Hope you are OK.

I hope to get a lot of computer work done today and also watch the ACC and SEC basketball tourney games on tv this afternoon and evening.  This is the time of year that basketball becomes interesting as you see the best teams play.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

What a beautiful day we're having today.  The sun is shining and the temperature got up to 55!!!  I needed to go to our church to help with setting up some things for One Great Hour of Sharing and was almost (but not quite) tempted to walk.  However, going there is all downhill, but coming back of course it would be uphill and three miles of climbing didn't really sound that tempting.  ;)  Next week we'll be back into mid March weather, in the low 30's, instead of this lovely late April spell.

Yep, Jeanne, it's late April here today, too, though the cloudiness is gradually increasing.  Was absolutely beautiful and sunny this morning.  Yesterday the sleet came down and gave us about a half inch on the ground.  Then the snow absolutely poured down, but didn't stick for about an hour.  Then it settled into just rain.

All that moisture will come your way, Janet, but whether it actually gets that far south depends on what the states north of you take from it.  If they grap it all, then you won't get any.  I'd call 'em and tell 'em if I were you.

Larry, I absolutely love a chair like that.  Would you come out here and make another one for me?

We are home from the Pioneer meetings/health fair.  We took Beth's power chair, and she enjoyed riding all around and visiting with folks; she knows a lot of people and is a social person.  I think being cooped up at home so much is not good for her.  Darrel and I had our hands full, taking her power chair apart, then putting it back together!  It is pretty simple, but even the parts are HEAVY!  So we are thinking we made the right decision about getting the van.

Larry, we will go get the van as soon as the money makes it down the pipeline.  We had to sell stock to get the money for the van.  :(  Sure hate to use retirement money that way, but neither of us needs to be lifting and straining and taking the chance of hurting ourselves.  So we just trust the Lord to provide for our needs along with Beth's.

Interesting note:  The dealer told us that in Texas, they charge no sales tax on the vehicle or equipment for a handicapped person.  So we called our tax office and were told we will have to pay sales tax on the whole thing.  >:(  But the dealer says he will give us separate bills for the van and the conversion/equipment, and that way we have to pay on the vehicle but not the equipment.  At 6.5% on that many thousands, it really adds up.

Hey there, Kevin!  Good results on the counselling!

We are just waiting now until time to drive over to Hugoton to go to the play with the kids.

So....I didn't have to cook at all today---neither does Darrel!---because we had to fast for the blood tests; Pioneer served us lunch, and we eat dinner at the play!  :D :D  I call that a good day! Hahahahaha.

Jeanne, glad you are enjoying a day of lovely weather!

Talk about strange weather....!  We have snow where flowers are usually making an appearance and had a thunder/lightening storm last night, to rival those in Alberta in summer.  The second time this has happened in a month.  Right over the house and LOUD!  Even this old prairie hen was worried :o  I have lived on the island quite a few years and never experience a winter like this one.  Hope we don't have another earthquake!  I may join the cats under the bed.  We don't have thunder storms on the island :o

No, Janet, being a mother never ends!  I have the opposite problem with my daughter.  She insists on doing all the housework, gardening and makes gourmet meals for her family, even tho' in dreadful pain and hardly able to walk.  Depression is beginning to be a problem, drs. always saying different things, Insurance Co. lying and corrupt.  There will not be enough, when done, to more than just cover the horrible expense created since the accident.  All because of fakers and liers who have played the system.  So honest folks pay the price as usual.  I think the one thing that has kept her sane is the ability to laugh and look for small blessings in each day.  That and doing things for others.  I thank God for the church in 1973 that gave us both a firm foundation in our faith and the strength to get through most things without strong narcotics or drink.  Without God to assure one that things will be alright, life would be a place without hope.

Beth does not have a caring husband or child and loneliness must cause a horrid sense of despair.  Chronic pain taxes one and distorts our thinking.  I have quite a lot of experience with this.  She needs to be with people.  Especially people who have similar problems of pain and have learned to fight and overcome.  Sometimes we need to pray for God to send someone who will help to bring strength of spirit and joy.  I always look for blessings, rather than miracles.  So that is what I am going to pray God will send into Beth's life.  Family is great, sometimes it simply isn't enough....

I hope that this has not exceeded my place by saying these things.  Dealing with and finding words to encourage, seem to be a daily part of this person's life.  Have found that laughter makes things better and my daughter has never lost that....she makes others feel better.  Could be we can pray someone like that into Beth's life.

God Bless.

Amen
To the devotionals and all of the encouraging words from all that have posted.

The signs of spring are all around us the melting of snow has made the ground soggy but that means we have been getting our share of sun.

Many little jobs  got done today, a couple being that I made a large batch of speg. sauce - 8 containers for future meals.  I have taken a zipper out of a jacket so now the jacket is waiting for me to purchase and replace the whole with a new one.

Time to sign off and enjoy the rest of the evening.

Ruth speaking of removing zippers, I have a nice pr. of Dockers pants that  I need to do the same thing to and have just been putting it off too long. I dread doing zippers, I did so many of them when I worked in the  alterations department at Mervyn's .

Liz you just keep on encouraging, that is a ministry and you certainly do a fine job in that ministry. Yes I agree that we need to pray someone  like that into Beth's life. Someone who will visit her often and do things with her.

I went to another Mary Kay party this afternoon and had wonderful fellowship with  4 other ladies from my church all younger than I.  Three in the early twenties. We had a wonderful time together.

Please continue to pray for Pastor Bill Oliver, he received a Doctors report that he has bone Cancer but neither he nor  Peggy are accepting that report.

Talking of zippers I have 2 to replace.  I am NOT doing them myself, it is not worth my time I take them to a local cleaners.  Paying for the zipper and time is less that me taking the time to do it myself.....Not lazy just hate replacing zippers.

We were away for last night and today.  The weather was fantastic and sun was wonderful.  We have lost snow here in the north as well.

Our creek is high and the river is high.  The dam is lowered to allow the excess out.  The risk of flooding is so high.  Pray that the temp stays cold to slow the melt.  A week ago we had snow up to our hips in the field, now it is down so it is a real concerm.

Well people are talking to me and I am having a hard time concentrating.  Have a good night everyone.

Love you all
Judy

I dislike replacing zippers!

I don't mind inserting a zipper in my garment being made from scratch but not replacing.  I take them to a little stitching place at the mall and it costs $8.00 and my time is worth more than that so I think that's a deal!

Now, it's time to lock the door.
