Morning Devotional...Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. Acts 17:16
So many lives in this city were devastated by idolatry and superstition. Are the people of today any different?
Only the idols have changed!
Millions follow and idolize the superstars, sports heroes, and worship material things.
Dear Christian, is your spirit moved within you as you see the idolatry of the people today without a Saviour?
Is there someone to whom you can witness?
--Jim PaulRescue the perishing, care for the dying,

Weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.

Thank you Pat. I pray that I may be enabled to witness more boldly and that the Lord will open doors for me to have the opportunity to do so. Amen.
"Jesus bids us shine first of all for Him,
Like a little candle burning in the dim.
In this world of darkness
So let us shine,
You in your small corner,
And I in mine."

Pat. Oh dear, Glad you woke up from "not" watching the news. Glad to see I am not the only one whose "immediate" memory is going ski-whizz! ???
Lee Good man! I am glad you do not kill game animals. Perhaps Soni and Mike can bring Zach to stay in a cabin near you, or you can meet up for some fishing soon. It would be fun for you both. Never a dull moment when you two wise-crackers get together. ;D
My dear only niece I.M'd me last night. We had a lovely talk. My sister and her husband are in Spain for two weeks and Claire and her family are looking after the kennels for Lesley and Roy. Claire does not go on shoots...good girl! She wanted to know about this site! They all live in Meriden, the Centre of England folks.
The snow has disappeared this morning folks because we have rain, rain and more rain! I think Chris sent it from Manchester, the rain Capital of the world...ouch, sorry Chris! ;) Take care on those roof tops bro. I did notice your post where you went home...Wisdom!!!
Ria Hallo mij zus. tot straks. :-*
I am going now to have a read of my Bible. and a "pray-in." I have the best company, Jesus is here.
I love all of you,
Jenny.
First, I would like to thank everyone for the wishing of my happy Birthday.
Secondly, I would like to say sorry for not being around. It has been a while and I have had many things going on. These next few weeks we are going to see how well I am prepared to share the Gospel. My wife and I have started attending a new Church and when I say new that is what it is. The first services were two weeks ago and it was a great blessing to be a part of.
Today we have a mens breakfast at the Pastors house. It should be intresing since there are only going to be three or four men present. The pastor has been going door to door trying to spread the Gospel and I think starting next weekend I will join him. I was at first skeptical about this, but I tiink the spirit is actually moving me in that direction. I place my Faith in the Gospel and the truth that is stated in it.
The time has come to step out into the Mission field of the United States.
Have a wonderful day all.
Thank you Pat for a wonderful topic.

Hi John..Happy Birthday again dear Brother.
So glad the Lord has opened this door for you to witness in U.S.

Soni --- Your daughter Chandraya is cute as a button... So photogenic!! You'll have to watch out for that one as she gets older!
Great job on the photos. My personal favorite is: http://www.sonifopictures.com/chanfeather3sepiacp.jpg
Well today I've been working hard on getting things ready for my portfolio such as my artist bio, statement, listing of photos in my portfolio, and a resume of shows that I've been in. I've also been helping my good friend Kristen (who is an amazing photographer) get in some art shows of her own. I'm workin on one in the gallery that I work at as well as a couple other locations in San Jose and San Francisco.
Such a long day tomorrow or today or whatever you want to call it... My friend is graduating with a degree in computer information systems tomorrow and I just finished a powerpoint presentation for his graduation party. AT ALMOST 3AM!!! I've got a bunch of stuff left to do before then too. Yikes. What is it that my granmother used to say, "No rest for the wicked and the righteous don't need it!!" Before the graduation I have to work from 9-3 and then there's the ceremony and party... LONG DAY... Help me get through it... Good thing I'm not playin in the worship band on Sunday morning!
I'm finally back up to speed... I was sick for a while there and am looking forward to getting myself back into the studio and darkroom. I'm going to hopefully be working with a couple of new models this week so hopefully that goes well.
I think that's it... I wanted to pop in and say hello. And not be so distant as I have been in the past. I really want to get to know all of you better.
Talk to you soon...
Gregg
Oh Soni --- One question for ya... What kind of digital SLR did you get? I'm lookin a Canon Digital Rebel. Hopefully I'll get one soon as I'd like to have the freedom to not have to deal with film (especially if money is tight... I hate not being able to shoot when I am strapped for cash), but for right now it's the only thing I have. And plus I want my portfolio to be all in film... I'd just have the digital to do test shoots and other pics just for fun.
Jenny, still no snow and no rain either!
hahaaaaaaaa,
But some sunshine. :)
Praise the Lord. :) From James......
Chris and Margit,
I've just been looking through the Christian Photographers message board. I have to say I'm quite overwhelmed by how many people have been supporting us in prayer - I don't know what to say but thank you!
Our God is a great God. "Hail Him as thy matchless King, through all eternity".
Blessings, peace and respect in Christ,
James :)
Phil. 1:3
Chris...Haa gottcha!!! We got huge hail stones now. Did you send them?
Zach I ove that Train pic of yours in the challenge and on your Mum's site. I like the way it is positioned so you can see the shadow and the sky...Brilliant! t.t.f.n. ;)

Pastoral Ministry: Supernatural Energies
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.
--Isaiah 40:31
It is possible to work far beyond the normal strength of the human
constitution and yet experience little or no fatigue because the
energy for the work has been provided, not by the burning up of
human tissue, but by the indwelling Spirit of power. This has been
realized by a few unusual souls, and the pity is that they are
unusual.
Attention has recently been focused upon the fact that ministers
suffer a disproportionately high number of nervous breakdowns
compared with other men. The reasons are many, and for the most part
they reflect credit on the men of God. Still I wonder if it is all
necessary. I wonder whether we who claim to be sons of the new
creation are not allowing ourselves to be cheated out of our
heritage. Surely it should not be necessary to do spiritual work in
the strength of our natural talents. God has provided supernatural
energies for supernatural tasks. The attempt to do the work of the
Spirit without the Spirit's enabling may explain the propensity to
nervous collapse on the part of Christian ministers. The Size of
the Soul, 184-185.
"Lord, today I pray for that pastor who is about to give up and quit
from sheer exhaustion (as I write I think of the close friend
suffering with cluster headaches, exacerbated by the stress of
heavy responsibility). For my friend, and any others, give that
supernatural enabling. Amen."
No way Jenny!
Only God can send hail, so I guess you have to look on it as----God works all things together for good for those who love Him!
Look on them as stepping stones, :) lol.
Chris so sorry re your Minister friend. Doctors and Ministers are the high suicide risk areas, together with now...farmers.
Ministry Burn Out.

Thanks for the "Stepping Stones" bro.
Love to you and Margit.
Jenny.
Good morning!
Gregg~I own the Canon Rebel. It is a great camera.
I think you would like it. Thanks for looking at my portraits and telling me which one you like. :)
Sounds like you are going to be busy. I would love to get my photos in the gallery here. I am a member but I would like to get better frames and we can't get frames here. >:( Anyhow, have fun and don't stay up to late.
Jenny!! :-*
Thanks Ria and Janice for the email. ;D
I am feeling pumped up and ready to play racketball with Zachery. I have no idea how to play, just hit the ball and watch the eyes. :o 8)
Have a good day, peeps.
Soni
Hi everyone. Just back from attending a breakfast at the local Masonic Lodge hall. They have this once a year as a fund-raising event. Enjoyed the pancakes, saugage, orange juice and coffee and also visiting with friends. I don't have much else on my schedule for the day other than to fix some caulking in our shower and work on some projects here on the computer.
Janet, nice to see you are safely home and I sure hope the treatments begin to help Beth.
Soni, those are sure quite picutres you posted. I couldn't pick out a favorite as I liked them all.
Sorry to hear of the rain and snow and hail being experienced in various parts of the world. We have another nice day here in Georgia.
Ria, I also have lots of MP3 songs on my computer and listen to them everyday. I was able to convert my old vinyl records and some of my tapes into mp3s as well as finding a lot of very nice free mp3 music on the Internet. I have a little mp3 player that has a holder that goes on my arm and I listen with earphones. It has great sound quality and I really enjoy it.
John, it is exciting to be involved with the establishment of a new church congregation. We were charter members of a church that started when we first moved to Georgia.
Pat, another fine devotional today.
Nard ~ My husband went fishing every day. His fishing pole was beside the front door. We lived a few feet from a creek in Greenfield. He used plastic worms so he would cast out a few times. If he didn't get a nibble, he came back in. The only time he didn't fish is if the creek was froze over! TAS will like fishing because his Mom and Dad does!
Soni ~ For some reason I like the serious portrait of Chandraya.....the middle bottom one. You certainly do have a great subject to use in a portrait. And she certainly looks like her Mama!!
Zachary ~ I agree with you...that waiting for a fish to bite is boring. So I tried for awhile. Then found a spot to rest and read a book or magazine. I loved being outside, tho.
Papa John ~ I know you are looking forward to Florida. Wish you the best time with friends you have in Florida and with your lovely wife.
Lee ~ No, not 'MLCO'. The animation moves fast but it is 'WELCOME'.
Janet ~ Welcome back. I am with you in hoping that the treatments will help Beth.
Today I am going to Jerry's and then we are going to eat with Bubba's Mom and Dad, Julie and Dennis. They are the ones that built my deck and I am hoping to get them to do my landscaping when it warms up a bit and the supplies are in the stores. ?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`°º?ø,¸¸,ø?º°`°º?ø?º°`

Hello, Ms.Jenny! that would be fun to go fishing with Mr.Lee!
Mom, I can not wait to go spend time with you!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D
Zachery
LARRY when my son is going away he also take his MP3 player with him under is arm. It is a very litle player. Sometimes he must away with with the train then the player is going with him. When we are going way with the car then he also has his Mp3 player in the car.He also has earphones. But when he is with us in the car we also can hear it. And when he is going in his own car. Then he is lying on a chair. Then he is also listen to musik. But i don't like that.
Yes the musik is very good he also has a lot on his computer but he also put a lot on CD's. But now am i busy on his computer He has a very big computer.
I don't like work on his computer. And when he is home he is busy with MP3 or he is looking to movies but that is he also doing sometimes on Internet.

Soni Enjoy this time with Zach. They grow up too soon. You will have such happy memories.
Zach Have lots of fun with your lovely Mum. It's nearly Mother's Day here. ;) ;) ;)
Larry. That sounds a nice breakfast. it's 4.15 p.m. here. Nearly teatime...speaking of "tea" I think I will go and put the kettle on.
Jenny
Well, hello to you all!
Nice to read your messages and so nice to read that James has been looking in and reading as well.
I have a very busy day ahead of me doing many chores and running several errands. So, I mustn't stay online for long.
I'll be back later to chat hopefully.
Pray for Iain.
How about looking through our list of Members and dropping a "Miss seeing you" message (Instant Message) to some of our absent folks. I miss seeing Kim and Rachelle and so many others.
Talk to you later.
Pretty quiet today in here.
We just got back from the club. Zachery has a wicked backhand playing racketball. wooo...that kids can wear you out, but we had fun. Dad came with us to. We worked out a bit with the weights. Don't get to busy, Pat. ;D Luv you! Great devotion. Would the computer be considered a idol? ::) Just a thought. I have been taking some time away from it.
Hoping to get more done. :)
I agree Jenny, time flies so I better hang with the kids while I got the chance.
Chandraya and I are going to go spend some time together now.
Later folks.

Definitely it could be considered that way as far as I'm concerned. It depends on what you are doing with it. I don't feel badly when I'm on CP as I consider this a little corner of God's vineyard. And if I'm learning elsewhere how to do something that will make CP better, I feel that's good too but there are many ways that time on the computer is wasted time.
How about the rest of you? How do you think?
Here's the whole hymn from this morning's devotional...
Rescue the Perishing (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/rescue-the-perishing.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Snatch others from the fire and save them.
Jude 1:23
Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: W. Howard Doane
Sometime after [this] hymn became known I was at a service one evening and a young man told the story of his conversion. Poor and hungry, he had walked the streets for want of something better to do. He heard the singing at a mission; he went in; and before the service was concluded his heart broke in contrition.
"I was just ready to perish," he said to me, "but that hymn, by the grace of God saved me."
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
Weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.
Refrain
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.
Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,
Waiting the penitent child to receive;
Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently;
He will forgive if they only believe.
Refrain
Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.
Refrain
Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wand'rer a Savior has died.
Refrain

Good Morning 10:40 a.m. in Sunny California. I had a nice chat with Jenny early this morning and then started my chores. Been busy ever since just got around to eating something, Top Ramen for breakfast. I do that every now and then.
Going to Bea's house later, she has to signmy time sheet so I can mail it in. She called me earlier and wanted to know what day it was.

Jenny heavy rain, and more tonight and sunday!
BTW. the pastor is not a personal friend, these letters are by AWTozer.
Oh dear I read that part but I thought the paragraph at the bottom was added by you Chris...I do apologise to AWT.
Not more rain, oh dear I shall grow webbed feet like the Mancunians. ;D
Jenny ;)
Good evening everyone!! :)
Just stopping in before I leave.
see you all in couple of hours!!

7.10 p.m. U.K.
News Flash just come in. Arrests were made in Spain yesterday. They are still holding 3 Moroccans and 2 Hindu Nationals. ETA is still claiming they are not responsible.
A News Conference is taking place Right Now
Yes, watching it, Jenny. Wow!
Hello to all my CP friends:
Jenny.. You have such interesting weather!:'
'Ria..sorry you're having to use your son's computer and I am unfamiliar with MP3's. I need a lesson from Larry I would love to take all my old records and put them on a CD. I guess I must have so many Reader's Digest albums about 25 or so.
Pat, Thanks for the hello and for the devotional and song. My answer to the question of could the computer become an idol...a definite "yes" if it is put ahead of God. Our LORD should always come first; but there is so much support from Christian friends here on CP that this is a good tool to be used as a witness of our Savior. And for this I am thankful that we have this method of communication.
Sonifo I loved the pictures of your lovely dgtr, Chandrayqa. She sure does favor you! I liked the BW one that Pat had highlighted yesterday.
Etta Sue I'm so glad you're staying busy. It's a good sign you're enjoying life! ;)
Marilyn, we are having a beautiful sunny day here in SC. The wind is up some and it's a little chilly. I've been outside to clean the filter in the small fish pond.
I hope that I can do some landscaping out there in my side yard. I've been to the library to get books to learn the how's, etc. Last week my sister & I went to a symposium on planting flowers here in this climate. Maybe I can pull something together as I am not talented at all in the "growing-things-outside"area. I've always been an indoor girl. Allergic to sun & the chiggers (we call them red bugs here), mosquitoes always bite me, gnats & flies bite me. What more can I say except I plan to "have strength & courage & go full speed ahead"
And for all the rest, I did not intentionally ignore..but have run out of time myself. Now it is time to get busy and vacuum, dust, etc. I've put it off long enough. Then on to sewing.
love, kathy :) :)
I've been making a big pot of soup for myself and sorting some boxes of "stuff" and now having a coffee break.
Thanks Kathy... That's the way I feel about the computer as well. I just don't have time to spend in the various "chat rooms". There's one on SeniorNet and as a host on SN, I have to go in there from time to time to just check things out and the same people are in there nearly every time I go in there and it doesn't matter what time of the day or night. This is "live" chat that I'm speaking of. I'd say that's a big waste of time and as a Christian, I couldn't do it.
Jenny!
I hope you didn't send all this rain!!!!!!!! :D

Hello! I'm really, really late today. I left home this morning just after 7 and just got back about an hour ago. I went to the health fair, then stayed for both the Pioneer Communications and Pioneer Electric meetings, with a really nice lunch in between. I thought I might win a door prize, but nope! They gave away some really nice things, everything from a 24" flat-screen TV to bundles of 100 minute long distance calling cards, cordless phones, DVD players, radios, grills, lamps, pre-paid energy credits, etc. Anyway, I thought I am a week behind on stuff, so what's one more day? Guess I am just tired.
See you later!

Share and share alike...."quack, quack."
Yours in Quackers. ;D
Jenny
So, Janet, are all the test results, etc. sent to your own family doctor?
Pat..
The news is now reported from Spain that it is Islamic Extremists who have been arrested for the bombings.
Mr. Blair who is in Manchester today is giving us all the usual warnings re what to expect.
P'raps he will pop in for a cup of tea with Chris and Margit. They could give him some advice I am sure. ;)
Good night all.
The Peace of the Lord
Be always with you.
Jenny.
Jenny and Chris..........
Stay out of the Tube.
Well I am back, I have been off cause of puter problems. I was unable to get inyo explorer, and finally today called my server and thay walked me through the corrections. I had the puter at my computer tech guy, and he cleaned it out and has informed me that seeing it is has been 3 years since I have had it reformarred it, it needs to be done. Also with the dust of a wood furnace, 2 cats and 3 dogs....... I need a new power source. It isn't gone yet but it is a matter of time. What John calls preventative maintenance.
We have had a busy day, Praise team and then picking up john, to the computer tesh, then shopping. We were home intime to get the the groceries put away and then Bonnie arrived. We are having a good visit. Vic has decided he is going to do school work so he can earn xome computer time. Bribe ? Perhaps but the computer time is a learning tool as well so If it works I won't fix it.
The news out of Spain.... devestating, that is all I can say.
Well I have to go, Will be back later.
Judy.
Well I finally got back online. I removed a couple of programs from my computer that I didn't need anymore, then I couldn't get back on line. So rebooted it and left it alone while I went to shower and shampoo my hair. Came back and all if fine again.
Pat I am going to go ahead and order the trial of PSP 8 that I have after I amke a big payment on my Credit card. Then I will see about doing the PSP lessons so I can learn about what I have.
Did y-all see the new recipes I posted? Some are more than one per thread.
TTYL
Ohhh, Marilyn, you'll never be sorry. Ask Etta Sue. She uses PSP now nearly for everything. It's just a great program and I suggest that as soon as possible you get into one of the free programs and learn how to use the various features--even if you are never going to make graphics, etc. But you'll be able to use some of these features to fix up your photos.
Just wanted to stop in and say hi. We are about to watch a movie.
Talk with you later.
Pat:
What is PSP? Where do I get it and what is it used for????
Ruth
Ruth PSP ia Paint Shop Pro. It is used to make hose beautiful cards of welcome and birthday cards that you see on CP. Melaura is taking a novice PSP course. I will have her send you the addy so you can check it out.
hello eveyone!! we are going to watch another movie.
The movie we watched last night is called secondhand Lions! It was hilarias but sad. I would strongly recomend it for anyone.
You all should rent it.
well bye everyone!!
Zachery
Yes, Ruth, as Judy has said, it's Paint Shop Pro. It's a graphic software program and we use it to lighten or brighten or alter the contrast of photos or to manipulate them in any way. We use it to compress them so that they are the right size for posting here on CP.
It's a powerful program.
These are my lessons that I'm racing to try and get finished. I believe that Rachelle is as well.
http://christianphotographers.com/pers/psp/art04/artistry2PSP.html
Well, I am slipping in here for just a minute to report that we made the drive safely to Bradenton, Florida. We got here in a little more than twelve hours. We are tired. I haven't read the posts for today but just wanted to say thanks for your prayers for a safe trip. God bless you all. I'll have more to say tomorrow after church.

Glad you had a great journey, Papa John.
Talk to you tomorrow.
Hi CP Freinds. Well I made it home this afternoon and have just spent some time catching up on a weeks worth of postings. Some interesting dialoque. I find this interesting although somewhat lengthy due to my long absences.
I would like to welcome all the newcomers to CP. I see we got quite a number of them this week. Hope you folks will enjoy like the rest of us.
Had a busy week this week as I did 2 round trips to Virginia. When this happens it keeps me on the move to get it all done. The weather in Virginia was wonderful and the flowers are starting to coming up, the trees are beginning to bud and the magnoilia trees were in bloom. This is the positive part of my job. I get to enjoy about 3 months of spring and watch it move from the south to the north.
My dispatch has told me that next week I will be going to Guntown Mississppi which will bring down through Nashville and then out towards Jackson an area where I have not been to for 2 or 3 yrears. i am looking forward to this. I am trying to see if judy can join me on this one. She would enjoy it and give her a much needed break.
I was talking to Doug , my son today and he was looking for me earlier as the Company he and I work for had him take a set of trains to load, and he had never pulled trains before. For those who are not familiar with terminology, a set of trains is 2 trailers pulled in tandem behind one power unit. I have pulled these things and loved it and he has now had a taste of it as well. Apparently it went well and it seems that some of the talking I have done of my experiences served him well today, Way to go son. You can handle it. I guess I will have to watch out or you will go right on by me.
I am looking forward to having a couple of days at home before I leave again. Tommorrow is church and that is always a pleasent experience. I really enjoy our Pastor, as he is not only a pastor but also a friend. We always have a good time when we can get together.
Jenny it was interesting to see that you and I have a common interest in reading material. I find Steve Martini fascinating and have also started to read another author, Terri Blackstock, who writes a similar story line but form a Christian perspective and can be found over here in the Christian Bookstores. The publisher is Zondervan.
Pat you would have loved this trip to Virginia with all the new fresh blooms and beautiful weather. I could just picture you running around trying to get as many pictures as you could.
Well I,ll end for now but will be back this weekend. God Bless. Bonesy
Yes, Pat, the reports from the health fair are sent to both us and our doctor. It's really a nice service. I paid the $9 to have my thyroid checked, while I was at it. They only charge for that and for the PSA for the guys.
Abby is here now, and wanting some of Grandma's attention. I think it is time to get into our pajamas and read some books!
See you tomorrow!
Pat I went ahead and ordered PSP again from Dell. That first one I got the CD was damaged and it wouldn't load into my computer, I hope this one os a good one. I will have the book too. Do you have the book? It is pretty thick.
Has anyone heard from RuthAnn? I sent her a email just a little bit ago.
TTYL
Well folks, after having to come home early yesterday because of some health issues, I am finally feeling rested enough to sit and type to you all.
First of all.....I was able to see the movie tonight...(The Passion Of The Christ).....all I can say about it is WOW! I was in tears for most of it. I am not able to talk about it yet, it really had an impact on my heart.
I also thought I should fill you in on the answer to my little trivia question from yesterday. The average world temperature is 15*C or 59*F. Not as warm as I would have thought, but it seems right.
Anyway, I am going to go. I am going to take some time for some personal reflection with my Jesus.....
Love to all
Heather
I felt the same way Heather about The Passion movie and I guess I will always remember in a more intense way how Jesus suffered for me. I was in Sears and heard two girls talking about it. One was a Muslim. I wanted to tell them why Jesus died for the sins of the world when they left the store. The very end showed a Jesus without any blood on him and in his glorified body. I am hoping it will get thousands and millions of people thinking about the most wonderful and important event in all of history.
Time for bed now. I am hosting a birthday party tomorrow. God bless.
Love Ruthie
Hey Pat!...
I just stopped by to check out my last picture post. It had all red "x's" - so I went to Photo Sense to see if I could find out the problem. None of the pictures that I'd posted there to link to...were there! What's happening? I know they'd had some problems where they'd lost some pictures earlier...but these were there AFTER that, and I thought they were safe... Are they still having problems?
Shalom...
Closing up a bit early.
Lots to think about here.
