Morning Devotional...

2 Pet. 1:10, 11.  "Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

A crew is being chosen for a very special treasure-seeking mission, a mission that will likely result in great wealth for every member of the crew.  Only a certain number can be taken on the mission, and there's a large crowd around the crew chief to see who is chosen.

But, listening very carefully, you think you heard the wonderful news that your name was one of the chosen ones!  You would waste no time or effort getting to the crew chief.  You would want more than anything else to find out if it were true.  You would want to know if you were called!  You would want to know if you were one of the chosen ones!  Finding out would be the most important thing in your life!

The story is a reality!  Some are called and chosen from all mankind to come to Jesus for everlasting life.  Did you hear Him right?  Did He choose you?  Have you made sure?

And Can it Be That I Should Gain[/u]
(Click to hear music]

Suddenly there was a great earthquake,
so that the foundations of the prison were shaken;
and immediately all the doors were opened
and everyone's chains were loosed.
Acts 19:26

Words: Charles Wesley, Psalms and Hymns, 1738.
Music: "Sagina," Thomas Campbell, 1835

And can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Savior's blood!
Died He for me who caused His pain!
For me who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

'Tis mystery all: th' Immortal dies!
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries
To sound the depths of love divine.
'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;
Let angel minds inquire no more.
'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;
Let angel minds inquire no more.

He left His Father's throne above
(so free, so infinite His grace!),
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam's helpless race.
'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
For O my God, it found out me!
'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
For O my God, it found out me!

Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature's night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray;
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach th' eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
Bold I approach th' eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Remembering the prayer requests today

How did the night go for your friends Marilyn, and Jerry, and Tom's wife?

I've got a fussy baby, (hungry again?), so I'd better scoot.

Papa John

Good morning everyone.  Hopefully we will get some good reports today.

Friday of this week we are leaving for our Florida trip.  This will be our 12th year to go to Bradenton where we rent a house not too far from the beach.  Martha, our daughter, will be with us the first week and the third week Beth and James, daughter and son-in-law with be with us.  Every year we say this may be our last time.

I am thinking of Jerry this morning and I hope Etta Sue can give us a report on his condition.

I hope you all have a good day.

Ps 118:24  This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  (NIV)

I pray our Father that you and Cornelia will have a blessed trip to Bradenton, Papa John.  I pray you'll finish it by praising our Lord for His goodness!

Marilyn

Good Morning: Not much to say this morning no news yet on  Joanne or Jennifer. When I hear something I will update it in the prayer thread.

We had a wonderful prayer meeting at church last evening, and only a few people showed up, it seems to be getting less and less people.

The sun is shining this morning no fog today. The temp is fair just around 50* F.

I am going to Tai Chi this morning and to the Massage therapist this afternoon on my breaks. Plus going to work for Fay.

That's all for now.

Good Morning Everyone...

I, too, was coming to see about Marilyn's friends and Jerry.  So sad.

And the news of the day too hasn't been great since Friday...The murders in Atlanta and then the needless killings in Wisconsin at the church.  My what terribleness.

Morning!

I got a sick child this morning.  She seems to be doing better now.

A lot has happened this weekend, makes you think about life and how you need to spend your days because you never know when it is your time to go.

I better get to burning my pictures.

Pat

Oh, Soni, which child?  I'd love to be there to sit and hug!

Jesus Loves Me
(Click to hear music)

I pray that you...may have power...to
grasp how wide and long and high
and deep is the love of Christ.
Ephesians 3:17-18

Words: Anna B. Warner and David Rutherford McGuire.
Music: William B. Bradbury

Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.

Refrain

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! This I know,
As He loved so long ago,
Taking children on His knee,
Saying, "Let them come to Me."

Refrain

Jesus loves me still today,
Walking with me on my way,
Wanting as a friend to give
Light and love to all who live.

Refrain

Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven's gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.

Refrain

Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.

Refrain

Jesus loves me when I'm good,
When I do the things I should,
Jesus loves me when I'm bad,
Even though it makes him sad.

Refrain

Al, that is a good devotional, and I guess we all need to ask those question of ourselves very often, if not every morning.

Papa John and Cornelia, have a wonderful visit in Bradenton, and enjoy yourselves with the family. Many, many years ago (back in the late 1940's), I had a sister and her family who lived there for several years - but I never got to visit there.

Marilyn, I enjoy reading your postings, there are always seem so energetically inspired.  (I think that I am expressing the thought with the correct words  ??? )

Pat, it is saddening to hear some of the bad news that is being broadcasted now. But, what a joy it is when we hear of someone doing something nice for someone else.  Like the boy scouts in Clayton Ohio are taking plastic bags around their neighborhoods today, and they will be picked back up on Saturday.  The donated food will then be taken to the food pantries where those in need can come.

Sonifo, I hope your child will be feeling better real soon.  It was nice of Pat to post "Jesus Loves Me".  I enjoyed that too.

Here in Dayton Ohio, we woke up to bright sunshine and temperatures in the 30's today.  :)  I take care of my daughter's elderly, blind little shitzu during the week while she works at a local high school as secretary in the Guidance office.  This morning she phoned me at 5 a.m., and said that her furnace was making a racket and she had to call for repairs and would not be going to work today - so I got to sleep later this morning.  The repairman came about 10:30 a.m. and was able to get a replacement part and it back in good runing condition now.  The furnace is the original one when these condos were build in 1979 - so it will need to be replaced at some point in time.  She has only lived here since April of 2002, and I moved into another unit in Nov. 2002
I enjoy being near her so that we can help each other.

(Etta Sue was the one who told me how to do this type of posting - it is really nice to be able to reply to each one in this manner.)

Thanks Etta Sue.   I hope that your day is going well for you.  Keep us posted about Jerry.

I'll keep all of you in my prayers today.

Sonifo

hi Mary!  I have missed seeing you on here.  Thank you, she seems to be doing better.  She must have had a to long of a weekend.

I can't get my D and E drive to work. grrr.. I think I am going to take this sick computer to the shop.

Rachelle

Good Morning All
Things are busy around here this morning-with the business of the house-I am finishing up painting my kitchen today and
then will call the handyman to fix the countertops-they need it badly. Then I start painting downstairs-the last property we
looked at didn't come through for us so we are still in the looking stage-but right now our focus is on getting the house finished.
Praying for all of you.
Hugs

Pastoral Ministry: Sheep Are Led

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our
Maker. For he is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and
the sheep of His hand.
--Psalm 95:6-7

Cattle are driven; sheep are led; and our Lord compares His people to
sheep, not to cattle.

It is especially important that Christian ministers know the law of
the leader--that he can lead others only as far as he himself has
gone....

The minister must experience what he would teach or he will find
himself in the impossible position of trying to drive sheep. For
this reason he should seek to cultivate his own heart before he
attempts to preach to the hearts of others....

If he tries to bring them into a heart knowledge of truth which he
has not actually experienced he will surely fail. In his frustration
he may attempt to drive them; and scarcely anything is so
disheartening as the sight of a vexed and confused shepherd using
the lash on his bewildered flock in a vain attempt to persuade them
to go on beyond the point to which he himself has attained....

The law of the leader tells us who are preachers that it is better
to cultivate our souls than our voices. It is better to polish our
hearts than our pulpit manners, though if the first has been done
well and successfully it may be profitable for us to do the second.
We cannot take our people beyond where we ourselves have been, and
it thus becomes vitally important that we be men of God in the last
and highest sense of that term.  The Price of Neglect, 151-153.

"Lord, today let me stop, step off the busy treadmill, and look to
the condition of my soul. Help me to listen to You and be
spiritually nurtured, to have my soul cultivated by You in silence
and solitude. Amen."

Soni, is it Chandraya or Lila Mae that's not feeling well?  Too bad about the computer drives.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Sonifo

Pat, it is Chandraya that isn't feeling well.  She is asleep right now.  She had a long weekend and eating differently may have cause the upset stomach.  Plus I think she may have asthma like Troy.  She has had a horrible cough for 2 weeks now.

tolovemoon

Hey Sonja hope Chandraya gets to feeling better... Something the doctor told me when Zach was 2 years old he was sick a lot is that a cold with alergy symptoms may give you a astma sounding cough with weezing. Its more bronchail and syptoms will occur after having a cold or flu. But do make sure that  its not ashtma.. I have had some cases of my own. Its not a comfortable thing to have ...

I hope everyone is doing well. I got a email from a friend Patrick Adams and he shared this most awesome link to a story about Pine trees.
http://wandascountryhomeinspirational.com/pinetrees/

I hope everyone will get to see the crosses. I thought it was most beautifull :)

Pat

Ohhh, that's wonderful, Tracy!  I never knew that.  I'm sure going to look now though.

I tried to subscribe to her email list but got a message saying that her email account has reached its capacity!  I'm so sorry.

Sonja, I too am hoping that Chandraya will be just hunky dorey tomorrow!  Maybe she will be when she gets rested up.

Such a great accomplishment for the little deary.  Hope we get to see photos!

CheckSix

Hey Everyone,

Last night was exciting. We got a call from a friend at church who notified us that after two years of searching for a senior pastor for our church, the search committee found one and he will be coming to the church in April to candidate! The last two years have been tough for our church, first the senior pastor (who had been there for 26 years) left, then the associate pastor, then our music pastor, and then our youth pastor will be leaving in May. It sounds like there's something wrong right? Not so! Each one of these pastors said that they were following God's Will for their lives! So we've had a lot of interesting (and I mean interesting!) speakers these past two years and then we finally get word that they found one! To add to all this they found an interim music pastor who is interested in candidating for a full time position and a youth pastor who is also interested in candidating.

Luckily our church has remaind encouraged over the past few years and church attendance has remaind steady. God has certainly worked out all the details that none of us could have imagined!

Pat

What wonderful news, Ryan.  That's certainly encouraging for your church family.

Soni, I hope little Chandraya is feeling all chipper again in the morning.  They usually bounce back quickly at that age, and I pray she will do that.

Ryan, I hope our church succeeds in finding a pastor soon, too.  Like yours, we have had some really interesting speakers, but it's good to have a PASTOR!  Glad you are getting yours.

We had a busy day today.  After exercize and swimming, I went to the dentist for my 6 months cleaning, then we took the PT Cruiser to Garden City.  It had been leaking transmission fluid.  They fixed it, it was faulty hose clamps, and it is still under warranty.  Not free, though, since we had to drive 120 miles and gas is now $2.17 per gallon!  :(

Abby didn't get to finish her sewing project, but we will probably get it done tomorrow.  We did get the elastic we need for it today.  And I am taking step by step photos, Pat.  ;)

Now, since it is that time, please continue to read and post HERE.
