Morning Devotional...

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. . . to be conformed to the image of His Son.
Romans 8:28-29

Shattered by storms, twisted by pain, broken by sorrow, numbed by grief, many a perplexed child of God has cried into what seems an unresponsive sky, "What good can come of this?"

What is the good of verse 28? It is the glory of verse 29: "conformed to the image of His Son."

All things are working together to that one great good--the moral and spiritual image of the Son of God.

One day He will finish the work, but He has begun to form Christ in you by pain and pleasure, by discipline and delights.

What a good thing that is!

SarahGods blessings in this time of grief.
Rachelle, hope you get better soon.
Pat, thanks for the links... I have found some new interesting areas in this forum.

I have a little bit of news for everyone.    My training at Spurgeons College was in Church Planting and Evangelism.  It was only because of College requirements that during studies I was interviewed for and accepted for a position as student Minister in Harold Hill Baptist.  Three years ago I was asked by the Church to continue as the Pastor.  Recently, I felt strongly that my calling as evangelist was not being fulfilled.

I decided to begin looking for a secular job at the beginning of this month (March) with the goal of supporting the Church, both financialy and spiritually until new opportunities are opened by God. God works so fast that I begin my new position in April with a subsiduary of Tyco.  I announced it at our AGM last week and most of the members are upset.

However, I will continue as a part time Pastor until my three months notice is complete and after that will continue as a member supporting the deacons.  The Church cannot afford a minister and has struggled to make the transition from a maintenance mode mentality to an outward looking, missionary community.  Despite this, God is at work building up a core group of committed people who will take Jesus into the community.

Next week Tuesday, Carol and I will be going to our home in Spain for a week before embarking on my new career.  (If anybody would like to see our home you will find it on http://community.webshots.com/user/garethparkes (http://community.webshots.com/user/garethparkes) ) I will try to take a couple of interesting photos while we are there.

Hello everyone....

Sarah, I pray that God send an overwhelming blanket of peace over you and your family during this time.

Garrett, I pray for God's direction as to what he would have you to do.

Pat, I was wondering if there was any way that I could suggest a book for after you all finish "Purpose Driven Life". Is that a possibility?

Hi everyone.  I got up earlier so have a few minutes to post before heading out to walk and then a busy day ahead.

Sarah, so sorry to hear that your grandfather passed away.  Even knowing that it will soon be happening it is still a shock when it is reality.  May God bless you and your family during this time of grief.

Gareth, it sounds like God has interesting work ahead of you.  Hope you have a great trip back to Spain.

Pat, glad you heard from Mieka.  She must have a lot of frequent flyer miles by now as that young lady really travels a lot.  I hope she can stop by to say hi soon.

Ruth Ann, sounds like you and Bonesy had a great visit.  Were you at the Atlanta SeniorNet Bash several years ago?

Rachelle, sorry to hear of the illness in your family and do hope today finds everyone improved.

Well I better head for the YMCA and get my morning walk completed.

Yes, Larry, I was at the Atlanta Bash. You may remember that I had sustained a terrible fall and my face and eyes were black and blue, but my friend Mary came with me. I truly enjoyed that Bash. That's where I met Pat and first met Jane.

Y'all have a good day. I was pretty slow getting up so I'm hurrying off to work - sandwich in hand!

Jane I am pleased that you are sble to go see Marilyn, you will have a good time Marilyn sounds like a fun lady.

Enjoy the seminar you are going to Ruthie, We will see you on the w/end

I am very sore today.  The middle back has seized up and moving and lifting are very difficult.  The girls are really helpful.

John will be home on friday evening.  He has his drop off and reload about 10 minutes apart today so rather than Saturday coming home it will be Friday.

Jake is lying at my feet looking at me wanting to play.  Unfortunately I can't bounce like I do with him, so he is out of luck.

Well bye for now

Good Morning everyone!

I've had a busy morning so far doing a few things, trying to sort out a few things, dealing with my ISP, etc. etc.

I just looked at the clock and was shocked to see that the morning is gone!

I hope that your day is good.

Thoughts this morning for Sarah and her family.

Missed talking to you all week, Ruthie!  :'(

I enjoyed my visit to your home in Spain, Gareth!  Lovely photos.  My relatives who used to live in Brentwood have a home on Majorca.  And their son is a missionary is Spain with OM and Open Air Campaigners.  I pray that you will be conscious of the Lord's guiding hands in the coming days in your life.  My late husband and I did a few correspondence courses in the past with Spurgeon's College.  Really enjoyed them too.

Ria, I'm so glad that you enjoy the daily devotional on CP.  I just am continuously amazed at your knowledge of our English language.

Hey Jane!  Travel safely!  Guess you're on your way now.  I hope you have a great time with Al and Marilyn!

Yes, Ruth Ann, I sure remember you at the Atlanta Bash.  I was so upset to see your poor face.  But it wasn't as bad as probably you thought it was.  Your lovely nature outshone any imperfections in your face!  I was so happy that we had that opportunity to meet back then.  My goodness!  That's a long time ago!  That's when I got that famous kiss from Papa John!     ;D

Have you all checked out Mieka's photos?  She has some lovely ones.

Hello to the rest of you, JudyB, Larry, Karma and anyone I've missed.

I'll be back...

It is always interesting to hear of relatives in places that I don't know!  Pat who was/is in Spain?  Are they missionaries?

Here it is nearing one o'clock and I am just getting here.  I took Abby swimming, but I didn't swim, just watched.  Then a lady from our local newspaper came to interview me and take photos of my artwork for a special edition that is coming up soon.

My class will be arriving soon, so this has to be short.  My sleep time was short last night, too.   :-\

Sarah, I'm so sorry about your grandpa, and will be thinking of you and your family these next days.

MIEKA, if you peek in, here are some hugs for you! ((((hugs))))

Jane, have a great time with Marilyn, Al, and Marbeth!

There is a green hill far away,
Outside a city wall,
Where the dear Lord was crucified,
Who died to save us all.

Refrain

O dearly, dearly, has He loved,
And we must love Him, too,
And trust in His redeeming blood,
And try His works to do.

We may not know, we cannot tell,
What pains He had to bear;
But we believe it was for us
He hung and suffered there.

Refrain

He died that we might be forgiven,
He died to make us good,
That we might go at last to heaven,
Saved by His precious blood.

Refrain

There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin;
He only could unlock the gate
Of heaven and let us in.

Refrain

O dearly, dearly has He loved,
And we must love Him, too,
And trust in His redeeming blood,
And try His works to do.

TOO MUCH LIBERTY.. TOO LITTLE? :)

March 18

Pastoral Ministry: Spiritual Leadership of Anointed Men

Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out
for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with
joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
--Hebrews 13:17

You cannot deny that the life and vitality of the Christian church
lie in the spiritual leadership of men anointed of the Holy Ghost.
I dare to tell you that there is danger in too much democracy in the
life of the church.

I am sure that some of you with a strong Baptist background will
curl up like a burning leaf in the autumn to hear me say this, but
that is all right: I am half Baptist myself!

But I do not believe that God expects the Christian church to thrive
and mature and grow just on plain democratic principles. If you will
check around you will find that even those who hold to democracy in
their church policy never get beyond first base unless they have
leaders within the denomination who are anointed men, strongly
spiritual in leadership.  Christ the Eternal Son, 100.

"Lord, it seems as though Christian leaders have failed so often and
so visibly that now the church is paranoid. I pray that leaders
today would be faithful and pure; I pray that the church today would
be willing to follow Godly leadership. Amen."

PAT --- Is there any way that I can suggest a book to read next after we finish Purpose Driven Life? I'm reading a great book called "A New Kind Of Christian" by Brian McLaren... It's a great book about two friends on their spiritual journey. I'd love to have a group I could talk to about this...

JANE --- Hope you have a great and restful time on your trip. And don't forget to have fun!

GARETH --- Spain!! I love it there... Can I come too??  ;D

Well.... I'm off. Talk to you all later.

Thanks for the devotional, Pat.  I miss your picture!

Finally am back at the computer.  Yesterday was not very pleasant.  Was at the hospital at 9:30 A.M. and didn't have the test until 11:30.  Was out of things for about 3 hrs.  Glad they put me to sleep as it looked nasty and made a lasting impression.....Won't know the results for a couple of weeks.  Probably as well.  Sorry about your liquid diet Etta Sue.  Went that route awhile back.  Ugh!!

I'm so sorry about your Grandpa, Sarah.  Will pray for your family.

We are having a rain and wind day on the island.  I had  go out into the storm and have a monthly shot.  Came back to find the power had gone out and my TV show was only half recorded.  Drat.

I am going to look into that class for Paint Shop Pro 8.  Bought the program and have the book....now must get down to using both.  Will check things out tomorrow.  Sounds like fun.  One learns the most interesting things on this site.

Voted and think things are great on the site.   You do a fantastic job Pat (and elves).

God Bless.  Liz

Pat - I was so saddened yet interested to read of those misionaries who died.  Just terrible, they were so young.

Pat - did you notice the first page in the CBC letter., where 2 patients died who were given wrong drugs?  They were dialysis patients.  I thought you would be interested in reading this.

Sarah, I am so sorry for you, in learning that your Grampa passed away.

Judy B.  How nice that John and Ruth Ann could visit.  I'd love to meet some fellow C.Pers.  We are all so scattered....its impossible to have a C.P. bash.

I had another night where I was unable to sleep., so its an early to bed night for me!

Pat and Judy B.  two sisters who had a fall.  One on ice., one on the bedroom floor. ;)

I hope both you gals are healing well! :D

Hi Everyone...

Today has been a little better and I am feeling better. I had a headache earlier but its gone ~I am not 100 percent better as I still am congested but, I am feeling much better then yesterday.. I was able to get out and get my grocery shopping done and some light housework.. Tonight I'm finishing up on my lessons.
Im thinking of getting a new digital camera but, the one I want is expensive-but, I want to be able to have one that has extra lenses..so I will be patient and wait until we can get it. I hope to have it by summer as we are taking the kids back to Seattle to go on a Whale watching cruise..
Not much else going on here-
Thanks all for your prayers..
May the Lord bless all of you.
